for weapons ,i will tell you everything is good and can deal huge damage and is viable in fights

some weapons are stronger than others though, so you can have it in just 2 tiers

i'd say fan, flying knives, staff and spear fall into the latter category, but the rest are also good

some jades you find can massively improve a weapon's lethality so i recommend you learn to use everything, and then just use the highest quality weapon you have, or most ideal one for the situation, or the one you have jades for

you want to be versatile

as for characters, that depends on the mode for the most part

some characters like tianhai and kurumi are meant for trios only and kinda suck at other modes, but they're great in trios

i just gave you some examples, but almost everyone is viable and winnable with, it's about finding who fits your playstyle and if you have a team you play with, what is your best synergy

the only one i recommend you don't play rn is Hadi

he got nerfed into oblivion

there are CC characters, damage characters, support/utility characters if i had to separate them

for trios you ideally need to make a team composition that synergizes together with dedicated roles for each player

you can learn more about that here

and if you want to see some examples of what works with good teamplay, check what they do in pro league

you can try every character in practice mode, but you don't need to get too hung up on it, you will probably change who you play multiple times

how you play with your weapon is what matters more in most cases anyway

I main zai and its not just about ultimaes you have to use movement, timing, countering, everything to either confuse or best your opponent. Ive played all female ones and just found i like zai most but they all have their own good qualities for every kind of player out there, same as weapons. Countering also is severely important to learn or escape blue focus some other way lol
