#ark-2
1 messages · Page 128 of 1
Oh should look for community crunches, Ark 2 base building has been said it going to be more than 10x more manipulative than anything possible in ASE.
ASA is more of a testing grounds for ARK-2 anyway.
o well, in that case I will just shut and wait for some more info about the game x)
gotta wait to see something of ark 2 but gonna take more than one year of waiting
for the time being il be purchasing ASA and just enjoy the better graphics while still playing the game I always loved
true, at least we have ASA soon to spent the year 😛
news of ark 2 should come in 2025
thats what I thought
ain't it getting released in end 2024 🤔 (what the current expectation is)
no i personally dont believe that
ASA is Ark 2
true
Starting over on just the island at launch and gonna have rynio and charchar possibly spawning as they put them on the island for ASE would imagine they would still be there in ASA
ASA as already being delay, everything of ASA as being push back, all maps including the new one
doubt that, but most I'd be looking out for in ark 2 would be new maps and base building
If they just fixed snap points for building in Ark it'd be great
No it not. ASA is a remaster being built from scratch.
Ark 2 is a whole new game that will focus on a primitive style
If that day would ever come 🥲
Which is taking priority over ark 2
damn the amount of problems ark as and just fixing snap point is enough? 🤣
then when it's a success they'll drop the idea of ark 2
I'd love to not see killed dinos their bodys fly around the map like a helicopter too yea
Na, ASA is going to be played and updated alongside Ark 2
Of course it is because it essentially a engine test for Ark 2 and a funding method for it.
Yeah okay
I am afraight for it yea, even tho I'd like to see ARK 2 being build from scratch, but I guess it has its good sides
ark 2 its suppose to be build from scratch, we were suppose to get a gameplay in last march but thats when things got complicated
Jasper out here new to the server questioning everything and everyone including mods. Imagine.
😂
anyway, I am gonna head to bed, as its 3 am on me already, was fun talking to you guys and I know a lot more now, thanks for that.
Ab is the best map, so hard disagree.
I'm not a fan of abb, but it a bit of a stretch to say delete 3 maps cause you don't like them. Everyone has their preferences and if it a map you don't care for, then either look to meet someone who does and tribe up with them where they can go there or trade for what you want off that map.
They also spend money on those maps, so I doubt they'll just remove them
Ab did what every map should have done imo. Change what can go on it, and can be the meta in it. A server not riddled with fliers and gigas was amazing.
Even Gen1 did this to some extent, allowing you to HAVE fliers for breeding, but not usable. Ab should honestly do that just so it's even more viable like other maps are.
Giga can be on map, but can't attack and isn't rideable (and do the same for all other dinos).
Damn skippy 😉
We all can only speculate. Only our grandkids will be able to enjoy Ark 2 by the time it releases anyways KEKW
It not even flyer restriction just the map design. It not appealing in the least to me and I just can't stand to look at that map.
Even on server clusters that enabled flyers I don't even play Ab
I tagged along with some people for the boss fight and haven't touched that map since.
Well is that because you are using future maps to do what you want? Like since Gen2 especially, no need to visit Aberration at all aside from 1 or 2 things
When it came out it was essentially a high risk, high reward kinda map
No, my main maps are Rag is preferred, extinction, and lost island
What don't you like about the map design? I find it amazing.
It looks an irradiated nuke with skittle colors went off in that map with an emp effect keeping it dark.
Looks like someone used a color wheel and just pointed to something blindfolded to determine what color something is, obnoxiously dark, and irradiated areas,
I find the color scheme fine overall good. What part of the map were you in lol
So you’re a rat lol
If that's your logic, 90% of the playerbase are rats.
If by rat you mean owning Shadow Cave and Fertile lake Entrance, then I suppose.
i like ab fine except when it comes to getting between the zones. without a rock drake it takes forever to get back and forth, especially going to and from the red
ab best map
i put it above gen 1 worst and then scorched earth
Lost island the best map, 5 castle ruins to build on and make use of, not to mention a handful of caves
center is my favorite
then rag, from there it's the other maps without particular order
i put val as 4th least favorite because it gets old fast and constantly has lighting bugs
Val a good contender, but kind of need an unofficial server with cave building on for those castle ruins. Helm's Deep dugout can't be built in without cave building on.
when val came out that was such a huge letdown
it was nice to have a new helm's deep in Fjordur to build in though i don't like how you have to wall off the top portion and ruin the overall look of it
Ruins were my favorite base locations, enjoyed trying to build off of them
there's one space on the center that's my favorite to build, a set of ruins just across the water from the blue obelisk island just north of the skull volcano
it's nice and tucked away, very safe, very close to a lot of resources and the cave nearby is usually one that overspawns like shit so it's easy to level dinos fast
I love scorched
Like the lighting storm I’m currently dealing with lol
also yes
Can’t cryo my stuff 🙄
So I’m watching a scorpion and a vulture 1v1 to pass the time
i mostly hate the dust storms because it basically forces you to hunker down and go idle for like five minutes
especially if you're away from base
Lv 85 scorpion and a lvl 90 vulture place your bets
the heat storm i can deal with after i get really good desert gear, by late game i barely even notice except for everything getting suddenly hard to see because the wave effects are dialed up way too high
i don't really spend a lot of time on SE except to get wyverns and kill the manticore, so i place it higher than gen1
gen1 is the only map i hate
which is a damn shame because inversely it has the best boss fight in the game
the CMC fight is some of the most fun i've had playing Ark
Agreed
it just sucks because you have to go through gen1 to do it
The only thing about gen1 I didn’t like is biome segregation
that's probably the worst thing about it
that could have been handled so much better
i imagined the ocean biome as being an all-over biome with a central island hub, with entrances for each of the other biomes set up like the proto-arks on extinction
i think that would have been an amazing way to handle it, especially if they were treating the genesis simulation/map as a 'video game world'. having a central travel hub would have been in keeping with that theme
and we wouldn't have had to rely on teleporting across the map in a game that is very much NOT optimized for popping across the map. anytime i go into a boss fight teleporter i have my fingers crossed the game isn't going to crash
all i am hoping for in ASA IS 1 less bugs then ark has now 2 not being kick off the game when fly or when events are going on in game
Biome Teleportation is bleh, and not a fan that more maps are starting to adopt it (Fjordur)
But the worst part about Gen1 for me was the repetetive missions. If you clear Alpha then you should at least get credit for the other difficulties so you're not repeating the same mission 3 times...

I loved Gen1, great for resources, breeding, the missions took time to master. And that feeling you had when you finished a biome of never going back there
Great for breeding 🪦
Why do you hate Gen 1? I also liked that map xD
As long as the main issue is fixed and that’s stegos
Point market did allow for Meat/Berry buying w/o having to leave base. So was nice in that regard when mass breeding lol
gen 1 and 2 are s tier maps, nuff said
I love Gen 2 overall, but the amount of mesh holes makes it a solid F tier.
The amount of people my group had to fight who were living in the mesh, or hard meshing us was astronimically high compared to any other map before.
ah i suppose im seeing this from the lens of a SP/PvE player, that is a very reasonable criticism
don't get me wrong without those issues it's one of my favorite maps
My group had the entire underwater spot with the cube. All main entrances turreted off, but we also had, and this is no exaggeration, 12 or 13 spots turreted off as best we could, that were mesh hole entrances people were using, and people were still meshing to get in. a dude made a video on a crazy amount of mesh holes in Gen 2 and we probably missed 8+, and that's just for one spot lol.
So I REALLY hope ASA takes care of mesh holes (which is should given the options it has to utilize)
Something that would be a nice addition if they could make it work is an added structure if not by Wildcard but maybe a mod, I'd potentially even be okay with it under premium mods.
Have a structure that worked as a merchant where you put in what you want to sell and you can set it for any resource and any amount of that resource you want for it.
If someone doesn't have the required resource amount it would say "Insufficient Resources" and if they do when they double click on the item it would automatically take the resources off of them and put it in storage section of the merchant structure and give them the item they bought.
UE5 should take care of mesh right, whit nanite devs should have a clear sight if theres holes
I'd assume UE5 also has the checkbox for mesh holes, as future versions of UE4 did.
Eh, Part of ark (imo) is doing those trades already, without some building to automate it.
It's a risk-"reward" thing. Most people won't trick or scam, but some will.
Those will still happen it would be more to set up stuff while offline and this is more PvE I admit considering people just raid for stuff in PvP
It'd just be nice to be able to put stuff like that up to passively sell and save dino trades for in person
People trade all the time in PvP. It's just a matter of getting scammed or not (most don't scam, as it's a solid way to get wiped).
Maybe someone who uses the new mod system will do something like that.
Auction house mod
I'd check something like that out, had one server where the owner built a phenomenal looking auction house and held them periodically, it was nice to take dinos and put them up and see what others brought as well.
It's nice to find a Role Play direction PvE server where people routinely look toward others in the community for stuff they don't usually focus on and it allows people to do what they enjoy more than something they don't typically do
Revitalized RP community is my biggest hope for ASA. Its so dry right now with only 2-3 populated servers
When does ark ascended come out?
