#Kinhank K56/K560

Yes and Gamma OS Android 14 seem to walk pretty well according to this video
Build quality was really surprising to me, didn't expect that much, K56 looked much cheaper in the photos. In the hands it feels very well built and sturdy (unlike other devices)
Already knocked it off the table a few times xD
Logic she looks made for children better than she is solid
Also: This whole thread seems very hidden and incorrect - this device is not "upcoming", it's been released for a while now
Do you have one on hand? It feels like the most solid of all the devices I've had so far - similar to TSP
Because of the k560 was supposed to be a different one with g99
No, I don't own it but by its childish style
Only mods can move this from upcoming
You trippin bra
I'm the only one who sees this console as a console that Child has a look.
Not child
Not to be confused with "an adult toy"
That being said I wanted to test the vibration motor.
After, yes, in the image, the plastic looks hard.
No, not me.
And way too expensive
Yes but cheap i dont think
I can see it, especially the Blue and Orange model. But as I said- I don't really care about looks or first impressions. I prioritize ergonomics and function.
Ok
My main point was: It looked waaay cheaper on the photos. When I got it in hand I was very surprised. Also the button quality is pretty good.
I also recently got a Miyoo Flip - it was exactly the opposite: Looked so HQ on the photos but on arrival felt very cheap.
Dunno, my first and only from miyoo
True story
Poor P60 died 😔
Will probably still keep it because it's still the only 4:3 flip with sticks
At least the pictures didn't lie.
K56 might be better than Anbernic 505 for me, OLED just doesn't work for me on gaming handhelds it seems
Still a let-down though
Anbernic 505 is a dinosaur.
But w/e function is #1
Yap, but still I got it for testing because I want a nice passively cooled handheld with an efficient chip that does some GC/PS2
Will be interesting to see it alongside the Mangmi Air X when it arrives - should be similar power
Comparison between Unisoc Tiger T620 and Qualcomm SM6115 Snapdragon 662 with the specifications of the processors, the number of cores, threads, cache memor...
You know RG505 uses T618 right?
i dont know
It's basically just the Powkiddy X55 but, years later and basically no better
It's dead for a reason as harsh as it sounds
^ What I'm trying to find out basically :>
maybe give Android on x55 a go
Powkiddy x55 was quite popular, this one is just too expensive, should be below $90
As I said: I got the K56 for 80 directly from Kinhank on the last AliExpress sale, almost all offers were ~80 at that point - the price has dropped significantly since launch; I think it's a fair offer now and this places it in direct competition with the upcoming Mangmi Air X.
I got two main issues with the K56 though- both of which might be deal-breakers: 1. The screen doesn't look great- I was hoping for a good or at least average IPS screen but there's lots of IPS glow as well as bad contrast and/or gamma issues. Might be fixable but ironically it reminds me of the X55 in that regard as well. The X55 screen might even be preferable. 2. While the build quality is very good and solid, the quality of the plastic itself might not be. Something feels off - I'm quite sensitive and there might be a slight allergic reaction to something in the plastic for me. Anybody else got a reaction to the plastic (on the black model)? Now I wish I had gone with white
The K560 is currently in its testing phase, with production expected to move forward later this month if everything checks out. It will be available through their website, though pricing hasn’t been announced yet. For those curious, the K560 is essentially the K56 upgraded with a Helio G99 processor instead of the T620.
Has kinhank/helegaly provided any ota updates/support for their previous devices like the K56? Or is it more of done and move on approach?
and the k560 will still be under kinhank and not helegaly?
Not sure on the second question but I believe there were OTA updates for the K56
I just sent an email to Kinhank with my two sticking points; especially the screen calibration issue would likely be resolvable via OTA update. @raw copper Also AFAIR on my first boot of the K56 it offered a small OTA update that went through smoothly.
I have no experience with the G99 but I have to say for my use case the t620 did surprisingly well- very power efficient, keeps cool and plays San Andreas just fine on 1x even without underclock @ 60fps . If the screen issue gets fixed and I can get a replacement unit that doesn't trigger allergies due to bad plastic quality I'll be a happy camper.
Kinhank sent me back a one-liner in answer to my email, only adressing the first point and providing zero solution for either issue. Rather disappointing tbh.
Forwarded to Helegaly. Hopefully they'll provide some kind of solution.
I'm just interested in finding a solution to the problems. Since Kinhank seems to be just the seller, I think Helegaly as the actual producer of the K56(0) might be the more (technically) competent and also more invested in actually solving them.
Kinhank: "We offer comprehensive after-sales support, including free shipping and 24/5 customer service. If you encounter any issues or have questions about your console, our dedicated customer service team is ready to assist you promptly."
Helegaly: "We’re more than a store.
We’re a team of passionate builders, collectors, and players — curating, customizing, and delivering handhelds that celebrate the best of retro gaming. Every console we offer is carefully selected, tested, and optimized so you can focus on what really matters(..)."
