Yeah to me its just the pinch in the middle that looks unnatural. Looking at some other helmet designs it seems like wide in the middle is a fairly common theme.
Its especially pronounced on stormtrooper helmets.

All of Arlens organs and vitals are protected by the suit, some small exemptions were made cause nasa space suits aren't sexy but the face is kind of heavily restricted. It has to be covered and you have to think she's sexy underneath

I like the tint on the visor. It definitely sells the "foreign hostile planet" narrative more than seeing the characters face.

I don't know exactly but we're now in the phase where it is a requirement that all new people are super productive from the start and don't need a lot of hand holding.

When we had fewer myself or someone else on the team could spend the time to teach someone what their job was. Now we have strong guidelines in place for everything and most stuff is very clear. So basically we get people that are good enough to just say 'ok I got this'.

with the pandemic i think a lot of people subconsciously don't like a persons mouth covered especially if the female character that must look sexy. just my 2 cents idea. the helmet in the pic is from neon genesis Evangelion , but ya with paint you can see i painted out the bubble glass effect at the top, it is like a lot of Sci fi games (ME Andromeda e.g). the bubble glass in front of the face is great for showing off beauty. so with the sci fi theme the glass can split and retract exposing most of the face (its extra rigging but it would be cool having a dynamic helmet). please don't hate my paint skills i wanted to do art in high school and beyond but my mom told me artiest don't make money till they are dead. your going to business school🤦‍♂️

Has this been solved yet? I was thinking... A lot of Illuvium's artwork shows that the game isn't taking itself too seriously, which is a good thing, IMO. But this design doesn't really have that. (It's like that new BMW design, with lots of facets and angles and kinks. Impressive at times, but on the whole too damn close to being try-hard.) The high heels are part of this problem. As for the visor, I'd consider something more innocent-looking -- some nice, big, transparent bubble, Tintin-on-the-moon-style (although not quite). Also, I'd consider giving her somewhat wider hips.

Von - The current leak is beautiful! Good work. She's progressing nicely.
If your postings/leaks are not intended to invite feedback, please accept my apology for the following.

A. Perhaps her coloring/lighting is still in the works, or even purposeful, but the monotone iridescence seems a little at odds with the more vibrant designs of the illuvials. I can see why it might be been done intentionally... (i.e. from different worlds) ... just observing.

B. While she is beautiful - there is a bit of non-uniqueness (mozart being the exception) to the shape... as if she could have been plucked from any space related title... maybe a throw a little Samus from Metroid in the mix? She's always been iconic and immediately recognizable.

Any way just my 0.00003774 ILV on the subject.

I think that Arlen's helmet that is not transparent looks way better. Maybe not looks because model itself is great but feels better.

Previous leak looks a bit weird with her face so close to the glass. I think it's because normally helmets have like some additional protection stuff inside them so the spacing between them and face is way bigger. That might be reason that something is not feeling right for our brains when we look at it. At last for me 😉

Actually we have stated many times about making the overworld maps a bit smaller so they aren't boring,
2x2-3Km Max is the goal for each biome

We are developing tools to procedurally speed things up but for the most part each biome is meticulously planned and improved on.

Well not super new, but it's something you guys haven't exactly seen. It's been in a couple leaks but without any context.

We want to make sure the game has some depth. So we have a a few systems. One rewards you for putting down a good team. This is the synergy system. The other rewards you for countering your opponent. The first part you have seen, being affinity damage. But there's more to it. A lot more.

The good thing about these is that they are build from the basic 5. So if you know the base 5, you'll be able to remember the other 15 since they will be some type of combo of them.

I hesitate to event comment as it feels like I'll be the only dissonant voice in this echo chamber choir ... but alternate viewpoints is the point of discussion right?!

I can only hope that there is some significant part of the story line that explains why the main characters are exploring hostile alien planet(s) in suits made of what seems to be spandex with a few plates attached.

Either: These humanoid beings evidently do not have vital internal organs that need protected since the suit doesn't cover: A. the top of the head, B. the neck, C. the abdomen, D. the 'nether' regions, E. the legs... "Armor" it is not - despite the need to do battle

Or: We just haven't seen the blueprintable upgrades which can be applied/attached/added to this base suit which provide the 'post-crash' protection needed in order to survive extreme climate conditions, and battle unknown alien species.

With this depicted 'suit of armor' including just basic covering for just the face, shoulders, hands, feet, and breasts - connected by various straps... a best guess is that the suit is only for breathing assistance, and to provide a connection point for the jet propulsion system and Moz4rt.

It is a fair point though. Hopefully some of the skins will have a more 'armored' look to them. If different people want different aesthetics for their characters i dont see why we cant accommodate everyone.

I was under the impression that there were going to be lots of different skins based on the scans of the illuvials from IZ. Obviously they have to be stylistically coherent but there could be a variety of different themes and looks.
Maybe "accommodate everyone" was poor phrasing but I dont see why you wouldnt want to have a variety of options so more people can choose something they really like.

Yeh, unfortunately a range of custom models won't be planned for the beta. It's one of those things that nobody will care about unless the base assets are good anyway. Won't add anything to gameplay either.
Eventually we will, but it's very hard to find hard surface modelers who do this style anymore
