Comparing discord mods to enforcement doesn’t really work. Enforcement is an actual job. It’s pretty late in the games life to do that so as you said nothing is likely to be done. Hopefully they have a strong answer for this in Ark 2. I really want to play official but refuse to do so with cheaters and current server stability.

Taking down servers isn’t really a viable option for them either. The shit storm that would stir up in the community would be catastrophic.

It’s not necessarily defending wildcard as much as it is understanding the situation. Ark 1 is nearing the ending of its life, investing resources in enforcement at this point is just a waste.

you can argue that wildcard should be more active about enforcing that rule but it's for a long time been quiet consensus that it's not really being enforced

a pretty good set of goals to have when starting out if you're lacking direction:
-complete note run and get to level 65+
-tame a crystal wyvern on crystal isles (free dlc)
-tame a pair of maewings on fjordur / lost island (both free dlcs)
-steal a high level deinonychus egg from valguero / fjordur (both free dlcs)
-raise deinonychus to adulthood
-farm tributes for beta/alpha valguero
-kill the dragon from beta/alpha valguero for transmitter tekgram
from there the game opens up a lot, but having transmitter makes your game a lot easier

The bigger the space the more known it is. Even if it has a crouch entrance your gonna need lots of turrets due to popularity

If you're looking to be low key in small tribes you need to not build in a known location. Every location is known, but some places appear dumb to build in. So people won't check. Caves are typically a bad idea if you don't want attention.

What I did was scout for lower population servers with a location in mind. Checked the major locations and when they were clear moved in. When someone builds in those I have home advantage and can wipe them with no competition.

I believe ARK 2 is a good opportunity for them. They know what problems ARK has itself and can prevent them with an entirely new game. I’m sure some of the problems plaguing PvP are problems that would require extensive coding down to even the base code for the current client. It makes sense considering the story of ARK has come to an end and it’s easier to rebuild from scratch rather than looking for errors in the years worth of code they’ve spent time working on.

Think the biggest issue with reporting is just the amount of ppl reporting stuff that’s not legitimate which just wastes the reviewers time. You get ppl reporting god mode but you see the vid on YouTube and it’s clear there turrets were just out of ammo when the tower falls and there’s no bags or ppl with bad connection sayin it’s god mode because they can’t shoot the other person lol or the ppl who get sniped and say it’s aimbot. I’m not saying all reports are bs but I’m sure they do waste a lot of time on false reports

PVP Official is absolutely unplayable now with the unchecked cheating, hacking and duped gear!! There is a petition on change.org titled 'Ark Police your official pvp servers better!' so I suggest you find it and sign it. The unchecked cheating, hacking and duped stuff in PVP Official has ruined the game!! Non-cheaters, hackers and dupers have been given two choices.. report it and get ignored by a rigged system and a team of dirty developers who are on the take as 'pocket devs' or leave PVP Official / the game entirely!! Either way PVP Official is unplayable unless you join an alpha or mega tribe and they have pocket devs to bribe, cheaters & hackers of their own, dupers and or duped gear to use!! Ark: Survival Evolved is the best game I have ever seen and played but it has been ruined by the unchecked cheating, hacking and duping and it has changed the game from Ark: Survival Evolved to Ark: Cheating & Duping Evolved!! Those who have left the game entirely because of the unchecked cheating, hacking or use of duped gear should be entitled to a full refund given how the developers, admins and community moderators have negligently let all of it go to get as bad as it has!! When I have started on the beach I have found it best to gear up with a small house / home and aim to get a high level para.. but they are the food source for virtually every carnivore out there.. but with one you can start to progress rather quickly in what you can farm, carry and bring back to your home. I do hope someone helps you.. if you are in PVE let me know in a DM (Direct Message) and I will give you some pets but if you are in PVP.. good luck for as soon as you leave cheaters & hackers with ESP will find your home and destroy it for easy loot or their entertainment in breaking someone else's stuff.

I have said for months now there needs to be an open white market where people can trade and sell stuff / content from the game. A percentage of the sales are donated to charities but also fund development into an in-game cheater & hacker reporting system, to fund community admins, to enable volunteer community admins (people like Camomo in Rust or Anarchy-HD in DayZ) to help stamp out the cheaters, hackers and dupers who have ruined the game!! Such sales could be used to pay for and develop better cheater & hacker detection software and to better detect duped gear and erase / delete it from all servers at once!!

