I don't believe this is true, I think it works very very well in 95%+ of cases, very well in 99%, and just okay in the other 1%. But even at it's worst it seems to do pretty good.

We're using a machine learning model that doesn't need all variations to be sold to come up with estimates. It fills in the holes based on similar sales. I know it's hard for me to convince you of that, and I know it isn't perfect. But based on me trying to sell some things off, whenever I try to "outsmart" it and put something for higher because I think it's worth that. It never sells. Even if it's technically the cheapest one.

The model draws conclusions based on similar sales. Say a Krunk T5 background sells for ~300% the value of a T1 background krunk and slashing T5 background slashins also sell for roughly 300% more. But a t5 bg vermillia has never sold. I may assume based on that and loads of other factors it correlates to that the T5 background vermillia is worth about 300% more than the T1.

Yes it should get more accurate as time goes on, but I (biasely) argue it's extremely accurate now 😄

It's only good if people know the value of the Illuvitar and buy/sell accordingly. My holo air atippo with S3 background has a value of 21$ while the floor price is around 38$. Its because someone threw it on the market for 12$ and everyone is still searching for the correct value.

For most it is accurate. But 21$ for a max power regular Air atippo is way undervalued.
In contrast, my regular blazing doka has a valud of 130, while it is way less rare.

So yep agree it is a nice figure but it has its obvious inaccuracies.

I just saw this, so here is my take. Overall, the art is awesome, a really solid effort, congratulations to the team! My only issue is with some of the backgrounds. I think only the low levels act as "backgrounds", where they often match the portrait and create a stunning visual combination together. Mostly the tier 1 stage 1, tier 1 stage 2, tier 2 stage 2, and tier 2 stage 3 are great. The colorful ones for the T0 crowd are also nice. Tier 3 backgrounds are really inconsistent to me, each stage is so different from the other that you could not even tell they belong to the same family. And tier 4s just look lazy, like someone just grabbed a random screenshot from the game and used it as a background. These higher level backgrounds also very rarely create a stunning visual match with the portrait due to them being more of an image rather than a pattern. I know many people disagree with me on this, as I have seen comments where people like the ones the most that I dislike, but it's all good as art is subjective 🙂

I feel you on this one. It does bother me too, if I can't complete it, but I still enjoy this project a lot. On the other hand, there are very few collections you won't be able to complete, like the set 1 wave 1 and the set 1 without a rhamphyre. But from set 2 we will have variations that can fit into some of the current slots. Like, there will be a new rhamphyre variation, so you can complete the line collection later.

Oh, it's definetly completeable, depending on what level of backgrounds, finish, expressions you pick.
The part that bothers me is that some (higher tier backgrounds mainly) cards will never be minted, so if I start a collection and it later turns out some of the cards I "need" doesn't even exist, it would just feel really bad.
I might still go for a T1S1 full set, since that should be fairly completeable, just not as perfect as it could be.

Aaron said they had this planned from the start. Like not all illuvials will be completely new from scratch in set 2. Some will be new and some will just be new versions of existing ones with new abilities and such. Also for illuvitars, we are so early and very few people have the chance to pick these up now. So when the crowd comes later, you don't wanna present so many gaping holes in the collections that they can never fill. So the new variations will fit in the line collections (but not in the set collections)

As far as I know, we got the other 2 stages coming up. Then that'll be it for a while. Then there's the potential for another creature based on Rhamph to exist in set 2. But this will be functionally a different illuvial, and would have its own illuvitar. No idea how this factors into collections and stuff though. As far as I know. Honestly the first I heard about set 2 not being all new illuvials was when Aaron posted the other day, so I don't have much more info than you. We haven't started designing set 2 yet so we won't know specifics until we start in earnest!

Yes, so this matches what I said. I heard it mentioned sometime earlier in one of the many interviews I watched, but only heard about this in more detail from Aaron a few days ago too. I imagine it would also be easier from the team's perspective if you did not have to create a completely new set from scratch, plus imagine coming up with a completely new set 6-7-8 etc. and balance them all in the arena.

What is a Wave?
Each Illuvitars Wave contains 25 Illuvials. Tier 0 Illuvials will be available in all waves. Each Wave will last 3 months, and there will be 6 Waves in the first set, but we might sell multiple waves at the same time towards the end of the set because we want each set to last approximately 12 months.

6 x 25 = 150 illuvials
Plus the T0 every wave.

After that Set 1 is finished.
