When @hallow pewter joined the project, he inspired us all to reach worlds best. This guy is a freak of nature when it comes to complex VFX. He may be the best of all time.

He worked on Rhamphyre and gave us an incredibly iconic shot in the first trailer but even gods bleed lol.

10 months ago we made a call to hold off releasing what was at the time an artistic disaster. It was so far below our visual standard that I actually felt sick after seeing the alpha video released.
BUT, we have turned it all around and now I'm confident the community will love what our team has done with Zero!

Procedural wind now working with our physics plants due to @neat karma figuring out how to blend between the two.
Weeks ago this was a "Maybe we can solve it in the future"

This is a Tier 1 land Illuvium. There are 3 Hydrogen mine and 1 Hyperion mine. The hydrogen mined was converted to Carbon and Silicon. It accumulate fuel in a park of silos. The Nexus stage is 4, it need one Crypton for update to Nexus 5. Claim Hyperion and convert 1 hyperion to 2 Crypton, but must wait 18h for obntain 2 crypton.

When I reached out to @winged wasp , he had zero character work on his portfolio.

During this period, we were desperate to expand quickly and it was extremely hard to find suitable artists capable of doing clean and highly skilled stylised art for the project.

To make it worse, the games industry was rapidly absorbing all the best AAA artists due to covid...

I was praying he'd join us but like nearly all scenarios with our team, I underestimated his ability and we hit the jackpot when he agreed ๐Ÿ˜

This dude is a BEAST and you can thank him for bringing to life so many of our beloved Illuvials.

Florian was overloaded with work for over 18 months straight and it's amazing to have a fresh pair of eyes solve the major issues with things like Illuvial and Locker storage!

Another prototype coming together for an overworld mechanic by @plain sun

In case you didn't know, Dimensional stability isn't just a feature in encounters but in the entire region itself.

Cross a mining threshold and you'll be fighting the clock to collect as much as possible before the region collapses.

fall behind and you'll be reset to the obelisk killing your chances at maximising loot.

This means you're gonna HAVE to learn how to use all the movement mechanics and level pathing.

@jagged drift and @coral raven are busy prototyping new UI elements for the overworld that make seeing character stats and loading your deck far easier.
From the start I wanted the deck system in the UI to be global and something that made sense in the overworld and the auto battler.
It's amazing to see this stuff come together but in the future all the Illuvials you load will instead be the 4k NFTs we have shown on show case

By this point, I'd hope everyone in the discord is well aware that we never stop improving but sometimes the rate of improvement rapidly accelerates stirring up a lot of excitement in myself and the team!

I mentioned on showcase that @restive flint was busy creating scripts and the workflow to make Illuvium the first properly color calibrated game in history using accurate color theory a few months ago...

We had to wait until PB2 was launched to do this but now that it is out you will start to see Illuviums graphics and overall look and feel morph into something truly unique and in my opinion, revolutionary.

So you may be asking, what the hell we actually doing? It's a complex answer and one that requires an in depth interview beteen marc and myself that will be coming in a future show case but the answers are coming.

Our team is next level, don't forget it!

-Taiga Boreal is being updated to take advantage of the sliding mechanic
(Remember, all Taiga updates are work in progress from a lighting perspective and the level will completely change in a couple of months in terms of graphics/looks)

@knotty robin has been experimenting with NEW augment icons!
The old ones sucked ass (my fault) and people really struggled to adopt them but by going to a more TFT approach, I believe that will all change.

Modeling on various in game assets like Leviathan Eyes and mountains for Taiga is also progressing nicely.
As the modeling team frees up, we will work on more specalised assets that really make each region be remembered

16 components with 3 stages in total.

For the 1100th time, all NFT's will be animated and 3D eventually. I can't seem to get passed the idea of NFTs being a cash grab until there is enough effort put into them to warrant being a digital asset.

  • Fur and groom for our NFTs is steam rolling along.

Every collectible in this game is a work of art, iterated on multiple times until we get close to perfection.

It's the only way any game or project is going to make digital collecting future proof and avoid the embarrassment we've witnessed universally across the entire space and even then, is it even possible?

Deep down, for me personally, that is the question I've always wanted an answer to.

As I transitioned from a kid on a playground trading stupid cards to a nerd on the computer creating art, nothing ever replaced that love I lost.

Almost all of our Illuvials, Rangers, Drones, Skins and weapon assets are now ready for mobile.

I'm Super proud of what we've been able to do in the last 6 months.
We've basically took every asset, put it under the loop - optimized the hell out of it, and by doing so made a mobile-ready version for each of it.
We now have Cinematic assets, Hero assets, optimized assets and mobile assets.
I'd call it.. Futureproof.

