And at this time, Hlna had only been active for 3000 cycles, which we later learn is a measurement of days

I’m not sure what I’m leaning towards, that there are now two survivors or just the one, pragmatically it’d make sense for two since the survivor saved earth, but perhaps their job on earth was done and there’s only one

Ok I will have some spoilers in my theory here but I think this theory has solid evidence looking at it.
Helena seems to have detected Rockwells presence in the Genesis ship
Rockwell seems to have become a Homo Deus similar to Helena but Corrupt
Because of this that means he is able to freely travel between the Genesis ship and the ARKs
He leaves the ARKs in favor of the ship for obvious reasons and soon takes control over it and starts growing in one of the rings
Nida a farmer was the first to find HLN-A who was put there to fix the glitches but is unable to do it fully without someone being attached to someone, further supported in the boss fight by Rockwell when saying ||"How long has your latest meat puppet even been thawed"||
Rockwell starts growing in the ring and soon corrupts it and no one can seem to fix it, he started creating creatures that he would use to protect the ring and made them seriously agro
We meet up now to defeat Rockwell and the ending plays
||Rockwell becomes uncorrupted at the very end and joins Helena (maybe but it would line up, option 2 is that he is eradicated and truly died)||

That's what I meant in my thing. It's left open to interpretation since we weren't in the room. An obvious design chose meant to leave the ending open to the player this time around. Every other ending is straight forward and has a clear indication of where we go next and how we got there. In extinction Earth is un-corrupted and life continues on, aberration we come to earth and have to fix it, the island we go to scorched earth, this one is open because we can't visual see it nor can we see the thought of rockwell or see through his eyes we only hear.

||Depends on if the Nerva clone on the ship made it to the planet and how his memories have been altered. So it will never be the Island Ark Nerva. As we get to know from the notes the ship and the Arks had sepperated human matrix data bases but with the same original memories of the same humans. You see that on Santiago who is pretty different from the one on the Arks. They even state his memories got engeniered and changed in some points and he is actually not the Santiago from the Arks which explains that he is not dead. It actually proofs in some way that clones can be pretty different from the original or each other. So might be possible there is a Nerva on the planet, even Diana and Mei might be possible.||

||i dont know if anyone already talked about this (someone probably has) but i really like the biblical references in genesis 2, like the eden zone, or garden of eden or paradise, which is the good zone, and the summoners resembling seraphim, the highest angelic order, and summoners being rockwells major defense system (both important). also a seraph was often depicted as an eye with six wings with eyes on them, and summoners have an orb in the middle and six fleshy flower-like petals with eyes on them. then there is the fact that the ship is called a lifeboat, like noah's ark (also where the name of the arks came from (carrying life)), and of course the name genesis (beginning) (the ship brings life to a new planet to begin again). also rockwell calls himself god, but i dont think that really is a reference.

I think original Santiago never was on the ship. He was allways a clone. He even mentions it himself cause he says he dies in the Element War of Feds and URE and they did get him back to lead the ship project and later finds out that even his memeories are partly engeniered/altered. But for the rest yes, Santiago on the Arks and Santiago on the ship are two different persons.

The Ark Santiago never was on the ship, they are not the same but the Feds and the URE both had bif archives of data with similar people saved in the but sepperated. One Databank for the ship, one for the Arks. So Ship Santiago never experienced what Ark Santiago experienced after he went to the Arks and Ark Santiago never experienced what ship Santiago eecperienced after cloneing. Both started at the state when their data was saved I guess shortly bevor Santiago got killed in the Element war between URE/Feds. So ship Santiago has altered memories and with Ark Santiago we don't know but also explains their differences in personality.||

SO you take a person and save their memories. One you save on an USB stick, the other on on another USB stick. One you give to the Feds, one you give to the URE. They take them and put them on sepperat data storages.

Years later the Feds make a clone on the ship, which is clone A, the Arks make a clone years later which is clone B.

So you have two different clones of the same base person but both do different things. additional, clone A on the ship gets altered (memories erased, memories added, personality altered to make them more fitting for the job, new body given), Clone B on the Ark may have not been altered at all.. so both live a different live and none of them knows what the other clone has done or if he even exists.

Also on the ship, they have the option to save the data of Clone A all the time and do so... like we see in Santiago's explorer notes. He is allready cloned and modified and in the end gets killed by that one dude (i can't remember the name) and then his memory data is put into the data storage of the ship. He also is aware that he was brought back and can be brought back any time which ma have happend on the ship a lot.. so that is why in the end he says "Respawned again" cause he is aware of, that he allready has been brought back on the ship several times.

Clones on the Arks never were brought back, probably to sort out the weak. The respawning of clones of the Arks was something that Homo Deus Helena figured out a lot later, when the ship already was in space for Centuries.

Diana was the first person ever brought back from the Arks and Helena was not able to bring back any of the others she knew.

He couldn't find any other survivors, so he made his own friends -- mannequins out of thatch and sticks. His brain went tropeo at some point, so he started talking to them.
He made huts for them to live in, and eventually a whole village of mannequins. Harmless fun, until ia stray spark caught the whole thing afire.
