there is 0% chance of it being 70 feet.
giga is about 16 meters so 14.5 meters for its height. about 47.5 feet.
Idk I think the in game rex almost sounds fairly accurately sized lol. Maybe a couple feet larger
Still means the giga is a Spielberg monster tho
its 10 feet too tall going by the 12-20 figure
Just a healthy rex is all. Lol. I mean they have an endlessly spawning food supply
They also hang out in the snow so. There's that.
We can only go so deep cause realistically most of those existed at time when the planets atmosphere was %30 oxygen vs our %15ish now. They would be hallucinating and stumbling around drunk 24/7
Either that or all the survivors have oxygen poisoning
that was much much before rexes.
or maybe not. everything is giving a different answer
Cretaceous period..it was around %30
They could potentially adjust. People do. We can go live on a mountain top if you can power through. Helena was there a long time ago so we can assume they had some time to adapt
They would shrink though. Lol
also, thats not how non-insects work. we have lungs. more oxygen doesn't make us bigger like they do
Just cheese lore it and say the implant adjusts your oxygen. Idk lol. The arks came from future earth tho so if anything they probably had less oxygen when the arks launched
insects get bigger because they breathe through their exo-skeleton. more surface area, more oxygen.
our lungs don't do that.
Their lungs still need the oxygen to carry through their blood to function. It would be like a human at the top of a high mountain where there is less air
they were just designed to be that big. its already been stated lol
I'm just saying it's not very feasible that's why the biggest land animal now is an elephant
elephants are megafuana from an ice age. thats why its so big.
there were lots of bigger stuff around when they were evolving
Yeah all the big stuff died off lol
because they evolved for the cold. not because of oxygen levels
the reason why dinosaurs (or the things living at that time) stopped being huge was because of the extinction event. only smaller things survived and they never went back except for mega fuana during ice ages which would then die out when the ice age ended.
The extinction event is what lowered the oxygen levels aswell though so I'm sure it played a part. Having more oxygen in your blood would still allow larger animals to function better. It takes a lot of energy to move when your 50 ft tall I'm sure. Lol
there are lots of factors. oxygen isn't as big as you'd think. or else blue whales wouldn't be the biggest animal.
a big animal requires lots of food. big animals can't hunt as good when nothing else is big.
whales are big because they are filter feeders. they eat large schools of fish
well plankton or whatever
large amounts of sea-life.
size also requires some kind of selection pressure to happen.
ice age megafuana happens because larger animals don't have to worry about the cold as much. it allows them to heat themselves easier.
Yeah that's true. I feel like ocean life gets bigger partially just due to more space aswell. Like iguanas. They grow to match their environment. Imagine keeping a t Rex in your house an die just caps out at like 6 ft lol
And it*
there are tons of cool factors that you'd almost never think of
like buoyancy helping them not be crushed by gravity. or the deep sea pressure actually helping.
Tend to forget that this is also a video game where "realism" gets stale real fast
I mean look at the spino, it still stuck at 2005's despite the recent discovery of the bones and behavior
Sometimes i wish i want old creatures be TLC'd before doing creature votes and paid tames
its a bit past 05, its actually quadrupedal and not the biped from jp3
spino can do both in game
almost forgot to put my daily nerd
Bad question : why are there obelisks on extinction if it’s earth
They're proto-obelisks
They created test versions of the ARK's (the proto-ARK's) on Earth before (I believe) moving that concept to The Farm, the first ARK in orbit, then finally mass producing the ARK's.
soo in ark in the lore in the final mei-yin betrays helena but why?
She never does that.
This doesn't happen, lol?
Do you mean on The Island, when she punched Helena in the face?
Bro watching some lore video from Wish XD
i recommend NeddyTheNoodle's videos too
so were the arks meant to bed themselves in the new planet if a new one was found?
The main arks that were made in collaboration by both superpowers at the time were meant to stay above earth waiting for it to get to a point where they could return and repopulate the earth with the arks population, WHILE what you're thinking of is the genesis rings which were made for the goal of finding a habitable planet and then populating it. The arks were made in collaboration between two nations (the URE and the trade fed), while the genesis rings were made by the trade federation alone
The genesis rings are supposed to continue to the story of the Lost Colony update when it releases, end of this year or next year i believe
Oh ok thank you that’s very interesting I love the lore of ark.
No problem, me too there's a lore page you can find most info on the ARKs(just look up ASE lore wiki), there's also a 2 hr long video that some guy made pretty much explaining the island all the way to the genesis rings which made me wanna learn more personally, not sure if I can link it here tho
Ok I’ll try look that up
They gave the spino a tlc update when new things were discovered. They added the ability for it to switch between 2 legs and 4 legs and some other stuff. The dinos in game aren't intended to be 1 to 1 matches of their real life counterparts. Gigas weren't the size of a skyscraper and even the Rex is quite large relative to a real one. Accuracy isn't the name of the game. These are jurassic park Spielberg monsters made through genetic fuckery.
true
Not really lore but you can get realistic dinos from mods, definitely agree with you though, it's just a matter of you're either limited by reality or not and they chose not to be, which I personally think is best for gaming with non historical/real life based games. Which by Element being what it is we know it's not that😂 I'm glad to be fair
servers back up huh lol
just watched that vid this morning really good
Why does genesis happen after extinction . Does the ark receeding thing take along time
The entire events of Genesis are spurred by Rockwell teleporting onto the colony ship, so for the events to happen Rockwell needs to get to earth, get to Arat prime, and use the teleporter there, and we see from the post credits scene of extinction that he does get to earth.
Therefore, Genesis must happen post extinction
No, everything is good on Earth.
Genesis just happens to finish of Rockwell's storyline.
Oh thanks
fellas what's the lore behind us not being able to play
Lots of Arks suffering and failing due to problems maintaining them. And the drain of the players respawning. (a Ext One Who Waits Note, I think in the Forest Cave)
Considering the end scene in ASA for Ext, I'm rather glad unlike ASE I did _not_build in the city. When the Island lands? Ouch.
A rogue piece of the moon has crashed onto your ARK and now all of your tames are dead
bet
G a m e p l a y
Lore lore and more epic gamer lore
It's a rather old method an ancient one from the year 2025 its called DDOS
They will probably expand the story of Rockwell in Lost colony.
Seems strange to me you don’t want to “conquer” Earth again and just change to the cosmos conquering strategy.
That's really simple, my man.
Yeah we probably defeat him and it’s forced to scape to Genesis ship. Most likely
He's not going to fuck with millions of people with industrial tier shit, when he got his ass kicked in by at the max 10 people, at minimal one back on Aberration.
He's dealing with genetically modified freaks.
To be fair those millions of people haven’t even defeated Broodmother
How do you know? There's no evidence of that.
And that isn't the point.
It’s not the point, but if you cannot defeat Broodmother what makes you think you can defeat Rockwell.
- I would assume so by seeing people disembark from the Island Ark
I kind of have a weird hunch that Rockwell will be an overlooming threat, but not be the direct confrontation to us.
Rockwell logistically wouldn't have enough time to actually be a boss for us since the ARK's are still an active threat to him.
So what would be the final boss? Titans are wiped out, only thing I can think of is a self-conscious malfunctioning Mek that went rogue after many years protecting the launch site
Doesn't have to be a Mek. But some form of automation Arat Prime has, yes.
Possibly some defensive measure against Corruption that Rockwell fucks with to attack us to delay our arrival.
Said a mek because English is no native to me, and saying a machine sounded strange.
Machine would've been appropriate.
They are machines.
Well yeah, but a washing machine and a Mek are both machines, so it’s better to narrow the posibility of fighting against Washinator >.<
Context is what matters.
We're talking about ARK stuff, and so I know what you'd mean if you said "machines"
Anyway
What do you think we can expect in terms of fauna?
Only tek fauna? Seems too cold for anything to survive

Maybe no fauna or just partly fauna that thrawned out of the ice that covered it maybe even ingredient for some sort of clothibg set that protects against the thermic cold there is or even medicine
I wanna see a new variant thermic variants that evolved to survive that cold
Depends on how they'll handle the time skip
From what I remember, Gen1 is canonically four months after Ext.
So, if Lost Colony is a prequel to Gen1, that means it has been four months since the King Titan was slain.
That's also four months of the Earth slowly defrosting. So "it being too cold" wouldn't be that much of an issue, as it'd be more like a melting ice-age map.
That reminds me of ice age 2
That's what I'm thinking.
People expect Lost Colony to be a 100% frozen over map like we saw in the shot. But forget that's pre-reseed protocol and (unless they retcon it) it's been four months worth of proper rotation for the Earth.
So we'll likely get the animated notes that're 100% a frozen over wasteland. But the actual in-game map will be a mixture between melting glaciers, to actual taiga forests.
I wanna say the rotation depends on when it started
Seems to be instant. Since Helena states "the suns rising" at the end of Ext.
The only thing that was stopping it was the Corruption literally holding its grasp on the Earths core.
Yeah lets see how it will go
I'll probably eat my words. But from what it seems like, it does seem likely it'll be a multiple cold-based biome map instead of 100$ frozen over wasteland.
Personally wish8bg for a harsh cold map taht can easily kill you and even maybe a map of a few layers where dangers and co lurk
Which I prefer anyway.
I don't want a new ASE Scorched where it's just one single environment throughout an entire map.
They can still do that with glacier sections of the map.
That i could se with lets say a mix of ab where tmyou cmhave an savage surface area thats freezibgly cold and a few layers down the map gets a bit warmer
That actually could be the new border system for the map.
Something with Arat Prime is causing heat, and so it's only around that area that's melting. But the further you get away from it, the harsher it gets.
Possible i mean i could see thermic dinos or ice worms like subnautica to exist on that map that are an variant of deathworms that adapted to this harsh wasteland
Basically, Rag's Murder Snow
Yeah may that cold kill everyone no matter their fortune
why you have to be rich to survive hot and cold lmao
probably meant Fortitude
though fortune can also mean luck, doesn't have to mean money
Isnt the red pillars in ext world border cleary from lost colony even the pillars materials are the same as lost colony logo
helena walker lowk a baddie
On god ^
I made a long point about the time connection between Island and Genesis 1/2
But I don’t even remember no more
Think the time between Helena and us was no more than 8 years
I mean, if Sanctuary and Arat Prime were built similarly then it makes sense that the pillars look similar
Depends on if the URE had any influence on Arat Prime.
