I think they do at least partially. The attacks they go for are sometimes determined by how close or how far away you are, but usually just attacks to dive closer to you to keep you from running away

Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if that's why there's random BS like Vinemire just charging off into the sunset away from you sometimes or other strange circumstances like that

Okay, so I did some simulations of 3 different Recasting Strategies:

1. (No Deconstruct) Whenever you get a bad Rare Attribute, recast it until either a Maxed Non-Rare Attribute appears or a Rare Attribute you want appears.
2. (First Rare Only) If you get a bad Rare Attribute AND it's the only Rare Attribute on that Souljade, deconstruct it for a Flux Shard. Otherwise, Recast the Rare Attribute until a Maxed Non-Rare Attribute appears.
3. (All Deconstruct) Whenever you get a bad Rare Attribute, deconstruct the Souljade, regardless of the number of Rare Attributes present on it.

The columns are as follows:

• Strategy: (See above) The name of the strategy used.
• Simulations: The number of Simulations run with the same exact parameters.
• Avg. Non-Rare %: The average percent of max potency of the 2 highest Non-Rare Attributes on your Souljade before Recasting.
• # of Same Rares: The total number of Rare Attributes aimed for in a build.
• Avg. Recasts: The average number of Recasts used to get the target Rare Attributes AND to max the potency of all Non-Rare Attributes.
• Relative %: The percent of the Strategy with the lowest Average Recasts taken with the same parameters.

Conclusion:

When aiming for a Jade with 2 or more Rare Attributes:

It's purely random chance, I've capped my fatigue twice and it didn't drop, doesn't matter the level you play. Probably won't drop if your fatigue is capped too

It depends what build/character you're using. If you can't consistently trigger defuse or counter to maintain more than two orbs, then that one is better by default. But if you can maintain multiple like Kylin in ult can with builds tailored to him, then the max +2 is better. If you're playing someone who can only defuse maybe occasionally then having +2 won't do anything since you can't consistently generate new orbs

It depends on the distance you are from her. If you constantly attack her up close during the preparation, you have to run away, but if you're far away from her, usually it means you gotta get up close. Not 100% consistent but the game gives you enough leeway beforehand to measure where you currently are then prepare to run away. You can usually defuse the first attack, cancel into dash back into safety if you're too slow initially

The issue for me too is I'm running Thunderpull without thunderproof, but that isn't leveled plus I don't get any attack buff from it so, far too late for that now. But guy in first place ahead of me is 20 seconds ahead because of scorch

What I mean is yeah defusing does summon the feathers back. But their hitboxes are very inconsistent, they may visually look like they're connecting with the enemy but that's not always a guarantee, even in levels like TI, if they're raised slightly higher or lower or knocked down, the feathers can completely whiff

So using ult as a nuke doesn't always work

But for thunderpull specifically, you can pretty easily defuse the first thunder strike, have that do all the damage for you, then just i-frame through the remaining strikes with a well timed skill use and/or some perfect dodges

Since you need to dodge out of defuse anyways or else her follow up aegis skill doesn't throw out any feathers from her curio

Not at all ideal but in theory it's still 20% more attack than you'd normally have if everything goes right

Which also makes moderation a must at that point so you have more leg room to avoid getting staggered by the thunder

Actually, I've been playing for 5 hours and my fatigue is capped, but it looks at best maybe partially true. Like there are some glaring inconsistencies with how it's working for me. There are moments it does gravitate to, but then others they just fly directly back to Matari, even if I keep the cursor on the enemy, and they dont' even bother attempting to reach them

Well with the very, very brief time I played pad before immediately giving up because it's a completely different muscle memory, if you so much as skill past the enemy, then you lose the lock on already. But on keyboard so long as you press ` as soon as the enemy spawns, it will stay locked on, so in theory, you could cheat by phyisically taping your keyboard every time

i think this analysis is missing some points

let's take concrete example and let's make it so all stats on jades are minimum possible (20%)

we got some jade that needs to have 2 windfalls. sadly it has just 1 and scorching.

we prepare 9 more jades of the same type (on average we will need 3 attempts to hit 2nd windfall). 3 of them rolled windfall, 6 rolled trash ->they become 6 shards and go to storage. we do not need to think about them anymore, they will be useful at some point in the future

so we have 1 jade with WF/scorch and 3 jades with WF only

if we change scorching to max non-rare, we essentially lose 89 recasts in favor of 138, net gain of 49. however it will take X number of recasts to turn rare into maxed non-rare, I think this number doesnt appear in your post?

so let's simulate average outcome, for now let's discard X value:
we make maxed rare -> X
we use 2 flux shards to add another (FAIL) -> 2 shards
we make maxed rare -> X
we use 2 flux shards to add another (FAIL) -> 2 shards
now we can do nothing with the bad rare, it has stay as it is -> net 0
we use 2 flux shards to add another (SUCCESS) -> 2 shards

if we add together all these numbers: we have left 3 shards in storage (the jades with WF that got trashed), what is 267 recasts worth (total cost 534)

now let's simulate destroying jade with 2 rares if one rare is bad:
we will need to max stats twice, costing us 2 times -138, what gives us -276
we destroy first jade, bunny hop on second jade - every time we do it, it's free - we need to do it 3 times total on average
we end up with 6 shards in storage, worth 534, however we spent 276 for stats - in total we gain 258 (total cost 543)

so deconstructing double rare jade would cost 9 more recasts, however this is assuming minimal stats on all plus I didn't consider X value

typically when I do this strat, I use jades where stats are pretty good already, i will use jade choice gifts/faded jades etc to get more of the jades I need with good stats

Yeah it takes X number of recasts to make a maxed rare, however, the pity towards the next rare still counts even when you can't get a rare.

However, I think I found out what is going on with my code now. It's because I didn't count the leftover Flux Shards towards the Recast count. I'll edit it to consider that and rerun the simulations. Should be a lot closer with that added adaptation.
