IMO beta3 is actually fine to run day to day, no bugs on the GameMT devices

#

beta3 becomes public in a week

Wi-Fi not working?

#

Would not connect to my wifi netwok on Android 13

#

Could scan for networks and find them, just would not connect somehow.

#

So back to Android 11 it was.. At least that fixed the issue again.

I might have to do another showcase vid for Polyfield on the e6plus. 8v8 battle Royal on very hard is actually pretty fun and runs nice and smooth

#

Been a while since I enjoyed some good crouched-in-debris sniper gameplay

#

now I just need quad touch q3a plus some good community ctf map packs

granite snow
# keen gyro The apk is not working?!

You don't need that apk. It's just for booting into Linux. You can achieve the same effect by just INSERTING* your Linux SD card and booting up the device.

Linux system is an emulator system specifically for internal memory. The emulators on this system have outdated versions. So, can I update it myself?

muted moon
#

using the lappy as a display with scrcpy. in the linux version, you can F11 for fullscreen mode

I have Android 11 64-bit with no playstore. It came with almost no apps, so I installed everything manually, even chrome. I think i even had to forcefeed it a decent file manager.

E6 plus device appears to have what I need, android sleep mode, touch screen, potential linux desktop with touch support, under $100 cad. the only listing I got is the one with the old jewel d-pad. I was wondering do people think similarly about the linux desktop idea? And I wanted to wait for the Zero touch devices, that seems to be increasing in price, they got better chips and can play a few gamecube and vita probably. Not sure if they are still worth it, I was hoping to them much earlier

radiant osprey
#

its called the e6 max? $200 cad for me.

earnest sluice
#

I paid $60 USD

radiant osprey
#

oh nice!

muted moon
earnest sluice
#

Plus, not Max. The listing said it would come with the jewel

earnest sluice
#

I really do believe the E5 plus and E6 plus are the best value for the money right now

#

Now that they’re shipping with good dpads

radiant osprey

#

I got an rg405v on the way so I can compare some emulation.

earnest sluice
#

GameMT fixed the issues with their devices, they are now excellent devices, but the resellers on AE don’t have the resources nor care to update their listings

#

Just like our beloved YouTubers have neither the time nor desire to release updated reviews about the current hardware revisions

#

Which sucks for the customer

#

But I get it. They’re not going to spend their own money to buy a minor revision to a device they’ve already reviewed, that will take a month to arrive to make a video about minor changes that no one will watch because it’s about an “old” device (in terms of keyword popularity and the almighty algorithm)

radiant osprey
#

hatsune miku project diva f series, which need some level of accuracy for d-pad shinanigans 🙂

radiant osprey
earnest sluice
#

Good question. I still don’t know. I’m waiting on a larger SD card to come in the mail

radiant osprey
#

have you tried the android stuff much? I dont get how it all works with dualbooting. Do you run out of battery and swap back into linux (like I heard)?

#

Thanks for the help dudes, I'm probably gonna buy 🙂‍↕️

earnest sluice
#

As far as it booting into linux, if that is a real issue, it cannot be harder than just clicking the SD card out to push the power button, then click it back in as soon as it starts booting

muted moon
#

I used chaosCFW in the beginning, but got sick of the 0% battery bug

earnest sluice
#

I would think at this point, a more up-to-date version of Rocknix would be better suited to this device than chaOS

#

chaOS being an old version of JELOS that originally shipped with the PowKiddy x55

muted moon
#

Chaos is good, but having your device yell about low battery and shut down when its full is.... Eh

earnest sluice
#

Since JELOS became Rocknix, and still supports the x55

#

Yeah, but Rocknix fixed the issues with the x55 power, I would imagine this might fix the battery issues with the E5/E6 Plus

#

But maybe not, since it is not necessarily the same charging chips

muted moon
#

On the topic of people who spew complaints about v1 and we're on v2, yeah that definitely is a sort of thought pattern that refuses to go away no matter how many times you correct even discord admins. They do it to try and push gamemt talk out of room, whenever it shows up in a suggestion conversation.

earnest sluice
#

I have noticed this with many devices, actually. Especially PowKiddy.

#

I suggest a device that I know is good, but if there was an early version that was widely reviewed on YouTube, no one believes that the issues are fixed

#

Or, they insist that its now a QC problem and that you may get one or the other

muted moon
#

X28 gets that treatment literally for no reason at all but that it was made by powkiddy

earnest sluice
#

When it is not at all a QC issue

muted moon
#

anD its one of the best t618 devices

earnest sluice
#

On the bright-side, it makes the devices cheaper

radiant osprey
earnest sluice
#

If everyone knew how good the E5 and E6 plus models were now, they wouldn't be the budget godsends they are now

granite snow
earnest sluice
#

The prices would go up, because supply and demand

#

I mean, I just bought 4 E5 Pluses for literally $40 each

#

Other than not having a touchscreen and having a weird form-factor, it is the same device

#

Oh... and it doubles as a battery bank with a 5,000 mAh battery, and I think it is the ONLY device under $100 that works with any USB-C power adapter

#

No, wait, the MagicX Mini 28 that was just released does also

#

But it has a recessed port that is not physically compatible with MOST plugs

granite snow
#

I guess GameMT is ahead of the curve in ways most people just simply do not appreciate yet.

earnest sluice
#

100%... the Max model is the only thing of its kind

#

Using the same SoC as popular cheap Chinese Android tablets

granite snow
#

It's sad that for now this yields a very much hit or miss approach in the retro handheld community.

