#Retroid Pocket 6
1 messages · Page 10 of 1
If the early batch is riddled with issues, then that will be proof that the redesign wasn't planned and that they just didn't care to properly give themselves more time to do it right.
OG design fan being bitter here, I'll admit that.
It could also be that, you know, retroid was just dumb and thinking AYN's Odin 3 and Ayaneo's whatever also coming out at the same time frame shouldn't affect their preorders, which, of course it did.
I doubt it had anything to do with preorder numbers since they 180’d hardly a day after they went live
My thing is really - what's the RPG2 even for? Having that is probably more likely to undercut RP6 sales than the Ayaneo or Odin devices.
That's fair, I just checked and it's 10k votes which is probably the biggest sample size we're going to get. Although even if fairly accurate, I assume this number is still skewed because the votes for a Retroid pre-order on their official Twitter are most likely comprised of pre-existing customers. I wonder what the breakdown would be including new customers. I know I wouldn't have considered Retroid if it were stick bottom only. I wonder how many others are included.
It's fair to guess that they already had the two designs more or less ready, before settling on one.
its for people who couldn't be bothered to wait 3 months 😄
Really the only reason to have gotten the g2 over the RP6 is if you liked the colors more. If that was someone's reasoning I genuinely think that's a valid reason, get a device that looks fun to you.
Otherwise I think they were being impatient
oh yeah colors too i guess
Although there is one other reason. In Eastern countries Android games are bigger there and supposedly that's their primary use for handhelds instead of emulation. If that's their case then sure the g2 will perform higher than the RP6 for non-emulation. That's valid too. Though I don't know of any Android games that don't perform well on the 8gen2, so it seems to me that it's not worth the tradeoff of not having 120 hz.
For westerners who are primarily doing emulation I'd say it's either collectors or those that were impatient who got the g2.
I get the android game stuff preference i cant imagine the g2 performing much better then the 8 gen 2 at android
or at least enough obvious improvement for it to matter
Yeah any gains the g2 would have over the 8g2 would negligible
Doesn't the 8G2 have raytracing, which the G2 doesn't, or am I missing something?
(I'd say "8G2 also supports Linux better", but give it time and someone will make a Linux ROM for the G2 too)

I just looked into it and yeah. Kinda crazy I haven't really heard people bring that up. Although it's probably limited to a few select Android games, I feel like it should be brought up more often.
Didn't even know raytracing on Android was a thing
I order on the end of nov, and I got ship rn
Maybe because I live in China
Chinese order get a bit of prioritize
Yep. Will probably be more useful once PC emulation matures and/or we get SteamOS
#1095014087232077935 not sure about the bag, but on the review russ was saying it would be better with the screen protector for the finger marks on the screen. I think it would fit in my rp5 case though 🤔
The g2gen2 gpu is supposed to be better for android games and it has android 15 and similar to the classic. The battery life is incredible. But wether that is a great reason to get 1.🤷♂️ every person can make there own choices 👌
True
Yea forgot about the fingerprint part. Messaged support and ordered one.
As for a case I’ll probably look into it elsewhere, don’t think I’m missing out on sth special when I don’t get their original one.
The RP6 is powerful, fast, fun, and incredible for the price, even if some of the design decisions made me whisper “why though” to myself.
BUY THE RP6

Yet another stick top review unit ☹️
i think they really wanted to advertise it to people that aren't usual retroid buyers and for some reason most people that are more casual with the hobby prefer stick top
it's because sticks are seen as more modern, and dpads are more traditionally associated with old consoles, all my friends why I played couch coop with in the past used the joystick at all times even in very precise games
that's probably partly true though
cause I think joysticks in general are easier to use
and easier to learn
The way it should be
well stick top is essencially Ayn Odin 2 Plus 😛
retro android should have dpad on top
Thing is ... all the RP6 gets you for dpad focused games is the higher refresh rate screen if you really want to do BFI. There's pretty much no reason to get an RP6 if you're into the kind of games where dpad focus makes sense otherwise. Just get an RP5, RPG2, RP Flip 2, or RP Classic.
Oh thats easy
Whats a bigger number, 6, 5 or 2?
In that case just get a Windows handheld. They are at 11.
Or at least go for the Claw 8 AI+. It's got an 8, AI, and a plus.
Wait I'm not that far into math
personally, i mostly play indies on steam and it's usually games that you can play with a dpad, which i prefer
I just prefer the way dpad top looks
Even if I am gonna be playing mostly stick based games
Yeah looks more " gamer " to me. Plus we will always end up playing something that benefits from this config. , the RP6 can play The Marsterchief Collection so...
Stick top is okay looking to me on the RP6
I think the Odin 2 Mini made it look best
Odin 2 mini is the goat
If RP6 isn’t better in some way, it’ll be a disappointment imo
I was actually hoping the RP6 would have that design of the Odin 2 mini but with more color options. It's such a beautiful design , like the Vita
If the RP6 was exactly the Odin 2 Mini with a 120 Hz OLED instead of a 60 Hz screen, it would have been an instant buy.
As it is, I'll just be satisfied with my Odin 2 Mini.
(And hopefully we'll get an Odin 3 Mini...)
Doesn't the O2 Mini heat up a lot
I think an O3M would melt
Gets a little warmer than the regular O2. But doesn't throttle.
Stability would probably be a little worse than the odin 3 but I think they could manage it
This is Ayn we're talking about
Part of the reason the o2mini had heat problems was because of the screen iirc
The walking enshitification of the handheld space
One of the worst
Almost all their devices are parted out with software issues
They stray further and further from the gold standard with every release
You gotta elaborate
I havent received mine yet, but from what I can tell software on the thor for one is pretty excellent
O2M and Thor were caked with software woes
The thor is still receiving updates
The o2m, yeah I've heard they never implemented some qol features so ill give you that
Is any company in this space 'the gold standard' anyway? They all have one issue or another, it's really a matter of 'pick your poison'.
Anbernic is the gold standard

