Make absolutely killer ergonomics, forget about the size, this thing is huge already. Give up the all glass front so people that hate it would see it as a perk against the portal. Remove the modular controls or if you really want to do it make dpad and stick position swappable for the weird people that want to play dpad centric games on a 7inch. Keep the 865 to keep the costs down, after all you position it as a streaming handheld, 865 is ok for android games and low-mid retro gaming, even a good portion of switch will run because of insane driver support. But they just literally made a worse portal with the only redeeming quality being full size tmr sticks. AYN rightfully responded by slashing the prices on base portal and completely destroying mangmis sales, all because they could not differentiate themselves from the portal enough to make even a slight incentive to give up power in favour of other features that pocket max could have had but decided not to

There is not enough information for me to put money on it. What if they made one batch of like 800 units and that's it? If that's the case then no matter how weak the device is it will still overpriced after Ali drop due to scarcity. My current assumption is based on the RP5 price on this marketplace, one went for 135 including accessories and shipping, another listing went for 160 with retroid dual screen. Objectively speaking this has the same power, bigger screen and nicer sticks but module mess as a downside. A fair market price for it is 150 a year from now if even that. What it will cost actually depends on the quantity produced

Honestly haven't had a lot of time to use it much so far. The bit of testing I did earlier I was getting consistent 3-4ms decoding times for Apollo/Artemis local streaming.

The fan's weird. At quiet it's great, not audible at all. Balanced, you can hear it, but it's quiet enough to not be annoying/distracting. Smart/auto, even at idle on power saving mode, is louder than balanced and honestly annoying.

More comfortable than a Portal without a grip, not quite as comfortable as a Portal with a grip, but is a fair bit lighter than that so it evens outs. I don't think I'd need a grip for this

It's, generally, very good. They went for a clean and symmetric look. The d-pad is smooth and the start and select are on a single side and lower. This leads to a few ways I would change it. If this gets a linux build, it'll be a long-lasting as it will improve with software releases. Time will tell. I'm happy with the purchase, but got in early.

So much detail went into symmetry. You can see the exhaust length matches the top button length.

Before I was playing Black on the PS2 on the Max, maybe the portal's performance gains made sense. Black plays fine on the Max, upscaled, without the fan on. Tested it out to see if the PWM would bother me and it doesn't seem to. All annoyances are minor and don't have an alternative without tradeoffs. So no real reason to sell.

The Max got face button size and spacing right for me. That doesn't happen often.

Another game down. After putting in about 15 hours on this device, I think the best features are the screen and battery life. The controls are not at the same tier as those features, but still very good. The fan doesn't need to run much so noise levels are good. Performance is good enough for my uses and can handle downloading large files and extracting them relatively quickly. Solid option for most uses and worth a premium over the RP5. Not sure If I would pay another $30 to get it. Will see what the prices of other handhelds do.
