Purely for trying to get higher rank % in Ace Commander, t7 spam is great and good for a few "Have x amount of troop" achievements but, getting rid of them or promoting them is also a pain. It's a double edged sword of sure, you got great points for cheap but now you're stuck with an army of t7's. lol

If you main troop is Rider but you have t1 riders mixed with your highest rank- they lower the efficiency of the defence. Like when someone sends weaker of the same unit to your lairs- your casualties skyrocket.

I think it's both Shooters and Fighters. Awhile ago they "balanced" regular lairs for Shooters and Fighters but I don't think they applied it to special event lairs so they are still tougher for Shooters/Fighters.
