The different affinity illuvials are literally rarer or more common depending on the region. Hence why you see so many air/nature/sometimes earthy illuvials in Brightland, and that will change for each region depending on the affinity of the zone

I'm having a REALLY hard time following the lore. When someone unlocks something, I don't feel like I'm being told nor do I know where to get told or learn about what the hell is going on.

The storyline I'm sure is solid, but we were just thrust immediately into picking a faction without getting a backstory really on why there are factions.

In addition, names were thrown out VERY quickly or without a reference point to where I don't know who is who.

I really want to be a part of the story, but I feel very apart from it especially since I have no involvement (it feels like).

It will come. if I gave you the backstory of everything then there would be nothing to discover.

You can change your faction at any time. It's just 'what do you believe'' about the world and it flavours the types of missions you get.

Trust me, you'll want to let it come naturally over time. Let the story evolve on you.

Hmm I think I'll be changing my faction. Adaptum seemed closest to what I believe ( old place holder) yet sojourn is definitely more me.
These descriptions are really different.
Celestials sound like extremists that want to use Illuvium all to their own advantage.

Adaptum now sound like a capitalist cartel keeping knowledge hidden or maybe even like a particular organisation that exists in the world now, that holds massive amounts of knowledge behind closed doors.

Oh. Well for the record I don’t personally belong to any of those factions. I’m a human.

So if you dislike their beliefs I’m not offended. That’s kind of the point really. They are ALL supposed to feel real. None are “obviously right”. You gotta work out which one makes sense to you.

Each faction started with the core of a belief or religion from reality, and then I tweaked them.

Celestials are Herk. And technically most if not all the exalted. But since you got a brain wipe, you get to “believe again”.

I will say one thing. When your drone decodes the message, it doesn’t get all the data. It misses out the video (because we didn’t want to spend money on recording video yet). Eventually you might see video from those files. But it won’t contain more info that would help you learn.

I think I've been creating this sense of urgency to "fix" the way in which we interact with the lore because the game has given me glimpses to what I first felt playing Pokemon and WOW. I WANT to get sucked into the story, I have my own opinions on how it "should" have been done to grab the individual gamer's heart, and I just feel like I (and others) are missing out on more of that good feeling.

It's still beta. If all my job was, was to come up with ideas about what I think should happen, then I'd have 100,000 and the game would be a MMORPG VR like Ready Player One. The fact is that we need to add as we can.

The lore was mostly done 3 years ago. But the team is so busy building other things that they were barely able to get that in. Right now we need to focus on fixing things and getting in the features promised. Pinging me after couple of days about this isn't going to do anything to improve the way we tell the lore. Because the only thing that will is the backlog of higher priority things getting finished.

All i will say, is if you landed on this planet and this was your situation, outside of some NPCs this is the exact experience you would get.

Let’s also remember not having all the fine details in the game is a repercussion from community pressure to release the game for years. All the “wens” that we all had to read for years and now it’s released and people are upset certain aspects aren’t completed... If the team took the extra time to release a full game, those lore & story items would be in the game I’d suspect.

The game is in an amazing place for being in a beta state. We all should be excited that this is just Illuvium in beta form. Imagine when all of the planned systems are in the game. It’s going to be incredible to be apart of.

I think for us it was also a case of needing to get the game out for real. It never needed to be perfect at launch. We probably could have waited longer, but we have been in limbo a long long time. It would have been fine if we had less scope or an expectation of a longer dev period.

But now we will just keep improving it.

Look at no mans sky. Gone from strength to strength after a launch that wasn’t up to expectations.

Exactly. I think you guys delivered on your (initial) vision for the game quite well, but the sky's the limit as far as how far Illuvium can go. I am loving the game and can't wait to see where it goes in the years to come. It's the best creature collection/battler game that I have ever played (from a creature design, stat design, gameplay design, strategy, etc). It clearly has a diehard core fanbase that isn't going anywere.

you guys @devteam should really make solon scanning on stage runs a little more cheaper not great value for what it does, or add more QOL for people that use solon in runs cause right now the player base aint using solon nearly as much

in my very personal point of view, rising fusion prises could help a lot.

There is a game that you can play now, and discover leaks. Remember, if you unlock a new region you'll find more of the story and if you capture the right illuvial you'll find out even more. So far there's barely any been discovered save for some of the logs that have been found in the regions.

As for other parts of the story, the next update will have a bunch more NPCs. But just keep in mind this week a lot of the team are away due to exhaustion. We forced them to take some time off. They know there is still more to do but we need them fresh to do it. So probably nothing this week.

However, if someone wants to give a theory as to what is going on in the story I'll give a reply.

Regarding stats, how will the training gym, or the stat reroll work? Will it be implemented?
The thing is that alot of people are paying premium for good stats, and i believe we should know about the stat system before making more investments.

I also guess rerolling is considered more of a whale feature, so it will likely be pretty expensive.

I think it would be impossible to make each land as a map and make it update when land change

If they make a shooter from OW maps they would certainly add structures and potentially change the map a bit. Maybe the structures they put in the map could be ilz structures

Maybe I've no idea. My thinking was that each plot would be a blueprint for a procedurally generated map.

Could potentially open up some really cool IZ features too. Like having to build resupply/health stations ect

I'm just spitballing here though. I'm sure this concept is way harder to execute in reality

Anyway, as I have said before.

Teleport to schedule with + moving forward in scedule, - backwords and * back to Obelisk.
Teleport all fruits to grid in the beginning for mining.
Teleport all and freeze Morphopods to one spot.
Teleport and freeze all Illuvials to grid.
All Illiuvials 1 hp (instakill).
Rapid fire.
God mode speed.
Zero weapon cooldown.
Low/Zero gravity.

and some more stuff.

Multiple attack vectors. Passive and active.

I have some ideas how to prevent part of these. Others are difficult to prevent but can be made more difficult to do. But I am sure your team will figure out something smart when they see how it is exploited.

Well if the code allows for sword usage. But you just did not couple a keybinding to equip it. Then you can just bypass that in memory. Or point the equip function to the sword. If that was you were talking about. I have not looked at this since it does not really do much for giving an advantage to other players. Hence no point spending time on making it secure

If you release a feature with the binary but disabled. It is still there to be enabled by people who knows what to look for

If that is the case. Then your leak is technically from the team