URE and Federation Tek seem pretty different.
I feel arat prime was more military focused
It'd be more space-faring focused. But could have some militaristic side.
We saw that even though Sanctuary is suppose to be more of a city, it also had a pretty militaristic side with the walls, forcefield, and the automations that roam the streets.
I hope TAS gives us a look at Sanctuary in its prime, when it was still inhabited and whatnot
That's the deciding factor yeah
well so i had a mistake cuz i whached a vidio about ark lore
Which video?
Does anyone know the story maps in order of which you're supposed to play?
Release date order.
The Island
Scorched
Aberration
Extinction
Lost Colony (to be released)
Gen 1-2
Arat Prime may basically be an on site ark with its own bio dome regulated environment as seen with the proto arks in extinction.
It’s just scaled big enough to launch the genesis ring . I think that’s basically all it is. Final boss might be a corrupted/ controlled mei yin, the defense systems or, some form of Rockwell hijacking the corrupted creatures or said systems.
Arat Prime is confirmed to be a launch site for the Genesis-ship, so it'd be more of a dry-dock for a really comically large ship.
Also, it's built by the Terran Federation.
Unless Wildcard is going to retcon it, the URE specifically made the ARK's while the Federation made the ship.
They're pretty distanct art style as well. As the URE Tek is more biomechanical (see the Hall-of-History for peak URE design) while the Terran Federation is more industrialist with Tek. (see their version of the obelisk spires on Gen-1 being more mechanical with no organic parts at all. As well as the Genesis ship being completely smooth metal with no growths.)
Besides a single tweet the official ARK twitter posted confirming it's Arat Prime, and the logo. We don't really have much to go off of besides this, and the little bit of lore we know of Arat Prime.
Though, the logos for their story maps have always played a theme towards the...well...'theme' of the map.
And the type of Tek the Lost Colony logo is made out of looks new.
Which either means they're adding in a third canonical Tek design, or they're redoing the Terran Federation Tek for ASA.
Hello
I have some doubts about Genesis lore. Why does a second colony of humans exist?
as a back up in case the ARKs failed and earth is truly corrupted
the arks and genesis were made by two different factions
So uhhh, how could I fit an ape creature to the Genesis 2 lore?
Gigantopithicus exist so it's fine
Also experimental giga is there as well but it's an antagonist
Nothing at all has said it was only Terran built
Even though it's classified as a Terrab Federation Colony-class starship it was made hand in hand with the URE
That said stay tuned for my 5-hour Arat Prime dissection coming to a Tube near You
See only all Terran Federation iconography stamp over the ship even the UI of the terminals with none from the URE
Like when is the last time we see the URE's emblem aside from Diana's note in Ab?
How does ark end
The ships and ark must have been worked on by both groups co-signing. You can see that with the magmasaur. They say it was originally tested for scorched earth and then later put on Gen. I've only personally seen that on YouTube lore videos tho tbh 😅. So I could be wrong.
See extinction ending... that is how the story of the ARKs end
The Ship also launched filled to the brim with Federation propoganda, which tells me that what they essentially ended up doing was a joint project where they ended up taking all the credit.
Yea I agree
i thought it was because the terrans focused on the ship while the URE focused on the arks?
Yes but they sometimes share systems to accomplish their goals
See "magmasaur in scorched earth" in one of the gen 2 notes
That was Gen1
theres no lore
Does anyone know if extinction has an overseer? Or like what spawns the dinos if not that
The obelisks.
Overseer doesn't spawn creatures in the first place.
Does it not? In the entrance to the overseers arena there is the thing for spawning creatures
Might not be relevant idk
That's the records for the organisms on the ARK. The overseer doesn't control the spawns fully though.
The obelisks are the ARK's sentinels.
Huh good to know thank ya, also what is with the lack of terminals under the obelisks in extinction
I don't think that's actually explained. But likely due to the fact they don't teleport to any guardian. So there'd be no need for one under them.
Makes sense but then again with the tek cave it dosent have any terminal but then again also no obelisk
Oops wait
I meant it does have a terminal but dosent teleport anywhere
There's a major difference between what happens in the notes, and what we see in-game.
Helena mentions that the door is 'in' the volcano cave.
While that could just be wording, it could also taken literal that the volcano cave also acts as a natural formed cave until you reach the end of it with a giant Tek door.
There's also the segment in the Hall of History that we see supply drops coming down.
Yet at no point does anyone mention beams coming out of the sky or abnormalities like that, outside of the obelisks.
Ohh yeah fair point there actually man if I have lore questions I know who to ask lol
Stel and Redgear would be better.
I'm more of a third wheel.
Fourth wheel?
Seventh?
🤷♂️
Real real lol
Reminds me I saw a defense unit aggro on an enforcer (On extinction)
Is that weird
No, if I recall the Defense Units are old AF, and that causes them to see everything as a threat. (I believe. Don't quite me on that.)
Oh ok ok good to know just was weird bc like I mean they are both yknow on the same side I guess, also man sorry for the absolute amount of questions but do you think edmundium came from space or deep in the earth?
It's confirmed years ago that it came from space.
Extinction confirmed this with The One Who Waits.
Oh shi didn’t know that hell yea
So could there be a possibility that it could be on arat
Well, yeah. Wildcard has kind of confirmed that Element is still going to play some role narratively in ARK-2.
We just don't know if it's because of the Genesis-ship, or if it's already on the planet.
That makes the plot a whole lot more interesting lol
Also since Santiago died and came back as a clone on the genesis ship is there a possibility Rockwell could do the same, idk
Depends on the ruling of the process.
Santiago came back because he's special.
We won't know until ARK-2 releases if Rockwell is also on that special list.
Lowk praying he is bc I jus love his character (and David tennant lol)
There was one theory I saw might be a bit far fetched but what if Meeka is his daughter read that in some comment section idk
Meeka is confirmed to be Santiago and Diana's daughter.
Aw damn
Also, I pray he doesn't return. Because ARK has an issue of letting go of characters instead of allowing the universe to progress and give us a new roster.
That’s true that’s true he kinda had a fitting ending then again would love to see more of him
That's where the issue lies.
He shouldn't come back "just because I'd love to see more of him"
His time is up, his run should be over. Let his character stay dead and give us someone new.
Yeah yeah fair just wonder who will be the main villain of ark 2 I suppose time will tell
The Aratai's
The grey alien dudes yeah?
Rockwell falls into the Sun
He then infects the Sun with element and becomes the Sun
The final mission of the game is Vin Diesel drifting a rex to run over the Sun
Absolute cinema ngl
If rockwell comes back it's gonna be just as bad in starwars episode 9 "somehow he returned"
They can rationalize it by pulling a Santiago, where he has a body on the Genesis ship but transferred his now non-Element induced mind into it.
But that would still feel like a cop out.
Rockwell redemption arc,?
No.
Let him stay dead.
I'd rather get a new character to replace him
That's the only way I'd want him to come back tbh is If they were gonna do something different alot of my favorite characters in fiction have a redemption arc
I don't know. The more I think about it, even having him come back for a redemption arc would be pointless.
His ending was pretty perfect in Gen2.
The man the tried to gain immortality of his fear of being alone and dead doesn't die alone.
Also, there's no redeeming some of his actions he himself willingly did.
That's why I like imperfect characters so much like punisher Darth vader red hood dexter daredevil reacher ect ect definitely not all equal in the bad shit they have done but all pretty complex tbh
i rather fighting someone else that isn't same flavor of "old man"
same reason i hate the animated series
let new characters take the spotlight instead of butchering existing ones
(in b4 oh WC said it's not canon, my counterpoint that the characters in the main menu looked like in the animated series more than in the notes and they disregard Mei x Diana's organic romance over forced ship in the "Tall Tales" DLC (where Meeka is saying it, not Bob).... i still believe it's a retcon until knowing how "well written" the lore for Lost Colony)
Bring back Nerva
Somehow rockmundium returned
No
Is the new map like the Greek one connected to the lore or no?
No, it's a community made map. The lore-story dlcs are
Island
Scorched Earth
Aberration
Extinction
Lost Colony(not released)
Genesis 1
Genesis 2
Thanks so much, so lost colony will take place between extinction and gen 1?
Wait will lost colony potentially be set on arat prime?
Why did I reply to you sorry lol
It’s ok, but what’s arat prime? I’m a bit new to ark lore
Basically from my understanding the launch site of all the arks, it’s on the dark side of the earth
Wouldn’t take that as 100% facts but as far as I’m concerned it is
I don’t really know because it’s the steps of mi yen and there’s no way she made it to the other side of earth
Yeah that’s what I was thinking but people were saying it was the link between extinction and Genesis and as far as I know you can only get to the Genesis via arat prime but idk
It's confirmed to be set on the colder side of Earth.
Which is where Arat Prime is set.
And the fact it's a "lost colony" while being set between Ext and Gen1 kind of solidifies it'll have at least 'something' to do with Arat Prime, and possibly the crashed Aberration ARK.
That is sick man I can’t wait is it only asa or ase as well?
Yes
Nah
Yup
Nah
Yeh
Nah
Yeh
Nah
Yeh
Nah
Ok let’s stop because we spamming
Guys is lost colony gonna be asa and ase or just asa 💔
Well wildcard loves money so most likely both and it will be like 99$ for each new dino
Praying for both bc my computer is too shitty to run asa (8 year old thinkpad)
ASE is completely dead dude
(dead as in Wildcard support)
IK IK man it sucks 💔💔
No more updates like ever
They've confirmed they're done with any major content updates with it.
It’s also on next gen consoles, so there’s options
Lately, in my trips within the city, I’ve started to read the tek messages with the tek helmet.
You guys think there is something that can lead to Lost colony lore?
been there since ASE, it only mentioned Arat Prime being "under construction" and that is it
So is Lost colony just like a animated show tie in ? Or are we getting a look at arat prime
no relation to the animated series as the animated series is not canon (according to WC)
We’re likely just getting animated teasers or cutscenes in it
It's loose-canon
i hope not , ive wanted to arat prime since extinction first came out
It's confirmed to be about Arat-Prime, to a degree.
