I’m not a tax expert. And my only real advice is to talk to a tax expert. But here’s my understanding for where I pay taxes.
You would be selling a token that you just minted. So… zero capital gains… which means no actual tax on the sale. But you would get taxed as income for receiving these newly minted fuel tokens at no cost anyways.
Also, fuel tokens should really be on IMX am not ethereum mainnet anyways. So etherscan would not be the place to find them. Immutascan should be the spot.
I dont know on what country you base that assumption on but for most western countries the cost basis for a token you receive is zero correct, but that just means that the full value of the token is taxable either with income tax or capital gains. Regardless in any case it is a taxable event. Either you recieving the token, or you are swapping the token or you are using the token to get a service in the game (realising value)
I already talk to my tax attorney and for the country I live it the cost basis is zero and capital gains needs to be paid on the full token value once it is being sold for fiat or for a product or service ( which OW is) If I would have not sold token I could have argued that it is still in the game ecosystem and therefore not realized value, however if I switch it for ETH in a pool it has been been realized and that argument is not valid. I know this is very individual for everyone, however switching the fuel for another crypto is in most cases a taxable event for almost everybody
I love the game but if I have to pay tax on the revenue I generate before playing the OW I rather sell my land and buy ILV instead and buy the fuel on the open market
I think an argument could be made for the funds being locked in IMX and not easily transferred to fiat. So anything on imx could be seen as in locked “in game ecosystem” until transferred to L1

Sorry I had to look up what you were meaning when asking about layer 3. I’m not a dev and am just sharing what I’ve learned.
From what I can tell, it looks like you are asking if IMX supports Dapps like AMMs.
There are not currently any AMMs operating on imx. But imx is expanding its capabilities to provide for the needs of its gaming partners. The plan is for the 3 different fuel tokens to be in a balancer style multi-asset pool along with ETH, all on IMX network. That’s the plan. Whether or not that will be ready by public beta launch is not yet seen.
IMX does allow contract interactions as seen when loading a D1sk or bonding accessories to illuvitars. The IlluviDex is certainly a dapp. Though it does not have an AMM at this point.
The flow planned for fuel tokens is for land owners to mint and immediately swap as part of the single process to get their fuel tokens out of the #🎮〕illuvium-zero game and onto the blockchain. It’s done this way to activate the DAOs tap of fuel tokens maintaining the proper landowner:DAO ratio (1:19). Then they either have the ETH they want or would have chosen to get fuel into their wallet for use, which would mean that eth was swapped back for fuel. Since all of this would happen in the same moments at the same valuation I don’t see how there would be any increased tax burden for the land owner.
The reality is there’s a lot of the precise technical aspects that might need tweaked to work at peak efficiency. But that is the plan. There are some community ideas about this being discussed in https://discord.com/channels/760344898200666112/1080380994667941888

Currently I think your Zero progress is tied to your account rather than your land. This will change but im not sure if it even matters. after all, we will reset upon season 1 Alpha.
You can now link and unlink wallet addresses to your Illuvium account. But your Illuvitar d1sk buys will reset upon switching. Not sure exactly how this works either.
You can just make a new wallet on your ledger, bridge that to metamask and then link it to your Illuvium account. Shouldnt take too much 🙂

Can we all please hold the team accountable for better communication? it has been almost 3 weeks since we were supposed to move forward on IZ and still nothing at all communicated in terms of progress. Just that is is delayed. They 100% should be addressing this in a live or in announcements as to what they are still working on and how long they anticipate it taking even with rough estimates. I have said before that delays are fine, but bad communication is not. If they actually thought they could release 3 weeks ago you would think the release would have happened by now even with the delay. The land holders literally funded the entire game development thus far. I would imagine the team would be grateful and treat them better. Just my opinion of course.

THEY HAVE BAD COMMUNICATION. Good communication is maintained with the You tubers on minor issues. They think they have good communication. No one here likes what you've written. Fanatically they find everything fine and everything normal. They have no critical sense and are not capable of raising their voices, only to silence the unruly in the chat.
Did you see that there were problems during the first minutes of the launch of Illuvium Beyond, did you see any apology note? The same thing happens with IZ, they are not capable of putting themselves in the shoes of the landowners. How do you want them to put themselves in the shoes of future users?
I believe that there are people who are too authoritarian from above who do not let the heads of communication decide, otherwise they would have told us the truth and would keep us informed. Even if they get IZ up and running, the damage is already done. The problem is not that they have postponed the launch of IZ, the problem is not giving a new date.

there are a few tips on youtube. click the efficiency button and you can see how your are perfoming. roads help with stuff too.

