IMX has partnered with Moonpay to accept credit cards. The ETH will still be stored in a wallet housed in IMX is how it will work. For the end user it should be a more or less mainstream experience. Not sure if it is that smooth yet, but that's the goal

It's unbelievable and for me heartbreaking that especially the people which I thought should profit the most from NFT gaming don't really want or understand it right now. And the arguments are always the same too much electricity costs for the blockchain, only the rich profit and can be successful in gaming and boring games.

But I think with ETH 2.0, an asset pool for scholars, Illuvium and tournaments for people with low tier Illuvials we will be able to proof them wrong in everything they think.

The chance of illuvium is to position the project to educate people. It’ll be tricky.

But esport and prizes for players will help … money will attract…. Sad but true….

I don't even think it's only about the money. As important for gamers is that a lot of people want to play competitive and they want to be the best at what they do. Once they are successful they want to show it to all their friends and hear from them there is no chance beating you.

So I think what is very important that there is a high training curve. The longer you play and train with your illuvials the better you should get. So that there will be a big skill gap between newcomers and professional player. A professional player should be able to beat a much higher tier team. with skill and knowledge.

At least this is how I always liked to play games, you want to get to the top 100 with consistency and hard work.

Tbh I think that gamefi projects like Polemos and other up and coming projects will lead the charge in educating the mainstream

I think with 150 and later even more this will be the case anyway, as you need to know so much about each Illuvial and all the possible combinations, which will be endless.

I fully agree with that. My note on the prizes is a bit like « jump starting » a machine, where you’ll bring in person a that are no convinced because « crypto » but will quickly be sucked into the game. So yes, my note wasn’t clear on the exact way I see it.

Polemos also have a key of success if they can educate and having enough materials to onboard and engage as many people as they can. Sascha answered 16 of my questions in the last ama so definitely I believe they are on a right track.

That's one of the focuses there. Given everything I've seen, they will be able to do it well and I'm pretty sure it's being planned out on the backend as we speak. Won't happen for Illuvium launch, but according to whitepaper it should come out by Q3 of this year.

The game have inspiration from Pokémon. Idk what you know about Pokémon but some stages are just….really bad compared to the stages before. Like, Remoraid is a green ish fish and becomes a red octopus, Octillery just to mention one. I think Illuvium is killing all lines and their stages

You should look the remoraid and octillery thing up there is a funny story behind it. Remoraid should have been more like a swimming gun and octillery was meant to be a tank that could come out of the water to attack. 😂😂 The Plans were canceled because it is a childs game after but the design was only changed slightly but with no connection to each other now 😂

Its not drastic, umbre looks dark because the card implies a phantom lurking in the shadow. Umbre is actually greyish in color due to the exoskeleton that covers the fur. Actually, in all illuvial that were leaked so far, umbre is the only illuvial that has a different card design which at first i didnt like cause i want uniformity but it what it is.

I think it's the stacked Synergy Effect of Conflagration (is this too long for Grant 🤔 ):

debuff their target on their first Attack after Casting an Omega. The debuffed target will take extra damage per Fire Count, and allies will get healed when attacking that target per Nature Count. Debuff duration is scaled by Conglagration Count.

Augments are NFTs. You craft them from various things you find in the overworld.

Then you slap them on an Illuvial Combat Unit (doesn’t work on Rangers, duh) and you boost up their abilities.

One augment might give fuller lips, another might cause a heal over time to Confidence OnRejection.

Yes. But as always I really hope people are getting this: In our game you will sometimes pay money for things that you cannot trade. The reason? It’s totally unsustainable to think that everything can be traded. There must be things that you pay for that don’t count towards your cost base or revenue.

The other important thing is these have to be things that you want to buy just because you enjoy the game.

Core things you can buy and trade. Of course. But there will be secondary things that you buy just to say “fuck it, that’s hilarious”.

For example I’ve had many people DM to suggest if they buy a ticket to see an Illuvium Movie they should get to sell that ticket after. Ah…no. That’s magical thinking.

Not to begin with. It's also a tremendous amount of work, especially for our long-term plans. Adding procedural textures to them can work, but it messes with many things, especially the game's performance. So at this stage, it is not likely to be something you see for a long time.

I think this is just unnecessery because of the random base stats . People care more of the power stats than an illuvial with a certain type of pattern but having a complete shit stats. Why would i care of ur unique pattern illuvial when my illuvial is also different but mine has max stat while urs is shit. Besides, we already have holo/dark holo to cover the uniqueness. Then there are tons of things that are more needed in game even if the game is out 5 years from now.

If illuvial lines have all the same baseline stats then people will look for uniquie patterns to differentiate their market value. In illuvium people will value illuvials base on stats unless its a holo.

The goal is to have the highest quality AAA game that’s FUN, and can be played /scaled to most machines. And do it 5 years faster and with 5 X less artists than major developers. So Some things need left on the table for the time being.

Alo, when we see the leaks where Mozart mines resources, they just seem to shine bright and become small balls of light. If the plant then dies/disintegrates, it would seem that there is a limit to these resources. But if they simple open up and give their "treasure" then we know we can probably come back to it like it's a renewable resource.

Hey did you see the last leak? They are making an Illuvial called Pokemon Arceus and decided to stick to the theme. You can count the pixel of the 3D model. It only renders once you are at 10meters from it and the animations are buggy as fuck. I can’t wait for it.

Yeah, maybe it woud be something like each area has like 10-20 different spots so then you can make a round during a loop while looking for illuvials and resources. Though that would make it a bit more botable/farmable on the resources side.