But you didn't actually buy it from them in fact they don't sell helegaly branded ones
Is the hardware different?
I'm not bugging anyone. I'm providing feedback to the producer.
I know neither brands nor their relationship so..what are you trying to say? Also please answer my question if you actually know something: Is the hardware different?
Founded in 2020, AYANEO is a revolutionary brand for portable gaming consoles. Our team consists of passionate gamers and tech-savvy experts who want to provide gamers with the most advanced and up-to-date gaming experiences. We’ve developed a line of powerful and portable gaming handhelds, with the latest Windows operating system and the late...
Yeah, so these look like the same hardware, as well. Maybe even software. So any bugs/problems would probably concern both devices and hence both brands would benefit from solving them and should appreciate feedback.
Still you can't expect to get a response from Ayaneo when you bought from Antec that's my point
Oh, I'm not expecting anything. Just giving them a chance.
Also a chance to live up to their word and do the right thing in general.
But my point is: It would be for their benefit. Both Kinhank's as well as Helegaly's. Now whether they recognize that and if they also hold up their end- that's their cup of tea, not mine. I'm just doing my due diligence.
So far Kinhank definitely didn't help. Like..at all. Very weak response.
Who promises proper support and then just shoots out a sloppy one-liner without punctuation, completely missing the point and making a false claim while ignoring half of the message?
"I will report your issue to the engineer. Regarding the material issue, the materials used are the same, just the color is different." Aight, Kinhank.
Many people say the screen is bad. Overall K56 is a pretty disappointing device.
Overall is not too bad, build quaility is fine, but screen could be better.
Yeah, there's something off about the screen, my guess would be Gamma value set too high (in an attempt to emulate OLED contrast?)- not sure but if that was fixed/fixable I'd probably keep the device and try a re-paint to solve my allergen issue with the plastic casing. If not, I'll probably have to return it.
Apart from these two points it's a winner for me, just played with two tissues for protection. Activated "shade boost" settings in the emulator which lets you adjust brightness, contrast and hue. Lowered the first two, upped the hue- this way it's playable in daylight. (in low light the IPS glow is major, though)
Silk gloves would be better at this point 😆
Yeah, thought about that. Not exactly the silk glove kinda guy though and so I didn't have any just lying around 😄
Was mainly for testing if my judgement would change without the burning sensation on the fingertips when playing the device. And yes: It did. If I could solve that I think I could live with the screen.
Got a white and a green color can lying around..still assessing the situation though
Still surprising to me the K56 is even a contender with all this supposedly better stuff I've tested so far. As it stands I'm about to sell off the RP5 because of the shitty buttons and bad ergonomics and the Anbernic RG556 that just came in feels cheap with shitty buttons, sticks and uneven triggers and immediately had my hands cramping despite looking rather ergonomic for the eyes..
@polar parrot What's your favourite device for ergonomics?
It's brother the #1342191309959463027
Very cool.
I don't like the bigger handhelds if I did I think the k56 would be on top of my list
Buttons on the K56 are my fav so far; haven't played any dpad-centric games yet but man..this dpad feels great
Aren't retroid dpads the same
How's the battery life on that with A527 x Linux ?
I have good mileage on mine but some report having shorter playtime. Might depend on game, I usually just play 2d games and balatro
Similar, but not the same. I still prefer the K56's over the RP5's
i'm getting around 1-3% drain on standby overnight
I find the K56 speakers too silent xD
I'm asking because I still hope to eventually run Linux on the e6max
There is someone working on one but can't speak about it's current status
Hrhr, I never use speakers - even unplugged the ones on my max3pro yesterday when I was replacing the sticks
When it becomes available I hope the community work with the devs to iron out issues. People's interest in actually testing stuff makes development easier because devs know what to look for. These things take time to become perfect 😄
Not sure if an update would make my speakers louder, I'm still on the development builds
Not kinhank
Last time I charged this was 4 months ago and it's battery is still full
Helegaly K56? I really wonder if there's also hardware differences or if it's just different branded software
The software developers are in-house devs for Helegaly so they work with the Kinhank software as well. The engineer that kinhank would contact is helegaly
Yeah, that's how I thought it was, too. Still the question remains..initially I thought the Kinhank version had a 720p screen while the Helegaly had full 1080p ..but that that's not the case, I think
on the Helegaly website it's listed with some absurd resolution xD
"5.5-inch LCD touch screen, OCA full fit 2520*1080 Resolution"
So with lthe latest news from Anbernic, where their DS handheld will probably use T620, can someone with K56 tell me how does it run MelonDS and Azahar?
This is t620 also
In my testing on both it played enough to say it's good as a bonus system using like. Now with right eye disabled it might be even better
No right eye disable yet when I tried on my device before so can't comment before about azahar 🤣