There is a fairly popular auction house mod for ASE already
I do not use it so im maybe not the best person to talk about it but still.
end of october as described in the latest community crunch in #announcements
just wondering, will official servers come back to ASA? As ASA only allowed unofficial hosting on Nitrado didn't it?
Yes there will be official on ASA, that the reason official is closing on the 30th
aa all right, thats great
I expect official to be a little less popular though unless they have some official servers where WC chooses certain mods to be added.
I'd expect unofficial to probably be more popular with the use of cross platform modding and cross play.
yea I get that, but I my self always liked official or self-hosted more, as they don't wipe and are not relying on someone paying their invoices
Hello
crossplay and crossplatform mod will also eventually take people away from official as well
The servers I always looked for never wipe as long as there is a healthy player community. Just make sure it a discord ran one that usually helps ensure that.
And hello
The beginning of ark more were on Official than unofficial, and for some time it remained a close 50-50. Many left official because of the exploits/cheating. If most of that is toned down significantly, I see Officials regaining a lot of attention again. Especially with Smalls being a thing from the jump.
I searched for those too in the past, but never really found any, and even then it was almost impossible to find an unofficial server with only mods you like, as I my self like the unmodded gameplay a lot, mods like S+ and stuff are handy, and I won't say no to them, but a lot of servers those days have modded so much that it becomes boring, with complete shops and stuff
but thats my opinion
As Flops pointed out like I did. ASE isn't cross play unless you count windows and Xbox.
ASA being cross play and cross platform modding that a pretty significant feature that will add weight to the scale on top of the continued weight you just mentioned where it will still pose exploits and borderline cheating, mega tribes, land grabbing, etc.
That's certainly one way to put words in my mouth.
Not what I did? But okay. Just adding on to the discussion as I think opposite might happen and unofficial may launch out the gate with more attention.
I never tried small tribes so I really don't know the extent of it, but from what I have read here it sounds like it might be the the popular side of official (imo)
saying "on top of the continued weight you just mentioned where.." and then listing a bunch of things, implies I mentioned those lol.
That because that still going to be a deciding factor but now there a giant factor being added which means the scale of deciding official or unofficial tilts further toward unofficial looking at those aspects
I didn't say it did or didn't? I said you listing those after saying it's something I mentioned, implies i said those when I didn't.
Especially when I think the opposite and think officials will be more populated than before due to the fixing of exploits and cheats.
in a while at least
If I was going to imply you said something I would of been like "As Berserker said". Saying "on top of the continued weight you mentioned" simply means it still going to be a factor to some extent. People are still going to be looking for whatever they can official wise.
Then I continue on with other stuff I know from being a factor that played a part in why I and others I played with went to unofficial as well as new factor that most likely to shift scale even further.
then you're in luck as asa is gonna ad the content to the game the same way ase did (Island -> scorched -> aberration -> Extinction -> Gen 1 - Gen 2 with the free dlc maps inbetween each one iirc)
The Island (Released at Launch at the end October 2023)
Survival of the Fittest: The Island
Scorched Earth (Release in December)
Ragnarok & Aberration (Released by Q1 2024)
Extinction, Genesis Part 1, Genesis Part 2, and all the community-created maps are also to be released over time in 2024 (Fjordur, Ragnarok, The Center, Lost Island, Valguero, Crystal Isles)
Latest crunch in #announcements confirmed it is end of October
Someone in the regular ark channel gave a plausible prediction could be 24th launch and WC sets up Fear Evolved on the 31st since most of their updates always fall on a Tuesday.
@grim kestrel that'd be pretty cool.
UE1 created in 1991, UE2 in 1998, UE3 in 2004, UE4 in 2005, UE5 in 2020
Looks like UE3 was not exactly an engine proud of with the shortest life span, but 15 years from 4 to 5. So who knows maybe UE5 will have another 15 year life span.
I googled history of Unreal Engine and that what I found, I was curious after seeing your post there
It a pretty big read about UE4, even with nitro I can't copy paste the whole thing in one post 😂
Like 24 of them
If your issue was alpha tribes I suspect you’ll be disappointed. Asa has not yet pitched any design or balance changes aimed at reducing the influence or capacity for megas and alphas
I’d bet comfortably that it will be nearly identical to ASE after a few months. Best to wait for ark 2 if that’s the hang up
yeah especially with teh contract nitrado has them under to take control of all ASA and ASE commercially hosted servers
only thing outside nitrado will be private servers
You're not quitting your job so you can become alpha?
Shoot you caught me 😛
That has nothing to do with…player made alpha and mega tribes
sorry i was replying to something said earlier, i should have used the reply
Delays are lies? Thats a new take 🤔
quick sell your wildcard stock. (those who are smart will buy)
to be honest WC has never released anything on the initial release date, everything has always been delayed
its actually Snail Games stock, and why would you they are about to go bankrupt being 9 million in debt
do you know the special people that always turned things in late if at all in school. I wounder if that is who wc hired to make the game.
that they are.
to be honest they dont utilize their assests correctly, I mean Cedric one of the best hires was put in public relations rather than coding and design, when he designed survival of teh fittest
Cedric didn't work on Survival of the fittest though?
He worked on Primitive+
that game I did not like very much.
i mean it would be good if they sell out to another company because then you get huge returns on your dividends but if tehy file bankrupt you just lose monry
its a stateent that one of their better design people is being used in public relations rather than design, they are famous for hiring great talent and then not utilizing them in a role best suited for them
what is good is subjective backed on the person point of view. Both games delevement and art share that element. Thus making games is a form of art. From my point of view it was made to a lower standard.
yeah well it is what it is at this point, just wondering how everything is going to play out with Ark 2 if they go bankrupt
I am looking forward to ark 2
but worried
There is a big fan pool. maybe they could be saved from crowd founding and taking better care of people that buy their games. Right now they see us not as humans play a great game but as dollar sgins to make them rich.
I agree but teh problem with crowd funding is the crowd has to have faith in you building a good product, and if you go under they invested in a loss
and too many are familiar with WC to believe in funding them lol
just too unreliable and dont listen to their player base
new management may fix it. at the same time it is hard to change ingrained views and cumpany policy
yeah kinda wondering how teh talks with microsoft are going, its rumored that microsoft want to buy them out, but still just a rumor
EA runies everything they touch. I hope they don't
i agree microsoft is not the best solution but since they have invested more than 10 million in ark so far over teh years it would make since, they have a huge investment to lose
so you are buying stocks now?
nope not until i hear that talks are official, then grab them like crazy for the dividends payout
Some goofy stuff in here today, jeez
That's a player rumor, not a Microsoft one
Bence Mor deri rengi gelmeli.
Arkpoc
Not even a rumor… just wishful thinking. They are like “If we don’t buy it SG will need to sell their IP”. Sure…
Typical delusional "fan" behavior. I saw that guy who stalked the animators of the show on linkedin make 2 of the same post on completely false pretenses about the state of the show, even though he was banned months ago and therefore has no idea what's actually going on lmao (we don't either, but the comments he made were quite delusional, as redditors tend to be)
When the goal is attention rather than accuracy we find ourselves here
It's a sad state of affairs, but it's the hand we're dealt 😔
Of the greatest challenge facing the human race, the internet is one of them
The environment another. No other species on earth has been aware of their global impact (though others have caused irreversible and permanent changes to our planet like humans have) - the question is…will we be the first animals to actually band up and fix what we did? I suppose that also applies to the Internet
True and real
The rise of “chat room” socializing replacing real socializing is a wild thing. Imagine the ark 2 chat in like…2008. I wonder how much less hostile it would have been
800 million in sales but an 8 million loan is gonna be the problem ya
Why are people so trusting
@lime forge you’re old - was this always the case?
I feel like I could say ark 2 removed PvE and people would believe me
Was what always the case?
Gullibility? Absolutely.
Especially if it came from tv or newspapers. The internet just broadly expanded people’s options. Nothing has changed.
And I’m NOT old, I’m 32
Fair enough
🤣
Lol we're old, friend. The second you hit 22 you're irrelevant and uncool.
I was irrelevant and uncool way before then
i will be like the egyptian pharaohs, wrapped up and buried eventually as well
A day will come, when all the ARK chatters will be gone
But it is not this day
Or any day in the near future
no need for deep stuff in a discord server about a dino game with an epic soundtrack
So let us keep for ASA
The epic soundtrsck invokes deep stuff
especially extinction
Ab>
Extinction needs light/heavy variants, and unique themes for desert/snow. Forest also seems a bit too chaotic for an overall chill biome, but otherwise Ex soundtrack slaps
Ab King though
Extinction one of my top maps
May become the top map if they announce Thylacosmilus Atrox as the winner of the creature vote tomorrow
Based funny cat enjoyer
i just hope for not dreadnoughtus at this point
Hatzegopteryx Kukulkan is probably the second one, beyond that the rest are meh to me as well
I didn't even look at any of the submissions past dossier pics
Voting page should seriously have working links to the submissions ... having to copy/paste every time is annoying
not a single community creature as made sense for each of the maps and some that did dint get pass 3dr round
No?
eh?
