NAP a doom and two towers, send marches to these so even your 18s and weaker commanders can get points, then free for all the rest if you’re strong enough to fight your opponents. If you’re not, NAP the whole thing, for Res anyway, and let the trucks decide the winner.
In clash gather nuka ore, esp the smaller hq, NAP as above but, since there are an even number of towers, military bases and hospitals, NAP two towers and Doom and let the others duke it out for the rest. Boring? Yup, but guaranteed points as long as everyone sticks to the safe spot NAP.

It gives just enough points that you can get level 1 rewards when you can’t occupy buildings etc. Pretty weak point return, and more a desperation thing or boredom thing in my mind.

You get 500 alliance and 500 personal pts for collection. I have noticed if bonus apples for complete gathers.
With the march times and the gathering time, it doesn’t seem worth it. I only gather ore if I’m unable to occupy.

usually grouped by the timeframe you choose and how well you’ve done on previous matches. So it could be that all the stronger alliances are choosing the same timeframe as you - and they then do the matchups within that group. Have a look at your Corp affinity and grade; and they usually try to pair as close to that.

We often go up against people stronger than us but we work together to hold it and we don't complain here in discord over the other alliance, because they didn't create the matches. We always make deals for the start when asked to make sure people get points. But if people break the deal then we make sure it hurts.

Like to me it’s no big deal but I played a lot of sports as a kid and so I’m very accustomed to the fact that…well…yeah eventually if you win enough, you’re gonna face someone top tier and you’ll likely lose, but just pick up and try again. Keep getting stronger. I was taught to just try my best and then practice. You didn’t stomp your feet when your team lost to the number 1 team in the league.

Although rare it could be a situation like we had one time where we got paired with an alliance double our might. 8b vs 15b and the reason they had the same affinity as us was because they had just recently moved to a new state and had to start their alliance over which resets everything.

Everyone wants to win. Unfortunately, one side will always lose. It’s impossible to make a fair match up everytime. Basing off might. You’ll still get matches against team with stronger players. Honestly, the set up is about as fair as it gets. You win, harder match ups and you eventually lose. Make a deal, then go back to winning the following week

So when it says you’re Elite, Elite II, Star, etc? That’s your affinity. The higher up you are, the more points you have. You go down an affinity level each time you lose in RW or go up each time you win, but in Clash, you lose or win points, which may or may not knock you down or raise you up an affinity level, depending on how close you are to the next or previous affinity level.

So all that’s taken into account is the time frame, and your affinity

It may be 50% split among all time slots and and affinities, I don’t know, but it would be nice if we could get some clarity, transparency, about whether or not this is the case.

I agree 100% with this. We have been winning for weeks against Alliances we have no business beating. We started winning when we started gelling as a team. Even got compliments from opponents on our teamwork. Now, last night we were pitted against 2 massive Alliances and we lost. But we didn't make it easy on them and we learnt and we had a blast.

You get far more points when a truck passes your building than just sitting in them when they don’t pass

You keep buildings occupied with smaller players but then bigger players should clear the others that trucks are coming to, either solo or with rallies. Everyone should keep at least one or two marches open if they don’t want to move around a lot. But moving cuts down on march return time.

NAPs have their place. I’ve played with, and without. I prefer with, especially with my main, since I’m at work then, so I can place three troops and not worry about it until break time, 20 minutes into it.
There are some who won’t deal, though, and that’s fine as well. I enjoy being able to fight for what I want. And I’m d*mn good at it, whether I win the battle or not!
For me it’s aBout the fun, usually. I enjoy res war AND clash, clash more though since you can’t NAP the entire map.

Does anyone know how to change tower captains during res war? As far as I understand the first one to enter sets the max capacity, so we typically try to have our largest players in first. But to whom does it default when the first pulls out? And can you change that?

The Militarist and Overseer in your alliance can do it. There is an icon beside the players names in the list of tower occupants that they can press which gives them the option to change.

It depends on your League,time slot etc... The big ones maybe lost against their opponents,so they're now in your league. They will win against the weaker ones And they'll go to higher League.... It's how it works 😉

I don't think individual points matter other than rewards but your alliance need to hold buildings because each building gives a specific number of points per minute

We were at elite and even with having an even split of buildings we were getting demolished with the water trucks. It was ridiculous. We agreed to the Nap because the other team was seriously underpowered. It would have been like stomping kindergartners. But we only got one water truck the entire event.

That is why we stopped splitting the Map. We leave doom and 2 towers safe for the event. Everything else is ffa. Splitting the map leaves it up to the trucks and they almost always favor a side

It isnt the sum of each member’s points. Alliance points and Member points are calculated seperately (but based on the same ways to get points).

The other option is to only split for the first 20-30 minutes and then you have the last half to “correct” for the uneven water distribution.

How do they determine who your opponent will be in resivior war or alliance clash. We get horribly paired every week its becoming to not be fun no more. The biggest hq we have is a 33 and he has 300 mil in might and we have 40 people in our alliance. We are latterly going up against an alliance double the player double the alliance might and has t11 we only have t10 with hq being 33 how does this work

Your opponent is determined by time slot, league, and corps affinity. The game first looks at your slot, then it looks at the league you are in (Elite I, Veteran II, etc.) and it looks at your affinity (your points). If you check the pins, or the information in the game, it tells you this, as well.

People move up and down. Big alliances lose and get pushed back down to lower leagues. Alliances move to new states and start from scratch. There are all kinds of reasons why it happens. Eventually you come up on an alliance you can’t beat, and you lose. It’s part of the system. You will not win all the time, unless you’re like…HOP or DAS.

@low quail We have 5900 points and are matched with a team with 18860. Their top 5 players have more might than my entire alliance. Just so I understand, it's because there is no one else for them to match with? The last 2 clashes, and last res war, we were matched with this team.