As for the animations?
We're getting story sequences animated by MAPPA. Which likely is going to be how the new explorer notes work on the map. With them being animated instead of being papers.
Mappa the goats who will be working hard on it
If you only knew the pain of those animators who have to animate like 8 shows per year
Dont forget to animate stuff which wasnt seen in the original material
their latest is basically a cry for help lmao
it's not really special when comes to visual media tbh, there is a saying "the manga is better"
Indeed indeed even if managa doesnt have ass cheecks which got animated
Oh yeah the one anime about the life of a animator....definitely a cry for help
it's kinda funny the series is actually about|| tackling "adaptation" and no matter how much someone changes the narrative, the progression of the story is gonna be the same|| kinda crazy they are animating ARK despite all that
Animation can't be that hard 🤣
The Across the Spiderverse animators had to take an extra year on it just to animate all of Spider-Punk’s animation.
And that was in crunch-time.
studio MAPPA is well known to be the most overworked animation studio, hell even Japan is trying to crack down on overworking conditions in the anime industry
they got laid off after the success of the spiderverse
Edmundum Rockwell >>>> helena/sintago/mei/diana/anyone
NPC take
Doing anything in the film/music industry is almost a guarantee to get laid off for doing your job well
Absolutely W take
Yeah look at some xbox studios and the American team of marvel Rivals got fired for doing a good job
Canon Nerva though
he was a very well written character
So who are your favourites then lol
Mei and Diana (obvs) then Raia and John then Helena then Grad Students then Rockwell then Nerva
i always put antagonists last (because antagonists shouldn't be likeable, a well written one should make you hate them not simping for them)
but my overall take is always 4 ARK notes (pre-cutscene) > 4 ARK notes (with cutscene) > Genesis (1&2) notes >>>> Anime
Your last point is oxymoronic.
A well written antagonist should have you feel hatred or distain towards them. (obviously just in this topic. As there's different archetypes for the antagonistic role in writing)
Buuuuut as well as this, a well written antagonist should also be enjoyable to watch 'be' evil, making them likeable.
that doesnt mean i dont like well written unlikeable antagonist tho
especially narratives with rarely redemptions
Well, what I'm saying is "likeable" doesn't equal to "they're good" in a moral sense.
Recent example of this is Jack Horner from The Last Wish.
An irredeemable piece of shit that has no growth and, by all accounts, is a subhuman trash.
Yet he's really fun to watch be evil, making him likeable to the audience.
i am saying this as my standard for the OG lore is higher
and yes i forgot santiago because i dunno where to rank him since his "personality" is split between Ext and Gen
That's why for now, it's best to just separate them as characters.
So in lost colony is the corruption still alive on wart or eill it just be Rockwell?
Well
Either there isn’t any corruption, or the corruption is still being wiped out.
So if it’s still there, it’s gonna be on a weakened status
Likely gone with any threats being from the crashed Aberration ARK.
please not another rockwell fight
I'm really coping we get some ancient Tek sentinel fight.
Like a Master Controller, but with an actual body and in the physical world.
Nah personally I like the character development and the not so subtle descent into insanity bossfight is good all three of em but yeah
personally i kinda lowkey want a bossfight that is a kin to the experimental giga or data corrupted Tek that buy rockwell some time while he escaped from Mei and Diana
my favorite boss fight so far has been CMC, just sucks that it's on the worst map
That would actually be so sick bummer lost colony is only on asa (right?)
yeah LC is the first newly made story map for asa
Aw damn I’ll just have to watch a play through or something
What did the reaper come from did it come from a mutated Dino or was it made by Rockwell or something like that
i think it was created by the overseers as a punishment or something idk
am i correct in saying that?
I don't like Nerva because of his deeds, I like him because of how he was written. Same way Darth Vader is a cool character.
Honestly though, I can't really pick a second favourite, most characters fit the story so well. Santiago got a bit iffy in Gen 2 but eh, otherwise an interesting fella
Mei is my favorite. Warrior princess is a cheat code for me, lol. I think I go with Raia next but that is mostly because of the excellent voice actor Neddy hired for his survival stories. Really brought her to life in my opinion. Helena next, sane Rockwell, Diana, John, Santiago, insane Rockwell, Nerva, obsessed Rockwell.
I think insane Rockwell is more redeemable than Nerva because he was influenced by the element but just obsessed Rockwell was the worst.
Element influenced his thirst for knowledge to a degree. But it's more likely most of his actions where on his own volition.
I think the element was the devil on his shoulder or Doc Octs mechanical arms. I think they overwhelmed his logical decision making and pushed him to make the destructive choice.
Sure, but it's to be assumed that influence only gets to you if you allow it to. Unlike Doc Oct that the influence is literally tied to his neurological functions.
The Tek Tribe if I recall warned him to not go near it, as well we, the player never get influenced by it.
It's only as strong as you allow it to be.
Rockwell is honestly kind of a cautionary tale of what happens when ambition takes ahold of your morals and character as a human being.
Fair. So it could be closer to the influence of Lokis mask which just enhances your true colors.
Yerp
Rockwell always had a 'sus' side to him. With him coming from a time that ethics was kind of thrown out of the window for research and progress.
Element more or less just showed him all of the possibilities he could do if he embraced it.
That's why personally, I think it can't influence us.
Because The Survivors ambition is the destruction of this substance, and to restore Earth.
(again, personal headcanon) It can't influence us, because our wish would be its death. And so it doesn't bother to communicate with us since we're a lost cause for it.

What's great about Ark is that the Survivor always has the ambition of the player. Meaning, if the player wants to use TEK to make a powerful rifle capable of raiding the most fortified bases, the survivor might be to a degree corrupted by element already. Other survivors don't use element for anything before arriving on Earth, where they'll use it to help wipe out element once and for all. Completely depends on your playstyle.
Every survivor that takes the time to search out and find Rockwell's notes becomes aware of the destructive power of element, but how they use that knowledge is up to them.
And also, those who can't be bothered reading might be oblivious to it's effects
And some players that use Tek never leave The Island, or even bother ascending. As they're contempt to stay and dominate their respective ARK/server.
Arguably Element won in that sense. Because those Survivors will never pose a threat towards it, and that Survivor lives a live of contempt on their ARK/server.
So yeah, I like you're point that every Survivor has their own ambition towards Element depending on how they use it/their playstyle.
People who want to story-run the map while maxing out in Tek have their ambition to fully utilize Element just to destroy it.
Because that is our 'narrative' goal, and so if we follow the story, our Survivor's ambition is to destroy Element.
ARK is Elden Ring, and Element is trying to put our foolish ambitions to rest. 🐟
So what was Mei Yins conclusion again at Arat Prime ?
We don't know
Mei yin boss fight confirmed 🗿.
I wonder if that tek spear will be an engram ? I believe WC say we can have early access to the engrams , or was that put off as well?
Or some other content .
Tek spear would be low key fire
Not sure if this belongs here but is there potential for a Secret Level episode, based on Ark?
Would it be good if it explored a part of the game's lore in a more accurate way than the animated series? Or the average survivor's experience on a ark.

That'd be great honestly
More accurate than the animated series can be hoped for, but not sure how accurate Secret Level likes to be
Incredibly accurate, to the extent that certain episodes are just canon to the series they’re adapting
Give or take
Because you can argue the Pac-Man episode was pretty inaccurate to the game.
Secret Level takes huge liberties
The Armored Core one for example is created before the game is released, and according to the interview, the episode director said it will be loosely based because they don't want to release spoilers for the game
I've heard mixed opinions on that show they wanted to do a Master chief X Doomslayer episode but the higher ups said no
Microsoft be boring as usual
Haven't watched it but seeing how the pac man episode was way different than the game (Not sure if it's good or not)
It won't be surprising if it's take instead shifts towards a average beach bob's life on the ark. That, or a promotional episode based on Ark 2 instead.
the survivor POV has more liberties than the lore itself
i picture the Secret Level for ARK is the player's POV of being in a base and getting raided and such
this fits the run time of the episodes more than actually following the notes unless they go for Raia and John's story or the Grad Students
personally i kinda want the Tek War tho
Pre-ARK event or a non note survivors experience on an ARK would be the best approach for a Secret Level episode.
I wonder what new dinos and engrams will be releasing with early content access next month for lost colony ?
If I may ask, where was this confirmed that they're doing this?
They posted early access content for lost colony their release timeline . It was announced a couple months back.
Same announcement they said bison was coming to ragnarok.
It’s just speculation, i expect skins are the best we get .
Likely skins with maybe a new chronicle series.
11.1 /10.1 was the crunch release where it was said
Okay, so Arat Prime is a massive tek vampire castle. Got it
Not what I was expecting, but cool nonetheless
I think it was obvious
tek vampires and a giant castle to send the colony ship to space 😂
tbf, great place for vampires. no sun there.
I wonder if the humans willingly turned themselves into vampires to adapt to the environment, or if they were slowly mutated by element
Probably Element.
This is a copy and paste from another Discord.
This is a theory with no real evidence outside of a handful of stuff we got from the description
'Arat Prime was both the launch site and a sanctuary for any/all humans during The Collapse, as it has some form of Tek that's resistant to the ARK's reseed protocol.
But, something happened possibly with this Tek, as it started to mutate the humans there into beasts as it was still connected to the mutagenetic properties of Element.
It has no evidence. But I kind of feel this time, it isn't directly Rockwell that caused this issue. Since Mei-Yin is seeing all of this shit while the ARK's are still on orbit.
(assuming this trailer is set pre-reseed protocol)'
That would make sense, although that symbol they show at the end with the batwings almost makes me think it’s an organized faction to some degree
Although, it could simply be a means of designating that type of enemy
Yeah, description confirms factions are coming with this map
"Confront the demons of Arat Prime -- birthplace of the ARKs -- in ASA's first massive canonical expansion pack, ARK Lost Colony! Starring Michelle Yeoh as Mei Yin in cinematic anime sequences by legendary Japanese studio MAPPA, the epic new story of ARK Lost Colony bridges the gap from ARK Extinction to ARK Genesis and into the world of ARK 2. As you follow in Mei Yin's footsteps through an intense journey into the heart of darkness, you'll unlock powerful "Lost" character ability trees, befriend exotic tames, craft "Cursed" tiers of gear, and master advanced new building systems!
