Question for ark lore nerds. At the end of extinctions the arks including abberation came to earth. If I'm not mistaken the life boat was sent out before the arks came home so how is rockwell on it?

A meteor crashes into Earth (in the future), containing a strange material we call Element.

Two main factions fight over this material, named the URE and Terran Federation.

I’m not sure if there were more than two, but the story only features 2

Turns out the material is sentient.

And Element starts corrupting the Earth, mostly because the century-long war over it made it get out of control

There’s pure element and non-pure element. Non-pure is contained and controlled, and is considered “safe”. Pure element is very dangerous and a pinkish-purple.

So the URE and Federation make peace to try and save humanity

The URE creates the ARKs, space stations that float above the Earth, meant to reseed and eventually free the Earth from corruption.

The Island is one example of an ARK

And the Terran Federation makes the Genesis Simulation and colony ship, which is supposed to find a habitable planet and start a new world.

Genesis Part 2 is on the colony ship.

So these beings of Element, called Titans, started controlling the Earth

This made the ARKs unable to reseed.

Which is why us, the survivors, have to defeat the Titans on Extinction.

Fast forward a shit ton of years, Helena and some of other main explorer note characters wake up on the Island

this summary is very disorganized, I’m sorry

Those characters ascend to new ARKs, with Helena and Rockwell (an old british man) ascending to Scorched Earth, and Mei Yin (chinese warrior) ascending to Aberration with Nerva’s (Roman general) corpse.

This is when Rockwell begins to go insane over Element.

He ends up poisoning an entire tribe because of it.

Fast forward, Helena and Rockwell both ascend to Aberration and meet Mei Yin (again)

They meet the tek survivors, an advanced tribe that broke Aberration by nuking the Overseer

Rockwell ends up injecting himself with pure Element

He mutates into a weird tentacle monster and kills most of the tek survivors

The remaining survivors force Rockwell into the depths of Aberration

Since the ARK is missing an Overseer, it choses him as it’s new Overseer

Making Rockwell the final boss of Aberration

Helena, Mei Yin, and a couple tek survivors (Including the Federation hacker Santiago) use a gateway they made to get off of Aberration and onto the Earth (aka Extinction)

Titans hunt them down and Santiago sacrifices himself to save the remaining survivors

Helena inserts a special prism into her implant, transforming her into a Homo Deus

As a Homo Deus, she revives Diana, a tek survivor from Aberration who was Mei Yin‘s partner

Helena tells Mei and Diana to go to Arat Prime

That’s the last thing we’ve heard from Mei and Diana iirc

And finally, we come in.

Our survivor follows the explorer note’s writers footsteps, going from the Island, to Scorched Earth, to Aberration, and Extinction.

We supposedly save the Earth by killing the Titans on Extinction and letting the ARKs reseed.

However, Aberration crashes down onto the Earth, which may have messed the protocol up.

When Ab crashed, it released Rockwell, who seeks revenge on us and Helena.

And now: Genesis.

Rockwell begins to try to take control of the Genesis simulation.

Our survivor and HLN-A, a fractal personality created by Helena (HLN-A has the personality of Helena when she was still human.) ruin Rockwell’s plans by defeating the Master Controller and leaving the simulation

In Genesis part 2, we explore the Fed colony ship, which is being taken over by Rockwell.

He has taken over the first ring, which is now Rockwell’s Garden.

Inside his garden are his innards, which was made when he started mutating further to control the ship.

Gen 2 ending spoilers:||In the end, we kill Rockwell (Losing HLN-A in the process) and save the habitable planet that the ship found from Rockwell’s corruption. ||

They probably left the fate of Earth fully unknown. Cause they're done with the Sol-System.
The story for the fate of Earth ended in Extinction. The Genesis maps acted more like a Epilogue, and a bridge for ARK 2.
Whether you're the same survivor, or not. Is up to you.