Doing what they have done is what lead the game to the state where it is absolutely unplayable.. something has to be done and if they need money to pay for development to help solve all the cheating, hacking and duping then using an established black market where some earn thousands a week is clearly the way to go. With RMT it is a guaranteed way to earn a constant income flow to fund the changes we all need to return Ark: Cheating & Duping Evolved back to Ark: Survival Evolved!! With proper tracking / unique IDs of game assets then it would cancel out the duped trash plague and also ensure what is being sold was genuinely made / found / farmed in the game and people are being paid for their honest time in playing the game!! Either way.. doing what they have done has allowed the best game I have ever seen to be ruined by cheaters, hackers and an infinite supply of duped trash and a constant unfair advantage!! It has allowed corruption in the development team where it is openly known developers, admins or community moderators are on the take with bribes as 'pocket devs'. The money is there.. people are spending on this game by the hour.. I would rather see it open, honest and in a white market where percentages of the money are used for good rather than funding development into better exploits, cheats, hacks or dupe methods and I certainly think using such a market for donations to community charities is a step in the right direction also!! I have recorded cheaters & hackers.. being killed with instant head-shots at 300-metres with 'tracer bullets' that go through anything 4 or 5 times now!! The video evidence with the name of the tribe(s), the Steam IDs of the players, the date, location and all other data was submitted to the developers with the video and photographic evidence. All support tickets were aromatically deleted and no action was taken. The videos are on YouTube if you want to see them.. at the end the only thing I could do was to either spend money on my own cheats, hacks or duped trash or leave PVP Official.. I left!! I have 5 of my own servers where I can do the job the developers don't in my own servers and I play with a friend on PVE Official where duping and cheating is also becoming a serious and game breaking problem.

Some.. not so long ago.. I also made 'safe houses' on multiple servers.. small & compact houses I could flee to should cheaters & hackers come where I might be able to save some of my stuff. I lost all 5 safe houses on 4 different servers to cheaters & hackers with ESP so they can see where our bases are in 2 nights. I have seen people appear through walls and start shooting with their tek rifles.. I have seen tribes be wiped by cheaters & hackers in under an hour.. shot though anything as soon as they spawn wait.. I recorded some of this.. provided it as direct proof.. what was done.. nothing.. absolutely nothing!! That is why I and many others are here.. we are fed up to the extreme!!

We.. the tribe could see they were using the sniper gun and swapping between the sniper gun and the shot gun.. one was not that far away on the other side of the wall of the mesh and from time to time we could see them through the clear pentagons or hexagons if we lived long enough to see them that is. Also isn't there a time difference between the different types of weapons and their rates of fire??

but alas.. the tribe attacking us were cheaters.. they (we) were a tribe of cheaters.. sadly people like myself who don't use cheats or hacks paid with the loss of my stuff for the actions of the cheaters & hackers in my tribe from other cheaters & hacks!! One could say it was a 'fair fight' given my former tribe only wins because they use cheats & hackers + duped trash. I bought this game when it came out.. then I played The Isle and left because that game will never be completed or reach its full potential so I came back to Ark.. I have been here ever since.. The game I love.. the game we all love.. is not the game we have today!! I will leave PVP Official having been in a tribe who could not trust each other.. would lie, steal, be rude or outright horrible, needed cheats & hacks with duped trash to function.. how can one make a stand against cheaters, hackers & dupers when they are in a tribe of cheaters, hackers & dupers or a tribe that exists solely because of duped trash?? As I said.. the best time I had in this game in years is when I went out on my own and made a small boathouse and played the game as it was intended!! How can one girl with a small boat house compete with beta, alpha or mega tribes who all have cheaters, hackers and duped trash and see such people as a way to obtain easy loot!! When I lost the last of my waterkitties (shadowmane's).. the last of my pets that was it.. my heart was broken!! Add having to download and upload my purple blueprints every day so they could not be stolen by someone with ESP and a tek rifle with infinite element.. it was like.. is this even worth playing anymore?? So I gave the blueprints away to someone in a mega tribe.. left PVP Official with a broken heart and fled to my own servers and soon after received an invite to join someone in their home on PVE!! I have given out my Cluster ID so others can join / link our servers to make a small cluster of our own.. but this game has been tainted and I don't know if the damage to the reputation of the developers can even be undone at this stage!! All we have is our common love for what the game was.. not what it has become!!

We have all been there.. we have all followed the procedures.. gathered the evidence.. reported it.. waited.. we get an email telling us that with our inactivity that our support tickets are being automatically closed despite we have been very active in reporting the cheaters, hackers & dupers!! We have all worked for the stuff we had to see it lost to cheaters, hackers and those with duped gear in minutes or hours!! Will those who can roll back a server or take action to stop the cheaters & hackers do just that?? In my experience.. nope!! I have never seen any action taken.. not once.. kiss your stuff goodbye.. keep an eye on the black market as some if it might be for sale soon to fund the cheaters, hackers & dupers who are in the black market!!