Anbernic never fixed cardinal snapping on the rg cube or rg556
Erm ackshually they did
Pretty sure gamma did
Gamma is Anbernic ackshually
Here is my RP6 PS2 gameplay video, enjoy the weekend: 😎 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuhK_cuTdW8
In this video, I'm sharing PS2 gameplay – Gran Turismo 4 on my Retroid Pocket 6. As you see in the video, the SD 8 Gen2 chipset is handling PS2 very well. The game plays smoothly at 60FPS (no audio tear/lag/frame skipping).
My PS2 Settings:
• Front end/launcher: Daijisho
• Emulator: NetherSX2 (red version)
• Game rom file type: CHD
...
Has anyone received one yet? I’m curious if any of the other colors have less slick plastic.
We've seen review vids of the silver, black, purple, and retro gray now all with slick plastic. It's pretty safe to assume the one remaining unreviewed color will also be slick lol
A fair assessment
I just wish they’d ship out some dpad top review units
I just saw a photo of the black on the Retroid Discord, it's not shiny as the silver, I personally love the silver... 😎
Me too
Even though it's not on the Delivery Dashboard yet, I just got shipment notification of my unit: Retroid Pocket 6 (Second Batch Pre-order) Black / 12GB / Dpad Top.
I ordered 11/02
👉Stubbs, @retrotechdad & Andrew give first impressions of the new RP6, sent for review from Retroid. They compare to similar handhelds like the RP G2, AYN Odin 2 line, Odin 3, Thor, KONKR Pocket Fit, Anbernic RG557, Switch Lite and more. They also play some games from systems including PS2, Switch, PS3, Vita, Android, game streaming, and even...
Decided to ask when my order will ship (I live in China so ordered through Taobao). Right after asking them, they shipped it. Impatience pays off! Weird that they probably prioritize people that complain. Should arrive in a day or 2! (dpad top)
For those doubting the RP6 Black crystal buttons: https://www.reddit.com/r/retroid/s/z1FZkon8m6
Black dpad top just shipped
16-Bit Dpad Top shipped this morning. Woot!
If I placed an order today for the second batch of devices, about when are those expected to ship? Like mid-late February or even later than that? I never got the G2 I ordered back in November (got a refund) so I just want to make sure I'm the right amount of patient or impatient for this one, haha
Nothing'll ship mid-late Feb from China cause that's their New Year
Looks like this year it's 17th Feb - 3rd March, if this site it to be believed https://www.travelchinaguide.com/essential/holidays/new-year/dates.htm
When is the Chinese New Year? The 2026 Chinese New Year is on February 17, 2026, and it's the year of Horse. The 2027 date will be on February 6, and it's the Year of the Sheep.
Kind of surprised no one's posted this yet
The Retroid Pocket 6 is another stellar handheld with an excellent price-to-performance ratio. Let's go over all of its features and discuss why this ~$250 device may or may not be worth picking up for you.

Yeah, I can see the argument for "stick on top is better for 3D games". Can't really see the argument for "dpad on top is always bad for a powerful handheld".
heavy but great handheld, definitely my first pick if I was looking for a handheld rn
it's still pocketable
unlike the rp6
I didn't find the weight to be a notable problem tbh
feels as comfortable to hold as an Analogue Pocket or a similar game boy sized vertical
weight is very well distributed and there's plenty for your hands to grab
tl;dw: it's good but not a must buy if you already got something else you are happy with
no surprises there
dpad-centric pc games is exactly why I'm looking at the rp6
I've got some turn-based indie games that I have put on hold for a while cuz the steam deck's dpad isn't fun for me to use
Dpad top is probably gonna be more negative for me since I mainly play stick based games but I prefer the look of dpad top
So thats what ill get
Hollow knight on RP6
Me, not knowing dpad was even an option for dead cells…
For some reason it's not the default option
What stick caps are compatible with the RP6 ? Is everything from RP5 to Odin 3 OK ? Or even earlier ? I’m looking for smaller ones to adress the issue where the right thumb hits the stick while pressing ABXY.
there's 3 types
So what am I looking for on AliExpress ?
flip 2/rp6/thor
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256809062672151.html
rp5/o2/o2mini
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808608666971.html
There might be other cheaper listings but I've bought caps from this store before and actually received em
Thanks. And these will be smaller than OG RP6’s ? I have found that but perhaps a bit too small.
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EzNIYk8
No idea that's the one I don't own
i think the o2/mini ones are smaller and the o2 portal ones might be bigger but taller which could avoid the issue?
but they're also $5 shipped for a pair
I chose this PS2 game to show you the color saturation on the RP6's beautiful OLED display: 🥰 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6DH6Zj34FE

