Grapple them back to stagger or tap dodge works. But sometime we get ping issue and things wont work so in your case it maybe that.

There are multiple ways to defend yourself and dodging ain't one of them

First you should look to be immune to stagger, then threaten them to make them fuck off

Ways to remove yourself from stagger can be:

1. Hold blue focus
2. Scale rush/air attacks
3. Sliding uppercut
4. Healing berry/armor powder (obviously dont start doing it as a reaction, but if you are finishing your heal and you hear a grapple, you will be immune to the stagger from it and can finish healing)
5. Charging a bow shot

1 and 5 specifically will also threaten the enemies while making you immune to stagger

If you charge a focus as they come at you with the grapple, they will be forced to make a decision in the air - parry or risk eating your focus attack, you've now put them on the defensive

And if you are fast and precise enough, you can pull out a bow and headshots someone while they're throwing out the grapple at you, completely interrupting their grapple and even going for a second shot

You can do this with musket too, but it will not stop their grapple or make you immune i think

It'll just do damage to them

and from the grapple attacker's perspective, if you are dealing with someone who knows how to defend themselves like this, you have better options too

you don't need to go on them with the grapple, you can try to grapple stagger them and then cancel the grapple, switch to your ranged weapon, and shoot them while staggered

the stagger from the grapple can essentially give you a free ranged shot

At 4000+ solo and honestly can't beat the vets when there's like 5-8 people left.

I'm like decent enough when there's skill and ult involved but getting combo stun is just a death sentence for me.

fastest way to learn it is to practice the correct inputs until u get it right at least 9 times out of 10

and to avoid enemy combo starter, you need to not be hit by the combo starter it's that simple

you avoid getting hit by either dodging or holding blue(reduced damage and immune to stagger from light attacks)

you cannot dodge forever but all you need is one correctly timed dodge->attack to catch them