It depends a bit on where your resource nodes are, so most lands are a bit different from one another when it comes to placements
Generally speaking you will want to try to place alternating fuel converters if they have to be withing range of other fuel converters, as the different types affect each other less than having two of the same type within range (i.e. It's better to place them on a pattern of Crypton/Hyperion/Solon/Crypton/...).

spread your converters apart (they interacting with eachother and lovering efficiency)
build your converters close to fuel sites specific to their fuel

Let's go to the next phase. Delaying to gather more info for balancing doesn't make sense since:
1 - even low level land is at end game. You can't gather data when people aren't playing. There is nothing left to achieve (5 illuviums, 15 facts, 15 blueprints).
2 - 1/4 of my lands have almost twice as many resources than they should due to the bug where land was duplicated (and when fixed we kept all intentional and non-intentional resources). This means balancing data will be skewed towards dialling up the difficulty.
Unless they're working on new features, I don't get it.

Is there a date announced for the launch of zero?
We are looking for official communication on camera in the weekly videos they do. It doesn't have to be exact dates but development isn't just a complete roulette wheel. Timelines are possible. They can say we anticipate it taking 3 weeks but it could take as many as 10 if everything goes wrong. The things we need to do before we can release are blank, blank, and blank. We apologize for the delay and for giving false information, we thought this would work differently and just need more data on x or more time to complete y building interaction. Then if it gets done before 10 everyone is happy. It is like building a house, a good contractor will tell you a timeframe well beyond what they actually need and a price with buffer so that if it comes in less expensive or in less time you are satisfied but if things go wrong they have the built in buffer. Not wiping to test the marketplace is a bad reason for 2 main reasons. 1: everyone was expecting a wipe and just built a bunch of scanners and were testing their land so now I doubt many have incentive to go back and start over to test something they won't even be able to use until the second wipe and they get absolutely nothing from now. 2: it again delays something they put a timeframe to and can seemingly meet while still having months to test the marketplace leading to decreased trust in the project. If any previous crypto projects are proof, trust and transparency are key to breaking through in this arena. The team is doing a good job showing leaks and things they are working on randomly but then they miss dates and have 0 communication following for months in the case of the first release of IZ (to be fair they said "it is really close" for about 4 months) and now 3 weeks of 0 communication following the missed wipe. I'm not saying I don't appreciate the work they do or the product. But I am starting to build distrust and I am sure I am not the only one. I want success, therefore I am asking for transparency.
There should be an incentive for holding this land long enough so that delays will be accepted in peace.
Land sale value was roughly 7M in Eth though. The sILV2 made up roughly 90% of all sale value. The sILV2 didnt add any value to the treasury so your 7M should divide by 10 :] still a healthy amount.

Hey folks, sorry we haven't had clear updates, we are a little bit of an tuning point, I've transitioning out of working on Illuvium Zero other than providing technical oversight like I do on all of our projects, but Julien is still quite new, and I expect he is not quite sure on what level of detail should be shared.
Also keep in mind that the wider team has of course been focused on Beyond, particularly for the last few weeks.
@spring mist @cyan bone lets have a call early next week to discuss a regular dev update for Zero, as well as the specific case of an update for the Season 1 launch.
Without stealing Julien's thunder a brief status is:
- Marketplace feature is done, pending me giving a final approval on balance (testing now).
- Team has been getting a lot of stability and performance fixes in as well as some new art and effects.
I'm not going to add anything further on the date, but I will ensure Nick or Julien provides a clear (and more detailed) update early next week.

i feel the problem with illuvium is that they are working on 4 separate games and a lot of other money making nonsense at the same time instead of actually finishing one thing. i think this is why everything in this ecosphere seems all over the place including missed release dates in almost every game they are developing. imho it's a complete mess and it will bite them soon enough. you can put people off for a while, even people who have already invested a lot of money, but at some point they will expect a finished product or leave. i think if much more time is taken here, the game(s) will die before the mainstream even gets to see them. The ideas and what comes out in the end are not innovative enough to disappoint people.
Thank you Johnny, This is exactly what we are asking for. We realize you are people and are working hard to get it done and we do appreciate the efforts and results. I think little things like this succinct update that shows the progress will go a long way to building trust and excitement in the project moving forward. We all want this to succeed and most of us have seen many failed projects, most of which hinged around transparency. I think the 5-10 minutes spent to update is worth 40 hours of work behind the scenes to the investors of the game. Thank you for your hard work and lets make this a habit!
I can definitely see your viewpoint and agree that often times a finished product followed by another is the best way to build a game and audience as they love the first part then have continued bursts of excitement as new things release. I do think the other side can work as well if executed well which as you said has been a bit of a flop thus far. I will say when it comes out it is pretty polished and does look great which is a credit to the team. At least they don't delay and release something that looks super unfinished. Personally I think whichever route the take, communication is what matters. What Johnny just put is exactly what we need. People tend to get much less angry and distrustful when things don't go to plan but they receive clear, periodic updates on progress. The inverse happens when delays occur and everything is quiet. Especially in this space. I truly believe that with hard work and clear communication most problems are not only surmountable but insignificant.

