That is the name of the channel
Just read the notes on the ark gg official site
ARK
Yeah it's super cool haha
It's probably not going to happen from Wildcard, so it's up to us fans. Many write Ark stories, myself included, but I've never met anyone interested in writing the story of the notes into a full novel.
Personally, the reason I won't do it, is because the story would end up being my interpretation of the notes despite everything done to keep it accurate, and not everyone would accept it. Perhaps if many lore nerdz joined together to give input into such a project, allowing it to be as accurate to Ark fan's as it should be, it would be possible. For now though, I don't see anything like that happening
It takes a good writer that does a bare minimum of research to convert multiple journals (which is the notes are) into a full novel
The notes are not meant to be novelized or else it will lose the sense of mystery that is intended to make
Let's be real, video game adaptations to books usually leave bad books. It's not designed that way
Oh god, especially games to movies
The only ones that are successful are games barely have much lore to begin with Sonic is the best example of this
or even something as a niche game like Detective Pikachu
Movies and books made from games are some not fan producers fanfic of the game
The ark animated show might be the exception, but only because the makers of ark made the show
even they don't follow their own lore lmao that ain't an exception
Gen 1 kinda proved it like it's just nothing but player gameplay and PixARK reference lmao
I would not say that. Most books set in video game worlds are generally well written. Books that are directly adapting a games story can struggle a bit, though. Probably the best example I’ve seen in that regard is the Pokemon adventures manga
first issue tho where cleffairy is a sasy mascot
Yeah That would be a fun thing to organize
Nothing major just a couple short ones
I feel bad for helena in the ark lore I dunno
Well, yeah. The notes are meant to be read as notes, and they're too loose to adapt to a book without interpretation. There's a reason the order usually goes book --> movie
or
book --> game
instead of the other way around
Talking about book to game, Metro series is a good example of staying faithful while changing just enough for the games to be their own universe.
Most of the core events of the 2033 book where kept in the game, but some visuals changed for different artistical interpretations.
Librarians where more slimmer and alien-looking like in the books, and they changed them to be more gorilla looking in-game as the Dark One already filled up the 'mutant that looks so mutated it's practically alien' role.
Do we have any speculation what happened to diana and mei yin after (arat prime)
Lived happily ever after ❤️
😭
Oh yeah @quaint marsh You said this, can I See what you wrote?
Mmm, sure. Lemme dm you
guys who tf is helena im looking into the lore
The goat
bruh im watching neddy the noodles vid and thats not even a lie
Love his videos
They help alot
ik right?!
I wanna make a video of the ark lore discussion but idk what
wait i just had a crazy idea
Question, so the King Titan in ASA, at least the wandering one, it's the only one I've seen so far, has the blue element that's usually associated with refined element. Is this just to show it's weaker, or is it hinting that element is never truly tamed, even when "refined"?
Just narrative inconsistencies.
The King Titan shouldn't be wandering at all, since it's stated in the notes that after Mei and Diana woop its ass in the Mega Mek, it dipped out before it could die.
The One Who Wait's notes then states that after this, the King Titan stayed on his throne (the arena you normally fight him in) due to those events.
Basically got PTSD.
poor king titan
yeah, lots of things are just for gameplay. wandering king titan is gameplay and testing UE5 stuff
Basically.
Kind of wished though they just did that with the base titans.
'THAT' would've stayed in canon
1 is easier then 3
Ice Titan just takes a stroll around the wasteland.
wasn't it ice titan in the trailer too
In the first Extinction trailer, yeah.
The Survivor was on a cliffside before dude climbs up and roars.
would be cool if the "wondering titans" are randomized tho
I wish there was a cutscence of helena ascending, or just cutscenes of the characters, but that would not make sense so womp womp
did helena like cats?
what about rockwell
or mei yin and gaia
his names gaia right
or is it nerva
Helena is probably a dog person.
Rockwell would've disected and experimented on them.
Mei-Yin? Yes.
Who the fuck is Gaia?
Nerva? Probably, because that was around the time that they still normally used cats to protect grains/kill mices/pest control.
for Nerva personally, he is neutral
he can use cats as living shields against Egyptians which is Raia is
Raia passionately loves cats, it is part of her faith
I feel like helena would like both lol
Gaius Marcellus Nerva
One message removed from a suspended account.
i imagine at least one person does =P
helena likes/is neutral towards most of animals I imagine (except seekers lmao)
Hope they remove the hlna note on gen 1 complaining there were no kittens in the arks
Doubt it as most dossiers are not canon
- looks at sky shrimp dossier mentioning cryopods before Helena sees Tek in Ab
- looks at coelacanth "not being tameable" before fish baskets existed
If anything, dossier should be updated in line with the notes
honestly i always felt that dossiers should be decanonized and written to actually be beneficial for gameplay, cause as it stands they really don't add to the story and don't thoroughly explain the creatures abilities most of the time
Some of them do help expand the world more then the notes did.
Araneo dossier explains that they're the ones that naturally form caves, before the discovery that the ARK's can warp and shift their environment.
Troodon's dossier confirms they're basically chimp-level of intelligent.
Rex/raptor dossier confirms these aren't normal Earth animals.
obviously there are some exceptions, but in the how many dossiers does this game now have, very few actually add valuable context
Rhynio dossier still confirms that Helena, is in fact, a fucking idiot.
did that... need confirmation?
No, but more references to enforce it is always good.
you know, fair
if i ever have to write a paper about how idiotic someone can be, the explorer notes are great references
"I swear, every new creature I come across here makes me more sure they've all had their genes tampered with. I know I'm right about this."
Yeah, no shit Helena. I'm not a biologist/zoologist, but last time I checked no goddamn insect on Earth got to the size of a Rhynio. 🐟
To be fair, the cat dossier is written as if Helena only stumbled across the cats once she made it back to Earth, so it's possible that there were no cats when she was on the ARKs and that they were added to the ARKs at a later point for some reason. HLN-A has Helena's memories and thus would not remember cats being present on the ARKs.
That's what I interpret with these creature additions.
They're 100% canon to a degree (besides the BTT and FT creatures) just creatures added onto the ARK's post-Helena ascension.
i found them dubious at best tbh especially things that she mentioned
Why they not spawning on ext but just on island instead then
Even the trailer for them was on ext..
Maybe some last minute decision for whatever reason
why do you think trailers should not be canon lmao
last time i checked Helena never met bob on a beach while riding a raptor and killed him on sight (ASE Cinematic Trailer)
Most Dossiers are canon.
Saying most of them aren't is just straight up incorrect.
Most of the new Dossiers aren't canon.
Assuming cats aren't in Genesis Ascended, this Note is actually fine. HLN-A doesn't have Helena's memories at this point and wouldn't remember the existence of cats, thus making the Note kinda throwaway in a sense.
the definition of "new" becomes more murky because of the ASA/ASE split
i consider them not canon tbh
i mean the parasaur lady in the parasaur dossier is just a dev call out, (specifically Jen) and she is not mentioned in the notes when she give helena the parasaur should affect helena's entries since again Notes are like Personal Diaries
thus scroll to this reply for my personal suggestion
I don't get what the second one is saying.
coels aren't tameable before fish baskets and those require fungal wood making it only tameable post aberration.
i called that giant bug things the "sky shrimp" long since it won the votes and revealed the concept art for it
Just because you consider them not canon doesn't mean you should go around telling everyone they aren't canon, because most of them are
Most of the new Dossiers, namely Rhynio onwards, are of dubious / non canon
@mental basin see the reply
The Coelcanth in specific can be written off, as it can easily be explained that she had never seen anyone tame fish on The Island
see the reply about removing part of the already established note just to compliment the creature added to the game
that is the context
I have no idea what you are saying lol
coels aren't tameable on the island. even ingame they aren't.
i don't just "go around telling its not canon" there is sometimes context being missed 😛
@main mural i am talking about this
what does that have to do with coels?
coels even now aren't tameable on the island
so the dossier is still correct.
bot doesn't like ellipses.
i let you start from that reply and see if you get what i am putting down, if you know what i mean
you are saying that coels' dossier should be updated despite it still being the case for where the dossier was written because aberration has fish baskets.
doesn't make sense to me
i am talking about altering notes just because the creature or feature is added in the game LMAO
its is not just about the coel
To be fair, most engrams are no longer map specific. Only recipe wise they are.
Think you can make a fish basket on The Island.
but coels doesn't even work for that cat one lol
it takes fungal wood so no
Oh shit, u right
mods go brrr anyhoo
ah yes, the lore mods 😂
hey people came here for "what is the best stat" whenever the chat is slowed down lmao
TFW it's just now i realized you are talking about mods here not game mods
back transfer is canon apparently lmao
why add mods when you can edit the crafting costs in vanilla
And who really needs to tame fish anyway haha
I personally love that many engrams are locked behind specific maps, makes playing those maps more unique
Such as climbing picks and wingsuits
Not on ASA
that's... cringe
official mod maps and server INI go brrrr
You know an aquarum for fishes for fish pond would be lovely to see as a player
Yes, of course there are ways around it, was meaning if you played the official way lol.
