well i mean it comes up fine...but i have yet to get into it. ive ran dedicated servers for years and had no problems getting a game server up and running, but this has to be the most insane ridiculous thing with Ark Survival Ascended. No matter what I do, i cannot connect to the server. it's ridiculous!!!!! is there some problem i am not aware of that's going on?

Has anyone else had an issue with flyer speed leveling not working on private dedicated? I've been trying everything I can think of and thus far I've been unsuccessful. Tried starting a single player game and copying the game.ini files, tried setting it at command line on startup, nothing seems to work. Any ideas? Driving me nuts.

Anyone who runs their own dedicated server figure out how to install mods? I have -AutoManagedMods -mods=[ModID] in my batch file and it creates a new mods folder, but the mods aren't installed and the server crashes after about 10 seconds of being open

ASA 25X/Modded Drops is mine and it's been working fine all day. I've been waiting for crashes but havent gotten any. I have the Deino, brachy and Cerato installed, too. So, I thought surely this isn't going to work but seems like it is IDK what the issue is. Hope it gets fixed.

Yeah seems to be a bug. I've tried everything but it simply doesn't work for dedicated servers unless they changed the config attribute for it. Lots of stuff online with people having the same issue.

Anyone been able to connect to their own self hosted server on a local subnet? Ive got one running on a windows 10 VM, but cannot connect. All firewalls are off. It doesnt show in server browser, but also "Open IPADDR" doesnt work either.
Direct connect doesn't work as far as I can tell. But once it shows up in the server browser it will use your local IP to connect.

Hey guys, quick question — I run an unofficial server and we are noticing that the dino stats are significantly higher than they were in ASE, even with the default game.ini — all the numbers look fine to me when I look in the config. Is this just how ASA is or what?
I don't think you can do direct only. It has to be discovered via the server browser.
I’m hosting a non dedicated server but my friend who joined cannot harvest or put on clothes. I gave him tools but they turned to blueprints in his inventory. It’s like he’s on visitor mode from minecraft. Anyone know how to fix?

Anyone know how to fix servers getting stuck in a reboot loop? Not my server, however everytime it seems to crash the admin lets us know its stuck in a reboot loop and has corrupted tribe files. The fix the first 3 times was to wipe the server. Its been going strong the last 40hours or so and there is allot of progression lost if we wipe. Hoping to get an answer for the admin on finding the corrupted files without reseting everyone

have you restarted your server? what i would do is stop the server, go in the settings ini and change it there then restart server and wipe wild dinos
cause i started my server now and it's set at 0.65 like i set it
it seems to be a bug currently everyone gets it, it eventually empties the server and you gotta restart to spawn back in
i noticed its gotten worse the last few patches

Honestly I think the count is fine. Just with SPAWNER FAILURE: NPCZoneManagerBlueprint_ being spammed in console so often theres probably alot less spawning then should be
You could also try SpawnWeightMultiplier though. You have to specify a dino tho

@gentle turret also I noticed something is weird with the way the numbers are written, I'd recommend setting your single player to 1,9 and then looking at the gameusersetting of your single player to see how the game actually wrote that cause for me setting it at 0.65 it was written like 0.649999976 and with that number it shows at 0.65 in myadminmanager in game
you can try to use mine and after a restart see if that changed to test my theory
I prefer when there's less dinos for immersion personally, I dont want a map covered in dinos everywhere so I found 0.65 was really nice after testing a few

@pulsar falcon you can add a server by ip from steam window and connect to it from outside the game it will launch the game for you and join a game (at least that's how it worked with ASE)

Even better I've got a server I'm hosting on a separate machine, I'm not new to servers, int he other office however it shows in the list but every time someone tries to connect it gives a timeout error, I'm about to give up on this game.

Asa no longer uses the Steam network. Therefore you no longer need a QueryPort. It's completely useless on a server. The QueryPort is ONLY for the Steam network.
That's why the Steam Server Browser doesn't work.