this is probably what happens to me 😄 i'm a bit mad about the whole delay. everyone in the web3 space talking about how everything will change for us players and it'll change the world etc. but in fact there are very few games out there at the moment that are finished and fun to play. illuvium shouldve been the trailblazer for web3 gaming, but i feel with that pace at the moment it wont happen
I think a lot of people are haha Even the positive ones you can see the disappointment and anxiety in the last few weeks. I think if we can ask for what we want (reasonable requests), and the team listens (like Johnny just did), then progress will speed up and much less time will be taken fixing sentiment and focus can be spent building excitement (and the game). It is as much on us to communicate our sentiment as it is on the team. Communication goes both ways. We can ask for better and when we receive better we can thank them for it. The more voices speak their mind the better product we end up with and we all want the best at the end of the day.

to be clear this isn't impacting the delivery, very few people are working on both projects (some art resources are shared ... and Nick), what it does mean is the updates haven't been as clear and frequent, and some decision making has taken a back seat
I'm actually a bit surprised there is so much concern, the game isn't changing, there's one new feature (Marketplace) that is new, everything else is bug and performance fixes
your play experience won't change much at all (other than being smoother due to bug fixes), and we will ensure there is plenty of time to get all the Blueprints for anyone logging in regularly

there are few little things that have been discussed here that could come during Alpha (for example some way to get an extra builder)
I think the concern stems from the past. The land sale to IZ release date was almost 6 months behind the schedule people thought it would be when they bought land and the communication was not great during that time. This delay without good communication brings up old feelings. I think land is fairly expensive for a lot of people it is a significant investment so when things go wrong it can be scary. Obviously people should not invest above their means but many do. I know from your point of view you see all the hard work going in but from the other side we just see a date missed and then silence. The crypto space has a bad reputation, and though it's not your fault I do think it plays a big role in how people think and act.

How many features do you think will be necessary before the game is OK for Open beta? After all, this is gamified staking. As long as you get Fuel (since it is an investors game) does it really matter how intricate gameplay is?
Open Beta is about moving to server side and integrating with the economy/blockchain, I would say the only new feature that is a must is Megacities
Dude. Then im pretty excited over here. Aside from balancing and figuring out the economy and backend stuff. If megacity integration may be the last piece... then we should be pretty close!
also I think you are wrong that is is an investor game, certainly as of right now there is a high investment barrier to entry (compared to most games), but people are spending a LOT of time on it, even without being able to earn, and presumably once earnings are there it will be even more play
the server side move is non trivial, it has to be absolutely rock solid in terms of security, resilience, and scalability
we certainly know exactly what we need to build, and our server side foundations are extremely strong, but its not something that we can rush
The silence refers to the last 3 weeks. The 6 month period did have many leaks of things being made which was fantastic. What we heard from our end however was that it was getting close and coming soon for months but it was always just around the corner. You can review videos from august saying that IZ was close. If you watch scoriox videos there were months where he would say that he thought it would almost definitely release in the next month and that was in september on. He is very active and if he thought that then it shows a communication gap between team and players. That being said I do appreciate your involvement today and I think if we had even just small updates like the one you posted periodically, it would go a long way. I think at least once a week is fair, especially if a date was missed or pushed back without definite time frame. Again we all want the same thing and it is just a matter of communicating clearly and constructively with each other to get the ultimate best outcome.
sure I mean 3 weeks ago we said it would be after Beyond, so I don't know how much updates would have really meant, but agree that just the act of providing more details helps people feel confident in the work being done

I agree that the game is eating up a ton of time of some people. Definitely important to have them play something fun. But im glad that pvp in some galactic theme or such doesnt have to be implemented for the initial launch.

Absolutely, we really do appreciate the hard work and I think the crypto space has really set an uphill precedent for the game. However I think the team is doing a lot more right than wrong and I genuinely believe in the game. I do think the little things in this space will largely set Illuvium apart and lead to greater success for everyone! I am absolutely stoked for PVP and the IZ wipe. And thank you again for communicating and having such a cool head even amidst some negative feedback. I really respect you for this. You give Illuvium a good image and I think you are setting a good example for everyone else.

i got a gameplay question for IZ. i'm scanning with 4 100% scanners for about 5 weeks now and still only found one illuvial. i can't find info on youtube about this. do i only have bad luck or is there something you need to do to find more than one?

the last balance updates around scanners made cross region Illuvial chance around 4%
140 scans should be like 99.7% chance of finding at least one of the cross-region illuvials
if i had to guess i probably have scanned between 120 to 150 times by now.

I feel for those who spent 25k on land, knowing it's about 10k now... I prefer a vote to only make it to 50k lands and (maybe) give the current owners of those 50k the option for the other 50k at a hugely discounted price, and let us decide if it's gonna end up 100k land pieces (meaning we ALL bought the second right for land) or if only 20% do so, we got 60k land...

The alpha testing for Illuvium: Zero is expected to be split into two seasons.
We are currently in Season 0. At the end of this season, all data, including blueprints, will be wiped and reset. The purpose of Season 0 is to allow the development team to fix bugs and balance issues and to prevent any issues that may arise if player data needs to be reset before moving on to Season 1.
After Season 0, the game will move on to Season 1, which will last until the open beta stage. Another data reset is expected at the end of Season 1. However, players will be able to mint the blueprints they researched as NFTs during the last few months of Season 1. Those minted NFTs will persist beyond the Alpha data reset and can be used to craft skins in the Overworld once we reach the Open Beta.
More information on the minting windows will be provided as the game approaches the open beta stage.

