The 35XX hdmi out even upscales to 720p. That's better than the retroid pocket 2S, and less than half the price. So they clearly know how....

I agree with you. If this is some kind of price reduction policy, it's pointless. Those who want HDMI in a device with a T618 chipset will either get Retroid or PowKiddy, thus Anbernic loses its potential customers to other companies.

It's nice to take a game you are playing, outside, come home, and just plug it into the TV and carry on playing.

Also allows you to use a portable screen, so if you want to take it somewhere without a tv to play with people (in work) you can.

Portable screen also works as a nice in car entertainment system for the kids.

Also good for taking round grandparents house, if you don't want to take over the TV but have a larger screen, but also have the option of taking the tv.

Loads of uses really. A tv out is an absolute deal breaker for me.

I can see, if you have loads of handheld devices, it's less important though, as you'll have others that can do tv-out even if one doesn't.

It's not just about screen size though. I meant if your only criteria was that it plays N64/DC/Saturn etc. There are loads of handhelds that do that.

Some people would absolutely trade up from a MM+ to a 2S, it's way more powerful and comfortable.

There are a couple mediatek chips in the t618 adjacent power bracket that haven’t been really used yet as well (p60 slightly lower, g99 a bit higher)

But both the miyoo p60 and ktr1 are really struggling to actually reach the market

Yeah it's not a deal breaker for me, but it's something to consider for sure. It's because the ergo is comfortable you start to relax your hands and then you click the buttons, so you just need to stay a bit aware while playing.

Well, getting very good results from the idle battery test so far on the 405V. Left an emulator running with a game, put it in sleep mode. It seems to be draining slower than even my RP3+. Now that would seem obvious since it has a much bigger battery, but so did the RP Flip and that had standby drain like a leaky dam.

Finally, got the unbricker working. Just need to tie up an error code at the end of the unbricking that doesn't actually cause any issues

Long story short, Anbernic be doing some really funky stuff with Android A/B partitions. Boot slot set to B but system, vendor and other partitions are in A.
I had to dump both A and B partitions, and also modify the flash file definition to include some additional metadata. PITA.

Also, the way the images are built, it has File system errors when trying to mount and copy from these system images

Yep I'm forcing a drain to calibrate.

Mine just cut out at 50%, now shows 0%.

Letting it drain further just leaving in fastboot

Then will charge slowly via usb plugged into pc, only once the device is completely dead
