Nope, they are removed when loading the savegame. You can see that because it will be smaller then the one with the structures.

Yeah, but well I've been enjoying my time in helldivers and enshrouded lol So honestly, even though Ark is unique, after all the struggle throughout the many years I spent hosting and playing ASE, now to have to deal with literally the same issues that were previously fixed just took the last bit of enjoyment I had with the game and most of the players in my server

sounds like your friend is the "content" so by that logic just play any game with your friend and it'll be fun
yea i've not been too happy with the latest content in warframe either, maybe try life skilling in bdo? there's more than just "grinding" if that's not for you
Not quite though, some of the tasks/quests in the game makes more sense when playing with someone else also a lot less grinding for the building part which in this game is quite amazing what you can do in terms of building
Also if you guys never heard of it, Icarus is pretty fun as well

yea it's not really for casuals, i can agree with you there, i'm not sure what your talking about with the lack of content as that doesn't make any sense to me, the game literally has more content that any other game i've played ( I can send you a list if needed, it's really long :D)
The armor system was changed, it's now alot easier and in some cases they just hand u nice boss gear.
Closest thing you'll get to Ark would be Atlas or Conan
i skipped all the story, cutscenes, and still 5k+ hours in the game lol 😄
This might not be a full fix but can help, try using the -passivemod command line to keep the mod assets and try to load your server. Plug is gotta be disabled as well.

yes and no... you could just try to start fresh to see if its a mods problem or not... but yes if you want to keep your progression there is nothing you can do except waiting for a patch from WC or from the modders

between my plugins and mod list I haven't a clue, I tried looking at the crash stack but I can't make heads or tails of it

Lethal have fixed his plugins and Pela plugins didn't affect the server, so plugins are not the reason
Its a wild card problem, if many mods such as shinys and super-cryos and qol are being mentioned, its wild cards fault. Stop pointing fingers to the ones keeping ark alivie (modders). Wait till it’s resolved, and then keep on. Or dont play on modded servers at all.

what is the difference between mods and plugins?
In a general way plugins doesn't requite players to download them in order for them to work, also they can make some changes to the game that mods wouldn't be able to.
I'd like to think of it as hardware and software, the plugins run on the back end of the server mods are the front end
Yeah, he took a break on mods probably, but he is still actively working on plugins for ASA

Not sure if answered yet as your message was several hours ago, but unlike ASE, the old setting no longer works so you would have to manually wild dino wipe either through in-game, while the server is stopped in the settings, or through external tools. With that said, you can install the Automated Dino Wipes mod and configue wiping on server restart, and/or schedule them throughout the day. The mod also includes options for nests, beehives and caves.

for my server it appears Shiny! is the issue causing crashes. ive tested every other mod with the plugins and it works fine, but with many of peoples dinos coming from shiny we are at the mercy of an update from either WC or Shiny! mod devs

anyone who has the shiny mod and has removed it did dino stats change I know the effects would disappear after removing but what about the lvls and stats
lvls an stats will stay , dunno if it still does, but used be if you removed it, they just lost the shiny ability, but then adding it again brought them back
Thx all the players on my server love the shiny mod and is all anyone tames so I don't want it affecting the breeding and muts people have been working on

problem is that is not a consistent issue, some people have problems with some mods and others don't, and there are mods like shiny that is breaking for everyone
Removing the Shiny mod won't delete the dinos, but they will lose their funny names like "Hefty Paisley Dodo"

My server runs fine with Shiny Dinos removed, but now I have client side crashes. I ran around the map until I hit a place where it just crashed, and now it always crashes on load (since I'm in the same spot, lol)

We do have quite a few modded structures since we new new
Klinger, Shiny, SteamBot (Klinger) and others
if there are modded structures within range, you are out of luck, until they fix it

Interesting, if anyone in the server can get to where you are without crashing they might be able to drag you far enough so you can hop back on and avoid that area for the time being