Faslosuchus is a desert swimmer, perfect for SE. Center has one of the biggest ocean focuses of all the maps, so a big ass whale makes sense. Aberration is perfect for weird lil dudes like whatshisface
truth. no more sauropods
Yi-whateveritwas seems to get a lot of odd hate for some reason. I dunno though, I actually liked it 🤷
All the other votes seem pretty fitting, though I would have been pretty upset if the Cheetah won on the Center or at all
creatures that won they win by the op abilities not how they fit on the map or if the abilities would made sense for that map, and before you go whit center giant whale to be use as semi mobile base you will change opinion once you play whit it
You do realize WC sets the abilities, right? The submissions are just for inspiration, but ultimately it's WC that puts them in the game with whatever changes they deem fit
Hence why Rhynio suddenly went from Carno-sized to Rex-sized seemingly out of nowhere
I am a little sad the amphibious mount submissions didn’t win for the center
Also a bit irked another raptor was added for Ab. That map has so much potential and imo it’s a bit wasted on another bleed raptor…that creature could have been slapped anywhere
raptor? looks like a stupid bird that shoots feathers, that alone made a huge impact for me, the spider that could hypnotize was the perfect creature for ab
joose
I agree the jumping spider (abilities aside) was a better pick. Ark needs more three dimensional arthropods
Arthropleura is kinda flat, but last I checked it's 3d ...
/j
even the spider form was perfect for ab
I'm hoping the abilities/submissions that aren't picked are used as future TLC ideas for creatures that seriously need it. Araneo being a great example
If the spider was picked we'd be having a discussion about how yet another bug was the worst choice qnd it should have been the cool wall climbing raptor
I’d be on the other side of that debate for sure - that of arguing in favor of the spider
at least the spider was a real-world creature, per the rules for submission...no such thing as a Yi Ling
Ark needing more arthropods is still true
I do kinda think that the fantasy/real life creature line being blurry is both good and kinda tough to navigate
Its based on yi qi
Species being mutated to the point it's something else fits very well with aberrations themes. And several of its own creatures
Aren't a few of the other creatures in Ark basically described as 'close, but technically it's a different species'
See here. Yes there’s a blurred line
I wouldn’t say Yi Qi should have been disqualified. I’m just a bit disappointed about it winning
fair point. castoroides never built dams, hyaenodon were not even related to hyenas, dilophosaur looked nothing like JP dilos (and never spit venom), not to mention all the size discrepancies
i did vote for Yi Qi, but only because i wanted Yi Qi...not the abovementioned mutant Yi Ling lol
That's why I try not to get too hung up on the 'real world' details. All these critters are genetically modified monstrosities anyway - and that's before mutation stacking 😂
I just turn off the 'but realism!' part of my brain, dinosaur game go brrrrr
we got monkeys that can disabled high tech armor with their poop, nothing makes sense 😂
Sometimes I care. Depends a lot on the specific submission tho imo
I still think WC should have kept with general map themes for the submissions - not forcing real world creatures. Scorched brought Wyverns, Golems, Phoenix, and Manticore - that vote should have allowed fantasy creatures. Ab has stuff like Reapers and Seekers, something alien could fit. Genesis 1 and 2 could have some really out there options/hybrid creatures
Where can i see a breakdown for new ark news?
physics engine aside (which should be fixed with UE5...grapples!), i dont particularly wanna suspend realism concerning dinos in a dino game, but i get what you mean
Keep an eye on #announcements channel as it comes up, but here a basic run down of information known for ASA from 4 different Community Crunches and Ark 2 from Microsoft Xbox's website...

What is the release date of asa
Read the top of the post where it shows map releases?
Thanks boss
There are a very small number of fully accurate creatures in ark
Will asa be on game pass
[Insert maximum effort gif here]
we don't know, but it's planned for the end of october as described in the latest community crunch in #announcements
I kinda want to know why it matters if it’s known to be on gamepass ahead of release
it doesn't, case closed
Do you not just…check gamepass day 1? You know the key question of “is asa on Xbox” ahead of time anyway
Most likely a contractual obligation
I didn’t ask “why is it there”. I asked “why do people care ahead of release”
Not exactly, you asked "why it matters if it known" not specifically why people care until this post
“Known” here means “known publicly”
That not the only way the word "known" can be used. But okay
The implicit assumption is that WC can’t release asa on gamepass without their knowledge (because it makes no sense)
So they’d always “know”. The group that wouldn’t “know” is the public
🤔
If they need to factor into their budget the high cost of buying a game or not
Games are expensive on allowance money
You almost lost me until this raw throwback to when I didn’t have income
I got a question if anyone can answer it idk if it's to early but is there an early access for ark 2 ?? just curious
unless it changes in the time between now and Ark 2's release it's still intended to be a early access release. the early early access for ark 2 was part of a bundle including Ark Ascended and Ark 2 that was scrapped and will no longer be happening
Probably why there's no Playstation release planned yet since Sony has a thing against Early Access titles
alongside the timed launch exclusive deal made between Wildcard and Xbox
@cunning talon will ASA increase the ammount of players in small tribes or will it be the same 6man only?
Any more than 6 doesn’t make it small does it
You mean late access, right? 🌚
It’s because MS signed exclusivity with wildcard
Probably part of it, but I don't think that would stop WC from saying Ark2 will come to PS at a later date
But as of now, still just PC and Xbox
As someone familiar with a company using time exclusive contracts being Rockstar Games, not typically how that works.
It usually obvious it will release, but the way that contract treated they usually just wait until tail end of contract to reveal a release date to the other platform.
In RG case it usually one year. Not sure what kind of agreement WC and MS made up to have it PC and Xbox only temporarily.
All games with temporary exclusivity are announced like that. The studios won’t say they plan to bring it to other platforms in the future.
But yeah, I believe it will come eventually to the PS, but they won’t say it officially
I don't usually pay too much attention to it, but do other games specifically say they're timed exclusives? Ark2 did say that
No, they don’t. It’s probably on their deal they shouldn’t say it’s timed.
I imagine it must of been a pretty substantial deal that benefits WC cause for a game like Ark especially when Ark 2 going to be cross platform play is going to be a big disadvantage on any PS players when they do get it.
I know the release of starfield skyrocketed Xbox sales
Unfortunately exclusivity is good for them
That also a single player game
But I don’t believe Ark is on the same level of a Bethesda game. This specific deal probably won’t have a huge impact.
Here’s hoping ark 2 has a wipe when PS gets access
I doubt it, they will probably just add more servers
Luckily idc, but you’re prolly right
That would be a better solution, a wipe would harm their existing player base more than balance it for PS.
It does suck for PS folks looking to try official
Maybe mutations won’t exist so the extra time Xbox and PC players get won’t be abused as badly
EA means subject to change upon official release if they state in the beginning they plan to wipe on official launch, then anyone being upset only has theirselves to blame.
They honestly SHOULD wipe a few times during early access, since that will allow them the ability to make critical changes to the game without worrying about player data. PS release would be a good spot for that
New servers are usually kept outside the old network for a while. At least that’s what they do for new maps. Maybe they will do that when PS servers release.
Get a better feel for how progression will change with updates and balance passes
If they repeat ASE, they won’t
They could do the legacy server approach ig, which WAS functionally a wipe
I remember 1 wipe in the beginning
Mutations if done off of decision while raising I believe would be better. Have it be a 2-3 choice off of a potential stat, and it just random which of the three options you choose from during imprints.
So instead of imprints being a standard boost to all stats have it be an RnG of choosing what kind of imprint to do based on what that particular imprint offers you in 2-3 choices
Even for the final release, they opted to release new servers, segregated from the old ones
Most legacy servers were completely abandoned. It also isolates the player base, at least in regards to officials.
That’s more possible
But that’s a way to wipe without all the backlash 😂
They'll get backlash no matter what. Keeping up the legacy servers was ultimately pointless.
I’m not saying it was good or bad, however it was how WC chose to handle a functional “wipe” of their officials
A simple statement of "Will wipe upon full release" means anyone getting upset by it only has themselves to blame for it
They had to, since they said servers wouldn't wipe upon actual release, until they realized how bad that is for an official launch
Won't stop them blaming WC for not paying attention 😂
That one way to settle it
Tbh they should do early access wipes as often as they feel is absolutely necessary to ensure new features and content are added smoothly and functionally
Not at all, no one really complained they would release new servers. People just moved and they were able to wipe the old servers.
@tropic crag weren’t you on legacy? Was it ezpz with no complaints?
They should, but they didn’t in the past
Correct. But they did soft wipe lol. If your base was in a spot of the island that got changed, your stuff was gone
Rip the people who lived in the NW when the snow biome dropped, or the place that’s now the redwoods
Half of the people said they would stay on the old servers but they moved after a few weeks/months
You weren't playing in megas then. Near every mega was complaining legacy servers would essentially not be officials anymore. And that was almost every mega, not just 1 or 2.
