the game has always been heavy on ram usage. I casually sit around 18-20gb of ram usage, sometimes higher. it tends to lower after 30-45min of playtime. you could try lowering settings, maybe textures first to see what happens.

No it's not possible to not learn them when the prompt happens, spare him and then turn him in

IIRC After “In the Shadow if the Relic” you then immediately get “In the Shadow of Fate” available where you have to go to the Undercroft to speak to Sebastian, which then means you have to decide what to do then and there.

So if you haven’t learned any of the Unforgivable Curses during their respective quests, there’s to way to learn them if you turn him in.

Change the in game display mode from Fidelity/ with Raytracing to Performance of Balanced mode

There’s currently an issue with fidelity and Raytracing mode that is waiting on a latch to fix, the workaround is to switch to performance mode but balanced mode works too if that’s available to you as an option

personally speaking, I don't think Ray Tracing is worth it on any game on console if I'm being honest. RT taxes the ps5/xsx too hard, and you'll likely only manage 30fps in most games with an RT preset

The crashing is on all PC platforms and it affects both Nvidia and AMD GPUs, not sure about Intel GPUs as well as Steam deck and all consoles.

Disabling HAGS has helped some, but not everyone. Disabling this can cause issues with other games as well as overall pc performance. So while it might help prevent crashing in Hogwarts it can cause other issues. Just keep this in mind if you do decide to disable HAGS.

Did you go and check? Usually the bug manifests as all of your counters being full and all of the vivarium/butterfly chests being opened, but one of the cards being missing.

If you're only referring to getting the achievement a little sooner than you should have, then yeah, it is, but it's one in your favour, and won't interfere with your ability to actually collect the chests you're missing

Your pretty alone on this. hogwarts legacy is in my opinion the best harry potter game out there, I have finished the main story 6 times and am still not bored, the map is huge, there are so many quests, so many small stories, etc.

It’s also Avalanche’s first game of this scale, they’re a relatively small dev team (about 136ish employees) they’ve never done this kind of game before, there’s no Microtransactions either, the dev team are passionate about the IP so they wanted to make a game that die hard fans would love and also new fans could get into easily,

Hogwarts legacy did have some pretty big issues at the launch tho, mostly about translating and performance, but even now there still are a lot of issues, for example if you walk with your camera at a wrong angle hogwarts castle just despawns and only the furniture stays visible

Well I can't say if there only are issues on PC, I have been playing on PC from the beginning, I did play it on a Nintendo during a very short period but I can't really remember if I also had issues there

I just used hogwarts castle as an example, it works for most of the buildings if you are inside and then place the camera at the exactly wrong position, with that one position the camera can "enter" walls and then the buidling just despawns and if you fix your camera it will just not become visible again

I think that issue exists since the summer update, I just encountered it a few days ago

It’s kind of a half and half deal. Better fidelity and lighting while aiming for 60fps

for some reason before that update sometimes the walk animation of my character just didnt load, I dont know if that has anything to do with the raytracing (probably not) but if so then im kind of happy it got removed

Most likely a glitch of some kind. Raytracing actually causes the game to crash within 30 seconds just by walking or pressing R2

beat the game on PC at launch, then grabbed the PS5 version a few months later. PS5 seemed to have far more issues with stability. counted a total of 4 crashes after multiple 4 hour sessions in RT mode even back then.

then again, maybe if my PC was more in line with PS5 specs I'd possibly experience the samething. but my PC is quite a bit stronger than the PS5 so perhaps it bruteforced through a lot of issues at launch.

RT reflections might also be slightly broken on the PC version as well. not that it crashes like PS5, but reflections seemed a lot noiser than they were at launch.

The first trial quest is easy on the pensive boss fight . He dose nothing if you attack from behind. Was that the idea or is it supposed to be more challenging? Either way that's how I did it.

I would say it runs fairly well for a Switch game. It's quite pretty if you haven't played the other console versions yet. But the loading zones are something you need to be willing to be patient with.
