Hey sorry for the delay. Have had things torn apart for a while trying to change to cnc vz toolhead, and just finally cleaned up enough for some pics. The VZ toolhead seems to extend a bit further in the back vs E34M1, so now working on some clearance issues with the hybrid belt motors (mounted upside down to allow room for the bed cable chain, but now that's causing some issues). Anyway, here's what things look like at the moment
The front AWD motors btw are perfectly positioned to push the lever of the Magneto filament cutter. 🙂

Next step, I printed out your double shear hybrid mounts to try also. Probably overkill and completely unnecessary, but I have exactly 2 of those bearings left over and nothing else to do with them...

Not as relevant to me since I'm mounting upside down, but fwiw I was looking at the files and I think the way the dropped corner/angle of the original non-double-shear version would give just a bit more clearance if things are tight, and I see the double shear top is set up to only use 3 of the mounting holes. Have you considered a combination of the two, to give a little extra clearance on the inside corner closest to the bed?

you have to reprint the motor mount since I had to adapt it for the double shear to sit ok on it

make sure you lay the part correctly, I did not make sure it was with the correct face down

Hey everyone! I’ve been working with Stanciu and am working on stocking kits for the hybrid mod that has all the parts needed (pullies, idlers, bearings, motors, etc). Just wanting to gauge interest so if you’re interested if you could react to this message. It’d be based out of the US with shipping in the US for now but not opposed to shipping elsewhere. Fits perfectly, and now I can reach all the way to my X/Y limits for homing. After changing to the VZ print head I was having to back off after homing the X axis to avoid crashing into the motor in the back corner, and ran into a few problems where the print head would manage to get into this area still and smash my fan duct. Will try to see if there's a way to remove enough links from my cable chain to get clearance to mount the motor right side up on the other side too with these mounts
Just to be clear, my issues with clearance are not with accessing the full bed area, but with the additional movement range required to dock/undock my probe in that area behind the build plate.
you should do the rear motor mount as well, they are stronger and are anchored in 3 points

I have some modified rear mount already that I found in community mods somewhere I think... that mounts to an extra support. I'll check yours out though

Yeah, overtightening the belts and bending the original towers inwards was my very first mistake when I first built this. 🙂

Here's the 2000mm/s. Have discovered a few things the last couple days. MZV is rock solid, but EI can't handle anywhere near that speed.
what accel is this test at?
50k, but discovered later accel_to_decel was at 15k
also 57V? and how much current?
insane results, I am glad you are getting so much out of it
After some more testing, basically I can hit 35k with accel_to_decel at the default 50%. Best I've gotten is 17.5k for accel_to_decel with the 50k accel

I am testing some motors that might have what it takes to get 2000mm/s much easier in theory
on paper these motors should have the speed of the ldo 2804 and the power of the ldo 2504
Around 58V+ I start getting occasional klipper errors about "motor short to ground" not sure if that has to do with my cheap psu or maybe my board can't actually handle true 60V...
2804 are faster?
yes, but less torque
I could probably go a little higher amps still, but I think this is probably about the limit without adding extra cooling for the motors during actual printing
My original 2504ac motors were running at 1.76 run_current just fine when it was just the two motors but had to put fans on their heatsinks to keep them from getting too hot
Does your metal gantry stuff have thermal conductivity all the way through to the printer's frame or full printed parts in the middle of the plates?
If could effectively use the frame as a heatsink for the motors that might be a big help at higher amps
the printed spacer is just for tensioning, after that it can melt of and nothing will change
nvm, it also holds the double shear bearing
I can make a version of the plates that holds the bearing instead of the printed part holding it
I don't know... I was just imagining something like aluminum standoffs to thermally connect the top plate the bottom plate or something... Or maybe aluminum bolts instead of steel would be enough to transfer some heat? I don't know...
My front metal awd mounts, can conduct a lot of heat
But they are still in testing

real rubber USB handles the moment
I took the cables that were messed up and spliced them together for the EDDY