And that's not accounting for all the other tribes who had issues with it as well. THere's a reason so many left Legacy almost immediately.
Just for the swamp and redwood
Snow came first
snow and swamp in the same update
Did the snow biome changed anything besides the snow coverage?
That regional wipe I don’t remember
Mountain heights, added ice areas like north middle coast and middle west coast
Oh, maybe that was it, I was near the swamp, that one affected me, but don’t remember the snow biome affecting people.
there was a second area turned into more of swamp later on
Anyways. Total wipes only happened once, I guess. They’d rather rollback than wiping.
Yes. Dollie herself said this has actually slowed/stalled and outright prevented certain changes from going live
Which makes sense and also infuriates me lol. Early access should be a malleable enough time period where devs shouldn’t feel trapped in choices made years prior
I don't recall a total wipe at all. I just recall them warning people to move bases before certain areas were changed lol.
Legacy loosely = total wipe
I wouldn't call that a total wipe. Total wipe implies completely wiping ALL servers. All servers weren't wiped. New ones were just created.
Personally that's how I see it anyhow
It was a wipe of all the old version servers. Idk…seems pretty close to me
(As legacy servers closed)
Anyone could join the legacyservers, and people didn't have to leave them, so it's not a wipe lol
I mean that one:
“6/22/2015 PvP Wipe is complete. Welcome to your brave new ARKs!
Just a final update here, the pvp wipe should be complete now. If you have further problems, please let us know.
We look forward to seeing what new and amazing creations you guys forge on your new ARKs!”
It was like a month after release
Because of dupers I think
That's fair. I think I started playing like 2 months after, so didn't even see that ha
I don’t count that as a wipe, because they released new servers instead
It was only PvP then wasn't it?
Yeah, pve wasn’t affected
People were using glitches or something
I don’t remember the exact reason
It's semi funny only because there was still massive dupes and glitches when i joined after the wipe..
Very early ark was very very bad
Then again I’m generally stunned most folks play serious PvP with the number of wild bugs and such the game has in 2023
Iwouldn't necessarily say anyone in 2023 has been playing it SERIOUSLY.
Don’t lie to me. But I’m glad you’re in the sane camp
It unfortunate that you really can't enjoy an honest online experience mostly effecting PvP as there is always people who want to reach to top and claim their "the best" even when they use the cheapest methods to do so they possibly can.
(Off topic, but partially related to end result)
Arcade fighting game recently released is completely buried further than any game I've ever seen. AEW Fight Forever it released with a concept to be a pick up and play and ended up being an experience that only reward the worst of people, 3 months that game has less than 10 people playing it on any platform.
I mentioned that cause of where legacy servers got mentioned being abandoned. People enjoy taking the easy route until they only get met with people who do the same thing and realize just how unfair it is and they will eventually quit as well.
You KNOW some folks are out there sweating their minds away
Just watching YT videos of people playing in 2023 it doesn't seem like anyone on PvP is truly taking it seriously. But that's just my take on it. Maybe they're hardcore PvPing more than they would have, but it hasn't seem like it was in the past.
It’s certainly not peak PvP sweat hours like it once was, I can’t argue with that
Topic change: Can we vote to get gigantoraptor for Island instead of Rag.
I want my easier baby raising sooner, not having to wait until after Gen 2 lol
Rag is after gen 2??
That's how I took the one update on the CC
hold on I'll quote it in a sec when I find it
Rag is set to be introduced with Abb in Q1 of 2024
Yeah, I think I misreas sommewhere, or somewhere they had it stated weird.
I hope Rag maintains it release date, that my preferred home base map
I do think it’s funny how essential transfers became to basic gameplay over the years
Rag overrated imo, but das just me
Back in 2015 you had one map at a time with one character…a “home base map” was never a concept
You just…played the map, then tried another one from scratch 😛
Rag is the best design map (imo) it has a more realistic flow of biomes and such I think as well as they feel approiately sized
Did you say Ab was poorly designed?
No Fjordur is best
Yeah cause it looks like something out of an anime comic
Okay found it, 356 is the one that stated the roadmap would be all canonical DLCs, and THEN the community maps, but obviously that changed in the more recent updated roadmap. Just glad I wasn't crazy lol
Realistic biome flow? Like having the coldest biome in the game a stone's throw from hot desert? 🤔
And a pointless near vertical mountain wall between desert and redwoods
Fjordur from an aesthetic POV is nice, but to base on I'd still choose Rag
You’re entitled to your opinion. I’m also entitled to mine - which is that it’s a bit psycho to say the map with a desert next to unbearable cold and an unfinished redwoods mountain is better design than the crowning jewel of sci fi cavern design
Wait you said it faster than I did lmfao
It has good buildin places though. Like the caves or by the castles
Rag is like ... baby's first DnD map
I'll give you that
Rag was impressive at the time - just like the center. I wouldn’t bash the impressive community effort
Yeah, I'm really confused on people who say they don't like Ab because of how it looks/color scheme, etc. It's one of the most beautiful maps. I can understand not liking it for other reasons, but that one has never made sense to me.
I would however question the objective aesthetic comparison of a map like rag to…an objectively more visually stunning map
But in terms of finding ruins, I like Lost Island for that and caves
…
Oof
So you can’t really comment on the scope of map design?
👀
I like Rag, but it's also one of the most laggy maps in existence lol
I used to watch ark alot, its just i haven't had the time to play on it
Watching and playing imo are pretty different in terms of game feel. Though watching will certainly give you an inkling
Ive seen detailed videos of all the maps
On official? Of course cause it going to be the most popular with building. I started setting up on Val or Lost Island a good bit
Any other map with comparable buildings on it is less laggy than Rag.
All I can say is that watching Ab versus walking my first ravager to the overlook and staring out into the caverns below felt worlds different in terms of the power of the map design
Maybe UE5 version will solve that
Personally i love how you can tp in fjordur. Asgard is gorgeous and there is just so many places to build and explore
Personally not a fan of forced teleportations to get around. Imo, there should be walkable paths to get everywhere in a map
Plus teleports alert the whole server. Get a populated server and those warp sounds get annoying fast

Because if it is, it can typically be preloaded and they then know that they don't have to buy the game separately
Pretty sure the gen1 fjordur tps don't alert the whole map lol
I was, and unfortunately most people I knew quit and/or felt betrayed because they felt either
-
WC hadn't told us it would functionally wipe soon enough, or
-
They just simply didn't know/weren't informed well enough by WC to know that their servers they'd been on for years were just going to become buggy wastelands of 0 tech support and near 0 new DLC servers
It really sucked for those who'd been getting by just barely, just to find out that all their hard work meant jack shit and that to play in an active environment they'd have to start from scratch again, which was understandable.
Not to mention, they kept removing legacies over time in a really poorly telegraphed manner (I was going to continue on legacy originally after my buddy quit from the first wave of deletions which included our home server, but then... the server I "migrated" (fled) to was marked for deletion the week after I moved our entire stock of mats/items/breed lines/etc. over, by myself 😅 )
That's a glitch I'm pretty sure, only supposed to happen in a radius around you and only if the person in question is looking at you (i.e. has you in render.) That's how it is on Xbox, at least
Hm. I get them all the time
Dang kids, warping and teleporting everywhich way and yonder!
I'm fine with the teleporting, but I think two things should happen:
- A cooldown so you can't spam/abuse it
- You should be able to traverse between them naturally as well, like you said earlier
I think that's what makes me like the Center so much. The whole underground world has a bunch of crossing networks of paths and tunnels to get there and interconnects nearly the whole map
I do miss The Center and it's Underworld, my favorite part of the map
I'm legit excited to see it in ASA with visual touchups
Was my favorite map until they made basically Underworld 2 with Ab lol
Underworld 2: Nameless Boogaloo
They should definitely add aberrant creatures to the Underworld imo
And maybe give it somewhat of a day/night cycle similar to Ab so that it offsets from the surface world all wonkylike and is cool and stuff
underworld with 2023 assets would go hard - even harder with ASA 2023 assets
y'all got that much faith in WC to not botch this?
Even if they do, mods will be on console 🤷♂️
Modders will just do what people would like to see if WC doesn't, so what does it matter?
can modders make the game not run like shit?
define "botch" for me here - everyone has a different expectation
I mean ... yeah?
