Make sure tou have downloaded the Map if you having connection errors. The update didn't include the map for Steam downloads

On Nitrado the servers can take a good 5 minutes to show up on the lists after the server itself says it is started. It can be even longer when it is the first time the map is loading. Hopefully you worked this out though now as your question was a while ago.

There is a tick box in the general section near the bottom called "singleplayer settings" I would advise turning it off, as it adds hidden multipliers and adjust things messily, it is better to adjust them oneself.

Well, you want faster leveling. From my personal experience, more than 6x and you will never really worry about levelling up to unlock recipes, 3x you may need to if you progress quickly. Which of those sound appealing to you?

6x kibble taming takes between 5-10 minutes usually. Prime meat taming rarely looses a single level in taming effectiveness compared to kibble.

Even raw meat loses maybe one level on a big tame.

The devs are aware of the issue, and are working to get it resolved so that it doesn't merge the tribes. Did you make sure to set your GameUserSettings.ini to read only in its properties after you changed it? I've personally had it reset back to its standard state when launching my server when I didn't have read-only ticked

You'll still need to place a floor for like a wall, but then you can immediately remove the floor and the wall will still stay, so will any ceilings placed after.

@red geyser Did a bit of research, theres a few things that cause the file to be regenerated when the server boots, always some "error", one of them is when you start the server with configs in the command line that are different to whats in the GUI, it'll reset, also leaving out the [/Script/ShooterGame.ShooterGameUserSettings] and everything below it, it'll also reset for some reason

Has anyone else encountered an issue with their unofficial server's event turning off since the update? Not sure if it's an issue with the host or with ARK itself.

We always leave the Easter event on, but it stopped working when the Fjordur update dropped.

Full bp may mean it's no longer being loaded even if it still exists. Generally, colours are the only thing that function after events (though they have removed the coloursets on occasion too)

I had a question i'm hoping someone could answer for me. we pay for our own PVE server(so not sure if this can maybe be changed in the INI's or what)...we're all picking out new base locations and was considering some in the realm areas. when we use a terminal to get to them they say max of 15 players and 30 creatures allowed....does that mean just for the transfer over to each realm, or is that for the realm itself? meaning there can only be a max level of 15 players and 30 creatures in a realm at once? i'm just trying to figure that out cause if so we'll have to make rules for people for the realms.

Can not disable runes, your only way to get around it is to reduce the special xp multiplier setting. That will reduce its impact but wont stop it completely

Load up a singleplayer world of your choosing first. Then once it's loaded, go back to Host/local, and run the world as a "Host non-dedicated session". Shift-tab, right click on your friend(s) you wish to invite to lobby and there.

I'm trying to get resources to respawn close to me and my base, and at a fairly high rate. I've found a few sliders that I think do it but still nothing has respawned.

Preventing hibernation fixes resource and dino respawn bugs, and allows buff-based mods (that apply their mods only in specific circumstances) to work, allows the S+ dino finder to work properly, and I do highly recommend running with the launch paramater. But I do have to warn that if you later re-enable hibernation (remove the launch option), it can cause crashes. This seems to be able to be fixed by launching with the launch option -nodinos and dinowiping, but I've not run any save like that for an extended amount of time so I can't say if it's 100% effective in the long term or not.
You'll need to add it to the steam launch paramaters- Right click on ark on steam, properties. Add exactly this- Hyphen included- -preventhibernation
It also increases ram usage quite a bit, but is very much worthwhile

That could be due to one of the mods messing with your games, I've experienced this on other games where removing certain mods would fix my game. For Minecraft my game wouldn't launch with X mod, in terraria i had missing chunks because of X issue with X mod. Research some issues about your mods or you can remove them one by one or in combinations to see what will fix it.

Trust me, modding your game can mess it up so bad it's not even funny. I modded gta once and couldn't complete one of the missions due to the mod controls interfering with the game controls. It's amazing how janky mods can be.

Modding ark is pretty safe long as you use good quality mods. Ark was built with mod support. And there’s different degrees of ‘cleanliness’. Buffing a dino edits it so it remains when the mod is removed, for example, as does samename remapping. Different named dinos (or any unique class) are removed if the mod is. With structures, it’s the case that they can’t really be edited without making a copy of them to edit, so pretty much any edited structure has to be a modded class. So, @pliant spruce , sounds like you loaded without the mod. Load a backup

so a while ago i set up a server with mods, but now when i tried to add the mods of a diffirent modpack on a diffirent server i couldnt find the .mod files in the ark mod folder i have the mod folder with the correct id of the mod but when i added just the folders and ran the game i just got vanilla with no mods before there was in the mod folder a folder with the id of a mod as a name and separately there was a file with the same mod id as a name and it was a .mod file, but now those files dont show up

I'm fairly certain given the size of Ark in general and the maps, finding free server hosting is probably not an existing option. However, I have seen fairly cheap hosts, nitrado isn't too bad, host havoc, etc. Or if this is just you and a few friends, just host it locally and open your firewall. 🙂

(self hosted, we work in IT) Battlemetrics shows it's responding to queries, it shows up in the public list, but after changing some configs in game and gameusersettings, it just times out when trying to join. I added the mods I use on SP and have ActiveMods with the priority set properly

It's insane how long it takes isn't it. Even for a migration from HDD > SSD. One game server I used to play on (diff game) took 12-14 hours to transfer from an HDD to SSD. Not hard if you backup and restore.. lol. Done in an hour

Hosting non dedicated is always touch and go with lag. You'd have better luck renting a server or joining another.

Dedicated server means that your account/pc/console will now be hosting and you will not be able to play, only sit at the host screen.

You can use "cheat addexperience 1000 0 1 ", but replace the 1000 with however much xp you need to get to the next level. On the ark wiki go to the "leveling" page, one of the sections is for character levels has a table showing how much xp is needed for each level for both multiplayer and single player.

Yes, the lowest you can go is a 10 slot server though. The server has to be steam only when you have mods.

It can, I recommend gportal more just because the UI is much easier, but nitrado will work just as well.

Pc, and then do not enable crossplay. Otherwise you won't be able to use mods.

technically you can.. manipulate the obby to bring them from a backup to a new savefile

What harvest rate do y'all run on your servers? I'm trying to get this as close to vanilla for my noob friends as possible. 5x harvest feels like 50x on singleplayer

No way 5x harvesting should be picking up 400-500 wood in a couple swings of a prim hatchet

I didn't adjust the harvest health, whichever it was called lol

Base rates have updated like 3 or 4 times. I use 2.5 and it's still somewhat high.

Is there a mod that makes the dinos sit and sleep, cause the way they menacingly not blink and not reset, is disturbing. Not Ark Transcendence I heard there are mods that arent compatible.

Is the lightning aoe damage on the mjolnir a set damage or does it increase from tek sword damage? Melee doesn’t seem to have any effect on the aoe attack just the swing and the charge jump

Kind of disappointing that the swing is great but that the lightning only does 294 max per second for such a hard to obtain weapon

The damage per second even dips to as low as 34 on something like a dimorphodon or anky