But beware, the frozen wastes of Arat Prime are not devoid of intelligent life; on the contrary, the city has become a war-torn battleground between twisted Element-powered 'factions' seeking to undo what was accomplished at the end of ARK Extinction. Together with generations of heroes, you'll unite the past and the future of ARK!"
Direct copy and paste of the description
Sounds like they're really trying to add as much ARK-2 mechanics into this map to test them out before refining them for ARK-2
Makes sense. I’m also assuming the factions are the three symbols at the end of the trailer. The first one looks to be Rockwell, what with the element and glasses, one being the URE, and the last being the vampires
That together with heros gives me hard avenger vibe
“Cursed” tier also sounds interesting. I’m guessing that’ll be a new form of Tek
Probably looking too far into it. But I wonder if the factions will be joinable, and PvP will be instead like an MMO where you can't fight your own allies unless they're in your guild (tribe in this case)
Ooh, that’s a neat idea
Who knows
Also that unlocking of strictures amd co sounds like we dont know how to manufacture certain items like heater for example and co and meed to find its blueprinzvia thes efactions maybe
Well well well, looks like it IS Arat prime. And Mei yin DID head there. And with what it sounds like, rockwells influence is also partially here since it mentions that factions are trying to undo the cleaning the arks did and return the corruption which Rockwell was shown to be able to do at the end of genesis 1
i sleep if Mei doesnt tame
We kind of ish got the factions at the end of the trailer.
Seems like Rockwell, the URE, and the vampires have their own respetive factions.
And the way the descriptions words them. It sounds like all three are trying to fuck up the end of Extinction in their own way.
makes me wonder what the hecc is going on with vampires
Calling it now. The gothic Tek is cursed with Element.
thicc gothic tek girls lmao
They stated we're going to get new 'Cursed' gear.
I'm calling it that the Tek is somehow corrupting/mutating the citizens that've lived here since The Collapse, and now made them into bat cultists that actually think they're cursed in a fantasy way, when it's more a sci-fi infection.
The red tek seems to be the cursed part and I imagine it’s some sort of illness the tek has contracted since it is partially sentient so it makes sense for it to get some sort of virus that causes this new mutation
Well, Tek isn't suppose to be sentient. That's the point.
It isn't until it's refined an--oooooooooh I see what they're doing
This is a prototype Tek. Before they fully could refine it to make it safe.
It's partially unrefined, making it that if you're around it for too long, you start to experience what Rockwell went through and can hear voices in the walls.
Possibly but if it’s not fully refined then it would just convert to purple corruption and not be red I feel
That's not how Corruption works if I recall.
Corruption is its own offshoot from Element.
And we don't fully know the rules of how a middle-ground Tek would be, with it being refined enough to be structurally sound, but not refined enough to kill the substance like normal Tek.
i feel like the "vampires" are reject desmodus lmao
Maybe it’s some sort of Bloodborne corruption that’s mutating them. It’d explain the blood on the logo
the only thing that ASA i would love to tackle on is the dino experiments gone wild
Corruption forms as a biproduct of constant use of element however element itself unrefined could be argued that it is sentient since Rockwell was getting delirious at the mere presence of it but that could also just have been him being an absolute psychopath and imagining this
Wait, correct me if I’m wrong, but, at the end of the extinction explorer notes, didn’t Helena respawn Diana? If so, where is she?
She seemingly went off to the Genesis ship seeing as how Diana somehow was on the planet Arat
But she could of also been killed but who fricken knows at this point
From my understanding, the cause of Corruption has never been out right confirmed. Only hinted.
It's likely to be the case it's due to the pollution. But it's never out right confirmed. And Gen2 shows that Element pollution grows into more Element instead of Corruption. As well as whenever we use Element devices, it converts it into more Element spores for it to spread more Element, not Corruption.
It's more likely that Corruption is just Element when it reaches max compacity for whatever it's trying to convert/destroy. As Corruption didn't form until near the end of the Element war, even though Element likely grew constantly throughout the Element war.
Such a fascinating little sci fi concept, element is.
It's just a copy and paste of the protomelecular (however you spell it) from The Expanse, and the stuff from Command & Conquer.
AKA mystical McGuffin that would make a thing more fantastical
aka EZ writing
Dash in the Flood's hivemind from Halo and the biblical themes with both.
Damn. I still need to read that series.
So, assuming Corruption forms more from a critical mass situation instead of just pollution in general. It's still likely that semi-refined Tek could exist without it becoming Corrupted. But still drive people mad as it's producing radiation that the hivemind can wiggle itself inside your brain and learn about your browser history.
If i die dont let corruption get my browser hostpry
So the people in Arat prime became vampires because of element?
That’s explains why the messages from the city said there was no attack, because it was from within?
Can we expect any normal human survivors NPC?
And now in english
Seems like the trailer hints at human experimentation, seeing how homo Deus were examples of “trans-humans” and without anyone to check on any surviving colonists , who knows what drastic measures they took to “evolve/ ascend”?
More like results of genetic experimentation like how the trans humans / home deus under went but in an unholy manner.
I didn’t really get it when I watched the trailer to be fair.
Hope their AI is better than the ones from the actual Dinos, because if they’ve ever been human, they should be more capable than mindless raptors…
It basically gave ya a sample of the type of “evolved “ humans there are on lost colony. Won’t be surprised if this group of enemies are gonna be the native antagonists parallel to how the nameless/chupacabra are.
Basically human experimentation gone amok, which homo deus being the only successful example.
Just a speculation.
Yeah, they look to be far smarter in the trailer, they know atleast what an ambush is
I also suspect mei yin, might be the boss of the map as well.
Why would she be against us?
We are humans as well after all.
I doubt she will be the boss since there is a new faction existing
That’s the problem she won’t, not at first , seems like she will be recording in her diary /notes on what she sees in the colony and eventually gets taken hostage/ gets experimented on (or not ).
Either way , I think there will be some sort of relic/ tekgram tied to her since the tek spear is a new weapon.
I don’t know man, seems like a finale wildcard wouldn’t give her
Bare in mind we dont know who the heck are the vampire faction are unless it's there just to have an enemy to smash
Her death is enough of an ending for her tbh
To date, most information concerning Arat Prime comes from encrypted messages scattered across Sanctuary, readable by those wearing a Tek Helmet.
"A7 priority communication received. Arat Prime is locked down."
"Arat Prime is locked down. Emergency launch initiating. Proceed to nearest shelter."
"Arat Prime has gone silent. Launch was not confirmed."
So somebody/something crashed out on arat prime.
According to Diana Altaras, Arat Prime was being referenced by the bunker she and Mei Yin found to show information how Element can command the Corrupted horde with troop movements, and any artificial entity made by Element can spread it anywhere they go.
With Earth currently not rotating, the area around Sanctuary had constant exposure to the sun, giving an impression of constant day. Since the location of Arat prime is on the far side of Earth, it would experience the opposite: constant night.
According to HLN-A, Diana and Mei Yin made it to Arat Prime, where they sent Helena inside the Genesis simulation to make HLN-A.
According to Nida, Arat Prime is a location that has a superlight speed bridge via Genesis Simulation to connect the Colony Ship with Earth.
Tbh the location doesnt feel like Arat Prime tbh
Because of the giant gothic castle?
Yep
Probably they made it their home and rebuilt all of the launch site
Or maybe it’s not the same place
It feels like ARK X Castlevania crossover than actual lore
What hypes me the most, is the possible interaction Mei Yin and us will have
It’s the nexus point between our story and Helena
I wish we wont tho, it losses the point of the notes predates before the survivor arriving
There should be a moment where they get to know us defeating Rockwell “for good” and slaying the king titan?
Meh i rather have them not meeting the survivor
Which makes me wonder, why didn’t the King Titan approached Arat Prime given there was life there? Even tho a strange life form.
Did he only have interest in killing humans?
Because the Sanctuary is supposed to be the origin of the ARKs and Arat Prime is just a station
It seems it got retconned infavor of ARKvania
Well yeah but he wanted to wipe life out, not just conquer sanctuary.
Seems like surface level will be new gothic structures but caves / underground portions will be the actual colony and the creatures were just stopped from breaching into the deeper parts of the colony. Basically those creatures FOBed up on top of the colony.
He probably was looking for humans , but because human life specifically was not detected at least in the upper crust of the earth.
Was thinking that instead Arat Prime is basically the Krakoa of ark having its own human experiments/ mutants/ hybrids .
Arat Prime is stated as a space station, not an experiment hub
that is what "the Farm" does unless Lost Colony is not Arat Prime but rather "the Farm"
It’s the launch site where genesis ship was launched from.
and?
It’s said we are going straight for Arat prime and if I recall it was never actually said to be a space station it was part of earth the entire time since Mei and Diana had one final lead and it was to head for Arat prime on the dark side of earth.
If it WAS a space station then it would of been physically impossible without transferring to actually reach Arat prime. And it seems Mei actually reached it on foot after god knows how long of traveling between the intense heat and now intense cold
it stated to be a space station because its where (parts of) the gen ship launched from

You… do realize they could of launched on earth right?
arat prime is on earth lmao
The ship with how it’s presumably stated was made on earth in Arat prime, launched and at the same time or soon after the arks were launched. There was no space station at all
the ARKs and the Gen Ship is made by 2 different factions with different goals
ARKs are restoration Gen Ship is exploration
if one fails, at least humanity will still progress one or another
And? I don’t see your point since Arat prime was the two factions in general experiment sight for both the arks and the creation of the genesis ship
the thing is Arat Prime is not the "first ARK"
that title belongs to "the Farm"
And with what it’s said from the trailer the people left behind from the genesis ship launch and the arks ascending made their last stand on Arat prime but something went horribly wrong
I never said it was the first ark, it’s just a meet up point to experiment and that’s how we got the farm
it said so now in the description it seems
It’s mentioned Arat prime is the ‘birth place of the arks’ not that it’s an ark itself
Then again who knows, maybe after the creation of the farm they modified it into an ark? But I doubt that
except it's not supposted to be the "birthplace of the ARKs"
that's Sanctuary and its proto-ARKs
Arat prime is a space station that housed the superluminal link to Gen
I would say it would have that monicker if it was where the farm was made and then the Proto arks were made
you dont need to ping me
It’s not… a space station… it’s just a link station on earth…
I’m replying to the specific messages in question my bad
Back to the point, it’s not counted as a space station, its a control center if anything. It’s like saying the control center of nasa is a space station when it’s not
So, the description of the Lost Colony teaser mentions “twisted element-powered factions” and we get what appear to be the icons for these factions at the end of the teaser, one of which is the United Republics of Earth. We already know that the URE were quite big on transhumanism and given that they decided to put wyverns and other fantasy creatures on the ARKs, it’s safe to assume that they have a bit of an interest in bringing fictional creatures to life. Given that we know that the URE is somehow involved in Lost Colony and vampiric humanoid creatures are seen in the trailer, it seems likely that the URE may be at least partially responsible for their existence.