Some of the community maps are high quality and don't really much performance hits compared to some Official maps
ark is a buggy mess where you and your tames frequently fall through the mesh into oblivion
What Ark you been playin? Lmao
had this been 2018 or earlier sure
but...for a while now it's been pretty rare to have sudden drops into the mesh. Unless you're a poor soul on Win10. We all hold F for those folks
win10 btw
nope, should be F
my friend tried ark on console and it was optimized so poorly that he said it was unplayable
good catch there tbh, let me edit
was he on an old gen console playing the new maps?
and perchance did he load official pve?
i've no idea
Probably didn't have it on an SSD, or his PS5 was poorly maintained
But did I catch that right? You heard it was unplayable, and took that at face value?
it's true ark is poorly optimized and certainly had a history of that
Hence why I focused on the unplayable bit
but is that the concern about "botched"? The short answer is that ASA will be smoother than ASE by virture of being a way smaller release
he's a lot more astute/aware when it comes to things like that than i am
like isn't rubber banding still an issue
and collision with dino tails and shit
rubber banding is as much a ping problem as an optimization problem
That's an internet issue typically, yeah
ISPs tend to not play well with Ark on PS5 I've heard, gotta open ports if you play online
jumping through hoops just to make the game run well is kind of my point tho
It doesn't happen on Xbox 🤷♂️
playstation is the redheaded step child for this game
For sure, because Sony hates early access so they got it far later
Laughs in Switch/Mobile
True and real, RIP our mobile boys
switch tbh is the youngest sibling - kids are 16, 14, and 5
totally agree lmfao
mobile was just done...mobile. tbh mobile ark shouldn't be a thing
i have it so me and my son can play it together
switch ark was actually a good release all things considered
it has to be...simplified somewhat because the switch is such poo hardware wise. But for that console? Ark switch was actually good
Ark mobile tho...huge oof. May it never influence ark 2
The rebuild was, OG Switch Ark was doodooass lol
true, credit is going to current switch ark
from what i've gotten out of asking grove street games, asa for switch would be possible with the next gen version of the switch
The new Switch honestly sounds gamechanging
Tell me they didn't call it something dumb like New Super Switch
Nintendo Super Max Switch Giga Ultra Plus Double Deluxe with cheese
I actually really hated Nintendo's fad of calling their games 'New! -Insert franchise here-'
So many non-gamer parents buying the wrong games because New was in the title and doesn't actually mean it's new
but yeah. i'm just concerned about how good ASA and Ark 2 will be because i love the games but Ark was a trainwreck on release
I'm pretty sure that's against the CoC, and against the rules for the admins to do that.
Again, I believe they're not actually suppose to do that. And real-money trading can get you banned as it's against the CoC for official servers.
What are you smoking
Just saying, but "• 2.4. Conducting any kind of real-world economic activity on this server is strictly prohibited, and may result in the account responsible getting terminated."
High riser trolling and bootleg taking the bait
be nice - it was really high quality bait compared to the standard
That was not high quality.
I was also bored and took it anyway for my own entertainment.
you're allowed to do that
Bruh
Yeah, we don't know the new Switch's name yet but here's hoping it isn't like those games were
I hope
Oh dodomaiiiiiiil, we got ooooooone
Damn

They're gone, this is so sad
Still think ARK-2 needs a settlement system.
I cri ery tiem
preston appears
Another settlement needs your help
Dieston Viney.
@cunning talon can we expect the ASA servers to stay up and running with evo events for many years to come like we had with evolved?
That's the entire point of them making ASA, to support it for years to come on better Servers, software, and cleaner code lol..
I would just hate to buy it and all support for it get dropped when ark 2 releases
CC 356 "After carefully considering what would be the best outcome for those who enjoy ARK: Survival Evolved and would want to continue to enjoy it in the years to come, we decided that our initial plan would not be sufficient. We want to provide you with an evergreen classic ARK experience, one that can continue to grow over time on a cleaned-up code base, making use of the new technological advancements not only in the industry but also in what we are working on with ARK 2."
Ahh, fair enough lol I guess I missed that
No worries lol.
ASA will be updated alongside Ark 2 so as it stands they plan to support both
when is ark 2 electric boogaloo coming out?
ASA going to be cross play and cross platform modding across all platforms Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC (Windows, Steam, Epic)
Hopefully consoles won't be too turned off by the cross play. I know SoT console players were against it.
Can't speak for PvP, but I know the PvE experience at least from organized unofficial cluster is going to be 🔥 with cross play
For PvP? Xbox players are likely going to see a dip in numbers for sure, but it's always been that way with Win10 being in the mix like it has been
But there'll certainly be more overall than there would otherwise to cover the deficit
Currently targeting late/end of 2024
Is there a roadmap for Ark ASA for mapsI understand it starts off with the Island map, but what follows and when?
Scorched earth.
December
Is that how much we know so far? No info on future maps like Ragnarok etc?
One of the recent crunches had an updated roadmap for ASA map releases but I forget which. Ab and Rag I think should be Q1 2024
epic
Odds that we'll see anything in the crunch today that remotely signals they'll release ASA in october?
Probably, its getting too close for them to keep holding things back. But it is wildcard so you never know 😂
my wager is we're going to get a vague ''november" push
dollie already confirm for end of oct
Then in november they won't do december, because holidays, so it'll be "early january".
even last cc mods were confirm for end of oct
Chances are low IMO
Chances are it will be released by 31st oct, they arent allowed to delay it further than that without serious consequence
They totally stopped sharing info regarding ASA. I believe we will start hearing more about ASA throughout October
They seem to be more active recently, with the dev kit being shown and both dollie and jat being more active in disc
But the fact they choose a 3rd party mod to show in the last CC means (to me) they aren’t ready to show us ASA itself
Island: October, Scorched: December, Ragnarok: Q1 2024
Aberration: also Q1 2024
What about The Center? I thought they would follow ASE’s order
I think they will just follow the lore’s order and for the community maps they will start from the most popular ones
I think theyrr doing everything mostly in order but for some reason the center is moved around
heres hoping it gets an overhaul
From CC 368:
"We’ve also decided to separate the release date of The Island and Scorched Earth. With what we’ve learned about remastering The Island from the ground-up, it wouldn’t be feasible to complete Scorched Earth to a standard we’re happy with. So for now, we’re going to plan that Scorched Earth will be coming to ASA in December this year, Ragnarok and Aberration will follow in Q1 2024, and the rest of the maps beyond then."
Either way, it has to be released by 31st oct because of there nitrado contact.
I don't have an xbox s/x. Can I get ASA on windows 10 and play on pc?
The contract doesn’t oblige them to release by 10/31. Which it does is if they release after that, they will have to share their earnings with ASE and Ark 2 with Nitrado
At least not the leaked contract we saw
Yes
You will be able to get from Steam and Windows store
Not sure about Epic
but no way to take my saved data from ASE and get it on ASA? If I go ASA I'm starting from scratch right?
Yes
They are re-doing some things from the ground up. Old saves wouldn't be compatible and would restrict progress if you tried to make compatible. Puke and feel better afterwards.
yeah makes sense. I've had to restart multiple times before so whats one more really
maybe I can get my pick of a good spot in fjordur
its only gonna be island on launch, then scorched earth in december, ragnarok and aberration in Q1 2024 with the other maps releasing after that
shoooot lol
any chance they will bring some dinos from newer maps since they are revamping? maybe bring the fjordhawk and sinomacrops over to the island?
general asa crunch info
probably not, only thing mentioned about creatures on maps were the new community voted ones coming to their respective vote maps
missed opportunity, if not. would bring a semblance of new life into old maps with revamped spawn zones
Holidays are one of the best time to launch around, so your train of thought for that doesn't make much sense lol
True but i doubt they would want to do that
Did Island get a new dino vote too and I missed it? I know the Rhynio is on Island, but that's also for Lost Island, so it's not actually a new creature solely for The Island, whereas other maps are getting exclusive creatures 😮
Island is Rhynio, I think LI spawning is an oversight
Buscamos gente para el nuevo ark survival ascended oficial megatribus Si estas interesado escribeme.
El #1110949794907684965 o
Like the Dinopithecus on Valguero 😂
TBF I don’t want new Dinos, I want TLCs for the old ones.
I want the Ark 2 Rex ON ASA, also the carno, stego, ankylo, brachios and so on.
I mean, Dollie confirmed the dodos will have feathers, I just hope they look as good as in the Ark 2 trailer
Yeah, kinda why I'm not super interested in the votes. Older, underutilized creatures deserve to be buffed and made relevant instead of completely replaced by new models
bro end of october
so its a break time
yeah bro
I don’t. I want the ark 2 creatures to be functionally distinct from anything ark 1 ever had. New combat mechanics, behaviors, stats and traits. The works. And that would be jeopardized by any form of inclusion in Asa (IE ark 1)
Somewhat agree, if only because most of the dinos being voted on are solely for the mentionings of 1400 abilities even though WC stated abilities mentioned might help them define the creature, but aren't a guarantee they'll go in.
Example: that one dino as big as the titan that almost won. Thing had more abilities named than Daenerys Targaryen had titles lol
hey man, as long as the new big ant submission has 15 op abilities people will vote for it instead of something unique
They don’t have to have exactly the same features. I’m talking about the looks (at first) and then rebalancing them to ASA.
