on par maybe slightly better than miyoo

the controls, are super clicky, very vita style, but the dpad has less movement

I think if you like definite directions the dpad is good for you

activation force is okay, not fatiguing, very little pre and post travel to the pad/buttons

I have got Drastic and PPSSPP working in the stock 1.0.0 retail firmware though

PSP: daxter, street fighter alpha 3, tony hawk underground 2 , tekken dark resurrection were full speed for me

tekken was even able to go up to 3x with some minor dips

gran turismo, wipeout fusion, wipeout pure were about 66% at 1x

DS: I’m having some weird results (same game runs okay, when restarted it is slow) so I’ll report back on it

the glue they have used on the screen, if it gets on your shell it can stain the shell

I haven’t tried to clean it but I had a very tiny amount of glue become a yellow stain near the face buttons, not really sure what to do about it

it’s not obvious, as only my friend spotted it, I didn’t notice until we were on the metro under cold lights

Nov 5 is the most recent firmware we have to work on. There's a lot of stuff in testing and development.

As far as I know there are four firmwares in development.

Including tomato.

The device is more capable than the builds on the retail firmware will allow. Compiling for this one has been a headache. I got Saturn running but my core is not worth playing on.

Just one example

Ppsspp, there was discussion about compiling the most recent source for the device earlier today.

I think full speed PSP is possible for 80%+ but fast forwarding will be maybe 30% of the games

There's a lot going on with the CPU speed that has to do with it.

I have a firmware that lets me clock it to 2ghz and psp runs fine.

But the unit heats up real fast.

If I didn't care about retroachievements, I'd likely use minui here. N64, psp and DC don't play well anyways so I'd skip it on this device and play all the minui supported systems here.

FYI there are forks of MinUI out there for other devices that added more cores, so if someone is really interested, they could fork it for the trimui smart pro to add cores that it should be capable of running. It should also be possible to add more cores yourself, though I believe it will require some work

Thanks this was helpful. Using this guide I've managed to get CPS1 and CPS2 running with no issues. Mame 2003 plus also works and neo geo. The one I'm really struggling with is CPS3. Tried multiple cores and none will load 3rd strike. It works on stock firmware so no idea why CPS3 is an issue here.

I also installed 🍅 cfw to test if it was the cores or ROMs but no issue on tomato, the games work fine. So i don't get why it won't function under minui. Frustrating so close!

for those upgrading, you only need two files, trimui_tg5040_20231116_1539_v1.0.2.7z and trimui_smart_pro_SD_patch_20231115.7z

copy the conents of both files to the root of the SD card, overwrite any duplicates

on first boot, hold down VOL- and POWER to initiate the firmware udate

let it finish, will reboot into the new firmware

Seems like in most cases that's down to the default settings in emulators. But yeah there's other things that can affect that too (kernel version, etc)

But not the best panel ever. I think it's like an iphone 7 screen

But for GBA the smart pro is very nice

I don't knwo where you guys are ordering or getting info, but the info I have is that shipments from the company went out on the 18th, and a few days later, probably today, the resellers were going to try to send them out. Tomato has hit 1.0. OFW is on 1.0.2. There are 100+ systems and ports supported internally in testing. Saturn runs like shit. Tops out at PSP. N64 is now more playable. I personally love it for GBA. Shaders now apply properly and save. Another new opportunity for more cores has opened and is now viable thanks to @willow mantle 's creative problem solving.

Removing the screen on a regular 35XX was relatively easy. If they didn't change that part too much I did find that part easier to disassemble than a MM+

But I don't know how to buy replacement 35XX+ shells and that would make me hesitate

All you really need is an old credit card to remove it. Hot air gun or hair dryer could help but shouldn't be necessary (based on the 35XX design)

They swapped the buttons between the release candidate firmware they sent to devs and the firmware shipped to customers. Make sure you’re using the latest version of each.