Selling 2 of my T2 lands, and buying a T3, feels like having multiple lands will be super time consuming. Thoughts?
Well, at least for the first week or three. Once you're up to 8h+ build timers or have most buildings on high level it's really not that time consuming.
Not at this moment, in the next update it should be possible to use it.
Are t2 that much better then t1 I know t2 has 33.33 % increase dos it add up ?

-Will we be able to buy builders with coins after next reset to test the speed and if yes can we keep them after the final wipe?
-Will we need to buy the builders for each plot
-Will the transaction be on layer 2 IMX ETH and Moonpay or simply with credit card?
-Will you write the IIP for the builder pricing?

That's great Johnny. For example, on my land, every resource and fuel is almost at maxed storage and it took me a week to upgrade one Lab. Meanwhile, I couldn't really play for a week. Will there be activities added so ppl can still engage with the game when waiting for massive upgrades? (having more builders aside)
I think that comment is unfair. And after all it is the Dao, thus the community (since we vote for our representatives in the DAO) who make these decisions. The idea of for example channeling funds from illuvitars sale to have more runway was chosen by the mayority of us... because if there is no money there is no gaming studio, there is no you and me in the community. I think they are very transparent and fair in handling the funds.
oh hadn´t thought of that, great idea... it is true... when you hit 4 digits levels it really starts to slow down, and I think people would gladly pay for having some extra building power at that stage
the plan is to add lots more to do but focus is on getting the Open Beta out with the current feature set, the only feature major thats planned for Open Beta is mega-cities

With that I completely agree. But tbh I think they always hinted at that, that first land owners should be able to achieve their ROI before second 20k plots are sold. Kieran said open beta mid 2023... him being always a bit too optimistic and certainly there will be some delays; my bet would be September. Then about 6 months to actually build up your city to maximum potential... and then actually farming a few months at max efficiency.. I don´t think we will see another land sale until mid 2024. With the sales of illuvitars the team now has runway for another year or two... if they need more funds all they have to do is launch open beta within that runway. No hurry to sell more land.
They’ve also got plans for the plants to spawn small and grow larger over time. And I imagine compost would speed up the growth process. 
If open beta is out before Christmas I am satisfied. But if it comes out in July-August 23 I´ll be extremely happy 🤞🏻
I have been talking to my tax administrator and he cringed when he saw all the illuvitars movements in ImmutableX. So regarding IZ he actually advised me not to sell fuel every day, but rather to accumulate and sell maybe once a month... or every two weeks at most, as ImmutableX is quite limited in providing extensive tax extracts, and a lot needs to be done manually. So my plan is to indeed build at least 8 fuel storage's for each type, that being 16.000 units per fuel at max level (on a T4), I think that will be enough to accumulate for at least 2 weeks, or maybe even a month. Ofcourse even doing that you´ll have to search those moments when demand is highest... so selling every 1st of the month is definitely no good option... will need to be flexible on the one side but try to not make too many sells on the other. (No tax advise btw... every country has different rules of course).

Only thing that occurs to me is to put their lands in different metamask wallets... and just give them the email and password to enter but not the metamask password. That way they can play, but not sell... and me selling it every now and then. And pay them their %.... the tax guy is not going to like that either 😝
I think the scholarship (or whatever word they prefer to use) would in fact be better, as I won´t be paying someone directly... just obtaining less % than 100%. At least I think ... we´ll see how they construct it... and I´ll just have to ask them to refrain from selling more than 2-3 times a month. Ok, I´ll stop with the boring tax talk now 😅

I have been getting a weird error, but only lately; when the materials lab is done investigating you click it and it just disappears. And it is not that you did not find any facts or blueprints.. the level progress bar doesn´t move at all either. It seems to just be lost
Illuvium Zero Tech Update [03/06 - 03/10]
As promised, here are some updates from the IZ tech team:
- The team has been hard at work making sure that the marketplace is a fun new feature for everyone. The main bulk of the work has been mostly on having an awesome UI to browse and create offers, but also time spent on rebalancing the converter nerf we've previously shipped. This took us a while to get right, but we're pretty confident with the end result. Lower tier lands now have an alternative to get resources for which they don't have sites!
- We've got a bunch of new VFX that look amazing!
- We've made a big performance pass, so you should expect faster loading times for all platforms, and way less GPU usage on computers in particular.
- There is also an amazing network stability pass to ensure that you don't lose recent progress.
- We're also shipping a bunch of gameplay and UI fixes! This should all be detailed in the patch notes, but you should see less discrepancies in resource collection rewards in particular.
We're planning on having these updates on the discord channel more regularly. We're making a conscious effort on more transparency as we've been really silent for the past three weeks, and we fully get that this creates frustration in the community. Hope this helps alleviate some concerns, and we'll be back soon with a release date for v0.1.4!