I did a full playthrough of the story maps with a friend, same characters on every map with some items transferred over and boss tames, but no cross arking. Had to finish a map to move to the next one. We had all engrams unlocked, even DLC ones, but didn't use any if we couldn't craft them. Mining drill was fantastic on all maps, but Gen 1 would have felt so much better if it had been exclusive to it. It's fun to try different ways of grinding and of course there will always be the most efficient one, but if you're forced to play differently for every map, it makes it all that more interesting
For instance. When we played Aberration, we used mining drills.
Now I'm playing Ab with my brothers and I'm finally getting to try using crabs, the crab + anky combo works great and it's perfect for three players. (One on crab, two on ankies). I wouldn't have ever done this if we had been able to use mining drills.
Of course, everyone plays differently and on PVP you need to use the best possible technique. But when you've played the game so much and you're on PvE and can relax, it's interesting to try new things
Could just install solo farm mod. It's better than mining drill for literally everything
Inagine mining drones in lost colony
Isnt that BTT robot kinda are
I wanna say no and yes i would like little mining drones
yeah nerva i couldnrt remember his name
ABOUT THIS CONTENT
Confront the demons of Arat Prime -- birthplace of the ARKs -- in ASA's first massive canonical expansion pack, ARK Lost Colony! Starring Michelle Yeoh as Mei Yin in cinematic anime sequences by legendary Japanese studio MAPPA, the epic new story of ARK Lost Colony bridges the gap from ARK Extinction to ARK Genesis and into the world of ARK 2. As you follow in Mei Yin's footsteps through an intense journey into the heart of darkness, you'll unlock powerful "Lost" character ability trees, befriend exotic tames, craft "Cursed" tiers of gear, and master advanced new building systems!
But beware, the frozen wastes of Arat Prime are not devoid of intelligent life; on the contrary, the city has become a war-torn battleground between twisted Element-powered 'factions' seeking to undo what was accomplished at the end of ARK Extinction. Together with generations of heroes, you'll unite the past and the future of ARK!
That sure is the Lost Colony description.
i know that children were on the arks but…
Did children that were born on the arks have specimen implants? Or is it just the cloned children (if there are any)
Never stated, but presumably they where born with implants. As it'd be pretty easy after the first generation of survivors to A: not be tracked by the Overseer. B: not have universal translators.
If Meeka was conceived on Arat post Gen2, then it's safe to assume that yeah, they somehow grow with the survivor.
Element magic and some bullshit.
We see in the second ARK-2 trailer that the implants are merged into our skeletons, sooooooo.
Glorified Pacific Rim mech can kill the King Titan, while multiple kaiju's of the same size at once can't kill Godzilla.
Also, militaries usually fail when trying to kill or subdue Godzilla. While one man can whoop the ass of the King Titan.
By king titan i meant lore king titan ingame one HAS to be killable for gameplay sake
Also also, Godzilla himself in the Godzilla Earth canon brought the destruction and near extinction of humanity, causing them to move to a space station for generation.
The King Titan formed 'after' Corruption already killed everything for it.
I am as well.
Dude is overrated.
King titan stopped the earths rotation in a punch and is twice godzillas height
That's not the King Titan doing that.
Whatever it may be he STOPPED the EARTHS rotation
Even physically hed destroy godzilla being hes twice his height and probably 4x his weight
King titan is 800+ feet tall iirc godzillas only 426
Depends on what Godzilla.
Mv
MonsterVerse is one of the weakest versions, my man.
So, Godzilla would win is what you're saying.
We're dealing with a space faring metal that can warp reality and has a hive mind consciousness.
Realism is thrown out of the window.
As realistic as you can get really
Canonically, the King Titan took one slice from Mei's mega mek, and dipped the fuck out the fight.
The One Who Wait's/Helena flat out states that he's a coward and stays on his metaphorical throne until the voices of his generals (the base titans) call for him.
Hes still massive
How? Giga is like 40 feet tall and is smaller than his toes INGAME
Talking canonically.
And the ingame version is smaller than lore version iirc
Do we even know what the base titans look like
I can only find his size on the wiki.gg. So unless you can site a official note that states otherwise, I'm going with 266.1 meters canonically.
Yeah, the three ones we fight.
Those are his generals.
Still 744 feet
Again, give me a source. Please.
Ah
You said 226.4 meters which in feet in 744
I cant see him being UNDER 300 at all considering how TINY ark giga is compared to him
/744 feet
Ig
In-game versus canonical.
Ingame giga is larger than dossier so
Theres just so much inconsistency
Arks lore is increadibly inconsistant and contrary
Godzilla Earth is still 318 meters tall.
MV Godzilla is around 120 meters.
As well, we've seen examples 'in game' that size doesn't matter.
The best attack the KG can do is a groundpound that takes time to charge.
Helena states the "king of shadows" being only of rage and hatered, and with that being the only defining character we know of him with him running away. We can deduct he's a over confident rageful egomaniac that the moment you actually pose a threat, he dips out.
No depiction from what I recall shows Godzilla at all cowardly like this, and we see he has conductive reasoning and can think on-par to a human with strategy.
If we're sticking with MV Godzilla, he may be tiny, but the KG is still slower as he has more mass and Godzilla can just atomic breath his kneecaps until the KG falls.
We say in Godzilla 2014 how his breath can melt the throat of a MUTO, so we can assume if a giant sword can kill the KG, that a few atomic blasts to the kneecaps can go through his bones.
tl;dr, the KG is narrativly meant to lose in anyway.
Godzilla is narrativly meant to win anyway.
I forgot mv godzilla literally can never die
Sooo... I haven't watched any Godzilla movies or anything related to the monsterverse apart from Skull Island. How can an unkillable main character be interesting as a plot, when all they seem to do is wreck stuff?
in monster movies, the plot isn't important
we watch for the monster fights and special effects
the first godzilla film he wasnt the 'good guy', it was a disaster movie with godzilla being an allegory for atomic testing
Debatable.
Shin had a decent plot I actually was interested in
i saw godzilla -1 recently and loved the whole thing
still tho, the main draw is big monsters wrecking shit
Also, while modern kaiju movies are 100% just "shut up and shut off your brain" type of narrative. OG Godzilla was 100% plot driven as it was an allegory for the nuclear holocaust that was Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Which is probably why I liked Shin, because it was more of a soft remake of the first Godzilla.
Though minus one from what I heard was also a soft remake.
Oh, Minus One is amazing.
wait if godzillas breath acctualy was realistic it would chop kingtitan in half right?
like easily
his breath if it worked would be the most overpowered thing ever
lol
That's what I'm saying.
KG can die from a comically large sword powered by Element.
Pretty sure it can also die from the equivalent of the goddamn sun being blasted into it.
How the equivalent of the sun doesn't rip through Earth is a great question
Who wins the corruption or the Zerg
In GVK it literally does
ok just asking
ok thats what i was thinking thx for the answer
corruption ez
Don't fully know anything about the Zerg, so can't say much on it.
But, seemingly the Zerg are an intergalactic threat that actually fucks over multiple space faring civilizations, compared to the Corruption that's (so far) just stationed on Earth.
The Zerg seemingly is still a thing their universe, while Corruption get Thanos snapped by a bunch of hairless apes that reversed engineered their it/Element to kill itself.
Zerg. First time hearing that?
No, I know what StarCraft is. Played a small bit of it, but never got into it.
I just don't fully know their lore.
Is it a fan-fiction or a real thing in Ark
Oh, you meant you.
Ahh
Not Ark 💀
Zerg is the parasitic alien faction from StarCraft
Scroll a bit further up, and Godzilla also isn't part of ARK.
Ok, my fried brain cells thought it was Ark after seeing corruption lmao
Technically he was for a lil bit. Remember GodzilArk?
Just realized I abbreviated the King Titan to "KG"
That makes no sense.
That was a mod.
Ah, played it on a friends server when I was a lot younger and thought it was in the base game for fear evolved
Wildcard does not have the money to borrow the Godzilla IP for an event.
Yeah, makes sense thinking on it now lmao
Snail, just let WC go to a big money company who can help in investments to fix Ark 💔
They wont ever do that.
ARK is their only IP that actually makes money, and Shi-Hi is 100% the type of man to rather see both Wildcard and Snail Games crumble/defunct as companies and just transfer the IP's ownership to himself.
Just so later on he can make a new company and bring the IP back to milk it.
Yeah but the company is public, so it's not entirely his choice
Oh, would Shi not get the IP?
Probably really stupid question, but wil ARK 2 (if known) follow the planet Earth (extinciton) or the planet genesis landed. I kinda didn't get it.
any1 know whats the point why so often server crashes? i dont mean my crashes, i talking about going offline
It’s set on Arat, the planet we land on at the end of Genesis Part 2.
It'll follow the events post Gen2, which is set on the planet Arat.
thx for answering
👍
Anyone having issues unlocking the cat dossier?
ark lore is ass
elaborate pls
Tbh most video game lore is bad in one way or another
Well, now that's just not true.