Just use the same art assets and balance them differently
The animations should reflect their mechanics
The old Dinos in the new engine will be a bit underwhelming to me
I also kinda want my ark 2 stuff to be new
Since the ark 2 and ark 1 rex are pretty dissimilar imo
But the creatures should look the same as they are the same creatures
Unless they say they mutated while in Arat
They aren’t though. They have the same inspiration, but they’re clearly not supposed to be faithful reconstructions of the actual animal
Im talking lore-wise
The ark 2 Rex is more aligned to the real beast
Game > lore every time. Lore can be rewritten
Asa rex should reflect that
Asa is a new game
And it’s getting new assets
And I want them to be the same as Ark 2 😂
I want ark 2’s to be newer still - and reflective of the art style ark 2 has
lore reason for new ark 2 designs is them evolving on Arat
You know I couldn’t care less about the lore Flobs lol
They never said that
i'm just here to stur chaos
20 tons of garbage collected in one day will do that to a man
Fair
But it's a fair possibility, especially if the Ark's and Genesis were prepping creatures to be more quickly evolved to adapt to new environments (X creatures, ect)
I’ve said they CAN use that kind of reasoning, but WC never said that.
But I hope they will share the assets, not the mechanics (because the games will be kida different).
This (sorry im backreading)
Yes they have, they did the first (possibly second, idr I just woke up) time they posted an Ark 2 dino, just nobody paid any attention to it
The story of ark in relation to dinos is that they're DESIGNED to be able to adapt to ANY environment, extremely quickly. It's also why they're so "easy" to tame.
So it would make sense that they're different, having landed on an alien planet.
which lore is this from?
ARK's lore
Which one? I don't remember that
ARK 1's lore.
The-One-Who-Waits.
Thanks reading that thread now
I believe at least.
Might also be in Genesis-1
The-One-Who-Waits just has like 60% of the confirmations, since her whole point is just lore exposition.
how much the price prediction for ASA?
Not a prediction, WC has confirmed it in a CC for $39.99 USD
We don't need to predict
40$ for the launch deal, 45$ after that (after 24-hours or a week, we're not sure) and 60$ once it gets out of Early-Access.
All in USD.
👆
I'm wary of letting genesis lore skew the view of ark because a lot of it is specific to the genesis simulation
Here a basic run down from 4 CC that they have put out.
ASA
ARK: Survival Ascended will now be a standalone package released on every platform (PC Windows/Steam, Xbox Series S/X, and PlayStation 5) at $39.99.
The package will include the following pieces of content built-in (not sold separately), with each remastered and altered for the next-generation on Unreal Engine 5: w/Cross Play and Cross Platform Modding
The Island (Released at Launch at the end __October 2023__)
Survival of the Fittest: The Island
Scorched Earth & Transfers (Release in December)
Ragnarok & Aberration (Released by Q1 2024)
Extinction, Genesis Part 1, Genesis Part 2, and all the community-created maps are also to be released over time in 2024 (Fjordur, Ragnarok, The Center, Lost Island, Valguero, Crystal Isles)
I hope it's coming to gamepass
There is nothing confirmed about a gamepass timeline now, but Xbox may reach out to WC to look at changing out ASE to ASA discussion with WC down the line since they usually update gamepass to the newer versions.
Only Ark 2 is confirmed it will be gamepass day one
Believe it's Helena's Island notes that mention the ease of taming dinos, which isn't natural at all. Especially with animals like the Megaladon.
Don't recall the other, will scan the notes to see if I can find the quick to adapt thing. Think it's the island one that says Rex in the snow biome thriving doesn't make sense too, though not a hard confirmation of that lol.
Yeah it's interesting.
Will ark asa more Processor bottleneck or gpu bottleneck?
no one knows yet
they havent released any info other then its coming out in the new engine and end of october
Don't have to type "ark" when you use abbrievation "asa" considering that means "Ark Survival Ascended", so saying "ark asa" basically saying "Ark Ark Survival Ascended"
It was mentioned in brief in Helena's Island notes regarding the Painted Sharks and how they tamed Megalodons too
Is asa and ark 2 the same thing
They're not
Nope, asa is an ark remaster
I still personally say it's more of a remake.
Pretty much yeah
But either way, ASA is a newer version of ARK-1. Which is nothing like ARK-2
Still hoping asa is better optimised but you never know, probably gonna play it either way tbh
I'm going to assume it'll be better optimized, and most if not all ASE bugs will be fixed.
Buuuuuut, it'll release with new bugs that may or may not be worse.
Unfortunately bugs are to be expected with any new game, but they are recoding the game entirely to fix bugs so hopefully thats what it does
Yerp
True and bugs found in ASA can make sure those don't show up in Ark 2.
Lets hope so,
But we all know what wildcard are like with fixing bugs
still it will be early access so bugs and need to improve performance will be require
Aslong as it doesnt run worse than ase i think i'll be fine with it
Praying its not another cyberpunk 2077 situation
dont hope much since this is a rush remake, barely spend what, 6 months since they announce?
They have already said that its been in the works longer than that, but still seems very rushed. Hence all the delays
Also, a lot of things are being ported over and reworked on, instead of being rebuilt from the ground up
no ark 2 yeh they said they work on the game before the first announce but not ASA
Dont change something that doesnt need fixing
90% of ARK needs fixing
Then port the 10% 😂
You crazy?
You really think they're remaking the coding for an 8+ year old game from the ground up instead of just porting it over and reworking it?
It's a lot more easier to port something and rework it, then it is to completely remake it.
ArkPark is born 😂
They said in one of the earlier crunches that it is being recoded, cant think which one though.
Also a bit delusional but arent we all?
This discussion has happened a million times. Regardless of UE5 stating you can "port" the game over from UE4 "seemlessly", UE5 HATES UE4, and the port breaks more things than solves.
They are porting over very specific things and reworking the rest as UE5 doesn't like ports from UE4 very often
but than isent that a remaster insted of a remake since the word itself says it all??
'Recoded' is the key word.
They're 'recoding' the game, not making completely new code to replace everything.
Yeah, i probably misunderstood a little. Im not the brightest of the bunch
Not interiorly.
In order to fix the issues of ASE, you have to start from scratch, so false, based solely off of what they have claimed they are doing.
The sad part is that we have no clue what they have done. At this point it seems like we may just need to wait for asa to launch to find out if anyone here is correct
a remake uses little to none of the previous game thats being "remake"
Jack is correct, and if everyone thought this we’d save tons of time
We could instead focus on more interesting game design questions 👀
👀
want a good one but aint happening?
That's.....that isn't how coding works.
It might be easier to do so, but you 'can' rework coding to fix it instead of starting from scratch.
They even stated the original plans for the scrapped UE5 port for ASE was just to port the Switch version to UE5 and publish it on every platform (which 'is' recoded to work, and is on the latest version of UE4)
With what it seems like WC is doing it what remaster should be. It to common for so called "remasters" to barely change basic things.
I'll use one about to come out as an example.. Tomb Raider 1-3 "Remaster" yet it looks like it could still be played on it original platform.
Pfft, more 'when Ark2??'s
No please. Have mercy
I personally think that they are recoding most parts completely, they already admitted to the spaghetti coding of ase.
In one of the crunches they also said about fixing the bugs and recoding the game being one of the main reasons for asa being a seperate game
I do agree with this. But that'd require them to 'port' the original code.
Which was my point. They're probably able to get away with developing this in 6 months due to the fact everything is being ported then reworked on.
"one that can continue to grow over time on a cleaned-up code base, making use of the new technological advancements not only in the industry but also in what we are working on with ARK 2."
that aint recoding
Yeah i agree with this, they are definitely trying to use the same code, but also trying to scan through and polish for any problematic areas.
These are all assumptions anyway due to wildcards silence in anything asa/ark 2
Don’t underestimate the time save caused by not needing to redesign the game from scratch
And dont forget that the original game was coded in a very short time aswell
They stated a few years into dev that many of the issues couldn't be fixed because of early on coding, that would need to be rebuilt from the ground up to fix.
And yes, you're referring to when they ONLY planned on a graphical update, which would still require them to fix code that broke in the port.
If they are doing as they claim, with full on mechanic changes, MAJOR balance passes to things that have been broken for ages they seemingly couldn't fix, and etc. they didn't port over most of the code.
If they did, most of the pressing issues will still be there on release, and they'll lose a lot of faith from the community because of it.
Unless you really think they ported over all of that code just to change almost all of it, on top of what broke.
Now that I think about it they could have done that, however non-optimal that is lmao.
But that was only a basic version
You can recode something to make it much, much better then it's previous version.
That's what Unreal-Engine 5 is to UE4.
UE5.1 is literally a recoded, better version of UE4.
Hang on
@untold ingot I'm not coding expert. So when you get online, mind telling me if coding can be reworked even if it's really shit, or if it's can't be repaired?
anyway if you wanna change talks why not talk about implement real physics for guns whit distance and wind effects on bullet trajectory since its UE5 that could be something (but again like i said that aint happening)
Hmm. I’m in favor. You’re talking Asa?