Question about 36.11. When they rolled things back last night, I re-added Love Ascended and re-checked the box, but things still didn't work. Now that 36.11 is out, if Im done with the event should I go back to removing Love Ascended and unchecking the box before bringing my server back up with the new version?
People were reporting that Love Ascended was causing a server crash, your mileage may vary

I don't know enough about Unreal Engine to say, all I can tell is that they're referencing an invalid memory address while trying to render something.
So maybe a file got moved, and whatever calling it wasnt updated

But tbh, if the modder is planning to fix the mod Id leave it. The issue with the RR and Admin Panel is the modders are out to lunch and wont be fixing them as far as I know.
Circa has also stopped supporting his mod. So I'm hoping that isnt the issue. It hasnt been an issue so far when deco mods have had issues previously, but we will see.

your best option is to roll back the map before mods added and remove mods till they fix them

Notice:
If you have been experiencing crashes or mods breaking since the recent ASA update, it is not AA/U+'s issue. This is a main game issue with the recent update. Wildcard is in the process of finding out what's going on and will get a fix out as soon as they can.
So please, just be patient and wait for a patch to come out by Wildcard.

Been hosting since day 1 in ASA and I lost count of how many times I had to do workarounds, pull files with ftp, restore backups and so on. On Nitrado and self hosting, modded and vanilla.
i tried the local IP too. still doesn't connect

Okay, I've spent two hours trying every nvidia setting I can try, updated my drivers, tried the studio drivers, tried forcing dx9 and dx11... the client still crashes at the same place on the map. I give up for now.

Yeah, it's not the client that's the issue - a mod is causing the crash. Typically mods with new models/lights.
What's interesting to me is that the original .ark save file is 7704 KB. If I put it on the server and run it with the latest build, it becomes 19,736 KB. I wonder what on earth it's doing to the save file.

Not quite true. There's a server crash and a client crash and they are probably different issues.

I don't think it's the fact that they're "unstable". They work when they have room to be updated properly. The problem is, no one at wc can use their heads and release a dev kit prior to an update so that way the mod creators they're supposed to "have in their best interests" can work on their own updates before these updates get thrown out.
The 2 mods that I thought were the issue, Circa RP Deco and Cliffans Wardrobe, run without issue on my test map.

i wonder how this is working out for custom maps.
So that was an interesting test. I started up Svartalfheim map, no other mods, in a single player game. Went to the trouble spot... no crashes. Gradually added mods. No crashes.
Took the exact same save files and put them on my test server. Same mods, same settings. Went to the trouble spot. Client crash with exception error.
I was going to ask if anyone had a solution since my srv doesn't work even though I've done what notrado told me, when entering the srv it takes people out immediately and quite a few mods but nothing, has anyone been able to solve it?
I don't understand why a map or mod could be "broken" on a server but not in a single player game.

Makes me wonder if a non-dedicated server might crash in the same place due to network communication errors (that a single player game does not have)
So for the final test of my "it's the network" theory, I started up my single player game as a non-dedicated server and had a friend join. His crashed at the usual spot on the map. I, as the host, did not crash despite being at the same location.
the only thing i see out those lines is it crashed an cant send the report to the drive/location specifed,
likely just becuase they havent bothered changed public crash reports from the internal adress used in testing,
like when dave an his purple rain was to blame
So there is something different about non-dedicated servers and dedicated servers that causes a client crash at a specific point on the Svart map, but the crash does not happen in single player or to the host of the non-dedicated server.
Something corrupt is getting communicated for some reason.

Open Steam, go to your library, click the little gear icon and choose to browse local files. From there, you have to go to ShooterGame\Saved\Config. The two files you need are Game.ini and GameUserSettings.ini

I don't know how you have your dedicated server set up, but you need to go to ShooterGame\Saved\Config\WindowsServer and copy them there. I suggest editing them, though, to remove one setting (looking it up)
In Game.ini, bUseSingleplayerSettings=True and you want that to be False for a server

Servers auto save on their own, yes, but you will want to make a backup at least once a week.
I found it makes the game so ridiculously easy because single player games are one person tribes. The game tries to help by speeding up certain rates.
For instance, meat spoils incredibly fast so you can have enough to make narcotics, but it's really inconvenient if all your meat is spoiling before you can do anything with it.