Tether distances is completely broken right now, I've tried messing with it in the files too. It's a #bug-reports but I assume its a known issue by now

I've gone from 12-14gb of ram usage on my pc to about 4-6gb of usage for the dedicated server

try at 0.75
That radius defines the area around both the player and the structure that allow resources to spawn. IIRC, the value closer to zero decreases that distance. 0 would be directly on top of you, and anything past 1 is farther than it already is

I've got 8 ASE servers running fine, still got another 70gb of ram free but when the ASA server starts using 50+ gb of ram it starts crashing my ASE servers lol
im assuming flying speed leveling is still broken?
I'd advise holding off on that for now if you can, they're changing a lot very quickly so that ASA server is going to be angry and volatile for a bit

Not sure what a death wall is, but turrets got a huge rework. Generators have an AoE now instead of cables, and I've seen some crazy things like putting turrets on the bottom of ceilings too. I dont PvP much, but assuming that may add some extra spice to your tower designs

Electric and Tek generators have pretty decent max ranges, and the new structures means modifications will be much smoother. I'd say try to add more turrets to a smaller surface-area to condense it down a bit. With the top-bottom approach you can theoretically double the amount of turrets per unit of building, so keep that in mind. And you may not have to armor the center as much, as no cable = no weak points that would break the entire network. Maybe either multiple central gens or a top-bottom approach can spread your power distribution without creating areas of focus that will take down the whole network. As always, more gens=longer uptime if that tower comes under fire
iirc, a tek gen may be able to power the entire tower as shown, so that is something to consider
A gen powers that whole tower
So if you can place it in an area where the turrets can protect it, and the wall can soak a lot of hits, they might literally be forced to fight just the turrets or waste more resaurces attacking the base. And the buff to foundation range means you can also make it a LOT more spindley than before, much harder to hit at range
All the pillars are connected and are connected to the ground if the walls go the turrets are still there
did we ever figure out if the dino population increase worked?
i could also remove all the walls and leave a center and just make it only pillars and see if turrets from the sider could shoot through

There is a lot of issues in nondedicated right now. Aside from mods, I've also noticed that trackers, tames, waypoints, tethering distance, and taming progress are all exclusive to the host

It may not physically be allowed to bypass that on ASA. I personally dont know the override setting to that particular stat, so you may have to go find that

As of now, only a full server is immune to that tether limit. I've tried several ways, and can confidentaly say that As of Now, there is not a functional solution to the issue

Most of the water spawner errors are Piranha. I disabled them and that got rid of most of the water spawner errors. I'm not sure how to figure out what's causing problems in the land spawners though

Do a Google search for "ARK Survival Ascended FREE Dedicated Server Guide" and look for the website TCNO. That is the tutorial I followed. I built a Windows VM on my UnRaid server and am running it on there. It runs pretty smooth!
Exactly what it says. The Dino spawner is trying to spawn a Dino somewhere on the map, it's failing for whatever reason (blocked? Under mesh? Etc) so it's disabling that particular spawn location. Nothing to worry about
The problem is as more spawners disable themselves, there's fewer dinos on the maps
That's what I was kind of thinking but wasn't sure. As long as my tamed dinos spawn I'm good. 🤣

There's been no info for how these work, or how long they're disabled for.
For example, a spawn point could be an area, in which case, at times could fail, or it could be a hard coded set spot, and if the latter there'll likely be hundreds, if not thousands of them on the map.
Equally, these could actually re-enable when the server is restarted or updated, so we may be seeing the same disabled status multiple times.
Also, if you're concerned about having no dinos, why no teleport directly to the location and see what's actually there, then you'll see whether you'll even notice it being disabled or not

Not necessarily. You could probably run it locally. But you could also use VMWare Workstation Player to create a Virtual Machine that runs on your computer. I just have a 2nd computer because I want to keep it online 24/7.

Yep! You'd need a pretty beefy computer to run both on a single machine. I used SteamCMD on another computer and it's been running smooth. I setup Windows backup to save File History from the Saves folder. I tested restoring a save and everything worked fine.
In case this hasn’t already been answered, the default dino stats are based on ASE 2015. After the great dino nerf in early 2016, dino stats were reduced way below the default 1.0. You’ll find the correct stats in the server config page on the Wiki

I had hoped they would remove the tether all together. It's incredibly stupid and massive open world games like Elder Scrolls Online and World of Warcraft don't have a tether. Ark shouldn't need one to function either... I could understand with the past generation consoles but everything we have now should run it no problem.

