I was suprised, but with Mali G52 driver and the latest Vita3k it is suprisingly capable for Vita. Huge misses are the triggers (digital and clicky as hell) and the non-transparent shoulder buttons. I can get used to the different d-pad and buttons

update 2: seems like the android shenanigans are over for me, have not had any more issues after factory resetting and NOT connecting wifi until the anbernic setup fully completed (you reach home screen) and I additionally uninstalled everything possible to uninstall on the device (not sure if necessary)

I used the developer settings and the USB debugging to delete some system apps (aka anbernic bloat) via a connected PC

as I said initially do not plan to really use android a lot but now it's fairly minimal and clean if I ever need to go there

The surprising thing was that the photos on the rescue site were quite poor quality, so when I went and picked her up, turns out she's a fairly rare breed. She is a Khao Manee, which weren't even seen outside of Thailand until 1999! They were a cat breed for royalty waaaaay back when.

If I have an old sd card that I used for my dual setup with muOS on one card, and a blank card I inserted into it before putting my ROMs on, would that ROM card work on the Linux side of the vita pro?

the rom card would "work" as in it can be recognised, but the folder layout probably won't match up

if you changed the folders to match up to the Vita Pro and Linux OS you are using, it could be made work on all your devices

Ok, I’ll probably have to learn more about. I’ve been collecting handhelds for awhile but still feel very much like a novice when it comes to working with the software. I thought the layout was already the same, because when I put the blank card into like a 35xx sp or something, it recognized the Linux folder layout, and then I put all my ROMs on it. That card was meant to be used between all the xx devices I have.

yeah that works because muOS doesn't care about your folder structure

think of the vita pro in it's current state like this: if you got SD1 inserted it will attempt to boot from it first (this is where the anbernic stock linux OS lives by default) and I think choosing knulli or muOS for it is a decent choice

if SD1 is not inserted it will boot into android on internal storage but that is also the janky anbernic android build

the second SD slot for a potential SD2 with games, media, etc. can be seen by both, should be formatted to be exFAT - I currently use the Knulli alpha so I ran that with a blank formatted SD2 in there and let emulation station populate all the folders where they need to be - if you do this you can then also point android emulators to those same ROM folders if you boot into android with SD1 not present

the upside is that muOS doesn't care about folder structure so whenever that is ready for use with the vita pro it should be even easier to manage this stuff

my current plan is to flash gammaOS lite onto the internal storage to have a cleaner android experience even if it will be a fallback for me
and I got the Knulli alpha on SD1 as my daily driver / main operating system but I will probably switch to muOS once that is ready for prime time

this is still gonna take some time I imagine but ultimately the combo of muOS + gammOS lite sounds pretty good to me and given both operating systems live on their own separated storage gives great flexibility so you can mess with them and have all your media on a shared second SD

The deeper I dive into the hobby the more I learn about it. The idea of having android and Linux piques my curiosity and makes me want to add to my collection. I’m trying to find the perfect mix of EDC, so I wanted to try and use it that way.

I’m old school though because the only way I’ve ever added mp3s is ripping the cd through iTunes and putting it on an iPod.

So how do you make a device into a music player?

i just load the music onto an SD card

and use the Miyoo mini to play them with headphones on lol

so it power output into the headphones

the dac/amp fixes most of the issues relating to sound. codecs, chambers and stuff

I would think the vita is kinda big for that. Something like the TrimUI brick is very good in terms of size, has both Bluetooth and 3.5mm jack, and you can get a huge sd card to hold all your retro games and songs.

Well I guess it boils down to 3 things: 1)I wasn’t sure how big it was or how it fits in pockets (I tend to wear pants/shorts with big pockets). 2) I’m used to other devices that are a little bigger. and 3) I wanted to get it to tinker around with it.

Rockbox is a true classic and great. Made a couple of videos on how to set it up, changing themes, using a USB DAC etc

And it has a gazillion of themes since it has been around since the iPod days

If you've a Linux device, go install Songo#5! By far my fav of all the options! The dev is working on themes next too, and porting to Android soon. Ugh I love it so much
