From what I know, it would still be worth it to save space as some buildings can be built once rather than 4 times, leaving more squares for income generating buildings. Plus, it's free to share resources between plots in a mega, so if your individual plots are imbalanced (e.g 1 is heavy hydrogen, 1 has no hydrogen) it would be a big bonus to balance your production