If youโ€™ve got the GPU for the next gen hair we are preparing, I wouldnโ€™t even classify them as game models any more.

You might think weโ€™re crazy to go to this level of detail, and we are, but the goal was the best stylised graphics in any game, ever. Itโ€™s not up to me to decide if we achieve that but weโ€™re definitely going in the right direction.

I hope when you all eventually load the game up that you will be too immersed to care about this work weโ€™ve put in and just appreciate the beauty of the characters on this world.

The NFT art pipeline is complete.

From day 1, all the game assets were constructed with cinematic quality textures.

Our characters have displacement maps too (which means one day, when tessellation in games is more performant, we will flip a switch and get all the details from the sculpts the guys work so hard on)

You might not realise why this is a big deal, but it means when we work on offline cinematics, like Blizzard or Blur do, we can literally just use the game assets instead of completely redoing them.

We review and spot the biggest weaknesses with content we put out. The gameplay leak revealed the scorpion disappearing off the board, so @hallow pewter comes out to play.

So after the latest announcement, I just want to thank the community on behalf of the team. Your understanding means a lot!

After speaking to @fringe crescent about what the trailer was missing, Things made a lot of sense and I'm glad we made the decision.

There's so much weird and special hype surrounding the project now so like @west tide said, we're expanding and creating a narrative driven trailer, devoid of marketing bullshit that will stand the test of time.

I'd like to thank the Shapeshifters, the world renowned VFX studio that is helping bring this trailer to life

This next 7 weeks is going to be a slog but I know we're going to blow you away!

I know this looks good, BUT and trust me when I say this, it's early days...We have a ton of assets being worked on to build out the complexity and detail of the environments.

Our environment team is absolutely blasting stuff out and we are working with some of the best outsource studios in the world to speed things up also.

@everyone As promised, here is the pre Alpha footage of Illuvium: Zero. We hope you like seeing the progress. Remember this was made in less than 7 weeks.

You can see that the buildings are fully modelled in 3d and then rendered to 2d isometric view. There are still lots of things to add and tweak but it should give you a good idea of what the IZ team has been up to.

We're confident that with time our mini game will be as good or better quality than many projects' main games.

Kieran and I have reached out to over 200 artists now and multiple outsource studios and have many meetings lined up over this week and next.
Very promising and I can't wait to build our environment team to where it needs to be.

@Here Hunters!! Prepare yourself for the survival mode!

**The Room is dark, electric sparks and cracks flash, lighting up some parts of this large open space youโ€™ve walked into. As you climb over a pile of wreckage and make your way towards the middle, the ground starts to rumble, and make odd beeping sounds. Hexagonal light flash up underneath you and the 6 corners around you start to light up, with pillars rising from the ground.

A giant G4udi Drone hangs above the board, held by wires and strong metal cables.

His interface lights up, and error codes project all over. A deep, loud siren like beep is broadcasted throughout the arena youโ€™ve found yourself in. The pillars on the side are suddenly activated. A forcefield like fence is cast between them and the first few rows of hexagonal tiles that make up the board flash red and turn purple.**

@here How do we feel about Friday being Game Design leak night?! Today I've got a another two Basic synergies for you and a mini-competition. Whoever @'s me first in the Character leaks channel with with my favourite game and another affinity/class. Gets that affinity/class leaked! @here I tell you what, when Aaron first told me we were going ahead with Illuvium Zero, I thought to myself wtf and omg.
I thought how are we gonna be able to do so much hard surface?
I also thought our main game might take a hit.

Thank God for @livid vessel though cause he has not only absolutely annihilated this giant mountain of work, but done it faster than I even thought possible.

IZ isn't meant to be some AAA mobile game of the year but the team has put true love into it and when the terrains are added in I think it's gonna look awesome.

Take a look at a big dump of work from Kantemirs last couple of months and give the crazy Russian a like.

Abyssal Basin - ** To the South East we find Slough. An unforgiving, giant, hot, murky, unpleasant swamp filled with giant โ€˜Titanicusโ€™ mushrooms overwhelming the horizon. It's ludicrous the detail @hallow pewter goes to with his VFX work.
I've scanned art station 5x over and I'm yet to see anyone who has gone as next level as him.

Finding the entrance to 'Soka's Garden' in the Crimson Waste could be quite the hassle it seems! @here Concept art by @grim maple

But once you find the entrance and pass through the tunnel, you'll see a beautiful Garden, Soka's Garden.