I have a problem, 1 time out of 2 when I launch and validate the actions of my converter / material labs / scan etc... When I come back to the game nothing has actually been launched and so I find myself having waited the indicated time for nothing...
I just did the test with the material lab, I launch them all, disconnect the plots, leave the game. When I turn it back on, the research has not been launched... HELP

After the next release we will be ready for Alpha Season 1, but we will give some time for Marketplace testing to ensure no undetected issues.
After that the season will start. We don't have an exact date but it is imminent, I think the build is going to UAT in a few days.
Blueprints discovered in Season 1 will be mintable.
The actual minting feature won't be available for the entire period, there will be a Minting Window of some weeks (probably 2-4) where you can mint your Blueprints, that window will be at the end of Season 1.
What happens if you find all the blueprints on one land and you move it to a different wallet or you sell it.will you still be able to mint the BP? And is it per account or per plot?
Each land plot can only mint (each blueprint) once during Alpha Season 1
I'd say its safest not to move the asset, but if you did you would either need to move it back to mint, or also get all the blueprints in the second wallet
but only one would be able to mint all Blueprints
(technically its possible to mint some blueprints on one wallet and some on another, as long as they don't overlap, i.e. dont mind the same BP from the same land)

Just to be clear that means if you mint Blueprints and then sell your land the buyer wont be able to build up the plot and mint the Blueprints also. Thats the main reason the Minting window will be short and at the end of the Season. By the time you mint there won't be enough time for the buyer to get Blueprints.

nope, still doesnt work :/ I cleared the content of LocalLow/Illuvium, i reinstalled, nothing; The Player.log file does not contain any relevant information either.
We're focusing on 0.1.4 release at the moment, but as soon as it goes live, we'll have a much clearer roadmap to communicate with everyone.
Just to recap, we want to test marketplace before season 1, so 0.1.4 will give the go to push forward.

Maybe developpers should add a tickbox in the settings to "enable debug" log level, I submitted a bug report but i have almost nothing to provide to help the troubleshooting process. And my issue is not the only one which would benefit from such a feature.

the GPU consumption is fixed in 0.1.4, but we are looking at adding graphics quality options in the next one! Performance is definitely important for us, and we've been optimizing a whole lot of stuff, including visual quality, loading times and overheating issues. You should notice a nice performance bump with 0.1.4 but we plan to go further

I found a bug while undergoing alpha testing, I noticed that when converting Solon to crypton, nothing happened, I just burned out Solon. And then passively once every two days, these assets also do not appear

Nothing wrong extending the f2p experience and make more game oriented capabilities and let aside the investors.
I'd have to disagree with that. T1 price floor is 500-600$, the entire point of buying T1 is being able to farm fuel and biodata for the cheapest there is, feels counter intuitive to allow any players to also contribute to biodata stocks. Especially since any player could use a T0, even if there's 20k lands, there could be 100k T0. Personally, I don't think making T0 be any lucrative is a good idea, the whole point of plots are being pretty expensive with a chance of money back. Whereas T0 would just flunk that.
Playing T0 lands is purely for fun. If people want to earn money they need to invest money first. Ponzi economics of Axie and the Axie clones is not sustainable. It doesn't matter how small you make the earning, it's just a bad idea.
One thing i was wondering about is whether there needs to be more use for elements in late game. Once your land is fully established it seems like there really is very little value in extracting elements any more. A small amount is used for scanners and fuel extractors, but much less than was previously needed to upgrade buildings. Should there be something new for 'late game' that uses up relatively large amounts of elements?
Totally agree on elements. But we should not forget with more builders it might be well balanced. I also think scanning in higher stages is more expensive, is it?

Right now we are using so little on the scanners because we have been keeping them at Tier1. I’m sure someone has upgraded theirs but I would like to see how much elements(and probably fuel) it takes to scan and research Tier 5

Why do we care about f2p
Because if the implementation is done correctly then f2p will use microtransactions and bring more revenue to the DAO.
I like that answer, but makes balance difficult.. will need to be an entirely different ecosystem than p2p land.. just not sure about the market here, its like play money poker but you can pay to for more chips but cant cash out? Or pay for an avatar that only works in play money land?
Just seems like a waste of resources.. it sounds nice to think this game will be huge but the better approach will be to target ppl already onboarded to crypto who know nft's etc and know 500 for a basic land isnt silly.. all 'mass' gamers will think thats ridiculous and appealing to them is a pain .. yes the model works for mobile gaming but this is different

Illuvium overworld can onboard the masses, ilv zero might trick a few into making bad financial decisions by spending money on the free/demo version... just this whole side economy thing doesnt make any sense... sure have a free version but dont waste team resources vs getting the real game out
If the only argument is microtransactions for free players, im having trouble seeing who pays for anything in the demo/f2p version.. but maybe they do.. getting them into the pay version should be the goal though.. maybe letting them use receipts of spent f2p micros as coupons for the real game