Don't mind raq. This is the same man that doesn't like most art
You know chatgpt is great at summaries like that
Okay so I tried to summarise it in five sentences for you, but it doesn't get the effect across. If you haven't finished the first map yet (The Island) I'd suggest you do before learning more about the lore. When you've done that, read the explorer notes from the wiki. Yes, the lore is good, but it's best when you get to figure out the mystery of it in game
not really chatGPT need all the usermade data for it to be "useful"
given ARK itself is pretty niche despite the "star studded" cast on a show that is not even equal to the actual lore, they will mostly get random headcanons from reddit
there is already a video that summarised all that
I know that 🤣, I was being sarcastic
The guy came to discord and asked for a 5 sentence summary like he was asking chatgpt.
I know first had llms aren't amazing because I work with them. But I'm not about to answer a on discord like I am an ai
Wtf my guy is gone on ark
try watching neddy the noodles explorer stories video (fan made voiceovers and cinematics of the of first three maps notes)
then his video on the entire story of ark (two hour summarization)
id recommend listening to the latter in the bg of whatever ur doing
Along long time ago, I was privileged to watch some fan made ascension videos...I think they were on deviant art. Or maybe deep down in reddit.
Anybody got a hotlink to those videos, or know what they are?
They had good insights and tactics built into the videos.
I just wanna rewatch em. See maybe if I can gain some new insights.
Anybody know ?
dont starve but maxwell is rockwell or something
o ok
Who is the most knowledgeable intellectual here
Probably mazzy

Between RedGear and Stel.
Oh right, stel
Rockwell... and maybe Nida
I never come in here anymore because of the amount of misinformation constantly being thrown around
I hate being the 'erm actually' guy lmfao
Fair enough
I probably don't help with that. 🐟
Now now what happened to moon in ark
Lore answer: we don't know.
IRL answer: because someone thought it'd be cool to add without telling the writer.
Can I call this cutting corners
Maybe? But I think cutting corners would more imply a lazy rought.
Adding a destroyed moon obviously adds more effort, but they might've just forgor to actually bring it up with Marc Soskin, so he could write something about it.
Really hope Lost Colony will finally confirm what the hell happened to it, as it'll be likely their last chance for awhile. (since ARK-2 is set far, far away from Earth)
We're almost 8 years since the ascension was added to ASE, and in turn the destroyed moon, and from what I know we've still yet to get any definitive in-universe answer of what the hell happened.
probably just happened during the element war
Could also let them make an ark map set on the moon
Gen 1 lunar
That's not Earth's moon
With ruined lunar colonies, and fauna specifically engineered to survive on the moon
Maybe a big cave system a bit similar to aberration
Also, unless they did some weird stuff. A moon only map I could see get boring real fast.
The moon/Selene/Luna as an IRL satellite is already a boring as fuck environment. It's just a rocky desert.
The lunar was cool personally because it was a single biome on a map with completely different biomes.
If the entirety of Gen1 though was the lunar biome. That might've just been boring.
Actually, now thinking about it. They could handle it like a book-accurate version of the maze from Maze Runner.
An entire fake ecosystem underground with an artificial sky, while the surface is the normal destroyed moon.
So basically an underground ARK.
Kind of like aberration, but with a heavier emphasis on surviving in a destroyed lunar colony underground than surviving an actual wilderness
Kind of.
I imagine it'd be more like a normal ARK map like The Island/Scorched, but with a shorter world height that fliers, or by other means can go through specific PoI's that allow them to go onto the surface.
Kind of like the vents on Gen2 instead of going through the bridge to get to the space biome, but vertical.
Though also, they could instead do more of space biospheres on the surface.
I guess that'd just be an ARK without their holographic projections.
I doubt it
My personal theory is just that an asteroid struck it sometime during the long extinction event
Because NOBODY from the 23rd century brings it up
Hopefully Lost Colony will give us 'something' on it. Since it'll likely be the last chance for awhile.
I find it more likely that it happened during the element war then an asteroid of sufficient size just so happened to hit the moon.
if it was just a random meteor I doubt its important anyway.
and it being on the wrong side of earth to where lost colony is its likely won't even be mentioned.
(granted the earth does start to spin again after extinction)
Lost colony is secretly just about us traveling to the last hardware store on earth to get some duct tape to tape the moon back together
I'm goin' (yes, I'm) goin', I'm a-goin' to the
Goin' to the (hard) ware, I'm goin', really goin' to the
Goin' (hard), I'm goin' to the (hard), oh, yes, I'm goin' to the
Hardware store
Why is it called hardware if I can bend the pins on a cpu so easily?
Why is it called software, when there's nothing soft about it?
yep
So is the moon destroyed or missing ?
Lt. Colonel Pink and Sargent Floyd of Terran Federation lead an expedition to the dark side of the moon and found a radioactive element deposit. The element turned unstable during the extraction teams harvesting operation and later combusted. That's why the moon is destroyed in canon.
What the fuck are you on?
You see the moon at the end of The Island and while playing Extinction. It's destroyed and blown up.
The reasoning of why this is the case is unknown, and I don't know what fanfic Train just spat out.
||Pink Floyd.||
Uh all I know is bob spawn on island bob 200 days in
20 days in bob make gun bob shoot gun bob make iron man suit bob safe and bob escape
K
Irl element would last less than a millisecond because of how high it it would be in the periodic table
IRL Element would be an eldritch horror of how many fundamental rules it breaks of the universe.
assuming element is "alive" maybe it has some way of existing, otherwise it would just be impossible, pretty cool
It is objectively alive.
The notes have confirmed it a few times.
Oh wow
Element is a living metal.
Cool i didnt know i thought it was just a theory
/hivemind/spreads akin to plants/breaks reality.
Yeah, there's a few things that both hints and flat out confirms it.
-Rockwell hears voices in his head as he's exposed directly to liquid Element. One can argue this is just his madness, but the later points kind of heavily hint that it's actually alive.
-Corruption is Element. The relationship though of how Corruption forms is unknown to this day, but the likely theory is that it's the endstate of Element/basically a mature state of it.
The One Who Wait/Helena does flat out state that Corruption is alive, and it feels only anger towards all living things.
The King Titan acts as the physical avatar for the Corruption hivemind, and we see in the notes that the KT is an overconfident entity that thinks it's top shit until it remembers its mortal.
-During Rockwell's speech in the Antechamber on Gen2, he has his main lines you hear, but like 10+ different voice lines that plays during his speech that have nothing to do with his speech.
One involves him calling out to "Charlette" (likely his daughter) and another involves him talking to something else, and seemingly having a conversation with a second party we can't hear. (likely the Element hivemind)
There's probably some other hints I'm forgetting, but those are the main ones I remember.
It's basically a bootleg version of The Flood from Halo.
Or Imulsion from the Gears of War trilogy, if you ever played that.
Also, sorry for the message wall.
Ok i read
Thank you
We will probably get new lore content on June 2nd with the early access lost colony content.
Does corruption cause headaches?
many flavors of headaches
Rockwell’s head was split in half, so yeah, I’d assume that’d cause a headache
You could say he had an explosive headache.
my theory is that rockwell snort on that snow that’s pretty much it
omg i never knew any of this

Don't see why not
it does make you go crazy though
i dont know much abt ark lore but i wanna any1 js wanna text me a 100000000000 paragrapth essay of the ark lore?
No, read pins.
pins where?
On the top right of discord
which one should i read
Preferably both
Got a lore question for anyone who can answer: as of the events of extinction/Genesis:part 2, is it implied that Helena gave EVERYONE(in the ark systems) the ability to respawn/reincarnate, or is that simply an ability granted to The Chosen Survivor pnly
It affected everybody
Everyone. Technically playing on a server is canon
Indeed
Hi, quick question, I'm no stranger with the lore of Ark but something bugged me for a bit now, what is not canon to the lore in game ?
I know that the animated serie isn't, Bob's notes in the island also, but what about Bob tall tales or something else ?
Yeye
NeddyTheNoodle's ARK story recap, which I wrote the first third of
Bob's Tall Tales ARE kind of canon
They're stories that Bob is telling to Meeka on the ARK II planet of Arat.
While Bob IS telling Meeka those stories, the contents of the stories aren't actually what happened on the ARKs (& Earth) because Bob wasn't actually there.
I see, so yeah the notes we can find about those tales are just Bob version of the storie, even tho he was not there
Mhm!
But how can he know about all this if he wasn't here in the first place ?
I personally made a 1hr long Video that goes over it, but
The TLDR is that he probably learned it from someone else
I guess since Helena is apparently alive on Arat for unknown reason she must have tell her storie to others, and Bob was one on them
It's possible
And about the Diana situation, the fact that she is Meeka's mother ?
Was it debunked or not yet ?
Diana is Meeka's mother, yes.
But a Diana from a looong looooong time ago.
The original, probably, that lived back on Earth before the huge extinction-level event.
Because I personally think it's another Diana (from the Genesis ship)
And she had a storie with the Santiago from the Ship too
Wait cause the one on the arks isn't the original ?