My unraid server is a Ryzen 7 3800X, 32GB Ram, GTX 1050 (I'm using a virtual GPU for the VM so this doesn't matter). The VM I created has 4 cores and 12GB RAM. It runs fine. My actual computer I use for gaming is Ryzen 9 5960X, 64GB Ram, rtx 3080ti. I'm able to run on Ultra with max settings and get 40-50 fps consistently.

I've had issues with mine or my friends not showing up. Usually we just search for it and it shows up. Sometimes we have to refresh the list about a dozen times and then we can find it.
Running ASA on proxmox adds an additional 6 watts to my proxmox host load for a total of 12 watts consumption at the wall. (I5-10500, 64gb ram). It’s a trivial amount of electricity usage. Host on its own is 6 watts, running Asa takes to 11-13.

Do a Google search for "ARK Survival Ascended FREE Dedicated Server Guide" and look for the website TCNO. That is the tutorial I followed. Cross reference the commands and firewall rules it has you create.

@hollow ridge the VM is locally for me, but for people using the VPN its different, but everything is routed properly. Its just the VM (server host) doesnt want to advertise its server to the browser server.

Is proxmox running on another computer or the same computer? Have you ran "ipconfig" in CMD? I was having issues at first because I thought Ark would use the same IP as my server but I didn't realize that my VM was able to grab it's own. Once I knew it was a different IP I didn't have any issues.

Do a network scan for that ip. So if you can get a Mac address or name. If you can get the Mac you can Google the first 6 characters.
Look in WireGuard and see the ip allocated to the WireGuard server
If you were 172.16.1.x it’ll probably have allocated a 10.x.x.x

It’s a routing issue. Remove WireGuard from the equation and have your host connected to via clients with a direct ip. It’ll work. I had the same issue with Homer on my network at home.

You should be able to connect locally. If not make sure the rules are correct both in the server host AND your host op system
You mentioned something was using port 7777. I would figure out what it is. If there is a conflict that could be an issue.

Shut down the server for 5 - 10 minutes then start again let it restart multiple times. This method fixed ours!

I'm having the same issue but minus the VM. Run the server on my machine, works perfectly. Run it on my server and can't connect. It's not a firewall issue as I can completely disable the firewall and still not connect. Running netstat -ab on the server shows Ark listening on UDP 0.0.0.0:7777 and nothing else. I can literally copy the directories from the server to my desktop and it works!?!?

Nope. 1.1.1.1. I've spent almost 6 hours on this issue and can't figure it out. It's like the server isn't actually listening on the correct network interface on the server. They're considered closed to anything trying to connect. Using the MultiHome argument with the server IP didn't change what netstat returns.
for me netstat says its listening on all interfaces, hence the 0.0.0.0

Im running a server on nitrado and I set the max level of Dinos to 300. When venturing most levels I see are below 100 and till now I only saw 2 that were level 250+. Does anyone know if theres a setting which needs to be adjusted for the chance of spawning higher levels

I'm going to have to assume it's a bug in the ASA server. One interesting difference is that the server won't show up in the Steam servers list regardless of where I run it.
Well apparently they dont use steam servers in ASA, they call back to a server on AWS cloud (i heard, not sure if correct)

In case you didn't already fix it, I did manage to get mine working. The -AutoManagedMods should actually be lowercase. So -automanagedmods. Then it started up properly and it made a new folder in the same directory as the server executable which had the mod inside. After that I just had to add the mod id inside the "gameusersettings.ini" with ActiveMods=xxxxxx
One other issue I had though was that I couldn't confirm whether or not it was actually working. The mod was supposed to add a section into the gameusersettings file for me to edit but it didn't, I had to copy paste that in manually. But after I did that I tested everything out and it worked just fine.

I can confirm my issue is not port, router or firewall related. Wiresharking the connection from both ends shows that there is traffic going to the server via the correct port when using open in game. It's that the Ark server itself is not responding. So it's either that it's not bound to the interface, despite listening on 0.0.0.0 or it's just ignoring the connection completely. An interface problem seems more likely due to it working if I literally copy the files over to my computer. As for where to go from here, no idea.