#

People sadly overlook most GameMT products i've been noticing

muted moon
#

The CPU interests me mainly

earnest sluice
#

I think the Max is probably going to get mixed reviews because the SoC does not support Linux yet. Even proper Debian with the BSPs in place is a mess of non-functioning hardware

muted moon
#

A lot of youtuber parrots in the other channels kept trying to talk it down as no better than the rk3566 without having any knowledge of how the two cpu's Actuslly work, which is why the rg40t chat is so silent now

earnest sluice
#

There is an SBC with this chip, but it comes with Android 13 from the factory. There are people working on bringing Linux up on it, but the efforts just started in January since the first SBC to use this chip was released in December

earnest sluice
#

/s

#

I am willing to bet the E6 Max will be the best SoC in the "retro" category

#

I am predicting it now

granite snow
#

Under a 100$ for sure.

earnest sluice
#

Well, I don't mean budget wise, I mean capabilities wise

#

Like, best handheld for sub-ps2

#

Bar none

granite snow
#

Otherwise unisoc would like to have a word

#

😉

earnest sluice
#

lol

muted moon
#

Well it uses upper end A55 cores, not the shitty ones in the rk3566

earnest sluice
#

It has 8 total cores

#

instead of 4

muted moon
#

the cores themselves have a cache spread of 1.2mb and a flexible l3 cache of 1mb which is how the t618 is made, which means they can do as much processing per cycle as a t618, but it has to be tested to know for sure

earnest sluice
#

It is also on a 12nm process node instead of 26nm, and has the same power input. Which literally just means it will outperform circles around it

#

When the process node is smaller, but the power budget stays the same, that correlates immediately to better performance

granite snow
#

This should give us some kind of estimate in comparison I would say.

#

I know synthetic benchmarks do not always translate to real life performance...

earnest sluice
#

I was comparing to the RK3566

granite snow
#

But it's something

granite snow
radiant osprey
#

Do you like the speckled black? looks dirty to me, like dandruff/dust

granite snow
earnest sluice
radiant osprey
#

Thats good, I wanted it to looks like mini steamdeck, but I personally might pick the white one

earnest sluice
#

One thing that deserves attention but it doesn't get it is how well made the device is. The plastic is quite premium compared to other handhelds

#

This is clearly not 3d printed. It feels good

radiant osprey
#

do you have a comparison to trimui smart pro?

granite snow
earnest sluice
#

It has been promised to us, it will be coming in the next few days

#

He is the lead developer of GameMT's firmware and is a member of this forum

granite snow
#

I guess the shipping isn't free for any country.

earnest sluice
#

"i will also give a $10 coupon for extra discount
so the price is 69.99
this coupon i will only support 50pcs"

At least for US aliexpress, the listing is Free Shipping

muted moon
earnest sluice
#

Long story short, though, @radiant osprey you can buy the Plus and you will be happy, but if you wait just a couple of days, you may be able to snag a Max for the same price

muted moon
#

basically we get GameCube out of the box

radiant osprey
earnest sluice
#

Hey, me too

#

I check this forum 3 times a day hoping to not miss it

muted moon
#

As long as the batocera devs get an e6max we are guaranteed a Linux distro

earnest sluice
#

Honestly if you want any OS to be supported, pay to have one shipped to the lead developer of that OS

#

It is almost garaunteed that unless there is some major hurdle, then it will happen

#

Like, really, if one of us sends one to Gamma, then you can almost bet it will get Gamma OS. If one of us sends one to aenertia, it will likely get Rocknix support, etc

#

If you want Batocera on it, pay to have one shipped to a Batocera dev

#

The only major hurdles in device support are devices being locked down in ways that make development difficult, and devs not having access to the hardware

muted moon
#

I may offer to bite that bullet and send one to their devs

earnest sluice
#

In unrelated news, I was able to upgrade my Japanese Xperia XZ2 compact

#

Had to find a specific, outdated version of Xperia companion from 2017

for the e6 max
I don't have a lot of confidence.
I'm afraid you guys will devalue it if you receive no game.
So I added XIAOJI and DAJISHO to my clients

Actually dude, people who buy nonplaystore handhelds usually have a backup of apks to install