Mhm, Aberration Diana is a clone. Like every other Survivor.
Aberration Diana and Aberration Santiago never hooked up, and neither of them know about Meeka's existence due to their memories being edited.
It was likely the original, non-clone Diana and Santiago who conceived Meeka back on Earth.
Yeah that make sense, that's why I think they are other version of themselves
I don't think Diana was on the Genesis-Ship.
Because Genesis Santiago never mentions her.
The Santiago from Genesis is a clone as well, Santiago's first clone. His memories had been edited as a part of the cloning process, and it's entirely possible that his recollections of both Diana and Meeka were removed.
Oh right, could make sense since I just remember she have an implant, and childs who were born by people with an implant well, can't have an implant
But that got me thinking, why the survivors on the Genesis ship had an implant, since it's not like an ark ?
The ARKs & the Genesis-Ship use a lot of the same underlying technology
Both the URE and the Federation worked on the Genesis-Ship, before the URE alone went on to create the ARKs, reusing a lot of Genesis' concepts
Which make sense yeah
This means that the Implants aren't actually ARK in origin- they actually come from the Genesis-Ship, lol
I guess it work like an ID for the ship
Even if it is technically an ID in the first place
Even in the Arks
But yeah, I guess it could make sense that Meeka may have been alive on Earth but doesn't remember anything from it but the creatures and her Father
And her mother
I talked about this in my video as well, but Meeka likely was put into Dino Discovery.
I say 'likely', but it's been all but outright confirmed.
Oh yeah i forgot it was Canon in some way lol, even Pixark and Ark park
But yeah that's possible
I don't think I can send links to this chat, but I can send the video to you in DMs if you'd like.
Would rather just share the video than painstakingly explain everything one by one lol
You can give me the title of the video, I'll look after it
"ARK 2 - The FULL Story Explained SO FAR | Bob's Tall Tales BACKSTORY - ARK Lore"
The Meeka section is @ 52:19
Yep, find it, thanks a lot
But yeah, a lot of things make more sense now, can't wait for lost colony to ruin it all lol
Nah seriously I think it will anwser a lot of questions
I'm ALSO working on an hour long Lost Colony Video lol
Like what happened to both Diana and Mey Yn
Oh ok, i'll look into your channel then
a
lot of shameless self promotion happening lol
very shameless
Person asks for detail. Gets detail. It's not stels fault tht the made the detail
watched the whole thing whil beating all of those maps makes alota sense now
Yeye
Explorer notes are a great way to tell a story but yk people are too lazy to read those and just go "free exp goes brrr"
If you want help with the story that wouldn't be me im not that good with explaining
so, lore people: i have been fiddling with a gameplay concept for a map and am trying to find a lore-friendly way to explain it. is there anything in the established lore that would conflict with the concept of a fully functional proto-ark on earth, or an ark that never launched and survived on the surface? do we know where the arks launched from, geographically?
considering the proto-arks and city, and arat prime, seem to be at least not totally overrun by element, it looks feasible, but i may be missing something in the notes somewhere
I don't recall seeing anything saying thst couldn't happen
i feel there is two ways to view it:
1 - yes its entirely feasible, it may have some signs of corruption but could certainly survive
2 - element ravished any semblance of an ark that would actually hold any potential danger to it
(and as for where they launched, basically everywhere across the globe)
If it were sealed, underground or in the sea ( which I think still exists) it would have been fine
Completely possible
Proto-ARK? Maybe. Normal ARK? Totally possible.
sealed maybe, underground and in the sea i doubt would make much of a difference
People forget, there is CANONICALLY a crashed-yet-possibly functioning ARK in the vicinity of Sanctuary.
Either the level designers were too lazy to put it in there, or the Note illustrators cooked too hard with no regard for consistency.
There's two proto arks too. Iirc desert and snow are protoarks
The Sanctuary we see as a whole isn't actually canon, but I digress
theres 3, actually
Beat me to it
What's the third?
you cant beat me at my own game, quotes are my thing lol
wait, what. this is exactly what i need to read, which notes mention it?
It's not mentioned, it's in the background of one of Diana's Logs
🤔 sneaky
Its dome is intact, which leads me to believe that it's technically still functional.
They meandered over a lot more area in the notes than the map has iirc
one day, far far in the future, i'd love to try and create canonically size accurate story maps
yeah, i dont think stuff like the ascension facility (?) is even in the area represented by the map?
Yeahh
Wasn't that in green cave?
None of the Maps are really 1:1 canonical representations with their story counterparts, but MOST of them are close enough to havr their minor inconsistencies ignored
Extinction however, it's like they didn't even try lol
That's always been my stance.
a canonically sized extinction would be so cool
A canonically accurate ext would be cool
i mean, realistically size wise its pretty accurate, its just we only get to explore 1/1000th of the ship
For the most part
I just wish there were vent hatches hidden across the surface like in the Notes
Would be epic. Do some procedural Gen for the biomes, make if heckin massive
Could make for REALLY fun PvP caves
I'm sure there is a way around that tho
screams in PGArk
I didn't say wc could figure it out 😂
I also want to see Nida's lifeless corpse splayed across some far-off meat wall in the Antechamber being converted into biomass so that @plain plover can stop saying she's alive
Nida is still alive, it's canonical
She's like the only decent person in the whole franchise
Yeah, but you can port maps into ue5 from other places 😭
sort of
Proc Gen would be annoying to port tho
actually, i will be diving into that fresh hell if i make this map, since terraforming biomes is part of the concept
between runtime (baked) virtual textures, virtual heightmaps, and runtime foliage placement, it is not totally insane
Just give me a 200sqkm wheat field
procgen is all code/techniques, results in very different level design, tech-wise, from static levels. UE just hates dynamic levels, all it's rendering optimizations and such are built around static stuff fixed at compile time
Nanostel has summoned me and will now regret it
Witness my power
He is correct in stating there canonically is a full ARK on its side directly next to Sanctuary, what he didn't mention was that it's not just in the notes, but was actually removed from the map just before Extinction released, so late in the process that it is actually still visible in the release trailer
A similar fate was suffered by the space elevator
So there is an ARK that never launched, or tried to and then fell to earth, it is not completely destroyed and does not appear to have wiped out sanctuary like the regular ark did when it fell the way it was supposed to, meaning that its decent was probably controlled enough to prevent doing that thing that they did in Avengers age of ultron.
As for proto ARK's it would be reasonable to assume that there were not only 3, in fact, we know there weren't only 3, there were at least 4. Seeing as the Farm is also a prototype ark. We do not know its fate as it was in space.
do we know anything about launch sites for other arks?
Spread out seemingly evenly across the Earth's surface, they leave similar craters as the one seen in extinction
They aren't really 'sites' persay, they were just kinda built wherever possible
Fair enough. I donf know enough of the mechanics for that
perfect
Oh and they were built from the inside out because uhhh yeah Fries forgot this
as in, self-assembling?
i imagine all the life support, growth systems, and whatnot are inside the megastructures around the outside?
We really dunno what the pillars do but stake the ground for the ARK to rest in as a part of the Reseed Protocol
All the dino and Survivor clones are held within the deepest part of the ARK
And the Overseer Arena is very predominantly on top of one of the pillars
well, presumably there is still some systems within the other pillars, as new survivors are made on Aberration even after the Overseer's pillar is destroyed
are they, canonically? not just people entering from other arks?
aye, the grad students were fresh people after the original survivors
Grad Students, they rhyme with Grug
and do we know anything about how intelligent or autonomous an overseer is?
it kind of feels like they deviate from the original plan
I'd explain if I wasn't on the clock
They can't be too smart right
all i know is there intelligence went way up in ascended, cause they are no longer giving me medium crop plot blueprints and compass blueprints
plant species Y seed blueprint RIP
@snow seal, I wonder- will we be getting those Explorer Note fixes with UE5?
Once we get those implimented, I'm 100% willing to make another extensive list, since I'm always on the lookout for narrative errors in ARK.
Man, lore accurate Extinction would go hard.
Also, if I recall. The wasteland would basically just be absolutely filled with Element nodes.
I mean it kinda is
So about proto arcs how many of them were made
My guess, one per biome
At least 3.
There likely aren't many Proto-ARKs outside of Sanctuary, as Sanctuary was pretty much the initial ARK testing grounds.
Wait, but isn't Arat Prime where the ARK's were invented. 🐟
No.
We are EXPLICITLY told and SHOWN otherwise.
The Lost Colony teaser is blatantly incorrect.
Okay, honest question.
Do you think that was just a fuck up/slip up on their part. Or they'll actually retcon what was established?
100% retcon which completely destroys Sanctuary
Wait, so what the fuck is the entire point of Extinction, outside of just killing the KT and bringing the ARK's back home?
What happens to the narrative symbolism that the location we kill the KT in, and bring back the ARK's, is the same place they were initially invented in?
Also, I think that just adds more questions then answers.
Wasn't the entire point of killing the KT, is to lower the Corruption, so the ARK's could come home?