We were as an Alpha Tribe on 91.. many, many times!! I was in two different Alpha Tribes on 91 and we had no cheaters, hackers or duped gear. We would report hackers, cheaters and those with duped trash as an Alpha Tribe.. 100% of the time our support tickers were ignored by the few who could do something but refused.

the best duped gear is the gear you don't even know is duped.. but trust me.. it is a widespread and extensive problem!! It is easy to solve.. embed a Steam ID in items that are crafted with a unique item ID, a date and time stamp and the craft amount at the time.. then every item that is crafted can be tracked and with server tests it is very easy to see who is duping stuff and go straight back to the sources.. even erase the entire lot from all official servers at once!!

I lived in a cheating and hacking tribe. They all had duped gear.. from the walls, the floors, the gear.. all duped!! It was so bad you had to get permission to bring certain things on the server because if it was duped it would erase other duped trash and the 'owners' would throw tantrums because they lost vaults of duped trash!! Clearly it can be detected and with a better detection system then it could be erased from all official servers at once.. how much load and lag would that save servers??

I believe that Wildcard's Enforcement team was intended to be the "real time" game enforcement, however given that they're so inundated with reports it's not quite as real time as it should be. So no, I wouldn't say that Ark's ancient version of Unreal Engine prevents BattlEye from working. It works, it's just not intended to be real time.

there's an interesting unintended side effect of it where it might be possible to build something just below the top of the roofed bubble which is /really/ toxic to drop and could be used for relativelt safe storage granted that you could keep timer on it, as the typical responses to a base like that (quetzals) is infeasible to bring into the bubble
... unfortunately from memory the exact terrain of the bubble means that it doesn't work out to be practical (think you can just land push/fortnite it), but it's still funny to think about

What you'd be looking at here, though, are a lot of save files, and then another thing that'd have to be sorted is "how long do they get retained before being deleted to make room for more". There'd also have to be attention paid to the server polling, because if the number of tribes got out of hand then you're looking at a situation where you've got slowdown added to the top of the inventory checks that happen every 15m at present (upload timer).

Essentially:
Step 1: Upon successful item transfer of non-primitive item/cryopod, the server logs into a database the item/tame id of the item/cryo that was transferred, and a reference to the server (consider ARK data as a server for this purpose) it was transferred to.
Step 2: When someone attempts to transfer or download a non-primitive item (or cryopod), run a search query on the database to see if the server the item is being downloaded from is the same as the server the item was last logged as. If it isn't, destroy the item and flag for potential later manual investigation. Optionally, log the item's most recent server as a null reference (more on this in a bit)

This would limit dupes to only be usable on the server they originated from (because porting it off more than once would make the second dupe disappear), and basically remove duping's impact on anything other than resources

Event 2: Dupe noglin B has been transferred to another server / uploaded (server 2), and as a result the transfer ledger identifies the noglin A and noglin B as both existing on server 2.
Event 3: Dupers attempt to travel noglin A to server 3/upload it/???. Upon checking the transfer ledger, it's noticed that noglin A is travelling from server 1 despite currently being on server 2. Noglin A is then deleted during the transfer, and the event is logged so that it can be reviewed later if necessary. Optionally, Noglin A/B's most recent server can be set to a null reference. Noglin B still exists, but only one noglin duped from A/B/[...] can be transferred across servers. If noglin A/B's most recent server was set to a null reference, then no noglins duped from A/B/[...] (including noglin B) can be transferred at all. Null referencing the most recent server may result in some tames/blueprints becoming serverlocked in accidental dupe scenarios (travelling items from server A to server B before server A crashes and rolls back). It's also worth noting that wildcard appear to already have some form of creature antiduping ledger which result in a >>Failed to spawn<< error, so a nullreferenced creature could also be added to this ledger in the process

assuming this is handled in a sane fashion all that's happening is the backend server is communicating with a DBMS, possibly locally

The biggest issue with databases like sql on a scale as large as ark is that it would literally have millions of data entries, possibly billions. So the time cost of doing a call might make it not worth considering

i mean i've made a /very/ big assumption, which is that tames and crafted items have unique identifiers
if that's not the case it might be a bit messier

but assuming they do then the database should be relatively small and note you're only storing some things that are being transferred across servers