10 people wont be an issue, my system only goes to 40GB of ram at 70 pop, when there is only like 15, it's like 12-15 GB. However, the ram usage fluctuates quite a bit. Your CPU wont care about the server, as the server can only use 1-2 cores anyway.

Go to taskmanager, details, find the ark server and find its PID. Then run netstat -aon | findstr {PID} in powershell and tell use what it shows

Sounds like a network issue then, not a hosting issue xD
Try reset router, forget and reconenct to network
Also, you can turn your firewall off completely as an easy way to make sure that isn't the issue. Then you can turn it back on if that fixes it and make sure you add the ASA server to the firewall exceptions

that only really works if the server is programmed to respond to the format of such request. If it isnt it probably just drops the junk data

Wish they would fix the flyerspeedlevel already, i even downloaded the devkit to try to find it and the host barrier blueprints and they did not include them... cant even make a mod for it using their blueprint.

Sadly I can't remove the cryopod mod yet because my friend on the other side of the map has dinos in cryo so it'll delete them if I get rid of the mod

If the Dino’s were ever in cryo, they will still be deleted even if they aren’t cryo’d now. All Dino’s every used with it are considered gone once u restart the server anyway

We were using the death inventory keeper mod for a bit one I heavily used for single player ASE and it ruined the experience for this game so I immediately removed it lol

Any1 have a solution for not being able to join a dedicated server of our own, the host can. I can join other servers just fine. Ports are open followed the instructions is in the video that in the pinned messages. The server files was missing game.ini which we did add ourselves.

We actually didnt had issues til yesterday, we tweaked some rates.. to decrease total dino count while trying to maitain ammout of "normal" dinos by lowering spawn percentages for dinos that do not hae much use. This whole operation, just to decrease server ping, that one could go up to 100 once map gets fully spawned with 30+ people on.

i only did Trusted Root Certification Authorities with local machine, didn't even bother with the server restart, but i also use tcadmin to host my game servers so who knows.

we have up our dino spawn to 1.75 and that helps. Also notice if you leave the server run and not dino wipe for some reason fixes it. But on our server the rhynothigia instant spawns
For me, increasing the spawn rate just made it so there was an even more insane number of enemies lol.

I've disabled supply drops and yet It still says "can't place "Blank": Too Close to supply crate drop location."
I've also added "AllowPVEStructuresNearSupplyDrops=True" to game.ini and gameusersettings.ini
My whole base is kaputz due a drop landing in the middle of it
I had a lot of crashes and made these changes (worked for me, was probably the menu transitions but I'll keep everything like this for now):
- Turned full screen to windowed full screen
- Disable Menu transitions in UI menu to 'ON'
- Turned off all RTX DLSS settings
Lower fps but no crashes since

Okay multiple tribes on my pve server have lost all their Dino's and structures to what looks like a red gun. Checked logs, no admin commands used by anyone other than myself. Happened a couple days in a row now. Anyone else having this issue?

Ive been able to do it from the .bat file console that pulls up if you have @ echo written in the command that pulls up the log for it. I tested it and was able to change time of day without being in game.

Cause none of the Dino's death are in the server logs, just appear as killed in tribe logs, server logs show my admin commands and everything but no foul play at all, and this is like the 10th tribe affected

Have you checked IPs logging into your server? Might be a hacker/exploit. I would check to see who logs into your server then.
Hmmm.. Not quite what I am looking for. I don't want the server to log to a file at all. If the option to modify where it logs to specifically is not configurable I am going to hijack the file with a symlink to stdout. That is why I am also curious if it rotates the log file, because it won't be able to rotate a symlink lol

I mean, just being aware of whose playing and whose new. Down to deductions, there isn't a sure fire way but if you didnt do it and there is no other people that have admin commands and its showing in the tribe logs they died and the structures disappeared. I mean it could be a bug/glitch.. (cause it had happened on the old ark awhile back) Idk what to tell you :/

It definitely sucks, I 10000% understand. It is a new game, there are bound to be issues and problems... Just make sure you change your admin password. Do you have a password on your server? I mean other than being aware of who everyone is and what group they are playing with, it'll be hard to track down someone being bad especially if it doesn't show in the logs.

