Yes I saw it. I don't really consider this as gameplay since it's an auto battler. An auto battler gameplay is based on the system of the game/classes/mechanics/replayability/strategy, not on the visuals/ui/sound/+. It's like chess. I'm happy to h ave a good UI in chess.com, but what's important is the chess game itself.
I do trust Aaron and the team to make it a good game. And I want them to take time to refine it and create multiple gamemodes. The issue in the NFTs games markets is first the lack of good gameplay, and second the visuals. The visuals are here. I pray for a good gameplay.

Gotcha. A lot of people missed that one so I often recommend it. I like just seeing the UI we didn't get in the cinematic trailer (which makes sense). I bet we will see gameplay before too long though, especially with the closed beta coming up soon.

I recently started watching the series BILLION DOLLAR CODE,
It's about how Google Earth started as TerraVision, and the technical challenges faced.

Was just so awesome to see how they combined the Technical skills with Artists to create something that everyone else said was impossible.

Apple's success with products was because of the huge focus they put into the Art/Design side of the product.

It just really feels like Illuvium is on that same path.
Yes they could have used Prebuilt Unitt assets, or Procedural generated graphics and levels.

Instead they are working to make every item a mini masterpiece combined with the technological forefront of Gamefi...

I truly feel that Illuvium is about to change the entire gaming industry

Hey man, interesting thoughts. How do you feel about the response to NFT gaming from the gaming community? It seems like there is an overwhelmingly negative, knee-jerk reaction to the concept. Or, at least at the mention of NFTs. The typical reasons I see listed are the perceived environmental impact and pay to win.

Any current game with skins could enter NFTs with a lot less pushback, because they would in effect be saying "you now own and can trade your skins" that would be a massive positive for those gamers.

But the reality is, it's no different than back in WOW days when you could buy from a Gold Farm website, and then get all your items and gear from the marketplace.

I personally believe that NFTs will become standard for ALL multi-player games within 10 years

Hey thanks for the kind words mates. Yeah indeed, this is specifically the Daggers weapon sounds. Each weapon will have it's very own unique signature sound. You guys will have dope skins for each weapons, we want to give you the same sound wise aka dope ass sound signatures ( lot of work, but worth it all the way )

honestly, working on a game that's inspired by Pokemon AND TFT is a sound designers dream. It's very intensive since pretty much every asset is a sound signature ( Illuvials and each stage, Regions, all the affinities, weapons and skins etc.. ). It's also a challenge in terms of integration and mix ( Our goal is that you could play a battle with your eyes closed almost, while at the same time feeling cinematic, empowering and unique )

Same for Weapons of Rangers: Each affinity ( Water, Fire etc... ) has it's own sound signature ( so like Nico leaked, a Daggers will have several sound signatures for each affinity, while at the same time sharing the same core element related to the physical blade sound )

Great sounds, no negative feedback here but I got stuck in a thought when I saw the last video of the omega ability. It looks like a brutal move when she stabs the ground but the sound kinda makes some ringing bells sound. Or the bells sound takes over a bit. My spontaneous thought was just that it doesn’t match up with how brutal the movement looks like. No hate, just love and thoughts

Hey, no hard feelings at all, thanks for the feedback. I Totally understand your input, It can be explained though. First, and you can't guess that obviously, we have a "Hit Material" layer that includes Flesh , bones, Rock, Wood etc... based on the ennemi being targeted. It adds this layer of "gore" and crunchy impact, that will def help with this powerful feeling of slashing your enemy to the ground that you mentioned. Also, you have to remember this sound is in the Autobattle scenario. We have to take a few things into consideration.
First in order to have a very clean and unique mix, we kinda have to aestheticize every attack and weapon. It means we have to give a unique feel to everything, with a distinct sound signature so that the player can instantly hear what attack is being triggered. That's why you'll probably feel again that something might be "lacking" in term of realism, but when you hear that in the overall mix, you'll hopefully find it supercool.
Also I could have added some sort of ground explosion and rock destruction. But that would overlap on the "EARTH" affinity, meaning that the AIR affinity would have a rock/ground sound that EARTH affinity already uses. We decided to focus on mix/Gameplay readability.
Hopefully it helps you get a feeling of what process is involved and how we craft the game sonically dude 🙂

The sword for exemple, that is bigger and more "impressive" in term of size, has a similar omega ability, but the impact of the sword on the ground is bigger and nastier. That's why also the Daggers must feel like something more sneaky and "precise", a bit like you are precisely stabbing your enemy right in the heart, instead of splitting him in two parts like the sword could do 😉

There is so much to take in calculation and as you say, when all comes together in a fight, everything will have it's purpose and make music to our ears. Do you guys do all sounds from 100% already existing sounds there is online or do you have your own studio and record rocks being thrown etc to get your own database of sounds?

very good question. We have like around 8 to 10 Tb of our personal recorded sounds, along with 1-2Tb of "commercial" sounds. We all have a big bunch of microphones, and a fully equiped studio (We delivered several commercial sound libraries ourselves also ). So yeah, we record a lot of sounds that end up in the game. Also bare in mind that when we use a commercial sound ( like something from a library ), it's only a layer that is being processed, so the end result doesn't sound like the original used sample ( I'm working on a illuvial sequence attack right now, and I'm already at 100 layers 😉 ) We def don't want to sound like every other game ahah ! So yeah, we take extra care of crafting original sources and sounds for sure !

Interesting to see on the Survival model leak, the winner has a Lot more waves, in a much shorter time.
1st place = 64 waves in 17 minutes
4th place = 39 waves in 27 minutes

So it looks like the higher damage builds might be the way to go, rather than the tanky/regen builds

You can see the “energy bar” in the middle under the character when she jumps. I guess the energy consumption is varied depending on how big the jump is (or how long you charge the jump). Also the last video might not be final product. Might be more energy consumption when jumping (my guesses)

Been recently playing Legends of Venari (some other NFT game) and they added a total count of each type captured which is nice for knowing rarity.

I think in order to calculate that we would need the duration of the 1st gen, the catch difficulty, the reduction over time etc… that’s pretty complex, but I hoped somebody would have a rough estimate… like a million or 10 million or something haha

It's just like RevDis, we can make high level assumptions but there's so many variables to really draw any accurate estimations. At the end of the day, I think the rarity relative to the rest of the population will be within a % range which means it doesn't really matter how many players. For example if there's 1M or 10M players, if there's only 1% Atlas, then the demand/value should be similar regardless if number as it's a % of the total

What we can count on is that 1st gen Illuvials will be OG. Wether it takes 6 months, a year or two, these will be replaced by 2nd Gen and thus become permanently rare.

Yes you’re right that’s a good way to see it, as a % of players ! That’s crazy though when you think about it, insane value is going to flow into the game, but nobody has a clue of how the economy of the game will react 😅

Also something to take into account are all the Atlases that are going to be burned to get the evolutions. You need 9 of them to get the third stage, which potentially greatly reduces the supply

And of course that’s relevant for all 1st and 2nd stages illuvials…

In that context I would read it as a stealth confirmation 😛 And personally I think there should be a master shard, yes. There are times where you simply wan't to be absolutely sure, even if it might be overkill. Just needs to be designed in a way that it cannot be exploited so the whole capture part moves into play to win completely. Maybe master shards are created through crafting and no one can craft more than one per week or something.