How does that work now?
Because, if it was localized, and it was just 'that' terminal that couldn't be used until the 'local' investation was dealt with. Why didn't Helena-and-gang just go to Arat Prime and activate the ARK's from there, where it seemingly has less Corruption, and no titans?
Unless the only control center for the ARK's was in Sanctuary.
Which, would be a comical oversite by the Federation, if they apparently originally made the ARK's at Arat Prime.
You'd think that Arat Prime would then have a control center.
Uhhh
In short, Lost Colony will create yet another lore paradox where the devs are going against the original story
we need a second lore channel soon for ASA lore
We'll see how things actually play out when LC comes out. I don't know, maybe it was a mistake, maybe there's some weird ass lore explanation that doesn't negative Sanctuary. But if there isn't, it does feel like ASA is a whole seperate canon at this point.
That is what i mean, and y'all think i am crazy for stating the ASE notes are the original canon
Well, you are crazy. Just for different reasons.
If you can’t understand that, it’s simply a krill issue
Take me to snurch.
Sooooooo.
Like Star Wars Legends?
I think the difference there is that ASA is a bunch of minor retcons to both set up Lost Colony and maybe align with TAS, whereas with legends it would be like if they went “only the island is canon, nothing else”
Okay, but unless I'm missing something. Arat Prime being the birthplace on the ARK's negates basically the whole point of the Extinction map, outside of having the ARK control center.
Birthplace could also mean where they were first conceptualized and developed, not necessarily built.
Isn't that literally what Sanctuary was for?
I can’t actually recall if that was the exact purpose of Sanctuary.
I was under the impression it was meant to be a sort of last safe haven for humanity
That would be Sanctuary
Like that is LITERALLY, VERBATIM Sanctuary
And yes, like Arat Prime it was a bastion city. It just so happened to also be the origin point of the System, then the Proto-ARKs, before things moved onto The Farm, and finalized ARKs.
Okay, so then either A: they’re retconning stuff, unless we still got notes in extinction about sanctuary being the birthplace of the arks, or B: they’re retconning stuff just fucked up with the character description
We still have Notes about Sanctuary being the birthplace of the ARKs.
So they're likely retconning it, without changing the older Notes as per usual.
Like the King Titan wandering the wastes is a retcon. Helena Deus tells us to our face that he refuses to leave the Forbidden Zone after the tussle he had with Mei and Diana's MegaMEK.
And they still kept the Note in ASA, even though it's not correct anymore.
Fuck seven years of established lore on one of the most important maps within the IP's narrative, am I right?
Seven years…
My bones are hurting.
The ARK IP as a whole is turning 10 I believe this June. 🐟
Pretty cringe innit

It is what it is.
Stel will make something better, in time.
Probably.
Most likely.
Maybe.
I don't get why they want to push their new story like it's some kind of masterpiece though
Yeah, they put time into it I'm sure, but you don't just go change the original story
just divides communities
I don’t think they’re really pushing it as a masterpiece so much as they’re just… marketing it like a normal game. And as for changing the original story, yeah, it’s dumb, but it’s extremely common for writers to do
Yeah I have no clue what y'all are on about
They're expanding on a ten year old game
Things will get lost in translation
It pisses me off specifically, yeah, but they aren't dividing anyone or pushing some magnum opus
What even is that take, lol
Agreed, don't think it's pushing anything. More of just "shit happens."
As well like Stel said, stuff this old just gets mixed up in translation.
We can just hope they decide to course correct it before release, instead of doubling down.
Like, the biggest mistranslation in a games writing I know of is literally in Halo.
Whole "humans where Forerunners" was the original writers, Joe Staten's, intention.
But shit happened, and we instead got now that they're a seperate species from each other.
so how does taming work in lore?
knocking something unconscious and shoving food down its oesophagus doesn't exactly work irl
i mean, have you ever tried it?
with lizards, yes
they just bite me and run off
:/
clearly not doing a good job of knocking it out then
gotta watch their torpor timers
Neither does most stuff in ARK.
Yes, taming how you do in-game is canon.
Mei-Yin canonically knocks out her raptor to tame it.
except for Mei, who uses her god like taming abilities to tranq tame a rock drake
we dont disrecpect our queen, no sir
I'm meaning trying to push the animated series into the game which is a completely different story all together
Seriously I hate retcons just because you gotta launch a new map
I mean taming a giga while on a mount using a normal bow is plaussible in game
The dinosaurs have been genetically engineered, and commonly tamed for hundreds of years at this point
No knocking them out doesn't make sense, but yes, it works because the ARKs' creators wanted us to tame them somehow
If apperation is a corrupted ark in the lore. And all survivors are born out of DNA chambers that the arc builders made, if the ark is corrupted then so are the DNA chambers which means those horrific custom characters we all make all genetically possible
"If apperation is a corrupted ark in the lore" what does that mean?
Apperation that underground map with the big snakes
You...you mean "Aberration?"
Well, firstly. That map isn't exactly Corrupted, it's just mutated from Element exposure.
Secondly, Rockwell Prime does make fun of our physical appearance. So, yeah. I can see abnormalities being canon to some odd degree.
lol, this isn't a real explanation for that
The real explanation is just that the ARK makes Survivor bodies, and the crazy ones are hypothetically possible
There's no reason for them to though, why would you when you can just make the clone 1:1 with the original?
You meant 1:1 with Santiago?
Oh, true.
What's up with that terminal though?
Think we should take it seriously?
Hear me out
The overseer just got reeeeaaaaally bored
huh
Wasn't there an image on your discord showing off the texture of the terminal in the character creator screen, that mentions something about Santiago?
reusing assets
Okay, good. Was hoping that.
The only one's who is having fun in ark is the overseers
Nah, I am
Alright how far do you guys think Rockwell in the gen ship would get in the hell divers universe if he got a planet far from super earth and started to spread planet to planet
Depends on how he spreads, really
and what faction he is close to
What is the place from aberration ascension after you head out of aberration to earth is it earth? The island?
Feel like this is the same argument as "The Flood in 40k"
Which, in short results in a "they either get instantly annihilated in their factions embryonic stage. Or survive long enough that eventually they'd be able to destroy everything. No inbetween."
This is also I guess in the assumption Rockwell Prime could recreate Element in the Helldivers universe.
Huh?
Oh, you mean Earth
Yeah, that's Earth, it just isn't actually 1:1 with Extinction
Oh, thanks
Man they should do a lore drop for the 10th anniversary
Not the 10th anniversary, but we do have my lore drop coming sometime before/with Lost Colony
Les go Can't wait
I do wonder though
How much of it will actually make it into the game
If there's one thing, and one thing only that I want
Is for the King Titan to get his scar
As per my direct request to Jeremy
Let's just say he's in the current war in the South side of the war map where nothing is around
I also feel like he can since the meat flowers in the innards have element shards inside them and element itself does reproduce
If he does get a footing on a couple planets I think the biggest thing that can be a problem for him would be illuminate technology since it's planet busters
To give him best case scenario he'll invade now since the illuminate is literally on super earth right now and he invades the southern portion of the galactic map
Is there an in-lore reason you're not able to leave the map on extinction?
If Rockwell got enough planets I feel like he would unite the system if the system is broken enough in their war
Just because his whole goal would extermination of all of them and be the god of the galaxy
He would he has access to gotchas on the gen ship
And they can produce dust
I would though see something funny like super earth giving propaganda about in the moment of clarity our former enemies see the true threat to democracy and decided to become temporary defenders of our democracy and fight this new threat head on it wanting to destroy us all
Just so they acknowledge a truce to deal with Rockwell if it got that bad except for the bugs I doubt it the humans would even be able to communicate with them anymore
Nah
The game tacks it down as some kind of Specimen Implant malfunction but
Diana and Mei-Yin leave perfectly fine
Unless of course, right after Diana's final Note on Extinction they step outta Map bounds and instantly explode
With babies being born on the arks in lore (scorched earth journals) are the babies having implants on them?
Don't think there's an official answer.
But implants are seemingly flat out infused to the human skeletal structure, via the second ARK-2 trailer.
It's just a curious question
But you're not on an ark anymore tho??
How do implants have any power anymore if we're on earth
Or am I missing something
Implants aren't tied directly to the ARKs in the sense that you like, need to have one on an ARK to begin with I guess?
How do I explain this, uhh
Your Implant works independently of the ARKs/Genesis-Ship
In fact, a Specimen Implant is used as a kind of 'key' in the ending of Extinction, where we manually activate the Reseed Protocol ourselves
So it'd be safe to say your Implant is functional whether or not you're on an ARK. The Survivors of ARK II also have Implants, so there's that.
Because they're more or less multipurpose tools, correct?
Because they also act as universal translators.
Yeppers
Also, Stel. What's your take on survivors being born with or without implants?
Dunno
Implants are used in several ways tied to the ARKs and to Earth, so
Logically the children should have them as well
Nanomachines son
Right.
I don't know, if we really want to stretch it, it isn't 'completely' illogical.
