I love this hairy ball
Its such a good glue for my team. It can take many hits(so it can switchin), it has a reliable way to confuse, it can attack with infestation for DoT, it can use Acid Speay to drop spdef by -2 WHILE dealing poison damage, and strugglebug hit both enemies in doubles and reduces their spatk by 1
I can rely on it even against super effective hits, since it can usually survive at full health too
Its such a shame that late game skills will just be Sludge Bomb and Bug Buzz, acid spray and strugfle bug are so fun to use and makes the game about strategy rather than big number
Similar issue i had with smt5, at the start it has a lot of depth with skills like fang breaker, but they never get an upgrade, so once the damage is not worth the ability to miss or not hit phys immune demons, they become worse than stuff like tarunda
Smt5 did have some cool late game skills tho, like Yabusame shot. It hits everyones, pierces, and always crits, it allows great aoe chip danage while not wasting turns because you get press turn
Somersault is the same for midgame, 1 target with guaranteed crit. Always had the 1st party member with it to get chip + press turn
I think one of the issues with p5 is that the skills are so BORING
baton pass makes up for them by making every skill technically have a powerful effect, but neutral damage in p5 feels like shit because of it
The support is so milquetoast too. Smt4 had such a great variety of support skills. War cry, doping, etc, and smt5 had their own with the gladi skills(weaker charge/concentrate, but from an ally to another, so it is nice in the press turn system if properly positiondd), bowl of hygiea, impaler's animus, etc
I just hope i can add to the depth of p5 battles by giving you more tools
