I find it to be the other way around.
Genesis: Part 1 was just a giant grind in unrealistically difficult to survive in biomes made even harder by overpowered X-Creatures. The "Lore" in Gen 1 was something to scoff at.
In Genesis: Part 2 we have a giant Map with smooth transitions, balanced difficulty, no overpowered X-Creatures and Missions that have a lot more longevity than Gen 1 Missions. Harder maybe, but a lot more interesting than "Throw Dodo in hoop". We get actual Lore in Gen 2 instead of the "Haha funny man thinks he's a wizard Harry fireball go brrrrrrttttt". The ending was great, the Map is beautiful and the final bossfight is actually fun instead of Hell like CMC.

I mean seriously, you know how tempting it is just to go back and fight Rockwell Prime on Gamma just because I can?

The bossfight was interesting! Fun dialogue, amazing ending, great gimmicks that actually worked, etc. Plus it's not chop-your-fucking-testicles-off difficult.

There's a difference between difficulty and annoying gimmicks that provide the illusion of difficulty though pointlessly fucking with your Survivor.

Don't get me wrong, the avalanches were cool. So were the eruptions/meteor showers. But having half of the Snow Biome in an annoying blizzard, shitty "whirlpools" that feel half finished, Insect Swarms, Parakeet Fish and the likes is just horribly executed.

What should have been amazing natural disasters to keep you on your feet in certain areas came out as just "completely avoid this area" or "oh boy, I'm being spammed with an annoying Creature that barely functions correctly again".

The point of having a natural disaster should be to find a way to avoid it. From what I know, there's no creative way to protect yourself from Whirlpools, Microswarms, Eruptions, etc. They're just unavoidable annoyances that ruin the gameplay.

Seemed like the ARK-station was still active a 'little' bit in the Extinction ending. Which if you know, Rockwell never actually dies in Aberration. He's actually so fucking powerful that the ARK station has to forcefully make him retreat into the element pool after X-amounts of damage to make the ARK actually now a fair challenge. Hints why he's really the only boss in the game that we never 'see' die. He's still alive and active when he's being pulled into the element pool.