My server just has me and my friend so most the the map is always in stasis and wed prefer to use an insane amount of server memory to keep every area on the map active

like if I tranq a dino and then leave that area no wild dinos will be active to eat it. but if I stay and wait, a dilo or something will eat it. Feels really cheesy

Got it after the recent update
so svart is "mostly" working for me (running a dedicated server), but it did crash in one area and I had to restore from a recent backup to get it back up. so it's def not 100%, but it is somewhat playable.
SQL Corruption error fix
If your server is in a boot loop and you have a .ark-journal file or your logs show ERROR!!! FAtlasSaveManager::LoadOperationSql: SQL database is corrupt and the save game is compromised! Exiting... shut down the server and follow these directions:
1: Go to sqlite.org and download sqlite-tools-win-x64-3440200.zip. If the numbers before .zip are different, that's ok.
2: Make a new folder, unzip the file to that folder.
3: Download your .ark and .ark-journal from the server, put them in the same folder as the sqlite3.exe file.
4: Back up the .ark and .ark-journal files to a temporary folder.
5: Open a command prompt and navigate to the folder the .ark is located in.
6: Run sqlite3 Svartalfheim_WP.ark vacuum or sqlite3 TheIsland_WP.ark vacuum depending on the map you're using.
7: Delete the .ark and .ark-journal files from the server, upload the .ark file from your local folder. This may be the same size as the file you just deleted, that's ok.
8: Test your server, if it's not fixed, restore the backups you made in step 4 to your server.
the post did not, it was the fact you set them to wandering , hitch a dino an put it on mating, it will only breed when ure in render
so the crashing is it when people join or is the servers themselves crashing casue my friend on ps5 was able to join a unofficial with no issues

it's kind of both... if you don't put your dino's on wander, while hitched, they'll stop mating when out of render. stasis or no. but they will earn levels like they're not in stasis.
then i apologise, it only works for me if dinos are wandering , can achieve same thing in asa(probably ase) by penning dino with pillars an seting wander.The horizontal pillars made it easy to make simple pens
not for me. I had to enable wander to get them working. but it was back in january, I haven't done much breeding since then.
in ase i cud set dinos to mating, hitch them , they dont breed off line, only when set to wander
the biggest issue I had with the breeding is that even when hitched the ovaraptors didn't pick up eggs, even tho the dino's were spitting them out. so I'd come back to base and have a crap ton of babies making a mess of things. edit in asa

in ASE, I just used mating and dino storage to do the bit for me. I don't recall if I had to enable wander or not.

QOL+ has a hitching post that works nicely. and the cryopod mod (can't remember exactly but the creator starts with a "P"), picks up well too. it's a decent replacement.

I have a dedi running svart prem, and if I stay on the beach it runs fine. I'm running 13 mods, I'm "guessing" that is the s-variants mod that's causing the crashes when I leave the beach. it's just a guess tho. all the other mods are stuff you'd find in my base, and my base & beach are running fine.
I run my own hardware, just a small cloud virtual machine and bootstrap everything myself there
I should look into cloud solution someday. I just run my dedi on an old laptop. 🙂

I would do whatever saves you money to be honest. a laptop \ old hardware, or cloud machine is fine. Ark server runs pretty well with a basic 8GB and 4 core VM, I turn on virtual memory to additional 65GB. The Disk IO vram adds is negligible in terms of performance as ark does not do high memory I/O so its all good. For running just a server for a few mates 5-8 people, it runs very well.
If you setup a cronjob script, you can run RCON to save your server every few hours and zip up the saved .ark files and use something like s3cmd to push your backups off site. So then you can run really anywhere and always have restore points. Move between laptops etc 🙂

on ASE I used the exact same machine to run 4 maps at once. If you and mates mainly log into 1 (which ever the "hype" map is) , the other maps as idle only sit there with about 8GB Vram in use and as the server does not load in all maps if people are offline, the CPU is also pretty much idle.
So you can get away with running a cluster too without adding more physical machines
Ive been stress testing this heavily on ASA running multimaps in preparation for adding scorched to my cluster. So far the ASA process uses much less memory than ASE

