Our Zenith war just started. Is it normal for the top alliances to all leave their alliances and join one alliance as a super alliance to keep one certain person in the Zenith Hub? Or is it normally just random alliances that participate?

The top 20 alliances all joined a backup alliance then used the back up alliance as the main alliance to participate in the war. And then people from those same top 20 alliances are attacking the Zenith hub.....I am very confused.
