If you played overwatch and you are still sane, you got this

there are a few main things to consider besides that

1. you always want to keep line of sight broken

2. if line of sight is not broken ,you want to stay immune to grapple stun

if enemies grapple onto you, you will be stunned unless you're in a special action that makes you immune to it

for example the focus attack charge keeps you immune, or a scale rush, or in some weapons the sliding uppercut like on staff, etc.

on heng sword it's good to use the horizontal focus loop

once you've broken line of sight and gotten some distance with scale rush, you just spam grapple as far away as you can

until they give up or lose you

but in some locations it will be impossible to break line of sight, so in those cases you just kite them and keep threatening them with focus attacks if they get close

and maybe they fk up and eat a focus attack and then u turn it around
