So the shards are mined from the Overworld of the main Illuvium game. To capture T1-T5 illuvials, the shards you have will need to be cured so that you can use them. The Hyperion fuel will be used in some way to cure those shards.

Like Scoot was saying above, Tier 0 Illuvials will be free to capture. No Hyperion will need to be used to cure the shards for Tier 0.

So we're in the first phase of the private beta now which has been live for around 5 months.

Then the next phase is coming soon. It will be tested in two stages, Autobattler Arena first. Then Overworld. After the second phase of testing is complete, then we'll likely have a better idea on when the public launch will be

Right now, it's all just speculation. There is no confirmed pricing or source, really. It's all going to depend on how much fuel is required for travel and shard curing... and then how much each of those fuel tokens is going to cost. The team could hypothetically say, "it costs 5 crypton to travel to a Tier 1 region" but there's no way to know how much that 5 crypton is.

We won't really have that information until the game is live and we see the supply/demand in effect in the market.

I think this line of thought makes sense for a lot of games but not necessarily Illuvium. Because its so collection based like a card game it matters that the Illuvial NFTs have some amount of value. If they are all free to get, then they will probably also have virtually no value. While if they have a cost to obtain then they will be more likely to hold value.

I also dont expect Illuvium to be SUPER expensive like some other NFT games. A lot of the Illuvials should be in the $1-$5 range which means you could have a full roster for only a couple hundred bucks.

To clarify, by 'a full roster' I meant collecting all of the Illuvials that are availible. Not the minimum needed for a team. You could easily field a full team with the free Illuvials and have a decent team for less than the cost of a regular $60 game.

And the web2 items that have sold for huge sums of money are few and far between. Youre trying to equate value in a small number of items with value in NFTs that every player will have. Just think of pokemon for an example. Nobody would give you money for a pidgey. They MIGHT give you money for a level 100 shiny pidgey. The goal with Illuvium is for ALL the assets to have value. Not just a small few assets held by lucky players.

Well no one here has played Illuvium with its Tier 0 Illuvials. There's no market established yet so no value can be determined.

One thing to think about is that Illuvials have levels... and you'll need to grind with Tier 0 Illuvials to level them up if you want to stand a chance in the Tier 1 regions. Depending on how long it takes to level the Tier 0 Illuvials up, there's likely going to be people who don't want to spend that time grinding. There could be a market for selling those leveled up Tier 0 Illuvials.

It remains to be seen since the game isn't live yet... but I wouldn't count that strategy out yet.

Free-to-earn and getting rewarded by placing on the leaderboard are absolutely two different things. Having no rewards on ascendant doesnt make sense. There should be some incentive to tryhard and get placements. It doesnt have to be token $ILV.

Some games provide utility from placements by giving them guaranteed slots to the next tournament. Some like Apex provide dive trails, charms, badges. Maybe for Web 3.0 it can be NFTs or POAPs while official tournaments arent established. By nature of NFTs, it would be considered of monetary value.

Forging is when you take items and smush them together to make other things.

For example, you mine a deposit and get some ore. You forge the ore into a bladed shield.

Ascendant is the main PVP game mode. Thing of Arena as a game where there are things on a board that bash each other.

The game mode determines everything about HOW those things get on the board. Once they are there, all game modes play out the same way.

But in Survival the enemy is randomised and you have fewer restrictions. In ascendant you play against someone and they react to what you place down, making it much more difficult to be good.

PB2 adds all thew features for Survival Mode so it is effectively core complete. And since that is coming very soon the team is already starting to move to Ascendant. Ascendant game mode features won't take long (at least for the first pass) but there are a bunch of server related features that are quite complex. So that will still take some time.

Just the games won and lost. If a player were to sell all their stuff after getting a very high ranking then their next matches are going to be a little bit rough if they don't have enough for good strategic diversity.

Same thing for someone who buys lots of stuff but has a low rating.

We have done everything in our power to normalise it so that you don't need lots of stuff to be good, but the fact is that we are a deck builder and that means you do need to have some things you own. It's all a balance.

Also, if you own a lot of great stuff but you're terrible at the game you won't be at the top of the leaderboard. You still need a LOT of skill.

For example, one player who is the best could probably win with a very small deck compared to a rich idiot.