The implant looks like metal, but could be some form of organic material that can be produced by Element.
Maybe it forms akin to a snail shell?
Doubtful on the last part
Nanomachines exist in ARK, we see them used in almost every part of the Overseer fight
Oh, that's true
The Tek pillars form from nanomachines, the Overseer itself is a collection of nanomachines
So if anything, the Overseer could hypothetically track and imbue babies with Implants that grow into their adult years
Space magic
Maybe the implants are nanomachines, that create more of themselves to pass onto the embryo of a human child?
Gray-goo type shit.
What is a homodayis (that glowing ghost thing Helena turned into)
Because in theory, if they are nanomachines they could go around the humans own body.
And a single one could end up in the babies system, allowing itself to replicate and create more from the babies organic materials, without killing the host?
Homo-Deus*
Stel can explain it, if he already is typing it.
Consciousness of pure energy and light which resides in a plane of existence past our own, likely a 4th or 5th dimensional being.
Oh shit, never thought of the 4th dimension.
Isn't that hypothetically with time as the 4th part?
Are there peaks to becoming a Homodeus the neddly-nooble video about ark lore I watched said they felt like prisoners and lost some of their humanity
It had many
Some people used it as a way to escape the dying Earth
Others used it not only to escape, but to also oversee the ARKs
It also pretty much turns you into a cosmic supercomputer beyond human comprehension
Aw
It's implied that many thought it was essentially godhood, when it wasn't
And Helena transferred her homodeus into h.e.l.n.a?
HLN-A is a separate entity from Helena.
Helena made HLN-A with fragments of her personality.
Stel, I have to ask.
If Helena is able to just become a normal homo-sapien again in ARK-2. Wouldn't that negate the whole point of becoming a homo-deus is more of a nightmare then it's worth?
Why didn't anyone else just become a homo-sapien again, if it wasn't worth it to some?
In the same way that Santiago's sacrifice becomes a bit less meaningful due to him recieving his memories, yes
But we're gonna Homo-Deus X Machina our way into ARK II anyways
Man, we love making previous narratives pointless.
Not pointless, just dampened slightly
Does it slightly dampen it?
Could just be me, but I always thought that Helena becoming a Homo-Deus was the needed unwilling sacrifice humanity needed.
Her becoming one was necessary for us, The Survivor, to eventually be born from everyone's mistakes and learn from them to be able to restore our home.
Helena didn't volunteer to become one. But without it, we wouldn't get The One Who Tries Again, that acted as the spiritual successor to every previous note survivor.
I sorta wanna see the Santiago clones (Genesis and aberration) meeting each other. I know it's a pipe dream due to og Santiago dying on Extinction to start to fight the titan
To me, it showed that for Earth to be saved, one last sacrifice was needed.
A new young Homo-Deus that can be better then the people who came before her (URE/Federation) while needing also a successor to herself.
Technically, they're both dead.
How did Genesis Santiago die?
Bomber-man.
But aren't they clones from the gen 2 ship like our characters?
SUICIDE BOMBER GRAHHH
"Lamp oil, ropes, BOMBS!?!"
What are you referring to?
"You want it? It's yours my friend! As long as you have enough rupees"
What I mean to say is that Implants just work independently of everything else. They might interface with the ARKs, Genesis-Ship, etc, but they aren't dependent on them.
So will ark 2 sangtiago have all his memories regardless of ark and Corporation meddling
Good question actually
I see no reason for the URE to keep his memories altered for his respawn onto Arat
But I also see no reason for them to give them to him either
Think the ARK-2 Santiago is a direct clone of the Gen2 Santiago.
But yeah, don't know if he'll have modified memories or not. Since he was being tortured for god-knows-how-long, repeating his own death because "what's-her-name" wanted to know "what's-his-names" last words he said to Santiago.
Our characters on gen 2 are clones on the ship, right?
And we have implants
Wait, I just realized something.
So...Arat Prime is now seemingly a URE created city, right?
While they don't even though they're from the ship too
Every clone on the Genesis-Ship has an Implant
Gabriel, a revived colonist, is described to have had one
And at the end of gen 2, the clones were released into arat prime(that's what the planet is right?)
No
It's just "Arat"
Ah
Arat is the planet.
Arat-Prime is the launch site of the Genesis-ship
*Supposed, launch site
Well, now a fucking URE city.
A bastion city to the opposite (frozen) side of the Earth to Sanctuary
Arat Prime is still a Federation city, huh
Also don't we see a skeleton w an implant in the ark 2 trailer
Is it?
Might've mixed something up in my shitty memories.
Either way, it is now the new birthplace of the ARK's.
I love the fact that the anatomy we see the skeleton exhibiting is physically impossible, because if you had a band wrapped around your arm like that, you wouldn't be able to physically turn it at all
Yeah, the implant is infused with the two arm forearm bones.
The funny thing is, I was in a voice call with friends when that trailer first dropped. And almost everyone pointed that out the moment we realized the implant is 'part' of the arm.
Nanomachines, son
They're really kind nanomachines for moving out of the way when we twist our forearm.
In a game where a bug the size of a trex(which isint a trex at all) exists and that's what you're worried about
Wait, also. If they're nanomachines, does that mean if/when the host dies, the machines also die?
We threw logic out the window in 2016 gang
I mean, Implants clearly de-activate upon death
I mean the implant sprite looks diff when you get it off your corpse
No more glow
Holy shit I'm responsible for so many deaths-
Fair, but that could mean the life signals of the host is gone, not the machines themselves.
Maybe they live off of the host somehow? Like an organ?
The ARK's also have finite resources, and nanomachines constantly making organic matter into inorganic matter for them to construct more machines would dwindle the ecosystem.
Uuuuunless clones skeletons decompose faster then normal, and that allows those nanomachines to seep into the ground, and somehow make their way back to a human host?
Either by entering into animals that commonly are consumed, or into the drinking water?
@mental basin Thoughts on how the nanomachines don't accidently gray-goo entire ARK's?
Huh
Or maybe they deactivate upon the hosts death, get absorbed into the arks and put into clones when they respawn
Both explain the lack of glow
Also I've only really seen that on regular implants
After they 'change' after you beat a map they just stay like that
Homo Deus memories(is that what they're called?) are more understandable
Pretty sure the ascension implants are just a cosmetic gameplay reward.
Rockwell nor Helena from what I recall make any mention of their implants changing on Scorched.
Oh
Anyways
Cool dinosaur fact
The rexes on the arks aren't rexes at all, they're a different sub-species called Tyrannosaurus Dominum
Helena just got sick of correcting people who got it wrong so she started calling them rexes herself
Average dinosaur nerd behaviour ong
Correct, and so are raptors.
Fairly sure those are still utahraptors
They're "utahraptor primes" which isn't a real species.
I mean none of the ark species are real
Actually, some are.
Kentro's for instance.
Oh
Yeah I wouldn't know
Never tamed one to look at the dossier
There's a handful of creatures in ARK that are real species.
Ik but the raptors are still raptors
The 'rexes' aren't
Because you finally realize all the creatures are genetically engineered and modified by their respective overseers.
Gee golly how could I have possibly known, could it be that I've read almost every dossier except a select few and know?
@bold dove how bad would just clusters of element astroids existing in the helldiver's universe would be from Gen two the shards and the dust biomes
On its own? Probably not that bad.
Stel can correct me, but I believe Element on its own takes a pretty long time to grow. And it mostly is just crystals in its normal state.
Buuuuuut, if let's say, Super Earth were to use Element for a new technological leap to fight against all three factions, and start having dedicated planets to refine it, and as battlefields. Then Corruption would form, and likely infect members from all four factions.
ARK-1's events was only really just on Earth and her orbit (outside of Genesis) so if we can see Earth being a post-apocalyptic hellscape with titans roaming, due to Corruption. Then I could see, in time, Super Earth accidently spreading Element/Corruption to multiple planets and causing multiple extinction level events.
You think any of the factions would do what Rockwell did with it?
Automations would likely use Element for a new fuel source, as well with Super Earth using it to gain an advantage against everyone else.
Bugs are bugs.
Illuminates are the only ones I can think of that would go out of their way to genetically modify humans with Element, just to see what it does.
I see the bugs using like how the creatures on extinction dealt with it evolve with it becoming apart of them
Since they evolve helldiver's 2
Like the mana the velo snow owl and gotchas
I understand the dinosaurs on the arks but Extinction is earth. Why are there dinosaurs on earth? Like the element bringing back the engrams of the dinos because engrams last forever? I'm very confused
Proto-ARK's.
Can I get more that that?
They have the ability to create animals, like normal ARK's do.
Ah
yall how do you think the titans were truly created, the "element made them" theory doesnt make much sense to me as they should have more of it on them than they do
heres mine:
Unlike what the lore says/implies, the titans weren't created by the element, just corrupted. My theory is that the titans were real creatures which exististed within the Ark universe, they were woken up and corrupted by the element when it started its worldwide spread, and the first one it hit was the King Titan, corrupting the strongest, it then spread with his power all across the globe and corrupted all the other titans.
