I think the only reason I can get away with Ultra on my RTX 3080 is I'm on 1080p and the game eats around 9 GB VRAM at the worst (no RT). I don't get any of the extreme framedrops/slideshows despite the performance issues I've seen with the game but I assume I would at 1440p.

All my screenshots are rivatuner ruined but it helps me gauge game behaviour, also lets me back up it's the game and not me. A big issue for people would be allocated versus used. My allocation CAN peak at about 9.1-9.2k but the VRAM in use at Ultra in those situations can and does cross 8 GB and I assume that's what happens for some people- as well as the game not using cards properly since this is happening to 4090s of all cards and my card is definitely being underused so II assume it's a combination of the game mismanaging system resources, influenced by the state of the game and drivers. NVIDIA's apparently half assed Returnal and Atomic Heart- so I'm very much hoping Resident Evil 4 runs well without optimised drivers. 'cries'

Hey all, im playing on PS5 - no issues at all until lastnight I just finished the final repository quest.. Once I completed and got trophy.. it took me to the room at school and loading.. even after restart i deleted the game reinstalled and whenever i choose the autosaved file it just stuck at loading

I play with max FOV and have a g sync monitor- I suffer migraines, also I kill chromatic and motion blur sometimes which helps. If you're on console, a stable framerate is more important than higher in terms of getting sick

If you're on PC, framerate lock if you can- I use 72 as half my 144 refresh rate... best I can recommend is when I have a game that makes me feel bad is to take frequent screen breaks

They only finished the game as fast as they did because they declared they hit the end of the main story, the people who've finished every single thing in the entire world have been playing for days non stop. I've been playing since release and taken a few day in between playing as a break to fully appreciate the game and I'm just now on the third trial, although it has to be said, I'm not even planning to finish it this weekend, just planning to explore.

Having gotten about halfway through my second playthrough now, I'd like to share some thoughts. Apologies for the block o' text.

I think the main things holding this game back from having the staying power of games like Skyrim or BotW are the lack of systems and quest content. While it's difficult to get truly open-ended gameplay with the responsibilities of a student attending school, HL's gameplay is centered almost entirely around the main quest, with core features being locked off except through main quest progression.

In Skyrim each playthrough has a unique story, defined by what factions your character joins and in what order you do the quest chains. HL's side chains are more like branches of the main quest. The school scenario makes something like this difficult, but in the very least, unique house chains could provide some interest for multiple playthroughs. It also feels like the companion quests got trimmed down, especially with Amit.

Meanwhile BotW is defined almost entirely by its emergent systems. After the tutorial, the world is your oyster. HL has a very good start in this regard, but could stand to push harder, perhaps in any patches, DLCs, expansions or sequels. More elemental interactions would go a long way toward deeper gameplay. In addition, this would have been the perfect opportunity to draw from alchemy/cooking systems in other games like BotW, KCD, or Potion Craft. And I'm sure we all recognize the absence of Quidditch.

In the very least, a New Game+ mode that unlocks core features from the beginning would be a good place to start. Future patches and DLCs could add more spell interactions and possibly restore some cut quest content. Weaving additional quest chains into the core story would be ideal (and crucial, in my opinion) but unlikely from a dev cycle perspective.

also pagefile would mean that the problem was with your actual DRAM all along, glad it worked out in the end, however

pagefile is a file automatically created to take some load off your RAM, but this is only for your DRAM, sometimes that files gets huge and can max out your disc space which leads to funny errors