I had something odd like that. I made the mod active for a short time to quickly spawn in some items, then moved the mod back to passive. but evidently that was long enough for those little bastard bugs to spawn and wrek a few of my dino's. a wild dino wipe fixed it for me. but in fairness, I was just setting up a new svart run and had only "just" gotten started, so it wasn't a huge loss to wipe the dino's.

You'd had to check each provider and their VM SKU to see whether they are dedicated \ shared CPU cores. Generally they are dedicated virtual cores

if they showed up after the LE assets were added to the core. there's a decent chance that all the bugs weren't killed off after you removed the mod, or maybe you moved it to passive. IDK. timing would be the key there. either way, all you should have to do is wild dino wipe if you want them gone. you dont' need the mod active or passive to do that.

I've not seen any on svart since the patch. but in fairness, I only have free reign over the beach area's. every time I venture inland I crash at random times. I think it's the s-dino mod, but it's only a guess.
My friends unofficial pops up now and works fine. We have the same mods. wtf
it's speculative, but for pc's and homebrew dedi's, I think the mods are the problem, not the server/client. but I don't have proof of that. Svart is working ok for me on the beach area like I've said. but I have 12 other mods on this run and I haven't gotten around to testing them to see if or which is the problem yet.
ah , i have not checked. I run all my servers on linux. ASA runs well on proton , so i run them using linux containers
I have done three dino wipes since making it passive when the event ended. Yesterday I removed it totally but I think with them having to rollback something went wonky cuz the game modlist itself will not uninstall the mod. I tried to uninstall it after removing from the .ini when they said they implemented the stuff in game. But with the rollback I wonder if the mod thinks it's active again despite not being present in the .ini so I'm just gonna make it a passive again and wait to see what they do with the big patch fixes.

That doesn't explain why Shiny! Dinos is breaking things. Unless it's the Shiny! buff that adds the glowing orbs that float around the dino that are the issue.

Heck I don't even remember what I used from that mod. My daughter did a bunch of the building of our base. That was the issue for me on the dedi servers. Thanks. I still have some nitrado servers with mods, but I do not believe there are any lighting ones. I will test that now too.
The server won't stay up long enough for me to send an RCON destroywilddinos. I also tried adding -ForceRespawnDinos but I don't think it every worked right in ASE. So RIP. Just going to have to wait for WildCard to fix or hopefully maybe the Shiny! Dino dev could disable the orbs on her end.

I cleared the player data and was able to log into the island but after moving around the map I crashed and wasn't able to join back without crashing.

unfortunately still crashes on startup with Shiny Dinos, but seems hopeful now that once the Shiny patch finally makes it through review that the client side crashes from other mods might also be gone. we don't wanna remove Shiny Dinos but also didn't wanna do it if still meant the servers were unplayable due to client crashes lol
We didn't remove any mods. Though pretty much everyone else is Xbox and I am not sure they have an update yet.
That said I am not using all of the mods we have installed on our server so there could still be issues with one of them.
I did remove all the custom cosmetic mods earlier today, but that didn't help. I was only able to join after the Steam v36.13 client update.