@regal gorge question, the hybrid stepper mounts, I am using t-nuts? right as the holes that are there from the right angle plastic brackets, are not lining up

For 2wd printers I use the fysetc pitb v2
Even for the first awd test build, I did 2 pitb's
On my trident I did a pitb and a cheap mellow board and some btt drivers
I like mellow stuff to be honest I have yet to get a bad item
Pitb cand do up to 4.7A on the motors, so I could use some spicey motors to get 1000@100k out of 2wd
I got the board from them for 17$
the volcano copper block I am using from them is insane to 100watt heater and that block I get some really great flow

That fan supplier I found is for breathing machines so they have almost every fan we use and because they deal with medical people they ship out fast and its US based
The problem is, if you do more than 2wd, once you factor all the boards and drivers you need, you cant get a better price than the btt kraken

I changed to that 100 watt heater and the honeybadger fan failed me, so I put every fan I had on it switch from push to pull and nothing really kept up but this cooltron worked great
was about ready to pull one of my server 40x28 fans out

everyone I know with Ratrig Vcore 4 talks about how much the hybrid helps the y that is why I am trying it

One guy was like you only need it if using a heavy head or Idex and I was like no I think it works for any CoreXY with a long belt issue
which AWD helps with that to, just I don't know if I need all that yet
I think AWD would cut down on VFA's more than anything
For a heavy y axis, hybrid is better than awd
If the y axis isnt that heavy awd is better

Just fwiw, kraken will do 8WD & mmu all at once without breaking a sweat. I've only got 6WD + TradRack at the moment but keep tossing around the idea of adding those last 2 motors... 🙂
V1.0 kraken will do i think 8A on each of the big stepper drivers and runs 2x LDOs in parallel just fine

Btw, sensorless is hard to dial in on the y axis, especially with the way the tmc5160/2160 drivers handle sensitivity adjustments. X axis worked fine sensorless for a while but I switched to physical switch there too, just for the reliability. Don't want a false trigger messing up where the printer thinks its positioning is and then crashing the head into the frame at 2000mm/s. 🙂

2209s might be a lot easier. For whatever reason the 5160/2160 drivers don't have enough granularity in sensitivity adjustments
I am not looking for blistering speed just looking to basically keep beating the slicer est time and getting perfect prints lol,

The hybrid complicates resonance s and belt tensioning a little but end result is it does definitely bring y axis a lot closer to x axis
With AWD corexy + 2 motors running the hybrid belts (& lots of weight reduction mods) I'm at about 9500 mm/s shaper recommendation for y axis. 2 more motors to make the full 8wd would probably bring X & Y about even I'm guessing
Have plenty of speed at this point, but I think those last 2 motors might give a decent bump in print quality at higher speeds. At this point I'm more focused on getting filament cutting/purging working properly for my multicolor prints though. The extra boost to travel speed is absolutely nice for all the cutting/purging moves though
Print quality has definitely improved, but I have to say if I was relying on this printer to make money I would be going broke with as many times as it's torn apart for repairs or upgrades. I'm glad yours are making you money though! 🙂

I am running into an issue where klipper is asking me for a stepper_x with the extended_corexy kinematic. Has anyone else run into this?
Here's the config for reference.
With extended_corexy kinematic you change stepper x to stepper a, stepper y to stepper b, and the hybrid motors are stepper_c
I have done that. I built a, b, c, and c1 in and Klipper is saying my non existent stepper_x is invalid.

Yeah. Klipper recognizes the kinematics: extended_corexy and there is a directory for klipper-extended-corexy-kinematic.
I'm an absolute Genius. The default MKS toolhead board has a stepper_x section for the endstop that I copied over.

Did you brace it? What hotend are you using?
I braced it, have a plywood sheet with DIN rail for an electronics backpack (slid into the extrusions), and just threw a dragon UHF on it.
Tonight I got the 5160 pros configured in Klipper and mounted the 48V powersupply.