They really took one look at Arat Prime and went "Endless night, huh? You know what would thrive in this environment? Vampires."
Hopefully he understands now. lol
i feel like the "bat" emblem is gonna be a new map exclusive note character because every map has one
Island - Nerva
SE - Raia/John
Ab - Diana/Grad Students
Ext - Santiago
Gen 1 - HLNA (glitches)
Gen 2 - Gabriel/Nida
Lost Colony - Bruce Wayne
So I know it's not cannon but I like how they said the new Aquatica map crashlanded in the altantic after extinction but all of the oceans were dried up by that point
Lmfao so now Aquatica is technically considered canon .
Lmao that is just Snail Games being desperate
I remember that silly kids game in switch thinks it is also canon because "it may reveal lore" if someone 100% it
Regardless, Aquatica is considered an official map.
And the first official and canon map that will launch without official support.
What a mess. No doubt they will port it .
No need to ping me
And again, so does Dino Discovery lmao
NGL I fear the conclusion for Mei and Diana is gonna suck
It's either Diana is getting retconned to BTT version or over all the writing be sucked, no matter how good the animation gets
I got ‘some’ faith that they’ll explain what the hell happened to Diana after they begun their travel toward Arat prime
Random question but if element was on the PH scale where would it be 😔
No fricken clue
W h a t
It'd be yes.
Element's PH would be whatever it decides to convert itself to suit its current needs.
Huh duly noted that’s sick
Where tf does rockwell play in this new dlc
thats my biggest question we getting Rockwell this time hes Dracula?
Some form of factions system is confirmed to be at play in this expansion. And the ending credits for the trailer seems to hint that Rockwell is his own faction
Nah, they actually seem to be seperate.
Rockwell has to lose in this right or would he win in this faction system since he finds his way on the ship
He'll probably lose the war for the city and b-lines it to the liminal uplink for the ship.
I was thinking he might have to win since these new guys are guarding arrat prime
Since it also states that the factions are trying to undo the ending of Extinction. Makes me think we'll be a fourth party faction of our own and just fucking kill each three faction.
We don't know what their motive is.
We also have apparently the URE to some degree in here.
I wonder if we're going to get shadow maines and summoners on this map
since they're rockwell's creations
I think the URE might be trying to take the planet over since the arks aren't something they made
Some actual evil humans and not just slaves of rockwell we fight

The URE flat out made the ARK's.
no its the other faction URE made the colony ship
You're flipping them around, my man
The Terran Federation created the Genesis ship.
URE created the ARK's as they had belief that Earth could still be saved.
The "United Republic of Earth" is trying to save and preserve life on Earth.
There's also Terran Federation symbols on the Genesis ship.
Santiago worked for the Terran Federation, and they picked him to help maintain their ship.
Either way they seem to have no reason to be an evil faction since well shouldn't they all be dead at this point
Either faction would be dead on earth since the whole titan thing
Well, they kind of changed Arat Prime's lore with the new trailer.
Seems like Arat Prime now is akin to Sanctuary, but actually worked. As Helena states in the trailer that "people during The Collapse still live there"
Meaning not all pure humans are dead.
And over generation, some twisted version of the URE could be formed.
Also, they don't have to be 'evil' for them to oppose us, The Survivor.
All the description says is that the factions are trying to undo Ext's ending.
Which could mean the URE are trying to restore Tek and bring back a new Tek era for Earth.
Whiiiiiich last time that shit happened with the URE, the entire planet got killed off.
The URE made the ARKs
And the Federation worked WITH the URE to make the Genesis-Ship
Gen-Ship was more of a team project.
So I just saw the page for aquatica, and it states “prepare to uncover the origin story of element”
Hooooooow do you tell the origin story of element! It’s a space rock! You’d need to be deep in space to tell it!
Man, I hope the current ark writers are actually working on it, because I do not trust snail games at all to tell that story
Firstly, it isn't canon so it doesn't matter.
Secondly, these types of narrative points of a resource that gives unlimited power but actually causes the downfall of man have been explored multiple times in other games, and there's two I can think of that already explained their own magic space rocks.
I mean, it kind of seems like they’re treating it as canon? As for where it comes from, I always assumed it was just a naturally occurring resource like any other mineral.
Command & Conquer the Tiberium was sent to Earth as a process for conquest and taking it over. Then you have the Protomolecule from The Expanse which was created by an ancient civilization to construct super-structures.
Same way they make Dino Discovery "canon" lmao
I've been told that on the GDC page for it, they mentioned it isn't canon.
No, this one is just flat out isn't canon
Oh, that’s a relief
Still annoying that a fully aquatic map had to be this, and not something actually good
General rule of thumb currently.
If it isn't in ASA. It isn't canon.
Hence my comparison to Dino Discovery
Dino Discovery is semi-canon though. It's tied to the simulation.
This is just flat out, non canon to any degree.
Seems like mutants might be a thing in lost colony . The vampire hybrids only explanation for its existence is the URE decided to experiment on humans further since they already are dabbing into being home deus/ trans humans and decided what else they can achieve.
Nah man, I refuse to believe this
ASA has already retconned and changed stuff
That's the point
It's the new official canon.
It kinda sucks tbh
Hang on, give me five minutes. Exercising.
I mean, not huge differences but I feel the outcome will be lesser
but eh, it doesn't matter if you don't play ASA I guess
Don’t be surprised when they green light Aquatica for ASA port hence this risk of it being canon.
Might happen. At this point I personally don't even care though
Neither does snail games in their AI trailer. Whole thing is a mess.
the direction of the game is lost, the vision of the game is lost and purchases is all they can think about
But now I'm gonna stop yapping, if people like these changes that's fine for them
I just don't
Okay, back
Feel like they already tried for ASA. But Wildcard pulled another strike and forced them to backtrack this to ASE.
It’s been pointed out by numerous commentators that they are reusing atlas assets, so for the time being, it’s not WC problem until they green light the port for it along with the assets.
Yeah, since ASE is abandonware I assume Wildcard doesn't really care anymore what they do with it. As long as it isn't ASA.
unless Nekatus beats Snail to it when he port every creature from ATLAS to Astraeos
When is lost colony gonna release
Apparently in November time but we all know wildcard is bad with times so I’d say maybe January at worst
Bet Ty
No problem mate!
Wait so Rockwell is gonna be in lost colony, confirmed?
Given the logo at the end of the trailer with element and Rockwell’s glasses, he’ll definitely be involved to some degree
You can recreate that entire setup by adding the atlas creature mods to the Atlantis map. Boom, you have Aquarius for ASA lol.
Man makes me jealous of the people with good pcs
Praying I get a good one that can run asa before lc comes out
So yup . Aquatica is considered OFFICIAL dlc per its steam page that loaded crysis covers .
Holy fuck. They are standing strong on this .
Why are you watching loaded clickbait
Most likely. Lost Colony bridges the gap between Extinction and Genesis.
Loaded crisis on his way to make a thousand videos on a random announcement from two weeks ago
Oh yea ik just hyped Rockwell gonna be in it
So what's the purpose of the vampires you think they're going to be tameable or can you make friends with them? Well that's still considered taming. I don't know. I'm pretty hyped up for this lore
They seem to be tied to a faction.
same, i am sick and tired of rockwell now
he is less effective as a villain than he is originally be
he's from dangerous villain to a comedy villain
i miss the old rockwell in AB where he is not talking
Think he'll be on the map, but not as the antagonist.
Insert minutelong moabibg and co
I wanna say he will keep himself covered and in the end end we will see just a glimpse of hin before he enter the uplink
Think it's likely, unless they fuck up, that we'll find his lifeless body after he transfers his consciousness to the liminal uplink.
Possible
Or an abomible thibg that is a fusion of many of the creatures there withvmany mouths many sounds and co and at the end you will see how rockwell mass is uploadibg itseöf
I could see him acting as a background element of the story, manipulating the URE and the vampire’s conflict so that he can benefit
Well if I recall from Gen2 notes, it's hinted that he had to rebuild his body on the ship since he was just a consciousness in the Genesis simulation, and started to slowly convert the metal on the ship into meat for his new body.
So if that's the case, he'll have to leave behind a husk of a body at the end.
Possible
That I can see.
I kind of wonder if they're going to make Diana morally questionable, since the URE are thrown into these factions it seems, and it's stated that the "factions" are trying to revert the ending of Extinction.
Possibly meaning the URE wants to bring back Tek, and didn't learn from their last mistake.
Or what if lost colony boss is a corrupted machine with some dino parts
I wonder how they’re going to explain Rockwell getting himself to Arat Prime, since last we saw he was pretty stuck.
Although, I suppose he could’ve just grown some legs, like that old concept art of him
Aberration broke and now he can slither like that monster from the movie Slither
It honestly woudnt surprise me if his design was inspired by that monster
Lot of similarities there
Wait, so that implies you've watched that movie?
Nah, I’ve heard of it though. I just googled the main monsters design, and its face bears an uncanny similarity to Rockwell
He gonna infect his next host
GDC Narrative from the conference via Raasclark as he covers it
Dr. Wiesse : German Nuclear physicist that was studying element before it was first discovered.