There is no practical difference between playing a T0 land and playing a web 2 game.
If ILZ tier zero is fun to play, then people will play it without needing or expecting any financial rewards.
If it isn’t, they won’t.
Why do people pay for micro transactions in web 2 games?
Answer that question and you have the answer to what is needed for micro transactions in ILZ tier 0.
Web 3 gaming was: join the Ponzi scheme early, use poor people to generate profits, get out before it all collapses. Money for nothing.
Web 3 gaming will be: spend money to earn and own things in game, that you can later sell to other people for real money.
For tier 0 to earn things that have real monetary value, there needs to be an upfront investment cost.
So it would be tier 0.5, rather than tier 0. I doubt the team or the council has a desire to spend time creating a 0.5 tier land category right now.
I never personally spent money in any mobile game i played because i knew going in there would be mechanics that were trying to entice me but I just wanted something to play to kill time on my phone.
But I also understand that a ton of people that play city builder games get impatient with waiting for anything and spend the $1.99 x number of times to get to keep playing rather than waiting.
As @sharp elk said, IZ f2p should just be a f2p web2 version of IZ. They could advertise daily microtransaction deals, like most games do, but also have advertisements for floor land plots and Overworld.

The difference between F2P and T1+ plots is that T1+ produce blockchain assets (Blueprints/Fuel) that can be sold. So you're correct on that front.
I'm not sure how that puts F2P plots at an advantage though.

Data in IL:Z is stored locally, and periodically pushed to the server. There's been a few issues where data from one client doesn't get pushed to the server, hopefully it gets a pass in the next update.
As far as things you could do now, make sure your clients are both updated (on desktop and laptop), and log out of the game when you're finished a session. Remaining logged in seems to be a big cause of progress not being saved across clients.
I suppose you could view it that way. F2P plots are currently the equivalent of T2, in terms of the number of resource sites and the production capacity of plot. They are "better" than T1 for making faster progress playing the game.
With the caveat that they don't produce blockchain assets.

In the larger Illuvium ecosystem, there are many potential ways to earn.
I think zero is not single game(I know zero links with overworld)and main game is overworld.
Zero is like sub-element of overworld.
Normal player think “main” is overworld. “Sub” is zero.
So, to strengthen character in overworld they play zero.

Treating alpha games as finished products, on different platforms, is not necessarily a great way to do analysis.
At a core level, I do agree. I've given my thoughts on potential solutions to this a fair bit. I'd like the economic end-game for land owners to be aligned with the end-game for F2P players, and I think there are valid ways to accomplish that goal.
On the other hand, I acknowledge that IL:Z is under development. It is not a finished game, and the systems are still being worked on. It's also not a full fledged PC game, it's a mobile game. It's not gonna be Age of Empires.

Can we agree that IL:Z and Overworld need some time to become competitive with Web 2 games, but Arena and the Illuvials will be top notch soon? If so, then we should not worry too much as long as both IL:Z and Overworld allow for catching Illuvials. I believe we can generate huge demand for Illuvials from collectors and from esport gamers with Arena.
Content comes with time too. I'll point out that literally every PvE city builder I've played has a cap on content though. There's only so much content that can be provided in PvE games in the genre. I've played a lot of complicated PvE city/base builders, and some of them get close to 1k hours of content, but those are super complicated, deep base builders for PC, and aren't widely adopted because they are NOT easy to play. They are something I enjoy, but not something I'd want the DAO to develop.

I'll also note that this is just an idea. There are other ideas out there too. I just particularly like aligning the end-game incentives for F2P players and land owners. Developing 2 games within a single game to cater to 2 demographics who don't have aligned incentives sounds really messy to me, and a lot of the suggestions have been around developing a separate end-game for F2P players. At that point, I honestly think just making a different game would be better.
Doing one thing really well >>> doing 2 things ok. Like you said, games need to stand out, particularly games in a relatively diluted market. If our hook is ownership, we should lean into that. If it's a better F2P end-game, we should lean into that. Either way, we should lean instead of spreading things out.
i just want to say i m pretty disappointed that i can't log in ILV0 with desktop ... and no pinned message on this bug that many are encounting right now ... it seems nobody is on this and nobody cares about this and well ... it doesn't matter cause nobody still playing ILV0 ...
It might be a dilution, but if we grow the player base by making millions land owners and increase the fuel percentage for OG holders, you might make more money from your land.

The base of the argument is that 5% of 100k is less than 4% of millions. I see your point though, and there are probably solutions to the problem (could be something like 1% of revenue going to the F2P plots, on top of the existing 5% for land owners).
Adoption has always been absolutely critical with the way the tokenomics are set up (both for land owners and ILV holders) - Pursuing mass adoption is something both groups should advocate for.
I fully agree. I see so many community members thinking about how to increase their income. It is fair, because we all bought Illuvium assets and want a return. But for that to happen we need mass adoption and a DAO with enough runway for years.
I feel like allowing f2p players to wager elements in arena would be a great hook for them. But i know there were issues around legality for wagers

