they did say the development was going great, plus it being a early access release and less restrictions from lockdowns etc i think it will be out next year. also yes it was announced at the 2020 Game Awards

they could show the gameplay when they want or if microsoft wants to save it for that potential event early next year bc they are under a NDA due to their partnership with Microsoft (there are several obvious clues that they're under NDA and wanting to show stuff but being unable to do so)

I think notes will return, but more as optional journals to read for expanded lore, while the main story is told directly told you. Akin to other open-world games

After you out-pog all of the small pog poggers poglin pog friends you can try and outpog the poggers poglin pog king. If you fail you must restart the process fighting the pog poggers poglin pog friends if you manage to out pog the poggers poglin pog king you can do some damage to the poggers poglin pog king and then you will start phase 2 out of 4 where he will split into imposter poggers poglin pog kings and you need to try and out pog all of them, the one you can't out pog is the real poglin king. Then you need to start a pog battle with the poggers poglin pog king and then if you win you can do more damage to the poggers poglin pog king. Phase 3/4 will be like phase 1 but far more difficult because the pog poggers poglin pog friends with be higher level and there will be more of them. Phase 4 is all of the phases combined plus the pogggers poglin pog king grows to be a crazy pog size which will be very difficult to out pog because of the poggers poglin pog king's immesne poggers pogginess. If you can out pog the poglin king your reward is the abilty to out pog anything in the game.

We know creatures on the Arks were genetically engineered to be susceptible to domestication, it's very plausible to assume other changes were made to make them more adaptable to their environment - especially considering all the near-magical abilities some of the creatures have. And thats not even including the mythical-type creatures like Phoenix, Golems, Wyverns, ect

So they can probably start adapting to new environments very quickly as opposed to over many generations with natural selection

There’s a distinct difference between forcing creatures to be adapted for a new environment versus making something “adaptable” to any environment

The way they make it out to be in the steam-page, is that each different type of resource will change the physical appearance of the end-result tool.
So imagine ATLAS, but each resource actually makes a specific part of a pick look different.

Because I think I did the math and found that you only need about 30 materials to get nearly a million possible outcomes with 3-4 slots

In Atlas, those resource variants really only came into play when crafting blueprints most of the time. Basically the same as vanilla Ark1, but smaller amounts of variant resources instead of a shit load of metal or whatever

My guess for Ark2 is they'll have some generic parts that multiple creatures can drop, then maybe 1-3 creature specific things. Raptors and Troodons might drop small claws, small/medium agile bones, ect but only Raps drop Raptor Claws or something

Assuming each slot could hold one of each item, with repetition allowed 30 resources with 4 slots only gives about 800k variations. With multiple different weapon types and armor it could easily get into millions, but just barely. I am more anticipating like 5 slots, with fewer resources usable
