RP4 also has a lot of trigger issues reported, but I still think it's a wonderful device. As long as you can repair it for free/cheap, it's ok. I would be more concerned about the "old joysticks", because streaming devices need precises controls.

I had an issue yesterday as well, the springs for L2/R2 are too long and scraped on the back housing. Cause R2 to stick. Cutting a little bit off fixed it.

It’s not too bad per se, the joysticks are “ass”. The L2/R2 triggers are enough. There are reports of non-functional R2. And I noticed the scaling for L2 isn’t calibrated correctly. L1/L2 incredibly clicky. rumble rattles. D-Pad is enough. Face buttons is enough. Performance wise, it’s like a step or few steps below RP4P. Was able to play Fire Emblem Engage for four hours.

Well.... in terms of top issues with the device I guess I would say the analog triggers are the only issue preventing use of it. So if you are playing systems that use l2/r2 you're gonna run into issues.

The joysticks while needing calibration, still function. Speaker phase should be an easy fix.

My R2 stopped working again, then I backed out the screws near the trigger and it started outputting some value again so... big trigger issues.

The whole assembly would sit on top of the nub and the case sandwiches the trigger and moves the magnet closer to the hall sensor. Seeing it as always on? That’s how I am seeing it.

I pulled this plug out for the left speaker (doesn't really matter which one) and then slightly bent out the teeeeeny little white tabs to pull out the red and black wires with their pin ends and switch them.

Nah, it will be fixable through an OTA. Maybe the LUTs just aren’t setup correctly. You can do a lot with an ADC

I think even though the trigger isn’t pivoting, it can flex as seen here. Which is enough to move the magnet closer. A larger initial deadzone would help

I’m stumped. With the back off pushing the trigger match straight down only registers a little bit. Put the back plate on and squeeze and you can get it to register 100% and the trigger is barely moving

I think @pastel niche is right. The tuning is wrong for the hall sensor. The threshold for activation is too low or something so it’s picking up other electronics on the board.

Armchair theory but you get the gist.

This wouldn’t be the first device to have issues with hall sensor implementation. Not quite as straightforward as a potentiometer.

I think I’ve done all I can do at this point. Now just have to sit and wait two or three weeks for LNY to end and GF to be back in office.

I could not get the analogue triggers working properly in Redream, only as digital. How did you go on that front?

I set up RA Flycast fine though, had to disable v-sync to get it to run full speed. Then yeah 1440 x 1080 was totally smooth at 60 fps for Crazy Taxi.

The only real big issue to me is the analog triggers, and hopefully some tuning of the hall sensors in software/firmware can address this

(with the exception of the scratching spring, people will have to open their devices to bend/trim)

Not sure if speaker phase can be addressed in software or needs a wiring reversal (which I did and works)

But I am just pointing out everything that I see.

Ok my usb issues were resolved by using a plug on the back of my tower instead of front panel. Device is picky.

I also tested usb to hdmi working, and two different hubs. One worked with video and one did not.

We just need fixes for analog mapping/sensitivity and refresh rate. Maybe my comments have come across as overly critical or negative but I think hardware wise the device has positives.