Fuel doesn't have to be the solution. It's just my preference to leverage ownership as the hook without entirely redesigning the game for F2P players. Currently the things you can own are Blueprints and Fuel, within IL:Z. There could be more things players can own.
There have also been suggestions around things like Soulbound NFTs for F2P players, etc. I'm of the opinion that people won't particularly care about those things - They are almost entirely analagous to web2 structures, where you don't really have ownership.
This also comes down to whether the intent is for IL:Z to fulfill its' necessary role in the Illuvium ecosystem, or whether the goal is for it to be mass adopted. It would be great if it could do both, but it doesn't need to do both. I'm also okay with IL:Z primarily being for landowners. That's an acceptable solution as well. It can still be a fun experience for that subset of people, but we should acknowledge that the subset we're talking about is capped at 100k (and likely less than that, because the reality is that many people own multiple plots).
also agree on you saying the need to be closer to metaverse gaming than mobile, and that bringing f2p into the meta-economy is important.. but handing out money via fuel doesnt gameify anything
The discussion was never around "giving" people things. The discussion was around allowing non-land owners to incrementally purchase a plot that produces assets (as opposed to an upfront purchase of a plot). People are much more capable and willing to spend small amounts over time than spend a large amount upfront.
It wouldn't be "giving", it would just be incremental ownership.
You know I'm pretty strictly opposed to free lunches, but we should keep an open mind with regards to how people actually spend money in mobile games.

FWIW the pricing I listed there is just for example purposes, obviously it would need a more data driven approach. A tangent to that idea is that the total production of "Upgraded" plots could come out of the existing supply of land. For example, reduce the supply of land by 20k or 40k, assign that production to "Upgraded" plots, and treat it distributively.
That causes adjacency issues in the overall land map, which is why I didn't suggest it. But it does fulfill the requirement that land owners aren't negatively impacted over the long term, in terms of adding Fuel production outside of what 100k plots could produce.
I read through it blickter. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't but it seems like a step in the wrong direction as soon as F2P and P2P are sharing the same playing field. Meaning integrated maps.. f2p and p2p sharing same economy
Like hamster said, they will be frustrated.. ppl hate whales in mobile games, they'd hate seeing the massive whales in ILV. just keep the player pools segregated. No one understands the economics and trying to make a complicated system to bring them in just doesn't work, its attacking the issue in the wrong direction

Yeah, it's a way to leverage the idea of ownership so that non-land owners (not really F2P as it would require paying) can experience ownership as well, on a reduced scale.
I see where it works though, giving them a goal of the 20 upgrades.. but then they are only a t1? and t1's can't compete anyway, just sounds super frustrating
if they work their ass off and get into the real game and still produce slowly? or after 20 upgrades they do compete with t2's? they are paying for the upgrades to become a t1.. each upgrade would need to be 1/20th of t1 floor.. still a lot to ask for f2p
I just reckon that someone who had spent $200 over the course of 6 months would be much more intrigued by the premise of ownership, and probably more likely to participate in other ownership (whether that be T1+ land, or assets in Oveworld etc.)
All the tuning would have to be determined post-launch, it would be super important to get that part right, and I couldn't say either way exactly how much would be the right amounts (both in terms of cost to fully upgrade, and final production values when fully upgraded).
I'm kind of viewing as normie accessible mobile gateway ownership. It's not hugely impactful (nor should it be), but it's still AN ownership experience.
You actually get something for what you pay, which is fundamentally different than existing titles.
what i do like is f2p gets to keep their progress, which is everything metaverse stands for.. and they get value on their money spent in the same way a coupon on f2p microtransactions toward P2P would work.. no coupon needed, they just become p2p

Yeah definitely, and none of it has been vetted by the team. There are likely issues from a tech perspective, and there's the issue that fractional land would cause with the overall land map. I like the core idea though, to allow onboarding into ownership in a less expensive way. That was many people's issue (mine included) with things like Axie, and likely with land as well, for people who aren't actively involved in crypto. Hundreds or thousands of dollars of upfront cost to participate is a barrier that we could overcome with IL:Z.
People are provably down with $10 MTX though.
i think you have to do it as alternate dimension, the fractional land/finding way to integrate into existing map isnt necessary
And they produce fuel, which they can use in our other games and automatically opens up the whole Illuvium metaverse for them and it is money easily spent, because they „printed“ it.
argument simply, f2p whales shouldnt share fences with p2p whales.. its a whole different dynamic.. from the dopamine/satisfaction standpoint, if someone is going to whale their time/money into a game, they need to see the results by looking around the map and leaderboards and see they are doing much better than the populace
just seems easier too. make a new map, fill it with all t0's, give a path toward becoming a t4
Yeah exactly, and if someone really wants to whale, well, there's land for sale on the Illuvidex. I think you're right that not integrating it into the overall land map is the correct choice.
yep and if you want to skip all that go buy a t4, but its a different map
the "skip" isnt skip the work, its skip the work and microtransactions that equate to a floor t4 or however you end up fractionalizing the fuel output
the economics there are easy, but necessary
just as long as this doesnt become a sneaky play to earn mechanic it sounds good to me
subsidizing a p2e economy sounds ok, but gets complicated.. deflating land prices by giving a path toward becoming a t4 through pure work isn't okay unless clear future growth economics necessitate it.. i just dont see it.. get away from the ponzi imo
if people pay an amount through microtransactions that is equivalent to what someone would pay for a real land/fuel output, then it works

