Ok, what are the tips for winning the opening Jotun/ranger mirror round? It's clearly not just RNG, because I'm something like 1 for 30 now in the opening rounds.

With a patch incoming I guess I don't even care about "tips". It's more that I want to understand why I'm losing nearly every single one. I start with the ranger behind Jotun in what seems to be a close copy of the most popular lineup in the back corner (seems to differ by a few hexs from my opponent sometimes, but nothing I see as significant).

The new patch have same issue as beforde. One team is too strong. The peoples simple copy it. Jotun Water or Air + Fighter Air or Watcher = 2 Behemoth Frost = This advantage can you catch up only very difficult. With the time this is very boring.

I test many other teams over the time and lost nearly always.

For this beta time it is okay. For open beta I hope the Illuvium Team balance it out.

Augments don't count twords any hyper. They only add an additional affinity and add the affects to the illuviul that it is on but don't change the illuviuls dominant affinity. The dominant affinity is what affects hyper for both your team and the other

How fast people forget that bloom arcanite was mirrored most of the inferno final 4 matchups each week. Having the best players playing the same build and then being copied isnt anything new. @noble radish I think the way to go is creating a mode with max game variability. A mode containing multiple factors creating actual player decisions each round that have the power to change the entire direction of the game. Something much more impactful than legendary augments. Otherwise the meta gets stagnant pretty fast.

We're about to patch the game in the upcoming hours. It's a patch that contains not just data changes but also some other logic changes. Unfortunately it's going to add a couple of minor bugs that we are in the process of fixing. So there will be another patch that goes out pretty soon after. But we feel it's best to get this out there and take the risk associated with these bugs.

Not ideal news but soon it will be fixed up. Blame me for this. I pushed them hard to make an emergency patch and we had a few too many things going on and it's ended up taking longer. If I'd have let them do it in their own time we would have had a fix sooner.

I'm working on my main that got destroyed down to ELO hell at 300 ELO.. seeing a lot of weird crap around 750 presumably new players.

I've beaten a few Jotun teams without Jotun but I think that's just them making weird misplays.

I just finished my first 15 games this week on my main - post hot patch.

First off, the patch is looking like it worked as intended and has improved gameplay significantly. I still saw frost/behemoth which makes me happy, but I also saw shock/magma/enchanter, invokers, tsunami gauntlet spam, a nature based deck, and my own magma enchanter deck. This was actually the deck I encountered most often.

One thing that will most likely improve over time, but worth pointing out (if any of the team is reading this) - I faced Viper 8 out of the 15 games. I probably don't need to talk much about that other than point it out. I'm sure it will get better as the player base improves.

I did not experience any bugs, but did have very long queue times occasionally - and usually just to end up with Viper again. Now, obviously other people are playing - so maybe some tweaking to the matchmaking algorithm could be done.

I really enjoy playing the game - especially immediately after a patch when everyone is trying to figure stuff out. When the meta is stale and it's mostly about positioning/augments - I don't have quite as much "fun", but still enjoy learning about positioning. It's just more frustrating because things like crit rng and augment rolling become too unpredictable for me.

This form of distribution needs to change. Smurf accounts should be filtered for, removed, a new leaderboard of eligible accounts should be made public. If you have spot 120 on the original leaderboard and there are 21 Smurf accounts taking up spots in top 100, the player should get spot 99 and get rewards for spot 51-100, Otherwise, you Are not distributing those 166 ilv in weekly allocation

In theory, some of the good players: let’s say Viper could create and play 9 Smurf accounts, take all of the top 10 positions, and then only 1 player receives 9 ilv for top 10, his other Smurf accounts don’t get nothing, so only 9 out of the supposed 33 ilv are distributed for top 10 positions?

You can deduce that by yourself. Adorius is the T5 Healer, so it is obviously extremely good at what it does. It's also the only one that gives a heal in "one time" rather than overtime which makes him unique in that sense.

With all this said, Geyyser is just as good but will work in different scenarios because he heals the entire team for an amount overtime, while Adorius will prioritize saving your low HP units making it extremely good to save your tanks and give them a second life.

I think there is a clear disadjustment with tier 0 units. The greater and exalted versions are not worth it in 90% of the cases. I think the team should buff greater and exalted versions so that it is worth paying twice as much as the lesser version. Because afaik only hp and omega scale, but for half the cost you get a class and affinity count and not much less stats.

This is why most players only play lesser versions.

That's not how I would've phrased it. It's a game design choice that is applied to all illuvials where all the Stage 1s atk faster than their stage 2 and 3.
Intent was probably to make the stronger omegas come a bit later than the smaller ones.

Is it perfect, probably not. But in this one I wouldn't call it mistake.

To me the mistake is that lesser versions are 90% of the time better than greater and exalted ones. The team used maths to calibrate this, but sometimes math isn't enough, the in game feel is crucial and this was a miss imho.

The team has done many things well, but I won't fade the mistakes. That's what we are here for, pre beta, testing and giving feedback. Just my opinion.

that's the point you're missing though. is that the unit itself between the Stage 1 and the stage 3, the Stage 3 is strictly better because more HP and better omega.
What makes us choose the small one 90% of the time is the MP management. Because in fact it's stronger to get 3 bulwarks at 25 on your board than 2 at 50.

It was also always intended that higher stage =/= Objectively always better. The goal has always been for there to be some decision making on which one you pick.