Now something else to point out is, the forest titan is a great example of this, in extinction and aberration, the trees there that are in contact with element are disfigured and alien in design, the forest titan on the other hand looks perfectly fine, sure hes a living tree but theres no horrible looking growths coming from him. Also the corruption when it takes over a host tends to overtake the whole body, we see this with any corrupted dino and the king titan, the dinos are fully covered in the stuff and the king titan needs to be defeated 2 whole times before his whole body is covered in the stuff as a last ditch effort for the corruption to save itself. But with how much smaller the other titans are from the king titan, after whats most likely thousands to tens of thousands of years, they should also be fully covered but theyre not. And when tamed they have a mind of their own, they can behave how you want them to without you having to ride them directly, they have a conciousness which means that they are not corrupted fully enough to where they would just be made of mostly element with an outer shell that seems natural.
Also if the element was just able to make titans like how its implied, why wouldn't it make a hundread king titans. The king titan seems to have a crocodilian tail, so its porbbably a mutated crocodilian. If the corruption can just make titans, it should be able to make like a hundread king titans to destroy everything, but it doesn't.
It's not a theory, it's been confirmed.
wait it has?
when?
who confirmed it?
The One Who Waits flat out states that the Titans where formed by Corruption. Which is Element.
yes but wouldnt they have more corruption on them
also how would they have a conciousness and a will of their own once tamed
In theory, yes.
There's no explanation of why they look like animals, or a non-copyrighted version of Groot outside of Wildcard wanting that to be their designs.
Also, they don't.
Once you disconnect them from the hivemind, they still need to serve something. Which in turn, is the player.
i mean like
wouldnt you be able to do the same to the king titan
assuming you destroy enough element
Don't believe it's explained. But I assume it's because the three base Titans act as generals for the KT. Their only existence is to serve.
While the KT itself is more of a physical manifestation of the Corruption itself. Acting as its avatar.
i mean at this point to me either the corruption can mutate and make new animals without fully covering their body
or
they are actual ancient monsters that existed like millions of years ago since exinction was released around the same time as godzilla king of the monsters so cashing in the godzilla hype
The Titans are formed from thin air, just saying.
oh yea fair
@mental basin if he has the time can correct me, if I'm wrong.
-Why can we tame titans?
-What are titans?
-Why do they look like just weird animals instead of Corruption?
These are the questions.
It doesn't really make sense for us to be able to tame the Titans, considering how closely tied they are to the Corruption, but uhh
The Titans are Kaijus formed of (according to Marc) entirely of Element. I don't remember/haven't thought to deeply as to whether or not they're formed of raw or Corrupted Element, but they're Elemental beings nevertheless.
Same answer as the last question, they're exotic creatures born from Element. Element is infinitely adaptive, which is likely why they corrospond so deeply to their respective biomes- Forest Titan being a wooden behemoth, Ice Titan being a giant furry thing, etc
desert titan being a giany flying manta ray
Mhm, it looks like that because it evolved to ride off of the desert's heat waves.
element makes soo much sense
giant ice monkey is peak evolution for the ice biome
Would that mean an ocean Titan, would experience crabification?
wait a minute
megapithicus
That one makes somewhat sense, since the Ice Proto-ARK has a bit more cliffs then normal. So a form to grab onto them would be best.
Probably. dunno
That legally-distinct Ghost Leviathan from Slopquatica may also be a Titan
not big enough but yea
Yeah, but that isn't canon.
fym not big enough
May I introduce you to the concept of lesser Titans
so
ark bosses like dragon, broodmother etc
Really wished we got some tamable lesser Titans on Extinction.
(they make sense to me to be lesser titans ngl)
Those are 'Guardians', not Titans
No, they where like Titans we see on Ext, but just smaller/the size of the normal Mek.
ik but like they just fit into the category as they are very mystical
And from what I recall, came in more mass hordes then the three generals we see.
ngl i wish we got more of extinction, like more titans
Titans in the context of ARK are specifically Element/Corruption made.
Lesser Titans are something which exists in-canon but not in-game
Pretty much just random amalgamations of Corruption that aren't really distinct or powerful enough to be considered Lieutenant Titans
But they sure as Hell aren't dinosaurs
Wasn't some depictions of them being giant roided up humanoids?
They actually don't, Guardians are intended as tests aboard the ARKs
Titans are something completely different
i mean the king titans is very reminiscent of a trex, crocodile, and human in terms of his looks
They all kinda look like mini-King Titans in a way, which is to say yes
But they ALL look like that, probably just an artists' interpertation
King Titan is a glorified non-copyright infringed version of Godzilla.
ik im just saying that if you just made them actual enemies in extinction with like a little corruption they could very easily fit the category of a "lesser titan"
you dont say, all hes missing is a beam attack
I assume artistical limitations.
No reason why lesser Titan's can't have adaptation rules the other ones have.
They're still made out of Element, which is highly adaptable.
Not really but alright
That's not at all what a Titan means in ARK.
ig, im a big godzilla fan anything thats a large semi-mystical animal can count as a kaiju/titan to me
Like Stel said, the monsters on the ARK's are Guardians.
From what I know, they have little to no Element connections, outside of likely being made from Tek devices.
They're titanic in their size, yes. But "Titan's" in the context of ARK are specifically a race of Corruption/Element created monstrosities that are connected to the hivemind.
alr then
What did Helena call the seekers again
Also what exactly is charge
And one final question
Did aberration continue to try spawning creatures on the surface? (Like imagine the ark spawning a regular parasaur on the surface during the day but it immediately bursts into flames)
Flying squid bat murder monsters
Bioelectric charge
We dunno
I would disagree since the time it isn't burning we would see dinos other than reapers up there
Well, now there's Fasilo's up there
If the earth stopped rotating due to the element, how does it still have regular gravity or an atmosphere??
to add, there would be cyclones, tsunamis and earthquakes left and right
Those events have already subsided because earths been tidally locked for a while
I’m pretty sure gravity is determined by mass so gravity would stay the same
Also I believe it’s said that the proto arks are constantly repairing the atmosphere
i have no idea what tidally locked means ;-;
Basically one side of the earth is always facing the sun
yeah thats what i meant by the earth not spinning]
But yes if the earth suddenly stopped rotating major catastrophes would occur but they would subside overtime
Hence why there isn’t much shit going on in extinction
all that still doesnt explain why earth has an atmosphere, which should theoretically not exist
I think it’s said somewhere that the proto arks are constantly repairing the atmosphere
oh
???
if earth stopped rotating, gravity would (essentially) stop too, which in turn prevents the air particles from being pulled into the earth, which brings us back to square one
It wouldn’t
Gravity is determined by mass
And radius
Not speed
theres smth im missing here
arent meteor showers as common as rain over there?
also that clears my gravity doubt
Oh yeah that too
Might have to ask a nerdier lore nerd on that one
Someone might have to correct me on this but I think the king titan summons them or whatever
oh
Can't have tsunamis when there's no oceans left.
For context, Earth is spinning.
Tidally locked is just when the rotation is slowed down just enough, where one side will perpetually face the star it's orbiting around.
For example, the Moon does rotate, it just rotates at such a slow rate that the same side of it is always facing Earth. Making it tidally locked.
The ARKs upkeep the atmosphere.
As stated by Helena in one of her early Extinction Notes.
@bold dove you think the master chief would be able to survive the Genesis ship and kill Rockwell or you think there's just simply too much for him to deal with?
With the lack of ammo on the ship for him to plunder
My man, if a glorified human with immortality, and almost no other special traits outside of "big smart" due to the engramic matrix can kill Rockwell. I'm pretty sure a genetically modified super soldier that has already dealt with a species like Rockwell Prime's totally-not-offbrand version of The Flood, and completely wiped them out (seemingly).
This is the same spartan that CANONICALLY, In a fucking BOOK, parried a scorpion tanks rocket shot.
He also ate a tank shot point blank, and it just reduced his shields. (likely would've killed him if he was shot again)
As well, we've seen through multiple media pieces that Spartans 2's excel at not just firearms, but close range melee.
Brutes are known to be physically stronger then any Spartan generation, but Spartan 2's are fast and agile enough to dodge the Brutes slow attacks.
Also, if we're allowing to utilize full canon potential.
Chief specifically has, and I'm not kidding, luck on his side.
Throughout the games and books, he's been through multiple situations that other Spartan 2's would likely had died during. But, Chief usually gets out of these situations by sheer random coincidence.
What about a giga and he would have to do the gen missions like the survivor and I would say the survivor has super human strength with melee bobs existing in the game with the weight stat too and the Tek suit has things that are just objectively better than what the chief has like the speed
Also, tek weaponry is fueled by Element. And there's plenty of Element on the ship.
He was able to learn Forerunner technology pretty quickly, so he'd have no issues figuring out what are basically prototype-Forerunners.
The mutated giga with it puking acid would be an issue
Not to mention the acid in the Proliferation and the not abilities of the Tek suit he would have
Also unlike the survivor he wouldn't be immortal though
Also doesn't Rockwell's Proliferation disable the Tek suit too
Fall of Reach mentions he's able to jump around 11 feet.
