What's the point of even trying to find good stats for Illuvials when anyone can endlessly (like in a Casino) roll for the „optimal“ stats for themselves?
It defeats the purpose of a marketplace and trading at all.

Another fact that eradicates it is that now everyone has a free cheat (legal) for revealing all Illuvials in OW.
I mean, what’s the point of delaying so much and putting so much time into detail when, in the end, it truly becomes a pure pack opener and not an Overworld experience anymore?

Now, the huge whales have a fast-lane ticket to super rare stuff by simply entering new regions and scanning all Illuvials until they find what they want.
The marketplace is not needed since they can re-roll stats as well.

I like the idea of being able to pay a small sum to see and catch the illuvials I want.
I would be more inclined to play Overworld if I have that option.

Since it’s evident that the player numbers aren’t in the millions, if we are lucky, we might get over 100k active players during the airdrop.

Everything is done to extract enough money to at least get a second shot at another game.

Everyone who’s a total beginner to Illuvials will be overwhelmed by the complexity of TeamBuilder and other game modes, and nobody likes to be crushed while spending their own hard money.

Comparing it to Axie no - Illuvium has much more detail and beauty, but it doesn’t change the fact that these new features would screw this over.

Personally this does make the experience better. I don't get much chance to play, so if I find a rare illuvial with crap stats I get the opportunity to pay a fee for better roll of stats. This is a W for the casual gamer. Otherwise, I've then got to spend a lot of time and money on fuel trying to find that 'rare' illuvial again just for the chance to get better stats. I think these updates are better catered towards casual gamers. Which is the majority of the community

With our small user base, I don’t see much activity besides people flexing their perfectly rolled Illuvials to others for money nobody is willing to spend since anyone could get lucky with rolling the ideal stats.

The purpose of grinding for good stats and Illuvials was defeated simply by paying for everything (pay2win).

The best example is Illuvial Beyond, a dead market, the same as Illuvium Zero—literally zero liquidity!

You can have the best economy, but if you have no player base that grows in size with a serious retention rate, you will be heading straight against the wall at full speed.

This is especially true if you encourage pay2win, which defeats the purpose of grinding from the very beginning.

For those worried about the trait rerolling. The actual mechanics will change before launch. It will still be much more efficient to catch a new illuvial.

Rerolls needed to be simplified (random) while we work out some issues. It won’t be full randomised traits on launch.

You will be able to nudge them up a bit, and it will be quite expensive. This means the best value will still come from people who play and capture them in the wild.

As for scanning, this will also be expensive. The floor cost for playing naturally will be much much lower than for people using this feature.

Meaning that the marketplace is still very viable. In fact it probably won’t be viable for these people to sell, because they would be undercut by players that do it naturally.

But the fact is there are people with lots of money that are willing to pay a lot more to play faster because it’s a real grind to get huge collections. And they will still enjoy fighting, hunting and capturing in the wild.

It’s a compromise. And we are obviously still testing. But the clear point is these things are expensive, and they don’t give anyone a real advantage over dedicated players except via time reduction.

Right now you guys are all playing with free money. So you think it’s really bad. Because with infinite free money it gives them an advantage. Once we are live and it is real money that changes to basically “some people will pay a lot more so that they can keep up with your 8 hours a day with their 2 hours a day.” But they will have spent a lot more than you to do it.

In any case please keep up with the feedback.

Hey Aaron, I have a concern thats not related to this topic but I wonder, whats the plan when mainnet launches and there is a bug such as the ones we've seen for example when crafting or fusing that the transaction goes trough but then it doesn get completed and you still lose whatever it required. Whats the plan there if in mainnet a player experiences those kind of bugs? I just what to know if the focus is to not ever allow those kind of bugs to happen or if there would be some sort of way to get a refund of the lost NFTs/items.

fuel still exists and will be used exactly as it was going to be before, it's just not on chain probably due issues with on chain congestion slowing things down and causing pain for the players

Until we can scout the other players and see what comps they're building it's mostly luck based rn. Because if you're trying to build the same comp as other players you'll struggle to find the illuvials you need in the shop.

Like most of the team, mainly tired. Because we’re still beta after launch, there is still a lot to do. Ascendant is getting a lot of upgrades, same for Survival mode. I have to do a lot more quests. Polish some other features. Way more stuff for Zero. Etc.

It will be exciting to see how people enjoy. And we will take a small break after confirming there are no huge issues with the launch.

Then right back to it. 🙂

Remember the story will take a very long time for you guys to get through. Some of it comes really slowly. Some you will only find in each region. And those will take a long time to unlock.

As cool as it sounds 3d printers are still very hit and miss so having multiple/any pose options isn’t very feasible without lots of testing to make sure support structures are good and the fail rate of prints is acceptably low. Otw though i agree that metal posters work and general 3d print figurines with serial number on the base or something would be neat

You could modify elements more freely before though. Now you have to pay to get every different weapon variant to have access to those comps. It’s fine but really it’s more of a downgrade than an upgrade.

Bonding was a cool and unique feature for illuvium but we’re dropping it completely. Could still do cool things with it even if it doesn’t change weapon element. Imagine stacking double tsunami for a crazy effect