Out with the old...
Don't worry, I'll take that garbage out of your hands
on a serious note rp4 is still really good, there's only one problem with it which is the screen
The RP4 design is beautiful
I mean compared to budget handhelds like the 35xx the screen there is still pretty decent
given the price difference between them the screen on it better be superior to those budget devices 😄
yeah I know, but idk people talk about that screen as if it was complete trash but for my taste it's still usable today
It's a pretty good screen for the $140 pricepoint it is now, but was a bit harder to justify when it was $200 at release
I liked those funtastic colors for the RP4 also , the crystal one was really nice. I wonder why they ditched these colors
The crystal one was also cool for the mod crowd
The quality in plastic between RP4 and RP6 is quite noticeable. The RP4 feels kind of cheap and toy-like. The RP6 feels substantial. It's much more grippy than the RP4 which can slip out of your hands easily with the flat design and slippy plastic
Dpad on top gang
May I ask about your main usage for the RP6? And could you please share a bit of experience of how it feels when using the left stick on a dpad-top model? My heart tells me dpad-top, but my head is telling me to get the stick-top so my thumb won't suffer as much. I haven't really seen any reviews with d-pad top models. Thanks in advance!
It's simple
dpad on top if you prefer 2d games
analog on top if you prefer 3d games
No upscale? Why even bother. Crank that to 1080 AT LEAST then make a video.
It will be my general retro handheld device. Wanted to upgrade from RP4Pro for better performance on PS2, 3DS, and try more Wii and above systems
I'll try to invest some time in something that generally needs lots of analog sticks to see what the comfort is like without a grip. First impressions are it will be no problem. The grip on the back is pretty substantial
Same, I’m upgrading from the RP4 Pro. The 4 Pro has a flat back, so analog on it wasn’t the comfiest. Looking forward to hearing more~
I got the grip for the 4Pro and it made analog no problem. I think the 6 should be fine analog bottom with no external grip
Heavily doubt that
As someone who prefers PS style controllers over xbox, I really think it's just a matter of personal preference. either config will work,
After about an hour of playing a shmup with the stick, I can say it's perfectly fine. I hope top stick only people will shut it now and stop saying only one layout is acceptable. I know they won't though
I love how the two types of RP6 buyers are either the ones that like dpad on top or the ones that hate dpad on top and will tell just how bad it is
what if I prefer both
roll the dice
toss a coin idk
I would mainly just choose the option that I know I would use more
stick top is probably the safest choice if you can only pick one, since dpad games are often playable without much trigger/shoulder use, but not so much stick games
gba, ds, snes, ps1, saturn all have triggers and many 2d games
Maybe dpad on top vs stick on top is a subjective matter rather than an objective one
maybe both are good, even
Are they going to keep making/restock the 4Pro or is it basically done?
Was a nice cheap option I reccomended to people who wanted a device for streaming or Minecraft and 5th-6th gen
Seems like the only one still in stock now is the 16bit D900 Rp4
I guess the Flip 2 will be the recommendation now
does feel like it's pretty much done for the 4 pro models
They still have them listed on their official AliExpress store
D1100 in black, PAL SNES, or US SNES
Ah I see
I wish they gave us a “no all glass front” option