It isn't flying, but if the terrain is right enough, he can just quickly jump from point to point.
Also, most of the missions are set in the simulation, which would presumably, if he has HLN-A's protection, would have no real consequence in the real world if he died in them.
No. But the flying ass micro-summoner things do.
But they're really easy to just not get spotted.
The goo from the tentacles disable the Tek chest plate and he wouldn't know anything about this place like the survivor did
And slow you down
Also what about reapers
And noglins
They still mind control people with Tek on
Arguably, The Survivor would've had a lack of knowledge as well from the start, since the tentacles are completely different mechanically then the ones they've prevously faced.
What about if he didn't have hlna though?
Okay, Blar. Roll quick let me give you a crazy fact.
Then what's the point of this convo?
Because he's taking the Survivor's position narrativly in this case, I assumed.

It's shown in his notes Rockwell was fully made just without the corrupted humans
Going to end this convo, with the fact that titanium can take up to 30,000 psi to 200,000 psi to crush.
And Master Chief has on multiple accounts, and shown in-game during the ending of Halo 3, punching through vehicles with titanium.
Without question yeah
Because there IS ammo all over the Ship
Like, everywhere
this prob sounds stupid, but if abberation's dome was destroyed bc the gang blew up the command center, why doesnt the vaccum expand into the caverns?
- Artificial gravity is still intact
- Tek is magical science
Same logic goes to earth, there is no Artificial dome that keeps us floating into space
yeah but earth has sufficient gravitation to hold it's atmosphere together
an ark if a chunk of land as big as like a country max
its not even sphereical
Again Tek goes beyond what is physically possible, logic be damned
Nerd
but there isint any barrier or anything seperating the caverns from the endless abyss of space
also this took place AFTER the overseer was blown up by santiago & co
abberation didnt have one till old eddy got high on element and turned into squiward from temu
This might be a stupid question (it most definitely is) but is the sun you see on the arks real or artificial?
Incorrect.
The Overseer never respawned. The entire point is that it was destroyed.
Reapers also already existed, supposedly. Before the Overseer was destroyed.
Wait, I'm dumb. Where is that stated?
Are you being serious
No, I genuinely don't know where it's implied they existed before the Overseer was destroyed.
I know they existed while Rockwell was still human, and that he never made them. And they're a natural byproduct from the ARK itself, and not mutated animals.
Chat with ark 2 being on Arat (the new planet), perhaps we get a spin off game set on earth post lost colony? Or a dlc for ark 2 maybe
The gang got attacked by reapers whilst exploring the caverns, no?
Nevermind, that was after they blew up the Overseer. I don't see any reason why they couldn't have existed before though
Is it possible that the launch sequence for the genesis ship actually failed and Mei initiated it somehow upon arriving to Arat Prime? Trying to figure out if it is actually possible for them to line up all the incoming lost colony lore with no retcons.
Unless they change a lot of stuff in the gen dlc as well, prob not
Since if that was the case, we would definitely know about the vampire ppl in gen 2, and all the genesis ship crew were killed by rockwell, not those guys
No, the ship has been in space as long as the ARK's have been in Earth's orbit.
Cant wait to get mei yin out of her tek sleeping pod in lost colony to fight corrupted vampire diana and rockwell
Tragic Yuri with David Tennant in the background
Mei yin crying and sobbing over diana's dead body, while he slowly crawls his way into the superluminal link in the background XD
There HAS to be a fanfic of this
The doctor saves the ark simulation
Is it gonna be free for evolved?
Oh wait it’s not even gonna come to evolved
Just ascended for 15 like the other map
I heard someone say it would cost as much as tall tale but idk just hearsay
It is $30
Gonna be quite the dlc
30$
Hoping the quality will be out of this world. And it isn't just both the US inflation, and their debt taking its toll.
Why didn’t Mei yin and Diana kill the king titan with console commands? Are they stupid?
Bruh XD
damn
How is that any different?
Is that's 50$ AUD, isn't that then worth 30$ USD?
That's how different economy works, is it not?
Yeah, I s’pose you’re right; just feels like a more hefty investment to know you’re spending half a hundred on a dlc lol
I think it was $30 for gen1+2 back in the day, whereas now it’s just the one map
But a (used to be) Triple-A game was like 93$ AUD.
Which is only 60$ USD.
Now the (sadly) average price is going to be 80$ USD.
Which is....124.79$ AUD.
Now, that's a lot.
Right; and tack lost colony, btt, fantastic tames and any premium mods of your choice, and it really just feels like a cash grab
Right. But we can hope the quality will be around on-part to both of those maps content on one large map.
Hopefully
Well, yeah. That's why I don't support the Fantastic Tames.
Starting to get the same feeling I did when I paid for ffxiv every month; but at least that game had years worth of content, fast and consistent support, very few bugs/glitches and I felt somewhat justified in paying for it month after month
With Ark, the prevalent problems from the previous game give me just as much grief as they used to, along with new ones in the mix
And then they release new maps and content with so many issues that the next month or two is spent just getting it working properly, with issues from previous maps remaining unresolved
I love this game, but it really does feel like a cash grab sometimes lol
That darn Tesla knockoff, I tell you
They paid that off, I'm pretty sure.
It's just a culmination of so much other shit.
Too much poor management for far too long now
Enter for learn more lore
...Where was that even officially stated?
Fair.
Fairly sure the entire reason for why Aquatica is on ASE only right now, is because someone higher-up at Wildcard flat out refuses this abomination to touch ASA.
On the earliest promotional material for Aquatica, it showed it was going to release on next-gen platforms. Which is a bit weird, since ASE, even if it 'can' run on next-gen hardware, is a last-gen game.
And I can kind of see Wildcard coming to the compromise of allowing Snail to fuck with ASE. Since it's more or less abandonware.
Given that they publicly denounced Aquatica before it was even announced I would say that's fairly likely
I hope wildcard makes an actual aquatic map at some point just to spite snail.
Questionable question but what's the name of the female character like the male characters name is Bob so what's the name of the female character
Bobette, but I believe Jen as well.
Should be noted that, at least from what I recall. The Survivor (us) are a separate character from Bob.
Jane, sorry. Not "Jen"
Jane, & she's probably going to make an appearance in The Animated Series at some point.
Wonder if she’ll get the bob treatment
Probably not
You guys think Nerva and Mei yin will both be vampires?
If they are, this series is beyond saving
my interest is already lost when TAS is not in line with the original lore and it's gonna be shove in to Lost Colony anyway so fck it
if Mei in LC doesnt have an army of tames or at least tame something then she ain't the real Mei that we knew in Ext
After reading the notes for years, I can’t tell you how disappointed I am that they started changing the story
They had a really easy job, and they squandered an amazing plot. It felt like they took a really easy idea , but they made it feel all weird. Mei yin should have never slept with Helena, it’s gonna completely ruin the aberration story now
All that voice talent on the original story would have made them Oscar nominees
i'm fine with a different story than a direct 1:1 retelling of what we already had
If they want a different story then don't use already established characters that gave it higher expectations in future content looking forward
If TAS is all about bob doing bob things then it is fine but reducing what made helena, mei and other characters in the OG lore unique kinda makes TAS looked like an amateur fan fic
I mean look at Rockwell
I don't see this guy caring about his child after leaving a newly born infant to die in SE, like it's beyond redemption even with Charlotte shoved in just to make us "feel bad" for him
yawn tas bad media literacy something something
ROCKWELL will come back
With an ARMY
OF 72 nerva vampires
And 67 IMAMU zombies
he will come back with unlimited plot armor because "we make that Hollywood VA budget count"
It's taken my interest away from the game entirely for some reason
It’s always “What is ark lore?” Never “how is ark lore?”
well how is the lore
Friend: "Ark lore is cool what do you know about it?"
Me: "Ark... Lore? Thought arks lore was just Dino roar the end"
Friend: Proceeds to VERY passionately info dump all of ark lore that he knows for over an hour (nearly 2hrs)
Me: "Hmmmm that's cool.... I have a question tho"
Friend: "yeah?"
Me: "Why didn't any dinos Roar during any of it... kinda pointless without the big roars..."
Friend: silence
He clearly did not vividly describe the fight scenes including dinosaurs
Bro has his priROARities in order 💀
There was A LOT of dino roaring
Just to clarify, Santiago originally died in the Tek War. Then was cloned to help with the Genesis & Ark Programs, his clone then gets blown the hell up.
Then, aberration Santiago doesn't have his clone's memories and only knows about the war
Ark 2 Santiago Remembers his Clone's life but not Aberration Santiago's life because they aren't connected.
Is that correct? I need a refresher
Pretty much, but more evidence is starting to point towards ARK II Santiago having his memories of both the ARKs and Earth
Interesting
And then Helena will have helena deus memories, Meeka gonna get rockwell memories somehow, and then diana reincarnates, and then mei yin shows up
I'm gonna love ark 2
