Maybe this is a hot take but I was never totally convinced by what the keepers were telling me. Like they acted like the memories I saw would enlighten me with this great sense of “agreeing with them” but I never really got there. Yes it’s concerning that Isidora’s dad lost all emotion entirely, but that was basically the only flaw and maybe that can be overcome. And on the other hand, San used an unforgivable curse so isn’t he bad too?

Actually the part that convinced me to side with the Keepers over Isidora was actually a red herring. I was recording my screen when playing to make sure I didn’t miss anything, and when I was watching back Isidora’s memory, I noticed that the “footage” did a slightly-disguised cut before Isidora’s father spoke, cutting out the concerns Percival brought up in his version of the memory. I also thought parts of Isidora’s memory sounded a bit muffled. I thought we had a Slughorn situation on our hands and Isidora couldn’t be trusted; this hypothesis was emboldened by the Keepers’ constant reminders that things aren’t always as they seem

But actually since that wasn’t a big issue, I don’t really know what they meant by “things aren’t always as they seem” now

Tbh, I’m kind of mad at the MC for being too submissive towards the keepers about this. Push back, challenge their views, make them prove they are right. He just rolled over and accepted it even though Anne (and, by extension, Sebastian) was suffering.

I can get over that. I ended up thinking the magic should at least be studied and not convinced that the magic should be "kept" from the wizarding world if it could be harnessed. Concerning outcomes from using the magic before doesn't mean that it can't be refined to be used in a safe way and Isidora being untrustworthy also doesn't mean that the magic itself can't be used positively

I think ultimately my biggest gripe with the game is that the Sebastian relationship quests never tied back into the main game plot. Once it branched off, it was like it’s own isolated thing. Which was a bad choice not only from a character behavior perspective (characters in some missions being completely oblivious to something that happened with them in another mission), but also, more importantly, from a story perspective. The main storyline and the Seb Relationship line were closely related and both had a lot to do with trying to save Anne, yet they never converged back together like I was waiting for them to do

He basically became an empty shell. So that’s probably what would’ve happened to Anne if we used our magic on her

But there definitely should’ve been some kind of extension. If you go back to Solomons home where Anne was living after the quest line, you find a letter. There’s that at least. A short, kind of sad one.

They're two very different kinds of pain, to me. Isidora's dad was dealing with emotional pain, a depression/mourning, while Anne is physically pained by the curse. I'm okay that we couldn't undo the curse... but easing her physical pain or finding a different method (like inserting a magic cushion between the curse and her body) seems like a different kettle of grindylow than what Isidora did. Even if actually helping Anne couldn't've worked for meta story reasons I would've liked to ask.

Of course, what good would the Keepers be in answering? They didn't even know that what Isidora was doing could be done, nonetheless the consequences of it when it happened. San Bakkar said her dad was as if he was "stripped of all emotion" - is that because she took too much? Would it have been fine if she'd stopped after a single treatment or would it have just happened over a longer time frame? Did she keep taking from him because "the problem" came back or because she couldn't stop herself "fixing" him? Do they not know what happened to the students she experimented on? If we used her method to try to remove a different type of pain, would it have stripped Anne of too much physical pain and is that something less horrific to live with? Would Anne have become dissociated from her own physical pain and thus kept pushing herself in moments where she should stop and thereby bring on her own death - and if that happens on a longer timeframe than the curse is killing her is that tradeoff not worth it?

I don't think they have answers, and that's also fine, but I think not being able to have that frank discussion with anyone made what started looking like important parallel stories end on an underwhelming note. Especially since you were basically forced to tell people your secrets even if you tried not to, venting and theorizing with them would've been nice. It just needed a little button to unite the two at the end imo.

To my annoyance it really does make some sense that we didn't ask because we were afraid of them being jerks about it and not letting us move forward with the trials, haha, like hbh said.

There's a difference between decently fast and needing four full speed boosts on top of a fully upgraded broom just to catch up when the controls for the broomstick are this bad and the courses are equally bad. The speed boosts rarely line up with the next hoop they're always / or \ off so you need to zigzag then there's that 90 degree sharp turn

If you fly the exact same, multiple times against even yourself it still happens. But at the finish you are literally neck-to-neck.

possibly migth also be a patch thing. Between my first 2 races and the third they adjusted the flying controlls so it takes longer for you to turn where your looking. Makes it easier to look around when flying without veering off but harder to complete the sharp turns on the course.

The camera follow is how quickly the camera pulls around to line up with where your looking making it easier to see where your going. Useful to actually hit the ring.

maybe not on pc but if your facing > and you turn left on console it takes time for the camera to move around so the view is looking ^ to allow you to aim directly at something.