👉 Join me as we take an in-depth look at the new Retroid Pocket 6 handheld from @retroidpocket3773. The Retroid Pocket 6 features Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which promises to offer one of the best price to performance values for Android based handhelds. The Retroid Pocket 6 sees the return of a 5.5" display but this time features ...
I can't wait for this trend to die.
I personally like it, the finger prints not so much
I don't mind it on my rp5 and 477v but I'm not buying any more
Appreciate the ergo bumps comparison between the 5 and the 6
I’m glad it’s helpful! I’m always trying to think of different ways to help drive home what I want to convey 😅
Your teardowns are always appreciated. Would you say the RP5 buttons are the same size? I see the little nubs around them changed at least.
Do you think the grip is necessary as it was with the rp5?
I think it depends on hand size and what config you got
RP5 buttons are smaller
It's more comfortable out of the box compared to the RP5. I can't say for sure about needing a grip since that can be very dependent on the person. I personally never used one on the RP5 but definitely between the two, the 6 wins in comfort for me.
Thank you. Just unreasonably irked by the glossy buttons, if I ever end up upgrading I know what to shop for now.
They're the same size buttons as the Odin 3 (and Thor). Just keep the membrane from the RP6 and it should be good.
Awesome. To use the sticks for a consistent play time on the rp5 I had to use a grip, but now that I’m getting stick top I’m wondering if I’ll need it. I appreciate that reply. Probably will just order one with my rp6 so I don’t have to pay retroid’s shipping later if I decide I need it.
The 1st design was an attempt to solve the RP5 issue where the bottom left controller is difficult to use. But Retroid has organized a vote after taking preorders and people have voted for aesthetics rather than useability, so we are left with choosing our poison rather than having a do-it-all device.
I have agonized with this choice and choosed the stick on top and a grip. The larger bumpers will likely forbid you to slide your hands as you would with a flat Odin2 mini. For games like Zelda when you gently just move around, it should be OK, but for precision-platformers or fighting games for instance, I have bet on the grip.
Yea that vote thing sucked. I was all in on the psp/vita look of the first design.
I hated the first design 👍
I can't unsee the face in the first design after it was pointed out, but I still think it's a better design for ergonomics and I like start and select being at the bottom instead of above the face buttons
I ordered an RP6
But unless it’s miles better than the o2 mini, I’ll be getting rid of it
Couldn’t stand the RP5 hand feel
The original design would have been better imo
Did you try a grip?
I mean the screen alone would be enough to drop the O2 Mini and never look back
I remember my o2mini screen would get really hot
I find that it has a very nice retro look
OLED sometimes can be too saturated for my taste
Have there been any more pictures of the Orange rp6? I'm holding out until I see if it's as yellow as it looked in the last one.
How long does 4px usually take?
10-15 days
10 days being the absolute best case
Thanks! Mine shipped on the 25th and seems to have left china on 28th
Pretty hard to find any out there
It reminds me of the unmelted corner of cheese on my Mcdouble
It’s a little bit of a weird looking yellow. It also loses the cool crystal buttons that the purple has.
I got black myself but think purple looks so good
Entirely depends on where you live
I’ve had 4px stuff come in 5 days
If I got it in 5 days that would be awesome. I’m on the west coast

Well now you can get a first hand portal for $250
Have they said when batch 2 of RP6 pre-orders ship out?
I'm torn between these two colors
Purple is a little darker than the renders, but still nice
I'm glad they went with this purple imstead of the ugly gamecube color
Reminds me of this beauty
Anyone got the (purple) RP6 AND a Hannah Montana purple PSP for comparison? I'm curious how close the colors are and two separate photos can't really tell the story accurately.
I have the PSP, but I don't think I can buy the purple RP6 just for a photo. 🙃
Seems to be shipping now? Ryan Retro is getting his and it’s second batch
He didn’t get a review unit
It’s a PC game, right?
Honestly a good question
Supposed to be beginning of March after the Chinese new year. I got silver sent yesterday and they have started on the purple 💜 as well. So hopefully after the holidays they will start fresh with the 2nd batch.
Weird that I ordered mine on the 3rd November and mine was changed to 2nd batch and then when I asked they said ignore what it says you're first batch. Ryan's was probably the same I think he ordered at the beginning as well. But initially retroid shipped all the black models and silver purple and orange got held back 😫 and only just started sending them out.
Surely he got prioritized as a content creator. Don't set me on the hopium man 😄
Black D-Pad top 12GB shipped!
nice to see them getting shipped
when did you order it?
November 5th.
If he made any changes to his order, it gets marked as “second batch” in the email invoice even if it’s not. I switched mine from silver to black and when they made the changes it said “second batch” on mine but it’s still part of the first batch shipping.
Went to see when he ordered.
It was back in November, so definitely Batch 1 in actuality
It's mooooving!
Wow, I tried Gamehub for the first time. Such a quality experience. My Steam Deck will see less use now I think, at least for small indie games. Maybe I should have gotten the pro version actually
just emailed regarding cancelling my order
I’m not strong enough for these wait times
in a few months buy an rp6 i might
when ordering something from China it's best to forget about it and be pleasantly surprised when it shows up
my rp6 is in the air
Same
My RP6 is my air
Who is this frog?
As a frequent Aliexpress shopper, can confirm
Gandalf from The Chronicles of Narnia.
i smell it
Got hit with an import tax by DHL, but it wasn't that much.
6 bucks.
The package is now in my area, and I'll be receiving it tomorrow.
In which country the import tax for a $200+ product is only $6?
Middle East.
That’s very low tax rate
Yep.
I just got a psp today and it makes me want to get a RP6
If they stuck with the original design it would look even more similar
thats a really nice looking PSP
The one thing I wish Retroid would start doing is include a hole for wrist straps. I still have to take out one of the back screws and put the strap under the screw. An official hole would feel so nice
imagine if they had stuck with the original design and offered that red
god that’s such a pretty psp
reminds me of the flame red sp’s red
lebanon?
لو بدي وصلا على لبنان بدي ادفع ثروة.
ah
Lebanese imports taxes ain't consistent so I was wondering how much it is for a retroid import
basically
that's neat
ok now get a PSP Go next
I have this GBA SP! Love the color
It’s so expensive and I am not crazy with the design. It’s very neat but k prefer the normal psp
I had (have? somewhere?) one too and then my dumb teenage self tried to cover it with black sharpie and really janked it up lol
it’s like my favorite color nowadays lol. my favorite coat’s in that color
seems to have a bigger ass atleast
It's almost here, but I'm at work!! 🥲
Feel torn between the silver and purple ones
The people looks so nice, but I don’t know if I’m gonna be happy with it long term
Silver looks nice but the paint on the back looks kinda wack imo
Then I guess there’s also the black which would be good for anything that isn’t 16:9…
Package has arrived!
We frown at you and drown in jealousy!