Yep. There are two variables. You and your opponents rating. And you and your opponents "accuracy". Basically, how much confidence we have that you actually are the rating we think you are. When our confidence is low you move around a lot more quickly. After you have played a few matches you start to settle in.

There will absolutely be 'climb the ladder' streams where top players show you how to climb from Bronze to Ascendant.

Yes. they hold staked ILV token and any income by the DAO goes back to stakers of ILV.

In the long term, token price will also help out. Remember, they don't earn in dollars like Activision/Blizzard, they earn tokens. Converting revenue to tokens puts an upward buying momentum. Once game is fully launched, the upward momentum will always be there.

At any rate, they had a 3 year runway, and once that is done, i believe they can do capital raising easily. Especially with a fully launched suit of games.

Sure a new game may raise the revenue but it will also raise the costs. That does not solve the issue of how the costs will be covered with only 15 percent of revenue

The treasury currently holds more than 1.5 million ILV. Like 1.8m. So it’s eligible for 1.8/9.5 of all revenue. (Technically it’s a lower denominator than that until all possible ILV tokens are eligible) Not significantly different than 15% but something.

What are the costs? What is the revenue? These are the questions we won’t be getting answers to today. Or anytime soon. But they are the only way to respond to the concern that 15% isn’t enough.

They earn eth but it isn't distributed as ETH. It buys ILV off the market and distributes the ILV. I understand the concern, for funds. I'm actually more concerned that if the team have tokens, if they get wealthy enough they might not need to work anymore lol. But even then I'm not really concerned. If illuvium got to that level they would have no problem finding new people to hire, and i don't think anyone on the team would ditch without leaving the team in good hands. I also think that the team has so much passion for making illuvium the best it can possibly be, if funds ran dry, they would probably keep working on it in good faith, maybe not full time but i think they would work on it when they can, worst case.

I’m taking it as easy as I can. Today I got through a lot of work and that felt good but I’m not great now and have 5 hours of meetings.

I can compress them but (and I do where possible) but it’s all a balancing act.

Today I really wanted to do a 24 hour stretch of work but held myself back to 6 hours.

There was also probably noone as powerful as tai lung in kung fu panda 1. But it is not only about having the exact same qualities. Sometimes, while the exact way of dealing with issues is different, the end goal is either just as good or even better
Illuvium just needs someone who has the same level of thinking and problem solving and has time to sit around listening to Aaron all day to soak up all the information for 2-3 months. After that they understand what hé wants, and can even give feedback here and there 🙂

A normal Human being is able to focus and work productive for 4hrs [ So lets say you go into a Deep Work [ Flow state ] session of 4 hrs ], even if you take a 30 minutes pause [ do you even take brakes in between? ] the most you could do is Time Blocking [ Promodoro Sessions of 30-50 Minutes ]

1 thing is for sure, obviously those 24hr stretches dont work in the long run, or your health wouldnt take the damage it did already, that aside.

I take toilet breaks and such when I do long stretches, but I would say I'm working like how most people work, but for long periods. The best way I can describe is that it allows me to keep more things in my short term memory, document them, and get something good.
Sometimes get annoyed and think "I have to do X, Y, Z" only to find that I did it the night before while in the flow. It's documented so it's fine, but I have forgotten it because it didn't get into long term memory.

I think a lot of people work like this. And it's not better or worse than any other method.

And the reason why I can do it, is because it's interesting. If it wasn't something interesting then there is no way I could go that long. But I love puzzles and so trying to solve that stuff is fun.

I don't have any 'blessings'. Anyone who is interested in something can go for a lot longer than they can when something is boring.

The other thing I want to be clear about is that my illness was not because I was run down. It was a physical cause that happened TO me. My immune system is fine and I was feeling amazing before.

As for 'read on 2x'? I think maybe he means listen and watch things. Podcasts and Videos I always have 2x but I think that's normal. I would say that I'm an ok reader, so maybe I can read a bit faster than normal?

In any case I think I just have a way of doing things that sometimes works for me. But it's nothing special.

Unless illuvium studios has an 85 percent margin(never before seen long term margin)or higher I don’t see how this project can sustain long term with treasury getting only 15 percent of revenue. Something to consider is you can't 100% compare it to a web2 gaming studios costs. For example there isn't a CEO or list of executives on absurd salaries (as far as I know 😅👀). Also a large majority of the team works remotely which MASSIVELY reduces costs. That being said, I agree that more budget transparency would be awesome