Interesting idea. I like this incremental purchase hook for F2P, and the idea of this creating more players, and aligning the direction of the game vs creating 2 separate end games. I would like to see it have it's own % set aside though to honor the 5% promised to P2P plots. also for lore reasons seems they would need a separate map not exist and pop up next to P2P plots
1% set aside probably does it, and allows for microtransactions to be 1/20th of actual land prices.. which is reasonable too

Over the long run the token will have so many revenue options coming in, vs land is fixed at 5% and unlikely to change so adding a sperate small percentage to this would make sense vs making the current lands fixed pie smaller. the adoption gained and other revenue sources over the long run seems to me like a small percent set aside to this would not even register
Yeah, it kind of splits the difference for the greater good as well. More players = good for everyone. Additional source of Fuel production = small negative for land owners. Small % of revenue diverted from ILV holders = small negative for ILV holders. Overall positive for everyone.
At any rate, this is just an idea, and likely needs to be fleshed out more. Glad to have a conversation about it though!

Hello everyone! I play illuvium zero since 1 month and today when I lauch the game i have lost 40 levels... Sorry but it's a shame, i have lost 2-3 level per constructions, all my ressources, all my fuel.. Be careful the save it's not done correctly.. Sorry but buy a land for 600 dollars for play a game which doesn't save the game it's a real problem.. Someone have the same problem?..

Can you help me understand how to build the ability to get all 5 biodata to get the 5 illuvial types of bluepritns since most of us only get 1 type illuvial per land?
There is a small percentage chance of getting a cross regional illuvial on any plot. Earlier on I think the drop rates were higher and they are tweaking the algorithm for scanning cross regional illuvials (That's what Alpha is for, right?).

The alpha testing for Illuvium: Zero is expected to be split into two seasons.
We are currently in Season 0. At the end of this season, all data, including blueprints, will be wiped and reset. The purpose of Season 0 is to allow the development team to fix bugs and balance issues and to prevent any issues that may arise if player data needs to be reset before moving on to Season 1.
After Season 0, the game will move on to Season 1, which will last until the open beta stage. Another data reset is expected at the end of Season 1. However, players will be able to mint the blueprints they researched as NFTs during the last few months of Season 1. Those minted NFTs will persist beyond the Alpha data reset and can be used to craft skins in the Overworld once we reach the Open Beta.
More information on the minting windows will be provided as the game approaches the open beta stage.

It’s alpha testing. So yeah we experience bugs and report them so the team can build a game that is not broken. We test out game loops and give feedback so the team can build a game we enjoy.
It is definitely a practice round for the real thing.

Its been in several news articles, email blast, and regularly mentioned here, including the very frequently shared timeline image. The website where the download is also says: "This Alpha includes a fully functioning version of Illuvium: Zero, without permanent progress connected to the blockchain.", right next to where it says that is the FAQ button which explains details of resets.

I don't know if we will be able to get this disclaimer in for Season 1 reset, I believe we have a final build ready, and even though the change would be tiny, it would mean going back through QA... but we can add it it for the next reset when we move to the Open Beta.
sure, np. Process was just do normal city building until you had enough resources to build scanners. Then just build 8-10 scanners in a ring around the edge of the city to prevent interfering with each other and reducing the efficiency. Then just had them all running all the time until the 5 biodata was acquired. Then strategy flipped to getting the blueprints. So scrap the scanners, to make room for just building 20-30 of the Material Labs. Put them around a power station and make a nice ring of roads around them to reduce the research time and then just have them all churning out research as much as possible and eventually you get them all. Im not saying its easy, but if you focus your build strategy, its doable without too much pain. Good luck.

For all those who were not aware it will be reset (not once but twice until open beta)… this is a game but you paid for your landplot, so it is an investment above all. And if you invest in something do you not try to learn all you can about it? Besides, The resets were not exactly the small print… it was mentioned everywhere many many times.

In my opinion in this tab asking and offering should swap places. I can see that you want to say one slot offers this and wants that for it but since I am the buyer here I see it as I want something (which should stand on the right) and I am willing to give something (standing on the left).
At the moment both tabs (uplink and my offers) use the viewpoint of the seller which makes perfectly sense under "my offers" because I am the seller but in the "uplink offers" tab I am the buyer and therefor I would like to see the trading out of the buyers perspective under that tab.
So there no wipe??,, is these the stage now where we keep the blueprint we find?

It depends on how far is the other plot away you trade with.
especially since this is meant to be for early game to help balance unbalanced plots where actions can take minutes
transit time maybe should scale with amount of resources being transported. makes sense, it's a lot easier to courier one little envelope than an entire train's worth of cargo

biggest problem with transport time depending on distance right now is the UI gives you no indication the time differs based on distance, and doesn't tell you how far each plot is.
