Seeing the discourse here, there's apparently issues being had with people who came here to take a stance on transphobia. As a non-cis person and member of the queer community, I'd like to point out that this is a thing much bigger than Rowling. This series changed a lot of lives - I myself hated reading and when I heard the talking book 4 chapter 1, I read the first 3 out of a challenge from my sister. 8 years later I entered a excellent university, majoring in English literature and planning on teaching it.

In the literary community there's this concept, Death of the Author. It means that once it's out in the world, the author doesn't matter towards its content and how that content is consumed, interpreted, or received. it is not literal, it is a metaphoric concept

With what is known of some of history's most famous authors, artists, etc., we have to decide when to divorce the creator from the creation. When to cut the umbilical cord. Those of us who choose to continue enjoying a very important and world changing series and the universe contained therein are not bad people. Those who choose to personally abstain are not, either. Those who choose to bludgeon others with a claimed moral superiority aren't acting in good faith.

Trans and other non cis individuals have huge fights in life. This? This is a papercut compared to other battles and perhaps first we can focus on civil rights and making life not horribly distressing and difficult for families and individuals who don't fit societal gender "norms."

Just an opinion from a single member of the community who happened to have a life altering relationship not with the author but the books.