Nice
My dpad top 12g blk ver. Out for delivery in NYC.Ordered Dec 8th, Shipped Jan 30th. Via DHL.
Seeing this makes me want a medium sized 16:09 handheld
Didn’t realize the dpad and buttons on psp are so much bigger
PSP size is awesome
Nowadays handhelds are too big. Even RP5/6 is considered small
I wouldn't mind a 4.5 inch 16:09 OLED retroi handheld! Would be badass
hahaha i was too and was stupid and got one of each to sell whichever i like less 😂
That would be nice indeed
I am torn between these two colors too. Share some comparison photos please
agreed
i will. in july. 😂
My orange one finally shipped today.
Very sexy
Isn't it at 6PM PST or am I dumb
I've always thought it odd that retro handheld manufacturers seem to increase the size and weight of the devices over classic handhelds like the PSP while decreasing the control sizes. About the only thing bigger on a modern retro handheld is the Analog stick, but then you have Anbernic putting teeny tiny sticks on the huge RG557.
I think they (or we as consumers in general) want to increase screen to body ratio and as a result the controls need to shrink.
Which is great if you want to put these devices on a shelf and look at them. Not as great if you actually want to play games. Wait a minute ... 🙃
does this have passthrough charging?
Yooo, just got shipping notification 🕺
anyone know if the rp6 fits in the onn switch lite hard shell carry case
Are the face buttons glossy or is that just the pic?

Non-crystal (and non-orange) dpad and buttons just kills this for me. The way the color looks might actually just be the camera.
reminds me oh how i was scaredof the red from RPm sfcbeing too brigh red
and ended up being awesome vine red
Look gold-ish to me , like Mr. T's handheld
I pity the fool that bought the orange RP6.
issa nice color but yea i don't like white on black buttons
their white buttons probably look better on it but I think they're chasing that sportscar look?
Such an edible color
Kind of reminds me of mac and cheese
Tbh the color is really nice in my opinion, but it's definitely not what I or probably most others were expecting. Don't know if it's down to the lighting and camera or what.
Not getting the cool new transparent controls really hurts it, though. I don't know why they felt like they should deprive orangekings like that.
When you play you can call yourself goldfinger
Wish they just used the crystal buttons from the black one
"I pity the fool who plays on my handheld!"
I have already asked on the Retroid discord but people out there seem to only exchange about parcel tracking.
Is there a rule’em all resource that lists the best enulators (past RA) for every system, as well as the best drivers, (including download or obtainium links) so as to setup things quickly when I’ll receive my unit ?
Imagine if we had gotten this but with matching transparent orange controls 🥹
I like this a lot less than I thought I would
Glad I chose silver
Personally, I don't care for the transparent/crystal buttons, so I'm happy. Or I will be, when they ship mine.
I tried tard-wrangling some AI into giving the thing transparent yellow buttons, but it just got worse and worse the more I tried
It seems most people chose stick top which makes sense given the power but I still want dpad top to make it look more like a PSP…
Can’t decide between silver and purple either
Go for silver I’d say, it’s peak psp vibes to me, besides the black one.
If I did get an RP6 I think I'd probably get it with the dpad on top. I've been playing a lot of 2D indies on my Odin 2 Mini, and I can't help thinking I'd like it a bit more if I had the dpad on top.
That’s a good point. I actually play mostly 2d games. But the 8gen2 chip inside rp6 begs me to run higher end systems. I think I’ll get dpad top and a grip. Put the grip on when I need to play stick centric games
The grip looks great cause it's nice and textured
dpad top is more unique i think 🙂 i'd prob go stick top for my preference but dpad top with the 8 gen 2 gives this a nice niche
That’s true. Thor is stick too (I don’t have yet but I feel eventually I’ll get one lol) so pairing with a dpad top RP6 sounds great. That would be an ultimate PSP/Vita + DS/3DS combo
Knock knock. Who’s there?! Black DPAD top RP6 😍
looks amazing
I think the colors they went with this time were... suboptimal. I miss translucent teal. Black looks sleek but boring. Silver and grey don't appeal to me. Yellow and purple are too noisy for me
if i had to pick a funky color for this i'd go yellow