To whom it may concern regarding Unofficial servers that run, but cause client crashes when joining. I MAY have found a fix. It worked for me on my server. @lost gust This includes you, as I know you have had some previous issues.
I, on my active server, shut it down entirely, waited a couple of minutes, then using an FTP client, such as Filezilla, FTP'd into the server files, browsed over to /Saved/SavedArks/TheIsland_WP, and looked for my .arkprofile & .profilebak files and deleted both of them (after backing them up of course). Then waited a few minutes, and started my server. The game gave me the ability to go ahead and make a new survivor and I logged on to the server. I have not removed any mods that might be causing issues. I still have QoL+, Dino+, Klingers mods (all of them), I do not have Shiny! installed though. Never have. This mod is known to cause server issues, I'm not sure of client issues though.
If you are having client crashing issues, and have access to the server files via FTP, I recommend giving this an attempt. You will need to cheat ForceJoinTribe & cheat MakeTribeFounder if needed, but at least you may actually be able to the play the game. Best of Luck survivors!

I thankfully found this fix. Cause I tried to log in post patch, but no luck. Tried SP post patch, no luck. Even deleting mods in question. Said screw it and did the above method and low and behold, Im in game and happy as can be.

I deleted my single player and still had some crashing so removed mods one at a time and reinstalled, none were causing the crash (might've been after the update though I'm on PS5 and we haven't gotten a patch yet) one server still crashes after 10 seconds but it's not my server so I can't restart it, other server I'm renting from Nitrado works for Steam players but not for console so far.
I got mine up by just slowly introducing it back to the internet 😂
My servers never crashed it was always the Client side crashing. If I delete the player data I can log in for a little but as soon as I start moving around the map fast it crashes and then continues to , im assuming this will all be resolved as soon as console updates are released

Reboot loop on nitrado. Server fully updated. It’s most likely a mod issue but it’s not worth disabling the ones which may be the issue and losing progress

Yup. All players on my server would lose any saved essences they extracted and saved raw essence.

I dont use Shiny, so I wouldn't know this, but is it something that can be restored?
The raw essence, yes. The actual shiny creatures that are tamed will revert back once reinstalled but any extracted essence are not spawnable as they are basically procedurally generated.

Ah I see. Dependant on server size, you could take a poll on whether or not players would be okay with the trade off. To be able to play, but lose some of the mats, or wait for an update. Leaving the choice to your server community. Thats just me though

@lunar oriole See this message that I replied too. I found a fix that may work for Steam players. Console players will most likely need to wait for a patch. As steam is currently on version 36.12 while consoles are still on 36.4/36.8

It wont wipe them. It just disconnects those characters with issues and allows them to make new surviors. The old survivors will still remain, but as unconsious/sleeping dependent on what they did to log off last

That seems to be the most likely scenario. You could, if you play/own on PC, test it on your own survivor. That is if you have server file access.

And in order to find what your player data file is, you need to go into singleplayer, run the command whoami and get your EOS ID.
Tis a long string of letters & numbers. That ID is what will be listed in the directory as a .arkprofile & .profilebak file.

On console if you create a new character on the same account it says it will destroy your current character… I wouldn’t advise this ? Your character may be there asleep… but you won’t be able to access it again.
Well, you wont be able to access it directly. You can still pull your gear from it. And if you backup the .arkprofile file then youll still have it. That and would you rather lose access to a character and make a new one and have an admin just level you to that old characters level...or not be able to play?
I am the admin and no I would rather my players waited for the patch then have to do that for 50+ players. We haven’t lost access forever, just need to wait on a patch like steam players just received .

Just wanted to clarify to other console users that your wording was a little misleading.
Because technically, all you should have to do is restore the .arkprofile backup file to the server files, and it should disconnect you from the new survivor and put you back onto the old survivor.

I explicitly stated you have to be the admin. You have to use FTP to access the server files, this is done from a PC. You have to browse to the directory I stated. You have to take a copy of those .arkprofile files and store them into a backup folder on a PC. I also clarified in following posts that I am on steam. And that I have the latest 36.12 patch on steam. And that consoles will most likely have to wait for a patch for this method to work.
error correction memory? Sure its worth it if you really need the error correction. But most people don't for home use. Dedicated server hardware for a, for example, dedicated ark unofficial, would benefit from ECC.
That and DDR5 is just better overall.
I plan to setup a server cluster and am building a station just for it to host most vanilla worlds as they are released. But finding pieces that fit and learning about ecc kinda got me on a wild goosechase

The character still exists. It is still accessable. Just not playable. It will be an unconsious. I stated this already.
Restore the .arkprofile file backups, and the server will see the file and try to connect the account with the previous survivor. IE. The one that is having the client crashing issues.
I know this. 😂But some players may not . They may think by you saying it’s not wiped that that can come back to using it again.