It can always be fixed. But if it's like a million lines long the time to fix can be a lot
It depends on how bad the coding is, some code isnt repairable and any attempt to change it will make more bugs. I belive a similar thing happened with the isle
yeh cause for ark 2 that would be arrows 🤣 although there's arrows on ASA too
Also depends on if you can find the area causing the issue
To you, what would be more practical.
Porting over ASE's coding to UE5 and reworking it, or just remake the coding completely from the ground up?
I’m super in favor of phasing out hitscan entirely from ark. It’s super busted and imo not a fun experience when it just smokes projectiles in terms of viability. Also way harder to aimbot with projectiles
plus pump shotguns being use as snipers, at least thats what i did on pve 🤣
Coding can be reworked even when shit (not always), the issue is how long it would take to do. Their early on coding was Spaghetti code after spaghetti code, combined with a little more spaghetti code on top.
That sort of practice, especially EARLY ON, makes it take longer than it would starting from 0.
And it can't be fixed all of the time, especially when things that reference each other aren't in order, because you constantly miss those reference points when changing something, and creates an even worse headache for you as entities get worse and worse as you try to make the change.
I would pick and choose. If the code has engine depedance it would need to be rewritten. If it is standalone functions it'll probably be fine
Ascendant Shotgun was the best weapon to have on your hotbar
Agree with this, in the case of ark im pretty sure recoding from the ground up is the best thing to do.
''Was''
Hard falloff for all weapons should also go in - I agree. Sniper shotguns is a meme, it shouldn’t be a standard lol
Main issue I have with this, is the time.
6 months I feel like is a really short time to recode a whole game with as much content ARK has post Early-Access release.
Shotty with sniper scope was so fun though
I use that in terms of I phased out of Ark waiting for ASA. It still the best weapon on ASE considering the range and the amount of hits per shot.
Again, design takes a LONG time. And Asa has very little design compared to a whole new game
It is a really short time, but they have a much larger workforce now. And a remaster/remake of a game is much easier to do as the designs and concept of the game is already there
but still thats more likely to happen on ASA unless its easy to give physics to bullets but i dont know anything about that
They have the code for overall reference. They also have their base mainframe of what they're making. Starting from 0 code while recreating it is far simpler than it sounds.
What specifically are we talking about with 'design' in this situation. Cause that's a broad term.
They already did give physics to projectile weapons. It’s the same with bullets - they’re just smaller
Game design. The choices of “what to add/change”
I assume they mean something like -- THey know the Island they are making. They aren't flat out making a brand new Island map, they know where everything is going to go and flow.
That’s part of design for sure - specifically level design
outside of some balance changes, most everything is the same.
For example, they already have the whole lore planned and completed in ase. But if it was a whole new game they would have to spend months planning that and how to implement it into the gameplay
We'll defiantly see when it comes out.
The core “ark” functionality is the same. And that core was likely the product of YEARS of design effort. Not repeating that is a huge time save
We have to unfortunately.
For all we know, no one here could he anywhere near whats actually happening
I do
It’s true. Jordan’s dad works for Microsoft
gonna be today cc whit a gameplay right?
My dad is Bill Gates
There is a huge difference between the code of a game, and it's asset placement. But the did already have practice doing both with the switch port
It's not unreasonable to think they could do it for the island in 6 months
Its not.
scorched earth on top was a bit of a stretch though imo
lol no gameplay tonight. We're getting a picture of the newly remastered wooden chair.
Sweet
or the creature for extinction
sitting on the chair
So long as it's top tier wood the chair is made out of I'm down.
Nah, not a chair
A Toilet
That way they can show off some of those new structure-affected water mechanics 👍
#mahoganyWoodPlz
redwood tree quality
As long as all 4 chair legs are in 8k i dont carr how buggy the game is
I’m actually hype to see if ark 2 has mahogany versus oak chairs
Didn’t we get confirmation of multiple wood types in ark 2
I dont think so. If we did it was in an early crunch
They said different types of resources that did the same thing would be in different biomes, so yes, but no, depending on how it's put in.
I don't remember, but there was speculation about resource variants
still needs sewage system to deploy in the ocean
I think theres gonna be recource varients but that could mean a load of different things
Personally, I hope we get ATLAS's version of blueprint crafting.
Much more interesting gathering different variants of resources then 'big number'
Atlas blueprints seem alot better than arks imo
arks blueprints are really basic.
My dad says we didn't have time to change them for ark ASA
If that is going to happen, the harvest rates on 1x need to get cut down to like 10% lol
Unfortunate
Basically, instead of gathering like 4,000 wood for a bp, you have to gather like 200 of 4 versions of wood.
I’d much rather have each wood provide a different spread of stats
That is alot better than just "12567 metal ingot"
The component crafting that got confirmed imo is a total game changer. I think old BPs are dead
If BP's even make it into ARK-2
1.2574x10e¹⁵ Polymer.
Hopefully this means that different recources and recource variations have different stats
We talking Asa or ark2 for bps
The ark 1 BP is probably pointless to ark 2’s design, as it’s all component and material based
I was talking about ASA personally, but both.
That’s my hope
I don’t think we’re getting resource variants in Asa tho
I believe the component based crafting confirmed that.
Realistically, we're probably not. But it would make BP's much more interesting.
Im pretty sure it did, but i cant be bothered to look through all the crunches
"The specific materials you choose will further affect the appearance of your items, with multiple options of resources found in unique regions of the world."
Yep, they did confirm appearance. And I don't see why it wouldn't effect stats either.
The only issue with materials effecting stats is that everyone will use the best materials and they will all look the same.
So they need to make a rock paper scissors type system
Depends on how they handle it.
Each region of a weapon would look different, and different resources may actually have drawbacks.
Ya but people will just min max the best and post it online
Scrapped tek for example may have the best durability for blades, but the worse damage.
While something like steel is the best damage, but worse durability.
Its a tricky system to get right which is why im nervous about it, especially with the "souls like combat"
Probably, but with proper balancing then there could be meta-counters built into other components or armor
RPS style, but with additional effects or properties so it's a little more interesting
I can see a lot of resources being left behind once you get to endgame, since some if not most will be for early-game survival.
But again, if done right they can give drawbacks to the more powerful resources.
Some recources have to get left behind imo, if something available early on is still as good as something you get late game, its not really worth grinding for
If the type of resources used depend on the appearance, I could see them having BP levels again that just only relate to the amount of resources, the higher level the more resources
There will be a meta to it - no question
Kind of like Dark-Souls upgrading system.
You can make the beginning weapon really fucking godlike for early-game enemies, but even at its max, it'll never be good compared to endgame weapons that can be upgraded farther.
The interesting challenge will be focusing on sidegrades and changes for people to experiment with tools that suit their playstyles rather than bum rushing the meta exclusively
It would have to be
You also have to consider the fact that they are adding a skill tree, so maybe some stuff in there could act as counters to certain recources or weapons
Skills should work with and complement weapon/component traits - I agree
it would make sense whit a skill tree having status effects, bleed poison so on

Status effects are alright if there's actual ways to reasonably cure them. Bandages for bleeds, antidotes for poisons, ect. Ark1 had very little in the way of healing or status mitigation outside med brews and Lesser Antidotes (Greater Antidote when?) or just hoping you survive
In a lot of ways ark1 surpassed it's creators designs and went a totally different direction from the original intentions I feel
Devs have stated that before
Hence Ark2 being more of a 'return to form' for their idea
Ark1's Tek and futurism got popular early on and Devs rolled with it
I can see Ark2 having expanded diseases and wounds, similar to how Starfield does it. Starts with a minor status, if untreated it gets progressively worse and opens up more infection/affliction possibilities unless you start treating them
Take away player air-borne infections and now you have diseases people will actually work to get rid of instead of everyone running around with Swamp Fever (why the fuck does it make you faster?)
Wonder if they'll ever return to it, since now they probably see that there's a divide between the pro/anti tek side of the community.
Hopefully Ark2 Tek is kept to lore/world building. Players shouldn't have it imo - at least until a few expansions later
Tek Scrap weapons and stuff or whatever is fine
Which is all the better to have ASA and Ark 2 supported together so anyone who just has to have tek can, and people who want a more natural experience have Ark 2.
I kinda want the industrial tier to be ark 2's equivalent of tek tbh
I will always remember my first days with the great effect of a fire camp light on the rocks of the cliff cooking my first meats out of a dodo, scared of what's arround in the dark awaiting to jump out of the bushes to try to kill me.
For me, my best experience is no tek 🙂
They did make ASA…
Early game, best game 👍
I know, but question now lies 'which one will be more popular/financially beneficial'
My answer to that is to make it both available as game mode, hardcore and hightek.
That would be more how I would see it yes. Likes vitamins in Atlas too
Original vitamins system in Atlas sucked ass. Buff for proper management are fine, but don't kill your players for not juggling the entire food pyramid - while also killing them for overeating
could be just something like less performance on speed, muscle, agility, aiming depending on vitamins/proteins eaten. If its balanced its balanced.