Kate: survivor from earths final days before earths corruption
Weak ass b list version characters stated by Raasclark himself Kek
Then is Aquatica canon or not?
If it’s canon, how do we fit in the lore?
I would assume myself we (us survivors) are not the same character than the one from Aquatica, as the character from Aquatica seems to have landed with the Ark.
Now: Should we consider Aquatica canon?
It’s been shown the quality of the map is questionable, so I would assume lore wise the quality is even worse.
As Raasclark stated, snail is the owner of the Ark ip.
They could bastardize Ark in a parallel manner that Disney does with marvel in the MCU as lots of fans pointed out .
It might be sometime after the events of extinction probably after the reseed protocol.
Or not
It has to be
Because:
-
The ocean is not frozen, means the earth must be spinning keeping the ocean warm.
-
It’s an Ark
Hard to tell since they pigeonholed it and it’s just ASEs version of Lost Colony.
What and Why is Ark : Aquatica
Aquatica is a new expansion map for Ark: Survival Evolved by Snail Games.
Aquatica is a celebration of the last decade of Ark. It’s our final send off to survival evolved, intended as a surprise thank you to our player base.
You don’t need to use euphemism with me mate, I’m as well an Ark player, I know it isn’t a thank you or a good bye, but a way to make cheap money.
Mudpuppy(Axolotl) : defensive tame, low damage output , stuns attacking dinos/players
Monodon (Narwhal) : offensive and utility tame , medium damage output, can heal target ally , light source for dark environments
Dakosaurus (sea crocodile): offensive tame , high damage output
And I agree. All I’m doing is pulling info from the GDC conference .
They are just cashing on the excuse of a 10th anniversary of ark to get some pay pigs from ASE.
Creatures : 17 brand NEW dinos, PLUS a host of near appearances for fan favorites from prior DLC.
Engrams: We have added 60 new engrams and 10 new food recipes.
Biomes: Players will experience 5 massive biomes, all existing completely underwater.
I think we should all make a collective effort to make a “purist” movement and don’t accept Aquatica as part of the canon as it doesn’t come out of wildcard.
Wildcard themselves have directly stated it isn’t canon, so we don’t have to worry about Snail’s story choices
Snail's official page on it confirms it isn't canon
Aquatica is not Canon, even if they try to retcon it
Aquatica is putting bones on top of a gravestone
It literally can't fit into the canon.
Not only does Lost Colony confirms that the glacier side of Earth is still taking time to dethaw, even as the Earth is rotating again. (which is more believable) but the Atlantic ocean wouldn't exist.
Earth is so geographically different by the time Ext happens that any oceans forms post Ext would be 100% new oceans.
They are talking like element was being studied before it was discovered. Which is dumb. Element wasn't produced by chemical processes, it was from space
Fr
Actually, that was sadly softly hinted to be a thing in Gen2. 🐟
The oceans dried up
The split personality of Gabriel if I recall mentioned his time forging with a substance similar to Element.
But pretty sure most of the lore community throw that piece of information away, since it wouldn't make sense timeline wise, and that side personality was insane.
Huh. Either way. Aquatica isn't Canon simply due to it being scummy, regardless of story 🤣
Thank fuck they're smart (ish) and confirmed it isn't canon on their official page.
Yeah, wc jumped on that train to say they have nothing to do with this
I am waiting to see GPs next video, he said he has more "hidden" info on that. I don't think it's the regular stuff because everyone already knows that
I wouldn’t necessarily mind a story about the discovery of element and the golden age of tek, but I have absolutely no faith in Snail Games to tell that story, and knowing them they’d likely just prompt ChatGPT to write it
And the worst thing is that most likely we will never get a full-oceanic map because of it already existing in the form of Aquatica.
Yep. A fully aquatic canon map would be awesome, but as you said, we’ll likely never get that now.
I hope I'm not alone in being irritated that this non canon "dlc" is messing with the origins of element. Kind of eats at me.
I mean, it’s non canon, so it doesn’t have any effect on the actual lore whatsoever
It’s just snailgames fanfiction in an attempt to get fans to buy it
Like to be fair, the origin has been confirmed for like six years.
It came from space via a meteor.
Humanity found it and shitty governments doing shitty government things monopolized it, and another shitty government thought Element should be free without restrictions, and that caused the Element war and everything to fuck up.
They're either going to just retell what we already know, or completely butcher it.
I was there when it was written
the animated series is the catalyst of it all for me
If you want my "purist" take then pre-cutscene era island to extinction (written by Soskin) is the real story of ARK, the rest is just pure side quest and offshoots
I've used ChatGPT for shits and giggles.
No...no my man, it's bad.
I still use it to fuck around with it today.
It's a glorified Google search with a robotic personality.
I always just assumed that the meteor that brought Element to Earth had arrived far earlier in the timeline and simply didn’t get discovered until Element had spread significantly from the initial impact site. Maybe Gabriel’s memory is actually one of humanity’s earliest interactions with Element and knowledge of the substance was simply lost to time until Element veins started popping up in areas where it was impossible for them to go unnoticed.
Tbf, it's just glorified matrix multiplication and dot products. The fact it has a personality is wild
Came down around the 22nd-24th century.
more like Snail's canon pfft
So, Helena is in Arat now by the looks of the trailer?
She stopped being an homo Deus? What is even going on.
r e t c o n
Mazzy, do you know what the definition of a retcon is?
If they explain it away with explanations they pulled out of their asses without it contradicting anything that was established. It isn't a retcon.
My way of typing shows sarcasm
It’s likely another clone of her
We haven’t had a case of someone going from human, to homo-deus, back to human
I finally got to watch the animated series. It is not canonical AT ALL. Very disappointed!! 😒
I mean, it never billed itself as being canon. Most adaptions aren’t.
almost all are retellings and are changed because of the change of media.
very very few will tell everything and the same way.
May I ask where this information comes from? I know the whole element arriving in the form of a meteor thing is mentioned by Marc Soskin in that Reddit AMA he did, but he doesn't appear to state when that meteor arrived and I can't find anything in the explorer notes that can be used to pinpoint when element first showed up on Earth.
Because ARK shares our history up until Element is found and Tek is invented.
This is given by RedGear, which I'd argue is one of the best lore people we have around in the community.
"2014 Was when ark existed, thus seperating it from the alternate timeline. 2140 was a date given when element was around"
2140 is around (give or take) the date apparently non-cloned Diana dies in. And she was a pilot for what was basically a Tek jet.
Meaning that either two options.
A: Even though we have devices that can scan our crust and what's inside of it, and we've fully scanned the ocean IRL, somehow, someway, Element was able to stay hidden for thousands of years underground without any form of radiation detection.
B: It came from space sometime in our future and technology just comically BOOMS afterwards.
Not as severely drastic as the animated series
Usually most show adaptations are 80% to 90% accurate
TAS is like 25% when the only thing that is from the notes are the character's names and the new legion
MCU is EXTREMELY different from how the actual main Marvel continuity (616) was.
Though I'd argue in most ways pre-Phase 4, the MCU did almost everything better narratively.
Marvel has so many variations of their canon within the comic line since the 80's, it is hard to keep track VS the ARK IP has 1 canon
MCU to me is a good example of an adaptation actually rewriting bad writing and making it good.
TAS is feels more like they wanted to changes stuff, just because they wanted it to feel different from the notes.
No, Marvel actually does only have one main canon. The other universes are just more of What-If's.
616 is where every major event happens in, and is 'the' continuity.
I.E: 616 is the timeline where Stark is a PoS.
Spider Man accidently snapped Gwen's neck and killed her.
Thanos is a simp. Etc.
You realized those can connect eachother through multiverse events
I doubt the ARK IP will pull the same thing
That isn't the point at all.
You are comparing a well established IP to an IP that is barely breaking mainstream
Where is the similarities in that?
The MCU is an adaptation of 616, the main timeline that every major event happens in.
Forgetting a moment other universes exist in the comics and if we keep to Phase 1-3 stuff of the MCU. I'd say the MCU is a better adaptation then TAS is.
That doesnt disprove my point about how accurate some adaptations VS TAS tho
Mazzy, I'm not disproving your point. I'm reinforcing how inaccurate and boring TAS is.
2
because the animated series exists.
there is no "main" canon for marvel lol. each is equally main
TAS is not canon by WC's admission
its a different canon. its not the same story as the game
I see. So, it’s not that we have any official confirmation of when Element arrived on Earth, but that we’d otherwise have to assume that modern technology is unable to detect Element. To be honest, given all the other random stuff that Element is capable of, it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s just another thing it can do.
Sure, if there was a narrative incentive for Element to do that.
But as it stands, if it was on Earth for this long, you'd think it would emit some form of energy for us to detect so we can use it ASAP.
Element wants to spread by any means necessary. So there'd be no point in hiding currently when we likely would have the means to make Tek 'today' if we just had Element.
The only way I can see this making sense, is if Element detached that Earth had some form of lifeforms on it. (or even some form of nuclear warfare that that acted as a beacon for it in space) came to us at our lowest point, and forced us to rely on it for it to spread.
Also, interesting fact.
Santiago was pissed he was missing the latest URE idol during the early Aberration notes.
Which the URE and Feds where at war, likely restricting each others internets from their citizens.
Meaning Santiago probably used a VPN.
One possible reason that I can see Element initially trying to avoid detection is that it is a kind of survival instinct, since you can’t exactly spread if you’re immediately found and destroyed. It’s possible that Element wasn’t initially aware of how advanced the native life on the planet was and as such tried to avoid detection until it had a better understanding of the situation and had spread sufficiently from the initial crash site, so as to reduce the risk of it being eradicated before it got the chance to do its thing.
But that's the thing.
It takes fire to kill fire with Element rules.
It can't die from any of our modern day ways, so why would it be scared?
The only way to destroy Element is what we saw. The reseed protocol that vaporized Element, using Tek.
Element if anything is more like The Flood with its personality, and comically confident in its ability to wipe out and manipulate entire species.
I would not be surprised if they later on mention that humanity is the first ever species to actually fight back Element and win.
Well, we know that Element can be used to destroy Element, but we can’t really say that there is nothing else in the universe that could destroy it.
If we assume that element is naturally occurring, then what is stopping something similar to it from existing elsewhere?
