As long as these auctioned once won't have the most rarest background - it should be fine. It would be not fair having them with the most rarest background who just got created out of thin air. Cause this would def. decrease the value of lower background tiers.

Being 1 of 1 I still don't think they would devalue the others. I do agree that the background should be random. That being the case they could still get a t5, s3 background, but at least it would be a fair way to get it.

Yeah, that's why it should not become a Tier5 background. It would devalue the most rarest Illuvitars like for example the Blazig rhampyhre with the tier 3 (drone) background.

We're still discussing the shimmer as a UI thing within our ecosystem, but an animated thing wasn't an option for the NFT's themselves, so we pretty much had to go with a stamp, and it is what people asked for, so here we are!

• Promos are intended to be an ongoing white-labelled product that we can use to quickly bring new people to the Illuvium ecosystem.
• When you buy a d1sk you trigger a backend process which mints the d1sk (you aren't buying an already minted NFT).
• Making cash is not the primary purpose of Promo deals (for us at least).

Therefore:

1. It is very beneficial to have users come to Illuvium, buy from us, set up IMX wallet, etc. This brings players in to the ecosystem.

2. For a partner to sell on their own marketplace it requires them to integrate their marketplace with our backend, we don't expect most partners will want to do this work although we would support them in doing it if they wished.

I can't talk about the specifics of the GameStop deal and which factors went in to the final decision as it is under NDA.

Would it be a good idea to cary over purchases, that go over the last milestone you completed?
i.e. if you bought 120 d1sks, you got the 100 milestone, and you get to cary-over 20 d1sks for the next wave.
This can incentivise people to not stop buying when they hit 100 d1skss.

If you cannot afford to take the risk, don't.
Regardless there will be more than enough people willing to take the gamble with these promo disks, hence why lowering the price would be a bad move. It would only be taking funds off the treasury for absolutely no gain.

I seems a bit too marketing tactic heavy to do another alpha release for wave 2 and every wave.

Ill admit I’m biased on this but like why did I buy alphas we are just gonna release alphas with every wave. Feels pretty cheap if there are going to be three alpha sets a year (at current pace).

Personally, I’d vote for alphas ONLY when a new full illuvial set is released. Keep the waves on their currently scheduled release to keep entry price low. Tbh I thought that is what we were doing to begin with.

I think we are lacking a suitable utility for Alpha Illuvitars to merit the extra investment. You can't just tack on extra points to the alphas because then you're selling leaderboard power and that's not what Illuvium is about. I will also be passing up on the next alphas in favor of more regular disks unless we are given some sort of Alpha-only utility. A tiny little A on my Illuvitar card is not enough for me

With illuvium the waves are the same set, these alphas will be the 1st ever print of that particular illuvitar, all within the same set.

Pokemon market did not care about them being first edition though. That pov shifted a decade later. And don't think the amount of Alpha (percentage wise) is a problem. Only thing I feel a bit hessitant about with alphas is their d1sk price. Pokemon for exemple never charged extra for 1st edition packs. Which helped secondary market price for them to grow exponentially. At a 5x price for Alpha illuvitars, that's somewhat different. But every new wave should have alpha's: at least imho.

Right and one way to look at it is we have the alpha set for set 1 - not all where in the first base set of pokemon either. Also - no one considers the base set of Pokémon in at the same category as the first additions of later sets. The way they showing up visually in almost all aspects was different, font, coloring, labels, ect. That is no small part why they are prized.

If all the other alphas look and called the same then it's going be not nearly as cool.

Should we just brush off the demand side? The Pokémon game boy game was a smash hit in 1996 which is what drove demand for the cards primarily.

Listening to the market might not be a bad idea (if we are not as pressed for cash), if we don't and we create just a ton of them with out the proper meaning and value built into them we could cause some reputational damage.

I agree with zz cap - I think it's better for everyone if wave 2 alphas are available in less quantity and/or lower price, unless some sort of extra utility is introduced (it shouldn't be increased power).
I overspent on alphas and regretted later because there was no real demand, scarcity or utility. I know we're playing the long game here, and precisely because of that, alphas need something extra. At least a much lower price to make them a better deal... Maybe a reverse auction for future waves?
People outside this community don't like feeling ripped off short term, they might not see the long-term investment or hold the same beliefs that Illuvium will be huge one day.

I agree that it's not fair to have too many monetary expectations. I just don't think that the current crypto culture is able to appreciate that enough. My assumption is that most of crypto users aka nft/shitcoin traders are exceptionally driven by 'can the price go up' mentality. Even most new folks coming into crypto/web 3.0 came looking for pumps.
On the other hand, if illuvium or any other web 3 game is pitched to web 2.0 gamers, then the main complaint is that the stuff is vastly overpriced. That's the main reason why most gamers frown upon nfts, they feel like they're being ripped off, and they can't see how they can benefit from what web 3.0 brings (yet). They can get triple A game experience for 60 bucks (plus all the extras). This is a much wider complex subject, but my point is that the investment potential for gamers should not be diminished or disregarded with games like this. That's what will attract the most. People should be able to invest, earn, get wrecked, and learn to act more responsibly, and have fun in the process.

1. There is no precedent that every card needs an alpha/first edition. Mtg only had one ever (for the very first print), not all Pokémon did. It’s a STRATEGIC choice.
2. The market is not supporting the current supply. Prices are lower than launch and we don’t need the money. It doesn’t matter that alphas are more rare if there is a massive over abundance overall.
3. The number of sales we do does not change this. If we only sell 100 (unlikely) then those will prob be the most valuable, all the ppl that bought the first ones, some believe they were the only alpha, will be cucked. When they were supporting the DAO at a some what desperate time. If we sell a ton (most likely) we will only have the same problem.

Stoping alphas and continuing with the waves satisfies everything we are trying to do. The current alpha market has a chance of becoming the premium end of the market. Something we want bc we make money based on volume. Higher prices = good. AND we keep the door open to revenue with the waves releasing standard illuvitars, which don’t have to compete with alphas for price appreciation. So they should fair better too.

Idk think this is worthy of consideration. I’ll leave it here for a council member to pick up.

The alpha standard are at a grand total of .002 eth over selling price. Again if you actually traded nfts profitability you would know there is no liquidity there. So if you hold more than probably 3 standard alpha disks it would be a complete delusion to price them all at .027 (floor price).