If they wish to wait. Absolutely. I never said it was good for massive servers. I ran some tests on my own server. Its works. I gave the tips to people here. They can test it at their leisure if they wish to do so. Or they can do it for just themselves to at least test if other mods they have are causing issues as well. The method I gave can at least get ADMINS back into their server to test for issues further. Or those admins can chose to spend the time to get their players back into game quicker. It takes 3-5 minutes to backup the .arkprofile files and then delete them. The hardest part would be force joining the tribes.
I run a dedicated server on a 5700G with 128GB of DDR4 RAM.
You don’t need to go crazy with hardware, it’s mostly RAM intensive.
Yeah, I had this bit saved in my local store with a general computer setup with the ryzen 5700g, but then started to see ECC pop up amongst servers and began looking into those. But the 128gb ram you use is not ecc? Or is that a ryzen 5700g with 128gb ecc ram? Or is it clear that it isnt ecc if not mentioned.

It depends on what you want to spend. You can go AM5, etc but you don’t really need the CPU Horsepower

i believe, you have to launch into a SP game, then use the console. I think that's how I had to do it last time I tried.
You have access to .bak files
Rename the extensions accordingly. Your tribe backup would become .arktribe, your player would be .arkprofile, and your anti corruption would be TheIsland_WP.ark
you can take a look at the key mapping but by default is Tilde on the keyboard, you can use it at the "PRESS TO START" page

My only suggestion would be to cheat everything back in that you lost, not much you can do about bred/imprinted dinos however, at least not that I can think of with my current knowledge
Hi all, I hope someone here has a solution for this. I have a server that I run on local pc so that my family can all play together. it worked fine the last time I ran it in November. Now if I start up the server it doesn't show in the server list even with the 'show player servers' ticked. The port forwarding is setup the same as it was before and if I launch ASE servers they work fine, the ports opened are 7777-7816,27015-27054 UDP & TCP. I have also tested by moving my pc to DMZ on my router and disabling the windows firewall. Also the server shows as online on battlemetrics.com and using the open command from there with the public IP we can connect from outside the network. I have done a fresh install of win10 to test on and also installed r2m02.crl as described on the wiki at ark.wiki.gg/wiki/Dedicated_server_setup I am really hoping to get this working so we can transfer to SE and other maps when they arrive. Any help would be appreciated.

with it being an asa server , i wonder if the command line is just setup wrong , its kinda weird it shows in battlemetrics an you can join via ip,
one other thing is to check when searching for it, make sure the top filter is set to all, not pve or pvp,
that the password protected is checked or not as appropiate,
then search the name an hit enter
i also think it show on the list but is filtered on its client side

its the old ase port for steam yea, as it ran from steam , with asa it uses eos, so only needs a udp port,

asa can an will work one port apart, it actually auto assigned alot peoples ports , as they didnt realise it needed -port=xxxx to change them ,
it will just run them in order if not set , 7777, then 7778 next , 7779 etc
you can start an asa server with just start arkascendedserver.exe ,
it will default to port 7777udp and assign it a random name in the gus ini lol

no there just udp port numbers, defaults to 7777 for any server started unless told otherwise
i removed that on RangerServer1 and that one still doesnt show. i have tried with and without multiple time
some say they have issues using 7777 , i think it depends on the router tbh as mine works fine on it
ASA does not use the steam API so forwarding 27015 is not necessary
it worked fine on 7777 in october and november when we ran it the first time

I had this issue but it ended up being a firewall issue with my isp didn't show up on list for 5 days then one day like magic it was there