If we assume that it is the artificial creation of some alien species, then what is stopping some other alien species from creating even more advanced technology capable of easily eradicating it?
Unless it already knew everything there is to know about Earth, it wouldn’t be able to immediately rule out the possibility that something on the planet could be a threat to it and its goals, so waiting to reveal itself until it has more information and isn’t confined to the initial impact site makes some degree of sense.
I don't know. Don't imagine Element being that cautious.
It literally formed the Titans for no reason other then to flex that it took over Earth, since Titan's didn't form till the ARK's where already in space and everything basically was already dead.
There's was no need for Titan's to form, yet they did anyway.
That seems like a flex if I've ever saw one.
Element saw Godzilla and got a very funny idea
To be fair, the explorer notes do mention that the titans spreading and protecting element is what is preventing the ARK's from just coming down and cleansing the element, hence why we have to kill the king titan, so they do serve a purpose. The flex is more just that Element decided that kaiju are ideal for that role and not like, literally anything else.
I have no backing. But Element just seems more like a comically over confident manipulator that gets Pikachu shocked faced when it gets its assed wooped for the first time ever.
lmao yeah, I do find the idea that Element has never even considered the possibility that something is capable of destroying it really funny
Also it's funnier to imagine a bunch of fucking advanced apes that it manipulated, made them grow fat and contempt, then started a planetary war and caused their supposed extinction gets their ass handed by the cloned versions of said apes.
Forted by the indomitable human will.
Given that humanity deals with Element using Element based tech, it is kind of just one massive "stop hitting yourself", which is just peak humanity
This is why ARK should keep with the 'pro human' themes and not go into the "maybe we're the bad guys?" territory.
I mean I still really like the theory that Element is just really good at adapting to stuff and wasn't evil until humanity used it for warfare, but the pro human stuff is fun too
I do wonder if we’ll ever encounter other worlds that have been entirely infected by element
That might be the new narrative. But Marc was actually pretty clear that Element is flat out evil.
Marc's Element, from what I learned from RedGear, was basically the physical embodiment of entropy.
Acting as an allegory for Satan and the corruptive nature he brought.
Calling it now. Somehow Arat's lifeforms have adapted to Element without the biomechanical stuff on them.
Marc's narrative had a lot of biblical themes
I could see that, but I could also see them going a “this species is starting to use element, and we have to somehow convince them not to before it gets out of hand”
Like how Element can only corrupt people with already a tainted heart like Rockwell. Yet Helena, and seemingly everyone else was fine.
Not too far fetch to imagine that it was able to wiggle its way into politics and actually caused the Element war to some degree. Due to the corrupted hearts of the world leaders.
Element is, at least in Marc's continuity, the devil on your shoulder.
I do like that aspect, and hope it continues on, at least if element continues to be involved
I doubt it wont.
If we are to assume Eden did crash onto Arat. Then it now has traces of Element that can't be regulated by Stryders.
Since they...umm
Would kind of be destroyed in the crash
Interesting. Personally, I do prefer the idea that Element isn't inherently evil, since I am a big fan of the Tek stuff and the Element-infused creatures and keeping all of that around without dire consequences makes far more sense that way, but Marc's original intent for Element has some interesting themes associated with it.
I actually preferred this too for the longest time.
But then I realized that ARK's narrative should honestly be more like Halo, where it draws a LOT of parallels to the Christian bible.
I.E: Humanity didn't know sin until Eve ate the apple, because she was tempted by the snake. (Satan)
You can argue that humanity never knew true sin until the Element war started, which probably was THE worse war ever in the ARK universe. Since it likely involved countless deaths, more then even WW2 due to the use of Element nuclear bombs.
Element is of course the apple, and Satan being the hivemind behind Element.
Or the fact that humanity tries to ascend to godhood, but can't since we're using the technology from what is basically Satan. Instead of actually ascending to godhood on our own.
berlin wall intensifies
Probably because it's arguably one of the most popular religions in the world. And it's less touchy to touch on events in the bible that, for the most part are fiction compared to real events like WW2.
because its easy to base "good and evil" narratives on compared to the morally gray Real Life
But also to be fair, there's plenty of WW2 inspired narratives.
not just the bible mind you, there are books in the abrahamic religion like Judaism and Islam share the same thing as the bible
"one of the most religions in the world" ah yes, it's the religion of all time. Had to correct that.
Frank Fontaine better.
he is by definition a fallen angel hence being a one winged angel (down to how he killed Aerith)

speaking of Sci-Fi based on IRL events, i recently watched Babylon 5 with my friend
that would speak ARK-like narrative if you swap alien races with historical figures
What about Babylon 1-4?
||sabotage-sabotage-sabotage-in an endless timeloop||

i am not joking btw
The gates have been opened….
The imminent return of Rockwell is coming in the form of another clone in the Genesis ship.
David tenant is Ark and Ark is David Tenant
gross
When the overseer was destroyed on the aberration was that the same thing as what we did to the island overseer or is it not actually dead?
If you noticed when you killed the overseer, it doesn't explode in a blast of element, its core gets deactivated as the arena shows you the map
Nerva's final note said it best
Meanwhile the Tek People use a nuke to not only blow the overseer, but the whole arena itself, where the fragments is still visible from the surface and ascension
What i just noticed when i watched the Lost Colony trailer
If Mei is actually going to Arat Prime, how come she doesn't wear a Tek Suit instead she is in her Animated Series drip that is neatly made mind you
Last time i checked, she doesnt know how to make stuff, that includes armor according to the notes and no other survivors aside from the Tek people (which are mostly dead) to trade some armors with
@mental basin get your proof reading butt in here
It is extremely cold and her tek armor has limited amounts of element for fuel to keep her body temp at regular levels so I’d say it makes sense that she ditched the tek suit at some point since it’s got limited amounts of fuel just like the Meks
Also no she knows how to make basic stuff, such as spears, bows and arrows and other more simple stuff. So she likely got her fur gear from killing something that had the fur upon entering the snowy side of the planet and upon arriving to Arat prime she found a way to refine her craft in making pelt gear
Because people are inherently uninventive and every "new" idea is an old idea with minor variation.
Ohhh ok ty
It's not actually dead.
Aberration's Overseer got ass blasted out of existence.
The Island's just goes back into standby until the next survivors come and try to ascend.
How did they even manage to kill the aberration overseer and better yet why 😭😭
Tek nuke.
Also, because they had no context of the 'why' they where seemingly being kept captive by a third party and decided to be a bit excessive and send a bomb payload to the Overseer after Santiago tracked down its location.
Ohhhhh shit ok
And by doing that they basically cooked the surface of the aberration right
Yerp.
If you notice how ARK's appear during The Island's ascension, with being able to see them outside of their bubbles/spheres. You can see they have three pillars. One of them has a longer tip that overlooks the entire ARK on the bottom, and at the very tip of that pillar is where the entire Overseer/Hall of History is set in.
Which, by destroying not only that arena but entire pillar, destroyed the ARK's ozone layer.
(I assume it's the ozone layer, because that's the atmosphere layer that keeps radiation from the Sun out from Earth IRL.)
ok ok lowk makes sense ty 🤞
What sound on what map?
Bro was next to a purlovia ☠️
Hola
I have a question I haven't gotten too many notes on extinction but with the way the Lost colony trailer was is the relationship between Diana and mei yin been rewritten for basically Helena instead?
feels like it tbh
Saddening
One of my greatest grievances with ASA
The game is otherwise pretty good but why change the lore people loved?
m o n e y
more specifically, making the game's lore closer to the animated series
Disappointing
more disappointing
Naah, if anything doing this makes new stuff sell worse. The lore is half the advertising behind the Lost Colony DLC, people just want to learn more about Arat Prime.
But for some reason the lore is being changed to be more in line with their new animated series that flopped...
oh wait I see the connection now
yep
So are my frames
This likely had less to do with money, and just Jeremy/Jesse thinking this was a better narrative. (which it really isn't.)
I am 100% sure there is somebody on the team in a power position that dislikes the old story
And also doesn't understand the fundamental things of the game... Ark feels so directionless right now
alright I've ranted enough
but please tell me I'm not the only one
No, it does kind of feel directionless currently.
It felt like this since Gen1.
Or dislikes the original author. I read he was removed or something. Im no authority tho but thats usually how it goes when someone is replaced.
He just left.
Marc was done with ARK after Extinction since that 'WAS' suppose to be the end of the storyline.
See I read somewhere, was like the Xbox magazine back in 2017 or something that the story writer left after SE released or something like that. And Mark replaced him.
I'm probably out of the loop tho, I havent paid attention since then as the story made no sense at the time.
Marc was the first writer for ASE.
He created the OG Island characters
Weird, must have been someone else then. It was a short story about how they didnt know where the story was going without (whoever) it was at the helm.
Again, this was back in 2017 or something. Could just be my memory.
Don't know what crack that magazine was smoking.
But yeah, Marc is the first writer for ASE that created Helena, Mei, Diana, Raia, John, Nerva, and Rockwell.
Might have been piggybacking off the Snail games drama cuz that was being reported at the time I remember. Was the same time they came into the picture and the lawsuit was going on.
He started with The Island and ended with Ext.
That's why arguably that storyline is the most cohesive narrative we have so far for ARK.
Gen1 doesn't credit a writer, so likely was mostly internal as they where looking for a new writer.
And Gen2 was written by Peter Fries, which dudes interpretation of Marc's narrative seems like he just read off of the wiki page instead of actually doing research.
The lawsuit happened in 2016.
yeah it was a while ago
Oh, also worth pointing that it seems like Peter had no involvement with TAS. And they got, yet again, two NEW writers for TAS that have no experience with the ARK IP.
I'm pretty sure one of them barely published anything before TAS came out, so was mostly a novice.
Marc would at no point have any reason to interact with Snail Games during 2018 and before.
Also, he stated this was his reasoning of leaving online.
Jen also left because the IP was seemingly over.
Snail barely interacts with Wildcard in the first place in situations like Aquatica.
The recent official ARK tweet of them mentioning them having no connections to Aquatica was likely a higher up like Jesse/Jeremy that where the 'only' people at Wildcard that got the memo beforehand.
