As the arks were purifying the earth of all element he wasn't able to take over the planet like he intended. So he went to Arat Prime and used the tech there to upload himself into the simulation, so he could commandeer the ship and find a planet that he could take over

one question, what is a homo deus and how do you become one?

Homo deus were humans who evolved to basically transcend the physical form during the element wars, they essentially became compendiums of all knowledge. They worked with surviving humans to establish the ark program. But the longer they lived as homo deus, the less in touch with the physical realm they were, and so their ability to communicate with humans was essentially cut off. They could only sort of touch the minds of humans on earth to guide them in the right direction. They all exist in a sort of separate dimension as they're energy-based, and they all share the burden of powering and overseeing the arks

It's left unclear what exactly the requirements were to ascend, but it's hinted at that it's something to do with the nervous system's ability to process information at a higher rate (as in Helena's synchronization readings in the mek.)

The physical process of transcending was described by Helen's ascension. Basically, she came into contact with some of the tech left behind on extinction, and she passed out. She could still communicate telepathically, but her body was basically disabled. She guided the people with her to carry her body to an altar in Sanctuary, and when they placed her body there, a huge beam of light came down and her body rose into the air, until she essentially just disappeared into light

Scorched is an entirely different ark. The surface on abb got messed up because the tribes that settled there were the first survivors to come from the TEK Era on earth. They were able to figure out that something was up a lot faster than survivors on other arks because they came from a more advanced age. The inventor of TEK weapons, Santiago, was one of the survivors in this tribe. With their expertise, they devised a plan to bomb the ARK in order to escape, because they figured they were in something more like a zoo and not a spaceship. So they set everything up and set off the bomb, and it damaged the obelisks. The barrier around the ark was weakened dramatically from the bomb impact, and the atmosphere leaked out. This caused solar radiation and heat to completely wipe out the surface, and forced survivors to settle in the cave system instead

You weren't "supposed" to have an implant on extinction since it was Earth and not an ark. Theoretically if you died on extinction, it was permanent. So Helena hacked the tech on earth to allow survivors to respawn in the same manner they could on the arks, making it possible to actually fix the problem on earth. Once Earth was saved, there was no longer any need for a respawning system

And no we never became Homo Deus. The only thing Helena does is to change/remove the implant and showing us what happens.

The heightmap for it that Diana shows actually is its own unique ARK that's more akin to a Island.

I think i've figured out how Rockwell can convert metal into meat.
The ship is made out of tek, right?
