if you're doing that, starting on gen2 should be easy

ive given same rundown a couple of times gimme a sec

-note run -> tame crystal wyvern (do this first)
-tame maewing -> raise high level deinonychus -> run beta drag / valguero for transmitter tekgram
-tame megatherium -> run swamp cave for level 100
-tame ovises using fjordur crops -> tame fjordhawk pair
-farm ARB -> trade for FFA dinos / lines / high damage shotgun
-get high damage shotgun -> farm cactus broth -> run beta rockwell
-get high damage shotgun -> tame procoptodon + tusoteuthis (if you can get an FFA tuso, it will make this easier) -> run alpha center

is pretty general starting goals, and most of these things you can do without even having a base

My only concern is someone I saw with a 5 strong raptor pack on a raft, but I’m pretty well hidden

I'd argue speedrunning 100 is optional in super early game (autos + teks is enough to defend, and pretty comparable to heavy+tek in unoffi context)

so I log into my server only to find all my tames and structures destroyed by a guy that joined a few days ago. I was friendly up to this point and my structures were open so there was no need to destroy them or my tames. Now I am not strong enough to go and raid him but he only built a stone base a few days ago and has a few tamed wyverns so I'm not sure if waiting is the right strategy. @lavish hill i did gamma rockwell for tek pod and tek leggings, easy to do. Farm what you need on your ldl server, then go to ci and get the artifacts needed then go to ab and do it. Solo on foot, youtube gamma rockwell solo. Plenty of tutorials, if you have a duo, run beta. I was going to do beta but tribe mate wasn't on at the time.

BattleMetrics 1) Only shows Steam players, so if they're using the Epic Games client you just don't see them; 2) only identifies users by their displayed name, NOT the unique identifier number such as a Steam64 ID. This means on Steam, multiple users can have the same display name and are all recognized as different accounts. This is why most players change their display name to 123, because BattleMetrics only recognizes it as one user.

Otherwise your options are paying for services like Big Brother which pull users Steam64 IDs and allow players to create a database to track each other, but again, this is Steam-focused. These services, however, can tell when there is an Epic user in server but can offer no further identifying information. Not technically illegal in game but rather frowned upon.

Tl;dr: People "hiding" on BattleMetrics isn't exactly what you think it is. Most players do it to avoid being tracked from server to server, but there are ways around this so it's negligible imo. It's not only cheaters.

For what it's worth, I think you might enjoy unofficial clusters such as MTS, FusionPVP, and/or AstroPVP if you're so bothered by cheating being prevalent in the game. Until devs start taking major steps forward to mitigate this (which upgrading the game's engine from UE4.5 to UE5 is definitely a step in the right direction), the risk vs reward is always going to pay off and they will keep doing it.

Well, considering we're talking about the core coding of the game itself... potentially a lot, but that's all conjecture until we get to see it in action.

At the very least thanks to UE5's improvement in polygons and nanites, I expect rendering and optimization overall will see improvements.

I would suggest looking into UE5 when and where you can. I'm no programmer so my knowledge base is limited, but as a whole the engine is massively more capable and better optimized than anything UE4 had. It's a good thing. For reference, as of chapter 4, Fortnite also runs on UE5. I can only begin to guess what Ark will be capable of when upgraded, but I do have some hope there will be improvements to benefit the player base.

I'm not a modder or a coder, but if I had to guess the mods would need to be re-coded to match the upgrade as well. Whether or not that process is easy or difficult - or if I'm correct at all - remains yet to be seen.

cant transfer back in to beginners though, so make sure everything can be taken out in one go

Most unoffi PvP clusters go through cycle of "cluster gets wiped -> people quit as they get wiped -> the people still playing quit as they get bored (there is nobody left that is feasible to raid)

ORP settings do not fix this issue - by making raids less feasible, you just make people quit faster

fjord+ab is a really strange combo - what resources do you want to be valuable? should any resources be valuable?

farming ARB on a fjord ab cluster sounds painful, and cementing paste also sounds average at best (crystal also sounds kinda lame)

Fjourd and abb i feel offer a variety of experiances for new players without most of the overpowered late game tames in gen2 and extinction etc. They also provide a large map with biome transfers while abb offers a no flyer experience and is a lot different from other flier based maps offering players that advantage. My idea with the server is a PVE/PVP play style focused on building up/trading and still the prospect of online raiding people who cause issues with you or your friends. Also gives that extra drive to build defences that a lot of PVE based servers lack

I need some allies to raid an offshoot of a megatribe. I am solo on Steam PVP and a bunch of dudes showed up on my lost island server and fortified the crouch cave, then pillared a quarter of the map with tek gates. I was fine with them till they wiped a beach bob tribe with a big tower wooden raft. I liked those guys and gave them tames. Its on steam lost island 1071