Every time I see the orange rp6 I feel like it looks completely different lol
Looks great here
It's weird to see a picture of an "orange" Retroid device where it actually looks orange.
I call that school bus yellow IMO.
But seeing them all lined up makes me realize just how weirdly shaped the RP5/G2 is.
This one actually looks orange and not yellow. Gotta love cameras and lighting.
Bro I feel like i'm getting gaslighted every time I see this handheld the colors change
Seeing this makes me want a RP 2 mini
Fr
My orange with the Dpad on top just shipped. I used 4x shipping to hopefully avoid EU customs though, so it won't arrive for a good while.
Mine shipped a few days ago, but I get an error every time I try to check tracking, so I hope it'll show up in the next two months or so lol
That happened to me with a board game a couple of months back. Didn't show up in any universal tracker either. I messaged the maker and they were somehow able to find it, it arrived on time. Worth a try, to contact retroid.
Hmm. Alrighty, I can give that a shot. Thanks.
Cheers! 🩶 🍺 🩶 🍺

Gosh dang that's clean!
Thanks man. It has become my daily driver... 🩶
Gosh dang that gives me PSP vibes I'm glad they atleast have new colors with the crystal looking buttons and D pad
Yes, it looks exactly like a silver PSP on steroid... 😅
Whoa
Me too. I emailed them and asked to buy some of the black crystal buttons to put in the box with my rp6 when shipped but they said the didn't have extra stock at the moment T-T
BTW, the device has the tap to wake feature.
that's actually pretty cool
I made a mistake and ordered a silver 8GB stick top - they shipped it yesterday. I wanted a black one.

Lol... Dodo being Dodo
$250+ including shipping
Even without shipping it's not 200 bucks
well 230 is closer to 200 than 300
230 is closer to 250 than 200
It's exciting in the year where everything is getting more expensive
230 is closest to 230
250€+ shipping + customs fee of around 50€ when it reaches my country
i've never paid any of that with retroid or ayn
In Portugal when you buy anything that comes outside of the EU and it's more than 150€ you have to pay a customs fee
I wish Retroid had a warehouse here
279€ for me , the 12GB version
here in spain too, but with 4px they avoid customs
I didn't know 4px could avoid it , i am affraid the final delivery is done by the local mail and they will charge the customs fee
here it's delivered by local companies, but they haven't charged me yet
i guess it can't be 100% but it seems pretty safe if it's 4px
i've had spanish post and ctt deliver the last mile
CTT always delivers in my area , i will give it a try this time with the RP6 . It's either trying that and having the custom fee or getting it locally much later for a higher price also ... i'll get it from the website 😅

Still got a couple more games to test and record before I begin uploading my videos.
that's honestly one of their most reasonable takes they've had in a long time
Yo I can't decide between RP6 and Odin 3 and it is mainly because I like the color choices on both 🤣
Odin 3
you are welcome
Yeah I was eyeing the Thor for a while but DS and 3DS just ain't right without that resistive touch. I'm a DS snob.
The light purple RP6 gives me goosebumps though. That thing is pretttttty.
the screen size difference between 6" and 5.5" is significant
you'd be giving up a lot just for aesthetics
I wanted the RP6 for my endgame GC and PS2 handheld , it sucks that if i buy one today i'll receive it when grandchildren get married.
True that and I really want it for the PC stuff and android games more than emulation. I am well covered on the emulation front.
That's what I went with for my RP6 :)
12/256 Stick Top Light Violet.
Excited to get it in the next month or two 💜

I’m burned on Ayaneo but good shout.
Just so dang comfy
it really is
The grip looks different from the product pics. Not as seamless, more like the weird RP5 grip where the gap between R/L1 and upper edges is akward and not visually balanced.
Retroid please stop making your shit look different from the product photos.

Eeee it came in
Right before work, so i won't have much chance to mess with it, but
Super first impression, the Air X still feels a teeny bit more comfortable, but this is leaps and bounds better ergonomically than the RPG2. It is a night and day difference.
Screen protector is kinda garbo, though. Doesn't line up, no matter where you actually line it up. Took it off after like two minutes. I'll take my chances without it.
The paint job on the purple reminds me so much of the Hannah Montana PSP it's unreal, though. It looks gorgeous.
Speakers I think were a bit better on the RPG2, though. These are fine, remind me of the Flip 2, but the RPG2 felt more full bodied. Also, my speakers seem quiet, compared to other devices.
At max volume, it's like at 75% volume of my Flip 2.
Purple looks gorgeous
👀
I finally got my screen protector to line up after the 30th attempt, so it is possible, just stupid hard