This probably been asked a bunch of times already, but how does the matchmaking work for Clash?

My alliance Corp Affinity is 1350, our might is 2.6bil and we got one single player with 400mil might, then the second strongest one isn't even 70mil. We got matched with 2 alliances that have 9.6bil and 10.7bil respectively... Their top 4-top5 players together are stronger than my entire alliance.

Also, I checked and we are the only alliance in our bracket with such low might, all the other matches are alliances with 20bil or higher, there one or two with more than 30 as well

I can actually see several matchups that arent the same league. It might be that not many Alliances in their league at that timeslot, but this matchup has 3 leagues.

Your war frenzy ends as soon as the event is over, so you can shield right away.
You can also shield before the end of the event, as long as your frenzy has already run out. It will still leave you in buildings and reinforcing anywhere you currently are.

Because Alliance Clash has the Ore Mines, points are calculated with the same expectations as Nuka. The ore isnt worth as much as occupation, but still counts for something. So points are calculated based on what was gathered before the end. But it waits to add those points until the troops return to the hq.
Same reason the Nuka ranking change from the last few seconds as troops return with their last points.

Each alliance has to hold a tower for 3 minutes for it to be considered theirs and first the water truck to actually pass through it. It is a consecutive 3 minutes so if you got kicked out even briefly it would've reset the timer

I’ve had them go over top of the logistics base often, but never actually through it for any team. It is certainly possible something changed at some point, but as of now, I only stay the logistics base if I’m not chasing the water elsewhere.

Are they ever going to fix the issue of trucks not going to the bottom footholds as often as the upper footholds in alliance clash? There are 3-4 trucks to the top ones for ever 1 to the bottom.

And that is counting ones that only hit 1 foothold on the bottom of the map.

It is definitely random. Our Alliance Clash matchup 4 weeks ago had every single truck except for 1 land at the bottom doom.

Never seen that and I have been on the bottom all but 2 times. Every time even if we are the strongest holding all footholds but 2 fortresses and 4 towers we struggle to win. Many times we have come in 3rd just because we never got any trucks.

I think part of the issue with res and clash is that a lot of alliances have people who go to a different alliance for WK. if they have troops in alliance infirmary, but not the coins to get them back, they aren’t in their regular alliance for their usual time slot.

Imo no, that's the point of Corp affinity. If we are getting matched based on might, we will be evenly match in all league grade. Stronger alliance should win and increase in their alliance grade. Random matchmake means u face some overpowered and some weaklings. The matchup is pretty decent compared to earlier days where people can just leave their alliance and rejoin after the matching is completed, it is not bs like nuka which does hq level matching.

I do decent for both my characters. It's more of nuka goes against the idea of matchmaking. Puzzle duel is based on your points, wasteland and res/clash as well. Nuka matchmake mechanics is based on hq level with the tradeoff being the reward is better at higher tier. If you are stronger in the others, u move to a better bracket with better rewards. Nuka doesn't have a mechanic for that except one choosing to upgrade hq?

Well nuka bases match making off of hq because the difference in strength between some hq is enormous. Mainly the tier transition hqs. Nuka is also a solo event where as res and clash is an alliance even where you can work together as a team to achieve your goal. Puzzle duel is at it's most basic a fight between one person's heros and another person's heros. You aren't limited by anything with heros si theoretically you could be a hq 18 and have all +8 heros. They might not be red starred but you can get them to +8

I dont understand the ranking and match up systems in place. How do these alliances with monster players (unless recently moved) not have more trophies keeping them well above the range of the average alliance.

There should absolutely be a power factor in seperating alliances at least to some extent.

if you play peacefully, usually monster opponent would not break NAP, unless they are completely bully. at least i don’t see such bully alliances very often. good chance that you can still get your full points and loser award, which should still be something for most players. good luck!

Try changing the time you do res war. That might help since we are matched with affinity and time slot. You could be in the lowest affinity with 500 mil might player and still lose to a team with only a 250 might player. In res it always comes down to which way the trucks go.
To an extent it does in Clash as well. The difference is that in clash, unless you have no intention of fighting for more footholds,there are not enough towers for everyone to nap the same amount, so it’s fight or wimp out.

Match ups on res war are fun but don't always trust some alliances. They don't keep their word when you set nap up with them. 412 BOS bloody soldiers set a nap with our alliance got frustrated because the trucks were only coming to us and broke nap because they didn't want to lose. I get not wanting to lose but to go against your word is wrong in my book. Don't give your word on something if your not gonna keep it. Shows what your alliance truly is.

I have a question has there been an issue with mismatched alliance res-war. The one I had was severely out matched. Unluckily the alliance we faced was nice enough to give us some towers. As I compared it to hitting a brick wall with a plastic toy hammer.

How mismatched?
I often think we are mismatched but when I list out all the player by player might and HQ levels. Plus what league we are in, it’s seems close enough to be considered fair. If one side has a single big player vs their opponent, that’s usually enough to run the map. They just need to reset footholds and focus on trucks.
It’s always best to negotiate some safe footholds for a time so all players on both sides can achieve the base rewards. Win or lose doesn’t matter so much. Get those phase rewards everytime 😉

Well I can say when they reset the rankings, we had lots of mismatches until we got up to where we are finally facing similar opponents. I think our worst match up was 3 and 4 billion total alliances against our 17B at one point.

Now I know it evens out as we progress. We finally are the "small" guys currently. 30B vs 37B for the current match up. I think there will always be an issue with mismatches but as the bigger ones climb, it will start to even out. It just has this cycle because the new states gets players that spend and grow and new big alliances are made.

But it will also never be completely even.