Does anyone have specific ideas on optimal affinity combinations based on what’s been released so far? I know it’s somewhat speculative but curious what people’s thoughts are.

There are not any that specifically work together. Playing things that have similar basic synergy components is how you achieve the maximum board power. Playing lots of Fire Illuvials, (Inferno, Magma ect) naturally work well together. But this comes with the big downside of that you can be completely countered and Water Illuvials that your opponent might play will be significantly more powerful.

So more power + more risk.

Playing a comp with very little to no synergy overlap = less power, but less risk.

When you are doing the artwork, do you try and choose a style of music that is related to the Artstyle (so if you are doing futuristic artwork, you go for futuristic sound music), or do you intentional listen to something opposite, so that it may offer a counter balance and thus sometimes find yourself listening to classical piano?

or do you just go for music that is more to suit your current mood?

Do you feel that the music influences your decisions on Colors, or Sharpness of Edges, or how many polygons you allow on a surface?

Its really nice if it's the leviathan to incentivize spenders and will encourage people to have the best illuvials possible. Though it has cons like p2w but I think it is not also fair that individuals would just acquire stage 1 illuvials and reach top 100 in rank arena and enter the tournament.

There is still a need to incentivize people in leviathan arena and i see the point that leviathan is not the gateway to ener tournament so how about leviathan illuvial as rewards😅. top 100 will be rewarded with stage 1 leviathan illuvial, top 1 will acquire the stage 3 version and then everyone who particiated at end season will have leviathan illuvial fragments as consulation🤭. Liviathan illuvials are like legendaries and their stats are all in max and can only be acquired through the leviathan arena. How about that?

On the team level for sure, but the teams are not hard set and as a team member u can always go to better teams when you are good. If the tournament was played the leviathan way, there could also be teams that provide u with a great collection but that limits the pool of people that can compete.

If pro level in MTG means having to spend hundreds / thousands, well that's in no comparison to a hyped crypto game in which great singular cards alone will be in the 100s of thousands if not millions.

So I do think that people need to spend money for a collection in order to compete, but in the similar price range as MTG (like for example 1-5K for some tier 1s), because we have to consider that in a crypto game prices will go crazy.

If the tournament is played in ranked mode and the ranked mode equalises all Tiers, then people with a big tier 1 collection will have the same or nearly the same chance to win the competition, which would also be a great marketing move.

You can but tier 5 illuvials will always be stronger compared to tier 1 so you'll be in big disadvantage not having any tier 5 but in a match you cant deploy all tier 5, tier 1-4 are also needed because of the cost and limited cost energy.

You see illuvials have random stats but in rank arena its standardize which means even though you have a max stat illuvial example 200 atk speed but the baseline stat is 150 then you will play the said illuvial with 150 atk speed, the same with everyone.

Hi Aaron, from this statement, is it correct to assume that for someone to be a part of the biggest tournaments they would need to garner X amount of points based on the placements in smaller more frequent tournaments? Though this is no problem to competitive eSports players dedicated to grind these smaller tournaments but will there be some sort of system to allow more casual players to participate in these bigger tournaments? An example here would be placing in a semi-major tournament like a monthly or even a quarterly tournament?

I find that having to grind points the way F1 racing is doing it seems to alienate anyone who is not a pro-player or backed by a guild/whale. At least if certain spots are claimed by placing in semi-major tournament that player wouldnt need to continue grinding and would give opportunity for others a chance to qualify.

Another way to qualify is placing top 5 or 10 every month from standard rank mode.

Seems fair, what I hated the most about TFT Esport is that most tournaments were actually invitational tournaments. Only famous streamers would get invited for most of them and many players, who were better, never had the chance to compete and actually earn any prize pool. This at least changed recently, but for 2 years it was completely unfair for top players who were skilled but not famous. There was nothing more demovating that try harding the game, hitting high rank and in the end to watch some "influencers" being invited in big tournaments playing like a clown. At least that's how I felt

I am in total agreement to this but what I hope to avoid is for someone to have won 1st to say 3rd place in a sem-major tournament but would still need to grind the other tournaments througout the year to maintain their ranking else be overtaken by someone who never placed top 3 but just earned point participating in every single tournament leading to the biggest tournament. So a player will grind to get top 3 and once they do are not forced to grind the rest of the year. Occassionally might join the other tournaments for the prize pool.

I feel a 12 month point accumulation only benefits full on pro players who can commit to enter all the tournaments. Which also means youd end up with the same group of people qualifying every time cause theyre the same ones who just grinded all year round. People who cant commit to a whole year of tournament grind wont even bother to try.

To summarize: point accumulation is good if another method of qualifying thats not centered in grinding the smaller tournaments for a chance to qualify is available i.e. placing in semi-major qualifying tournaments

In this instance, all it would take is 4-5 favorable draws for someone to potentially place top 3 in a one-off. If we assume there are a couple thousand players in these smalller tournaments then the average player would win 5-6 before they meet a challenge. If they play the right affinity characters, they can win matchups with better opponents. I think you need to demonstrate some level of sustained success to really earn your way into the biggest ones.

I’m not saying that means you should have to place in every single one but a top 3 or 5 finish in one tournament doesn’t seem to me that it really is deserving of a final invite. That said, I suppose it depends on the size of the tournaments and frequency.

Just my opinion and I can also see the counter arguments. Maybe you let anyone who finishes first in smaller tournaments automatically invited but top 5 still have to prove more over time.