Can anyone comment their opinion on the ergos
Excellent. Played for hours even with bottom stick and no complaints
Purple or orange are the best
I find the ergos to be pretty good
I don’t love the black buttons on the orange
Actually good. Like, really good. Miles better than the RP5/G2, better than the RP4P with a grip. Not quuuiiiite as good as the Mangmi Air X (that fills out the hand just a bit more), but honestly, the ergo is fantastic. First Retroid product I've owned where I feel zero need or desire to get a grip of any kind. It just...works. I'm impressed.
And it's purple, which is also sweet.
Like, the RP5 felt very...thin. Even with the bumps, the top was a flat slab, and the bumps were just the veneer of ergonomics, and something about the dpad placement just made it hella uncomfortable for me to use for longer than a few minutes without my thumb starting to hurt. Even with three different grips, it still bugged me. This feels good.
That’s good to know. You have the dpad top model right? I was thinking about getting the grip with the dpad top model because I thought it will need it
Yeah, I have dpad up top. Granted, I don't play a whole lot of games that need both analog sticks, so my knowledge on ergo of those is not as good. But for dpad games, it feels GREAT
Nah it's just a photoshopped g2 squished down I wished it was real

While you're at it, contact your ISP as well.
why's that?

dodo dildo knows zero about specs or tech. He is so unclued up in the space he works it's kinda crazy. I'm pretty sure he doesn't even know the difference between a 8 gen 2 and a 662 or a rk3566
I mean he has a point Retroid's aren't exactly exciting when it comes to stuff like design
Price to performance is their bread and butter
But that's about it
I've never even seen him do a set up guide for a handheld...I'm convinced he doesn't know how....
The rp6 is a awesome handheld...it's well made...basically a mini Ayn Odin 3 and has a 8 gen 2 in it!!! I mean wtf do you guys want 😂 crazy talk
Spoilt.....
Okay, so I have the world's dumbest question. I'm trying to find the options to change the LED colors on my RP6, but I'm not seeing them. Am I just dumb? (yes, but dont answer that part lol)
Yea it is a very good price to performance device
That's about it
What's more interesting is when Retroid dabbles in different form factors
swipe from the top - joystick light - arrow
should be that but i don't have an rp6 to be sure
omfg lol
I thought I was doing that. I wasn't hitting the arrow. Thanks!
Don't agree at all....I think there is a ton more to the RP 6 than the price to performance
Honestly, the RP6 may be the best device they've released, and I'm not a Retroid shill. I've bought a lot of their products, and then ended up selling them a short bit later because of something or another that I just didn't like about them (usually comfort, being real with you). This one has no deal breakers. It's good build quality, it's actually comfortable, good speakers, way more power than I'd ever personally need, and mine is purple, which is always a plus. This may legit be my one and done (though I'm probably gonna keep the Flip 2. Something about that device just...speaks to me)
I think Retroid is one of the few along with Trimui who actually invest on colors. The purple and silver RP6 look awesome imo
The purple looks SO GOOD in person. Like, the pictures don't do it justice.
It reminds me a lot of the Hannah Montana PSP. Not exactly, this is more of a lilac/lavender purple, where that was a more fuschia/almost pink, but the temperature of the color, and the glittery aspect of it is spot on.
The color often changes according to the pictures haha If it's lavender than it must look amazing
I think the glass front also affects the color on cameras, too. Seems to darken the color a bit. The back is straight lavender.
Do we know the tarrif estimation for the us if you order direct?
I ordered direct and saw no tariff myself, personally.
Took about 10 days from shipment notification to when I received it, though I ended up having to use a different website to track, because the Retroid one it linked to kept giving me an error code.
I think I paid $250 after shipping costs, I believe.

yeah, looking forward to it, i havnt bought a standalone handheld since the rp2+ (actually a rp2 upgrade kit)
Huge upgrade, dang
well, i have a phone+controller thats pretty decent (it can do ps2 and wii well enough), tho the rp6 will stomp it fairly well
also, im really tired of the limitations of that setup
My yellow retroid with the Dpad on top arrived today, but I'm doing overtime until the end of the month, so I don't even have the energy to look at it.

Here's the orange one next to an orange and yellow marker for comparison
It's a very strong colour.
How do you like it ?
Personally, I adore it. The all glass pane has slight hints of shimmer, and in a low light setting (say, the glow of a monitor) it looks almost golden. But it must be noted I love both yellow and orange, so I don't mind an in between tone, and also, I did not care for the crystal buttons most everyone else is crazy about.
As for the console itself, I am working overtime until the end of the month, so I have no energy to set it up for now. The buttons are very quiet and aligning the screen protector wasn't nearly as hard as everyone was making it out to be (I aligned it with the start and select buttons). It feels very light for the size, and for those with female/small hands, comfortable enough to go without a grip. I can see the sticks feeling a bit small for those with bigger hands, but for me they feel perfect.
However, I need to play something for a good while before coming to a conclusion on that; I am planning on testing out God Hand for a couple of hours to see if Stick games will still be comfortable under these conditions, especially for those used to PS controllers.
I am waiting for mine too , i chose the 16bit version but the Orange/ yellow was a super close call. The Purple one even though it's beautiful, it reminds me too much of the Hannah Montana PSP lol
I can't wait to try some WiiU and Switch on mine when it arrives , pc games as well.
I think we may even see some cool Xbox 360 emulation along the way now with the new emulator.
Man, I struggled hard with the screen protector. Think I took 5 attempts to get it, but once I did, it looks great. Yeah, definitely don't align with the edges. I was off every time like that. Starting on the longer side seems like a bad idea, but it's what you need to do
I haven't tried Wii U, but been extremely happy with Switch and PC. I had to give up on PC in the end though because Gamehub doesn't seem to sync cloud saves which is super important to me, and Game native just fails for me. I live in China, so I'm pretty sure both those problems are related to China's Great Firewall though. It's weird though since Steam Deck cloud saves work just fine
Have you tried Winlator ?
I haven't tried that one. It seems like Native and Hub are preferred
from what i can tell, gamenative is basically a frontend built on winlator, that automates a lot of stuff... so it should petty much be able to do the same stuff, just more difficult

