You can survive solo easy asf, I stayed alive on smalls for over a year in same base spot, you gotta find a unique base spot urself, that’s low traffic, and hard to access, it’s like Minecraft, any base is raidable when found

1 last a little bit depends what you mean by a decent while. The more you move the more it uses up but just to move some items wont use alot. If you can. Tame a rhynio. It does not need element and can move structures and full vaults and dedis with ease as long as placed on a foundation

@restive moth do you mean a cage, the roof or the wall? for roof if you want them to be stuck up top use single doorway, or else youll have to line the top of the double doors with railings. for wall.... well just fill it in top down, and at the bottom use quarter walls for any foundation that doesnt line up, dont overlap foundations with the wall.

ORP doesn't work at least not in the traditional sense of its implementation by Wildcard. Unless it is different in ASA, Wildcard made it so ORP had all structures undestroyable. If that were to be the case, and someone fobs someone on a ORP server, they literally could all just log off and their base could not be raided lol. That's literally PVE but PVP when you say so. Yeah, no.

Unless it is designed in such a way that after a certain period of time of nobody in the tribe logging on, turret damage and structure resistance is increased over set parameters of time.

Which granted that would be a neat little feature to implement but it's not gonna stop a big tribe, or really any tribe, raiding your base. You log and and the bonus goes you will get rolled just faster because the entir epoint of it is to attempt to help smaller tribes but they never had a chance anyway.

The new Official network servers are very likely to be the Monthly wiped Beginner Servers they did on ASE, to help people build up and move onto the main cluster without it being too broken either.

ORP, just does not work the way you think it will and has way more terrible downsides than upsides. If you want to play Main Cluster Official, join, befriend, or create your own massive tribe. Or don't bother and go unOfficial.

I think the true fix to this would be to find someway to put an end to account sharing on Small tribes. Which is the meta over there. If Wildcard could end that entirely someway, hardware lock accounts/characters for Small Tribe Officials. Small tribes would literally be amazing. Main cluster Official should be left for the huge tribes, and the smaller groups encouraged to the Small Cluster. Maybe even implement an ORP in the form of turret damage and structure resistance over period of time for Smalls.
Would fix most problems tbh.

Wildcard aren't reading this though and even if they did it's not like some of this would be put into consideration anyway.

official orp in ASE was very popular and there were some really good fights. I would say like half of tribes log off during combat but even then you are punished very heavily for it. ORP does work, and there is a very sizable amount of people who enjoy it and the different meta it brings, just because it isnt for you doesnt mean its not for everyone.

It's a system that is so easily abused is the problem. It only works if everybody plays by an imaginary ruleset or gentlemen's rules for lack of a better term. It's not for me, no. However I don't see it working successfully at all it's way too flawed. Every design choice and implementation should be designed around how someone would attempt to abuse it

I guess assuming it was on it's own special cluster not affiliated with anything else that wouldn't necessarily harm anything. I just see it being a hassle to moderate for Wildcard and that moderation focus should be for the other main clusters and not dedicated to a flawed system of servers

Because a system like that, in order to make it work requires a tonne of house rules, that only can be enforced by Wildcard moderators and since it's so easily abuseable it would generate so many tickets.

Unofficial orp servers were more popular in the end though, because the orp system was more customizable and better designed.

I play on an ORP server now, and basically if you log off during a raid the orp doesn't engage for 8 hours.

ORP also decays after 3 days of not logging in.

I've seen other servers where orp isn't 100% protection, but instead ramps from 0 protection when you log off to full protection 3 hours later. Or ORP provides 50% structure resistance and turrets do 3x damage. I've seen it where turrets have infinite ammo on ORP. It can be customized in so many ways on unofficial that all seem like they lead to healthier gameplay than official ORP.

@vapid abyss what is wild card doing about the cheating applications in ark asa. Also how did we go about gathering evidence on the 123 human player names and characters. How do we submit a ticket on those players when we have very little info. And when we so report why do we nit get any information in return on what happened to our ticket. There has been little done about cheaters in the last 8 or so years in ase. Are we just doomed to repeat the same fate as previous ark? And just be ok with meshers and botters getting away with such things. The ark devs need to be more involved with the community when it comes to these things.

when i ran my own conan i had a rule that your not allowed to logout until at least 1 hour of defense if a raid starts, id give them 1-2 free passes if IRL did really justify it, but after 1hr let people call it a night and not end up in a 24/7 defense. it worked well. if people kept violating it i would then just let the raiders free raid the base.

then long as you catch them relogging in, can continue the raid. and defense then taking that risk knowing the raiders now have free time to beef that fob up too lol.

wish WC would implement dynamic ORP, if no pvp combat, engages after 10 min of logging out, if there was pvp recently, engages 1-2 hrs after logging out, so if you combat log your giving the enemy 2 hours to offline.

ORP works best when entire tribe plays same hours though, unlike official/smalls where people try to diversify times to avoid offlining,

other alternative system conan and Atlas (WC's other game) supports is raid hours, so you have a fixed window you have to be on to defend and just got to survive until the window ends, then anyone can do PVE stuff safely outside of that window. I did enjoy that system. Atlas was nice as each tribe sets their own combat window individually, downside is you cant go raid your offensive teams base while they are raiding you though if different windows.