So according to support, the game/ini configuration does not support custom levels yet? I've done the custom setup in game.ini however my max level is only going up to 135?? Any assistance would be great.
I have to do a command in game after every restart to keep the levels. But you are right, they do not stay unfortunately.

You can just its not automated, you'll have to do this command cheat setdifficultyvalue then the value you want afterwards. I set mine to 12 to get 350+ then I do cheat destroywilddinos Then everything after that spawns at the 'custom' levels. But you have to do this everytime the server goes down and comes back up.
did you used just the vanilla cryopods ? - as same thing happens to dinos who have been uploaded into obelisk

Yeah I tried to edit through the game files and it wouldn't stick for me. The only way i can do higher level dinos is by doing the command in game after every restart

why did my initial baby "Wants care in XX" timer go up to 1 day 16 hours??? They fully mature in 3 hours on my server, and the cuddle timer doesn't seem to affect the initial care timer.
It's a local server, so I'm not sure how that works.

After several hours, I fixed my problem... How? 1st, starting the server without players and tribes (it worked). 2nd, starting the server with player, no tribes (it worked). 3rd, starting the server N times (N = tribe count) to find the corrupted tribe file.
At the end, one tribe was corrupted and I could delete them and start again the server, not a full wipe. Thanks god.
Does anyone know of any projects/docs/etc. that deal with or explore ASA's new save format yet? A bunch of tools used various libraries to read ASE's .ark files to extract GameObjects, Properties, and whatnot, but ASA now wraps things up in a SQLite database that appears to change (and improve) things considerably. I've gotten as far as reading the name table out of the SaveHeader database row in the custom table and figuring out that the "game" table has GameObject UUIDs as keys, but enough seems to have changed that reverse-engineering whatever primary/foreign key relationships are in play now with just a hex editor is a bit "challenging."
Official updates first, then unofficial. Usually within an hour of Official finishing, my maps are updating.

not that I know of, but you can always increase max level in general, which would give you what you're looking for

Do you guys know if the override difficulty also increases quality from supply drops? We set the override diff to 5 and the first drop I looted has ascended saddle and hide armor. I would like the dino max level to be 150 but I dont want overpowered drops :p

You do have this SupplyCrateLootQualityMultiplier= you can tinker around with and see
I believe dollie did mention in a reply that there's a known issue with supply drop loot quality being too high and that it's on the list of things to address once the other fires are slightly less warm. Just too good across the board right now

Fix for Non-Dedicated Servers not working with mods, step by step Guide:
First off, go into your local Files for Ark, for that right click on it in your Steam Library and select Manage>Browse Local Files
Then go through ShooterGame> Saved> Config> Windows
There open "GameUserSettings"
Press CTRL+F to open a search Tab
Search for "mods" and look for "ActiveMods=
There you will find all the ID's for the mods you have installed. You might find that the mod number list is unusually long, as it was the case with me.
Fix:
Use the Search Tab we just opened and Copy into it the first ModID you see in that list. ModIDs are seperated by commas btw.
Search for it. If it shows up multiple times, Delete any number after the Second entry, Example:

You can see the numbers repeating, we will have to delete them to fix that.
Also i Disabled "Use Singleplayer Settings" in "game Rules> Rules.. Dont know if that is relevant but i did that in tandem to my previous work.
Guess on what goes wrong:
I take it that the game installs the mods multiple times over itself which isnt an issue for single player but is one in multiplayer, as the non dedicated server cancels out double digits as it may produce an error code, thus ignoring any mods that are double in number.

Still no word on native Linux servers! However if you search this chat for "linux" you'll find last night a few people posted about how they got it running with a custom version of proton. I was able to get this working in a docker container.

Not sure if everyone is aware(just found it myself) but you can now lower your slot count from 26 to 20 on Nitrado. Saves ya 8 bux a month for those that don't have larger playercounts.

looks like the patch broke refining furnaces. When I open the inventory of mine it detaches the mouse from the game lol. Was able to fix it by rebuilding it.
