That's pretty much it - Illuvials have shard integrity, or I guess it's Illuvial integrity now, which decreases when they fight and more when they're KOd. When it gets low you get increasingly severe debuffs until they can't fight anymore

If you're preparing for those stage 3 runs you might want to take more fill-ins so you can lvlup that team early on in stage 2.
Once you find stronger ones in stage 3 you can replace your fill-ins.

youll need good syngergies and at at best 4 3+ Buffs in your team to consistently perferom on stage 3