Not just me either I got the tip from this reddit post taht numerous other people thanked them for.

I just changed camera follow player to max and then I did camera sensitivity to max and camera acceleration to 0. Changing the camera follow player to max made everything easier when flying because that was what I was struggling with and made my character be all over my tv.

Also that one with holding right trigger and push forward is quite good also like someone suggested here. Good tips all.

PS - as soon as I changed camera follow player thing to max. I ended up on the first trial 1:49 with no errors and the best time in game is 1:32. That is a huge step from always ending up +2:00 every time.

They just wanted to do the tale of the three brothers without actually doing the tale of the three brothers. She shows you someone lured by power and convinced they can change the natural orderr for their own desires. @unkempt nexus I agree with loom 100%. If you play on easy difficulty and breeze through the main story, of course, like any game, it will feel lackluster.

Try playing it with no HUD, hard difficulty, and actually taking in the world around you. There’s so many side missions and the companion missions are excellent.

There’s also a lot of random events that happen throughout Hogwarts that make the world feel very much alive. Also, if you don’t side with Sebastian, you lack a human conscience. That will be all.

I would only reccomend playing on easy, to enjoy the story mode and get a hang for the game. There are so many amazing side stories and characters to interact with, the beasties you can save, and all the clothes~ It is so worth watching the cut scenes, and hearing all the dialogue.

Instant: like Expeliarmus it's created, does something and ends.
Sustained: like winguardium where a caster focuses on it as long as they want/are able to sustain it.
Lifetime: No specific examples but things like the fidelus where originally this way and may be a variation of sustained. They last as long as the caster lives with no apparent effort on their part but end when they die.
Self generating: Blood curses seem to work like this where even after the original caster and victim die it keeps renewing itself as demonstrated by Daphnes sister being a victim of a curse that skipped Daphne and their parents meaning the curse reappeared from nowhere.

True though that may be hard to program. I have four characters.

Two sisters (twins) first magical people in their family (as far as anyone know's). My self insert Ravenclaw and a Griffindor tomboy. My characters diving into the books, the griffindor into being able to run, jump and basically not keep being told she's unladylike.

There's the slytherin as I said a self entitled brat with a chip on his shoulder and a weak chin. Basicaly Draco at his most whiny and emo crossed with Phineus Black. He blames his father settling for a muggle woman as being responsible for him considered a squib AND a halfblood. Now he's in hogwarts he will learn power and make sure no one mocks the bancrofts again. Or given his character make them mock him all the harder.

Then there's Vihaan Kumar an Indian pureblood sent off to English schools to hide the shame of his being a squib only to be accepted to Hogwarts in his fifth year. Suddenly his parents story o f him getting an "elite education in Britain" and making contacts is true. He's determined to work hard, make a lot of good connections and bring pride to his family now he can bring pride to his family He's in Hufflepuff.

I need all the conjurations. ALL OF THEM. Also, they 'could' impliment something like that, but it would be difficult because more voice lines, more payments, more variants, and coding an A.i. to pick and choose when to react to a set series of code is pretty annoying of a task.

So the reason the dialogue is so limited is because it would just be too much money to pay the VA, especially considering most houses have different lines, stories, missions etc, aside from main sides like the house chests and sebastians dark arts quest.

Even sebastians DA quest has over 40 voice line variants for every individual house. If you say yes to one no to the other the lines are all different.

I do wish, however, that there would be some kind of backstory to why we're now in Hogwarts. Late bloomer, transfer from wizard homeschooling or another smaller academy or school. Anything. Since we have this special ancient magic and we seem so special, like the Keepers, it doesn't make much sense to me that they didn't include something like that too. It might hinder RP and immersion, but then maybe the whole thing with us being able to USE ancient magic should not have been there. Could have been that we had a companion that had those powers instead and we helped them.

They do give you the option of saying "Yes" to knowing about special magical knowledge when characters ask whether you know about this and that, though, which makes me think that they added this so that you can make up your own backstory. You can decide what came before in your own head. But still, it seems weird that we have this ancient raw power and then don't know anything about what that might have meant for our character before we got to Hogwarts.

I would have liked the house points in the hourglasses to change through the year. Doens't need to be interactive just increasing amounts wiht each seasons change so you don't reach the end of the year with no points in Ravenclaw and SLytherin

Just watch them scream about it being bad because it's AI and taking work away from VAs. They'll tell you that you won't be able to know whether it's the VA or the computer, or they'll question how much you edited the dialogue the VA spoke or changed it around (which already happens so often so that argument won't make any sense).