Santiago on the ship is not the same like the on on Abs/Ext. Both originate from the original Santiago Data /which were saved some time after the Element war and Ship had a copy and the Arks had a copy of this version of him. The ship so altered his memories, grew him a new body and maybe even altered his personality. A reason why he is on the ship. He knows nothing about Abs/Ext Santiago or what that Santiago did. 2 different persons.

WIth Rockwell, I would say, he went to Arat prime and was able to upload himself into the Gen Sim and started tocorrupt frome there and respawned in a body there, even his cause he was in the data bank there as well.

For our survivor, I think if you decide it is the same like on the Arks, that Helena did put our Data in so we have all our memories. Most plaussible for myself but still a lot of plot-holes.

Death is never the end as the arks have pulled matrix of the survivors from different times even when they have been dead for thousands of years. So if Santiago got to respawn multiple times there's no way we can definitely say that rockwell or Mei-Yin or Diana are dead in ark 2

The more logical explanation could be we were all along on the colony ship and were getting trained to start new life ( seed ) on newly explored habitable planet all the while making us feel that arks were real, whereas in fact they were training us for the unknown on the new planet. Arks were used to weed out matrix database of useless people from potential survivors. That would definitely cover how rockwell got into colony ship

The homo deus were actually overseeing the arks initially when they lost their memories/ personalities over time. Them having ability to ascend to other arks, tests mean that they have those boss fights for some end goal

I never said they did not oversee the Arks, but the Arks are there to save humanity and live on earth. Homo Deus only took the part to take care of the Arks and ascending is not becoming Homo Deus.. it selects you to beeing a good fit as survivor but that got out of controll.

SO the goal of the Ark was to select the most fitting human, so the people going back to earth would be the best fit to rebuilt it.

But cause of the corruption on Earth the Arks stood in space way to long, the Homo Deus in the Arks partly vanished or totaly lost themseld and the Arks made every bossfight harder and harder and people that Ascended went into an endless loop of going from Ark to Ark, which gots broken by the survivors on Abs, who built the gateway project and finaly ported to earth.

SO end goal of the Arks was "Select out the best fitting humans to repopulate earth"

He then says "Helena..?" The use of the question mark seems important like he is surprised to see her. Finally he says "I'm afraid." I think Helena showed up there. Homo Deus' glow and his confusion to see Helena would make sense. Also seeing the women you thought was dead that tried to kill you years ago while your dying would be terrifying||

Scorched's lore is inacurate it just has things we didn't see in the game that we do now. The idea was that they would come back to it after sometime polishing the base island and whatever else but because it came out while ark was still in beta(please correct me if I'm wrong) it got ignored and they just worked on finishing the island by adding ascension, polishing a few things, adding tek stuff, and working on Aberration, they then said we're not adding ascension to SE and were moving on meaning that a lot of info seems inaccurate but it's not.

@left grove it’s established that a connection was left from arat prime to the genesis simulation/ship, it’s how hlna is involved and the same way Rockwell gets there, from what we can understand from the lore Helena sends us into the simulation so we can follow Rockwell, weather that means like Santiago there are now multiple survivors, since that body we wake up in on the genesis ship was always on the genesis ship, I’m thinking there multiple, unless Helena was like, imma turn you entirely into data so I can upload you into another version of you’s body

So either there’s two survivors or Helena with homodeus shenanigans makes it so that we are entirely transferred

The ship was sent into space around the same time the Arks were launched. The ship was the second solution to deal with the corruption on Earth that started to get out of hand after the war between Feds and URE. Arks and reseeding earth was the plan of the URE mostly and the ship and finding a new planet was the plan of the Feds mostly but both factions did work hand in hand at the end.

Also Nida's note make it pretty obvious that the ship is allready in space for centuries ant least.

That is open to you but it is stated in the notes, that the ship is in orbit for centuries at least and that it has launched around the time when the Arks did. It is also stated that a connection from Arat prime to the ship was left open and this could be a possible way Rockwell got on it by uploading his data to it.. same could have happend with our survivor. But it is stated the ship was allready long gone, when the arks came back to earth.