I don't bother cooking my meat in Ark, I won't bother juggling Nutrition Facts 😂
lol
It’s not gonna be that easy. The biggest issue ark has with tek is figuring out how to include the stupidly high variation in player power levels. Tek scrap or otherwise “integrated” tek is likely a nonissue and is gonna be relevant in ark 2 as we already saw
Also in a way that doesn't make the previous 100 levels of engrams and unlocks completely irrelevant
dint someone said the Dreadnoughtus was going to win cause had loads of op abilities? 🤣 this community as no sense to choose a creature that blends whit the map only goes for the abilities

If the community voted for creatures to blend with their maps, then the terror-bird 2.0 wouldn't had won Aberration.
exactly ab dosent have a place for that shit show of a bird, zero sense there
Like, I can see it in the fertile or biolum zone. But there was so much fucking better options then a bird.
i still say the spider that hipnotise was the perfect choice for ab
The scorpion/spider thing would've fitted Aberrations more horror vibes.
think we are talking about the same spider
was the one that would shoot webs to cross the land?
Yet the hoppy owl was a contender 🤔
The one that was all black, and wasn't the jumping spider?
yeh think we talking the same one
That thing was fucking scary.
and would be perfect for the blue zone on the darkest areas where was no blue trees
a yeti would make more sense than a owl on ab even a rat would make more sense
there are owls that live in burrows
you know what, since they wanted make a glass canon creature why not a porcupine???
How would a porcupine be 'glass cannon'?
was thinking about the description they gave to that crap bird
Losin' me
bet if someone draw a wyrm that shoot rockets from its ass and vomited elemente dush for ab it would wind
if you read the dossier the guy made you will understand the "glass canon" thing
got a video for you can i sand it to you
no thx i try to avoid baittubers
wel tilt it this They Want Me To Play Ark Survival Ascended! New Ark Merch Incoming? No Money For Marketing?
video titil
well look som youtube of ark will be to play asa soon
is there a release date for ark 2?
dude you gotta stop feeding those bait tubers its very harmful, only spreads bad info
is nor look fo you self
Late 2024
0.40
omg dude wake up stop feeding those trolls
time stap 0.40 read it
snails given streaming equipment and pc components, get real its all fake
Actually Snail themselves on their official Twitter have stated this.
see
ty boot
in exchange for activities they will give that???
yes
plus a month away from release they want ppl to test ASA???
They're looking for streamers with high followers.
So the exchange is that 'you play game early and you'll expose your audience to this game for us to make money'
We don't know when they're going to give them the keys, all we know is that they're starting to reach out now.
is there somthing to say to me fox
Yeah, basically gaining attraction for the game via clout.
It's what they did with Survival of the Fittest, to be fair.
when it happen i will apologize until them its fake for me
Fake....when Snail games themselves posted it?
shittt knowing snails 🤣
awww shucks
????
aye ig they have more time to fix bugs and create more pre created updates
then i just remember since they mention wc its whit them on that why this cc dint mention anything about it???
what
what you sade lol
shucks?
They don't really 'need' Wildcards approval for what is legally their game.
not saying they need wc approval but why so empty cc, thats the biggest news since the announce of ark 2 since you know streamers going to show ASA which its like 1000% more compare to what wc show us so far
Snail could've done it without them knowing, and so they didn't have time/the approval to send it in a CC.
damn thats some serious shit, guess backstabbing between snails and wc must be common pratice
asa my com out at end of next month if they do give keys for asa it will be ether midle of next month or start of it (edited)
Like....remember the whole fucking NFT shit Snail tried to pull that Wildcard had to shut down?
dollie already confirm ASA gonna come out at the end of next month
That was the crunch that confirmed it, she just confirmed the confirmation.
not really
Snail boasted how they're adding NFT's to ARK-2, and Wildcard shut that shit down quick.
well thats news to me
but who buy's NFT's?
Not smart people
I have 10
I would have thought it would be closer to the middle considering Halloween frankly.
Either way, it's at most 5 weeks away. Not a long waiting period in the grand scheme of things
5 weeks 👴🏽
Do you think because they are releasing so late in october they will do fear evolved on launch or not, im thinking no
I sure hope not
Fear Evolved is neat but i dont think a holiday event is the best thing to have RIGHT at launch
Thinking about that, Valentine's update would probably be the update best to do first as it would give time for anyone new to experience the game
I wonder what’s coming out first, gta 6 or ark 2?
for you on playstation gta 6 is more likely as there are currently no public plans for ark 2 having playstation launch/version
^ Ark 2 has a time exclusivity to release on Xbox X/S and PC before it goes to PS5
On the flip side there PC most likely be in Ark 2 as GTA 6 will be console timed exclusive to Xbox X/S and PS5
just a FYI about snails ambassador endorsement for streamers i just found the site and says the keys for approved participants will be given at launch, guess aint by streamers the game will be showcase before its on sale
guess i owned you an apology, seems that clip is legit
ty i am hearing some say the keys are for the day asa coming out but i do not no
ty for it fox
seems to be, thats what it says on the site to register that the keys will be given on launch
free is free lol
only for the approvel streamers, want the site? i can link you
i seen it but ty hop asa work out
but youtuber do get news on game some times fast som get it on time
or late

when will akr 2 release
when you work for wild card lol
no next year i think
oh ok
Late 2024 is the current window
the fastest we will get to see anything Ark 2 in-game is next year, so don't expect anything but mentions at Extralife as that's likely gonna be focused on ASA and maybe the animated series if they got a platform by that time
With that in mind, we do not plan to showcase any gameplay/screenshots/videos of ARK 2 this year; however, we intend to keep you informed and engaged in the development process by regularly showcasing more ARK 2 assets in the months ahead, leading to our gameplay reveal next year.
I don't expect that to change with the ASA delay and launch features removal
what a suprise, streamers get early access.
i remember when atlas did that. there the game looked smooth for streamers, cuz they had to host private lobbys. then official release happened and nothing seemed to work.
but your a boss in ark 2 yes lol
What?
Which features were removed? I don’t remember reading anything about that.
I mean, we don’t even know which new features are supposed to be implemented
Or which old features would be removed

Scorched removed from launch, transfers, thought there was something else but drawing a blank
Im pretty sure transfers were supposed to be blocked even if scorched was released day one. Scorched I wouldn’t consider a feature, but yeah.
Besides those, they didn’t specify anything, so it’s not really postponed because they never promised anything
That’s good PR actually
After all the confusion, they recomposed themselves and went silent
And this list is not exhaustive. We’re hoping to get even more done, and the only reason we aren’t covering all of those details right now is that we’re still working on them. It’s taking a significant amount of resources and time at the studio, and we don’t want to commit to other particular features unless we’re sure we can get them in for launch. And yeah, we may miss our deadline on certain aspects, but they’ll come in over time as we continue to support this next generation of ARK.
I'd consider a second map a feature 😂
Presumably you'd be able to transfer to it at launch but it was never originally specified as yes or no transfers
Like I said, it’s a grey zone to me 😂 my understanding is gaming features are more related to gameplay.
Fair, and I can see the confusion
Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about, they were cautious to not promise exhaustively the features so they wouldn’t have to postpone any of them
Overall, things that would have been now won't be, at least not yet
Yeah, besides the meaning of game features, I agree with you. Postponements of ASA should affect Ark 2.
boutta be the biggest scam
Nah… I’ve seen worst
like what
boutta charge 60 dollars for a filler game
then another 80 for ark 2
with better graphics thats it
First of all, they will sell ASA + All ASE DLCs for 40 usd
Hooo boy, someone is out of date
That’s probably not accurate
you'd expect them to use recent/accurate info
Isn’t that a good thing?
probably 40 max bc it's gonna be a early access title
🍿
Also, I’m pretty sure they are adding new features. It’s not just a new engine.
yh
The UE5 update would be a filler game. ASA is a remake. I wouldn’t consider it a scam if they deliver what’s promised. We will see
Also, new dlc. It could be revolutionary, depending on what they are planning for that
when does ASA come out?
End of October
Could be a lot of things. I have yet to see any gameplay videos or really anything substantial. So it's really hard to tell what WC is cooking up.
wc is cooking you up on a fryingpain lol
will there be community crunches after officaIL Servers shut down ?
Yes, why wouldn't there be?
When was this mentioned?
Rumor
Snail games retweeted it.
Isn't a rumor, Snail games stated they're doing it on their Twitter.
Ah
Streamers get it so they can ban them early
So basically shi Hai and his grand kid get to play early
Oh, they've probably 'been' playing it
Talking about the Arkade tweet?
10/10 they won't give it to anyone credible
Yeah, and the fact Snail games confirmed the tweet to be accurate
Look forward to your key Raq!
/j
Read that tweet again. It says people will be given codes for steam ON LAUNCH. lmao
What's that supposed to mean
Oh, fair actually.

I scrolled back so far like what am I missing xD lol
when is ark ascended coming out?
End of October