Hey I saw Russ' video on gamenative. I tried to follow along but I can't get any games to launch
I just realized that the right analog stick has a little dampener on it. I didn't really notice in any game because I treat the two sticks differently, but I was playing around and finally noticed. I guess it helps with aiming in FPSes. Have other handhelds done this?
Is the Retroid Pocket 6 A Worthy Successor? Let's find out!
Buy The RP6 Here (affiliate link):
https://bit.ly/BD-RP6
Does this mean the Rp7 will have the snapdragon 8 elite and but around 220$?
Probably
I got an RP6 - compared to the RP5, it's a joke. What did they do? Bigger, much louder, cheap plastic. My RP5 OC is practically silent, whereas in the same game, the RP6 makes a loud fan whine.
Crysis 3 - rp5 oc - 35-40 fps. Rp6 - 31-38 fps...same settings
Is your rp6 also this loud?
RP7 may have the Gen3 tbh
I guess it depends on how quickly the get to the RP7 I'd say.
But then the mainline numbered entries generally have a 10-13 month life cycle, with side units like the 2S or two Flip units between them.
Don’t forget the mini v3! hopefully
Retroid has a year life spam for its handhelds , by then pc emulation and also Xbox360 / PS3 emulation will be more fine tuned to justify the gen3 upgrade
Probably

Nice 👍
Need to use the mod to enlarge text for that game though. It's just too damn small 😅
sneakyevil SD-RenderTweaker does the job.
The best place to play Gran Turismo 4 on your RP6 while waiting for your car to get serviced! 🏎️🏁
Yeah, I forgot to set up the sneaky mod files before recording, so I said "fuck it"...
Testing it in vanilla form is helpful, though. That way, folks won't accuse me of pirating the game and modding it to run flawlessly on a "fake" PC emulator.
😅 Fair call.
You ever used any OptiProjects releases?
I tried the 26GB GTAV release on my RP5 and seemed to run well.
Don't own GTAV on PC, so no.
I know that several games exist in "compressed" forms on the net, but I wouldn't touch them even if my life depended on it.
Especially when they're released by shady content creators.
Y'know, the ones that take you though 5 or 6 link shorteners that may or may not infect your computer if you don't have an adblocker and an antivirus.
so are you guys thinking the 12G RP6 is worth it over the 8G?
some folks are saying switch emu will suffer with 8gb, but i havnt seen any evidence of it... the only concrete argument ive heard for 12gb is trying to run higher end pc games via gamenative/winlator
doesnt matter that much to me tho, ill just stream any of those from my pc
as much as thats probably a important part for most people, i still think its makes more sense to just buy a PC handheld for PC games instead
but i do play a lot of native android games too, so im curious if 8G ends up being too little
well, if you have the money, and dont mind a larger and more power hungry device
no idea there, i dont have any newer android games
considering 8gb is still pretty decent for phones, i doubt there will be any issues there tho
hmmmm yeah okay
its been a while since ive had a phone that could be considered 'new'... my current phone is from 2020, and i got it used, heh
8GB is fine if you're not planning on emulating anything past, say, GameCube and PS2.
im planning on emulating plenty of wii and switch
Should be fine for most Wii games. I've never really dabbled with Switch emulation myself, but I believe like 8GB won't be enough for it.
considering the wii had 88mb of ram... i dont think thats an issue for it
IMO, 8GB just isn't efficient nowadays.
and switch has 4gb, i doubt the andrid base system is using more than 4gb
I played Mario Wonder 100% with zero problem. People say maybe Xenoblade will have issues, but 99% of the library should be fine
It uses about 2 or 3 GB for background data depending on what apps you have running in the background.
probably a lot less than that for a handheld thats not needing to run anywhere near the stuff your phone is, removed google apps, etc
remember that android is designed to run on a lot less ram than your typical desktop... looks like android's minimum ram requirements are 4gb nowdays, with special versions that go down to 2gb (probably just has less google apps, honestly)
oh geez, and the rp6 runs android 13, the ram requirements are only 2gb for that version, lol
hmmm, i think ill go with 12, just because i use a 4:3 device daily that has 12, and it would feel silly to use a 16:9 device with less ram
Yeah I hear ya
*Check the game out:

Probably best of. It'll matter when you dabble in higher end Gamehub stuff. Although I've not had any issues playing switch games on my 8gb rp5. Same for Gamehub when playing indie stuff