There'd be no point, no reasoning for anyone lower to interact with Snail Games. As Snail has their own developement and marketing department seperate from Wildcards.
An NDA would not save Snail from a bad work place environment.
Not defending Snail.
Just not agreeing with an illogical take.
I understand that.
But Marc flat out stated his reasoning online.
If that wasn't his reason to leave the studio, he wouldn't had publicly stated.
If you want 'ACTUALY' instances of people leaving due to bad blood and had to stay quite due to NDA's. Look at the situation with Joe Staten leaving Halo Infinite.
Likely because they aren't allowed to.
But if a US law is being flat out broken like the instance you brought up with the Snail USA CEO. Then an NDA is voided.
NDA's do not protect a studio from breaking the law.
Been a hot minute since I saw those leaks, so I don't fully remember the wording of the messages.
Also, was it when Snail was still in China or after they moved to the US?
They originated in China, but Shi moved to the US at some point.
Well, he brought the company to the US as well.
If I recall China isn't a great place to sell games to due to their strict video game laws over there.
Okay, so from what I'm seeing Snail USA was formed in 2011 while OG Snail was founded in China in 2000
Eventually they moved their HQ to be the Snail USA studio and moved out from China.
The shitty thing is, they're not a bad 'publisher' itself.
They've had decent unique concepts and games over the years.
Just that it's ran by a man-child of a CEO that refuses to admit his wrongs and grow as a person.
Pretty sure they just rebranded onto Conquest servers.
Oh shit.
not really, the devs there only work around the strict "Cultural Laws" hence the game has the simplest concept of the story to work with (simple in Asian terms)
hence most games from china or based in china are either inspired by "Journey to the West" or "The 3 Kingdoms" with little to no variation
i am not talking about other mythologies, there is a reason Snail moved to US when ARK became an IP
ARK contains religious context and LGBT representation which is against the Chinese Cultural Laws
its called a "law" for a reason, not an opinion
they have strict control what is made in the country
Aquatica is a 2nd simulation inside the Genesis Ship and that's why it looks like it has no soul. Brilliant, honestly.
I was going to say that makes sense to a certain extent
But then I remembered
Genesis 1 literally has a a zone dedicated to teaching colonists how to survive a watery environment
That's the ocean biome
The animated series is a mistake
I hope to the sentient stars Lost Colony follows Extinction Notes rather than Animated Series, for now they are "claim" to follow Extinction as more chronological timeline than narrative continuation
The lack of Diana in the trailer and DLC description irks me as a lore nerd
I don't think it's going to get any better.
Lost Colony will probably have some cool cutscenes via ascension. But then questionable narrative choices in the notes just like Gen2.
C'mon, they're calling Arat Prime the fucking birthplace of the ARK's.
Even though the goddamn ARK control center is in Sanctuary.
I know you are gonna make fun of me for this every time i say it but
It is feels like an absolute erasure to the original Soskin story
Pre Lost Colony release, I would.
But the more shit they add. I'm slowly starting to agree as well.
We'll see how it goes when it's released. But this does just seem like Extinction 2.0.
"Sanctuary was the last bastion for humanity before their extinction" well, turns out Arat Prime actually was instead, and there's still some form of humans left from The Collapse.
"Sanctuary was where the ARK's originated via the control center and the proto-ARK's" nah, turns out Arat Prime was the birthplace of the ARK's.
The only real thing left they can do to fuck over Extinction fully is establish that Arat Prime also has the controls for the ARK's. Making the entire point of Extinction virtually fucking useless in the grand narrative.
TBF, and this is a bit of the stretch, that could just mean the ark’s were first developed there. It doesn’t necessarily negate the control center being in Extinction
Or at least the final version of the arks, given the proto arks around sanctuary
Again, that goes against the Ext notes.
The Proto-ARK's 'are' the first developed ARK's, before it moved onto The Farm, the first ARK in orbit. Then they finally mass produced the ARK's.
Huh
Then yeah, that would be a retcon
I suppose the only real way it wouldn’t be would be if the schematics for the arks were developed in Arat before building the proto ones in Extinction
Or it’s just a bs description and the actual in game lore says otherwise
Also, I may be misremembering. But I swear if I recall the term "Sanctuary" was pointed in the notes due to it being the LAST city with humans in it.
It was humanities last stand against the Corruption before everyone died off.
I can’t recall, was Arat Prime occupied by the URE or federation?
Federation.
But URE collaborated via the Gen ship.
If I recall, there's also instances of the otherway around.
I suppose if you want to stretch, you could say the federation hid the information about it being a city or a last stand place from the URE
Magmasaurs where originally going to be on the Scorched ARK's, but it was deemed better within the Gen ship/simulation.
Sure, but at this point we're unnecessarily stretching the plot thin when they could've just as easily made it that Arat Prime was the Federation equivalent of Sanctuary, with it just being the birthplace of the ship.
True, true, that’s definitely the easier option.
I do imagine the actual in game lore and notes and whatnot will probably differ a bit from the actual description.
or at least I’m hoping it will
The question stands if the changes will make better or worse.
If the fight involves fighting off an enemy to allow the ship to safely take off that would be pretty neat.
The ship is long gone by the point Mei Yin gets their, let alone Rockwell and the survivor
It left around the same time the arks left
Ok thanks and dang. Literal missed opportunity lol.
There was readable text In sanctuary in evolved with equipped tek helmet , something about arat prime.
That they lost connection with arat prime, or something
i doubt they will possibly make a proper continuation from Extinction when we barely have Diana in the Lost Colony DLC trailer and description
Ark 2 will be at Arat Prime or another planet?
Ark 2 is on Arat, which is the planet seen in the trailer for it, and at the ending of Genesis part 2. Arat Prime was the launch platform located on earth for the colony ship sent to Arat.
ARK-2 is on Arat, a new planet.
Arat Prime is the city you see in the Lost Colony trailer that's still set on Earth.
Thanks
Praise Bob
Bob
So is Mei Yin taming a Rock Drake via knockout a mistake or is she just that built different? Do they ever say?
Mei is just built different
Diana literally said "her body is made of cheat codes"
Mei yin confirmed boss of lost colony
Doubt
Raas said it so it must be true lol
Just a theory mate. Probably the weakest one.
Mei isn't "the beast queen" without her tames
her turning into a vampire boss is kinda off, i can see more of the last stand that would rival Mei VS the Titan army in Ext
i am also doubt Diana is gonna be linked to the Gen ship as she wasn't mentioned by anyone in the Genesis notes, including HLNA which is literally part of the ship and Nida the modder who knows the ins and outs of the genesis ship hence she saw Gabriel (the first survivor left out of the sim) in the first place
You see, that's why she's the beast queen. Because she'll become the queen of the vampires/beasts.

less beast but more mutants
i'd say, "it's heretical"
They'd still be beasts.
it's like calling a feral cat, a "wild cat"
they are technically genetically human
Beast just means a dangerous animal.
Animal just means an organism that feeds on other organic matter with specialized senses and responds via rapid stimuli.
If the vampires meet that quota, they're beasts.
so does drunken/stoned humans if that was the case
I know, I was just trying to cause chaos 🤣
Tbh that's only true if they are interbreedable, but that's not something I think should really be explored😅. So they could be as generically different from humans as chickens are to t rexes. Decidedly not the same thing
If the vampire faction is just rockwell's attempt of genetic manipulation that is a bit waaaay neater of a splice than what he made in genesis where there is a hint of aquatic alien theming going on
Rockwell just started reading a bunch of classic horror literature, Dracula, Lovecraft, etc, and thought “I can do that.”
Nah it's too neat looking to be Rockwell's
I dont see it glow nor have bits of tentacle
Rockwells signature outside guts ™️
I thought the consensus was that the vampires did it to themselves
Like Rockwell is insane, but his skill level at mutations probably isn't nearly on par with precatastrophe humans
The vampires aren't tied to Rockwell.
If the ending slide of credits is to be taken of what factions we're getting, the vampires and Rockwell factions are completely separate.
It's also stated in the description that people have lived in Arat Prime, possibly during The Collapse. So the vampires are likely just mutated/genetically altered citizens of Arat Prime.
You think we will be able to choose our faction?
Sounds funny being a Rockwell acolyte
I 'hope' we do. But realistically, I doubt it.
They'd need to get reaaaaaly funky with the narrative for us to side with monsters.
Or they could just be lazy and say "yeah, so the canon path is the URE because fuck player choice when given."
David Tenant, vanquish this URE soldiers and my life is yours!
I mean, I don’t think there is an explanation on why after “vanquishing” element for good from earth we would just go to Arat Prime and say, you know what? I miss the king titan
nah he runs away like a coward.... like usual
plus it's hard for him to "win" when he is supposed to run to the superluminal link
That's likely why I think factions wont be joinable.
And if they are, it'll only be the URE because "good guys"
Well, issue.
For the vampire thing, I guess it’s more of a forced thing, probably a common bite and you get transformed, altho that sounds rather lazy.
The luminal link is likely heavily guarded by the vampire faction.
Yeah but doesn’t that kinda defeat of having factions?
No, because in a really rudimentary sense. ARK has had factions since Extinction.
depends if that said "faction" sides with him or not
Well yeah, but at our arrival the factions where long gone.
We now arrive at the height of a new war.
There ain’t nobody siding with Rockwell.
Corruption is mechanically a basic faction.
Their team is to kill everything that isn't Corruption. And in turn you have fights between wild and corrupted creatures.
I am expecting this faction system to just be literally that, but a three-way, with MAYBE a bit more complexity. But not much.
What do you mean?
The vampires literally still going to be on the map in-game. They're not 'long gone'
i doubt be a 3 way faction when rockwell is gonna charm his way like what he did to the New Legion and the Burning Phoenix
possibly will use this new vampire tribe as his advantage
I mean, on the other maps, factions where long gone.
And?
What's your point?
That there is no faction to join, we carve our path, there is nothing to join because it’s only “us” the players, not any NPC not strange vampires.
Correct.
And?
There's no mention of the factions for LC being joinable.
Only that there 'will' be factions.
technically "tribes" are factions
I ain’t saying that LC factions will be joinable, just that it feels like a missed opportunity to give the map more than one goal.
scratch that in the Island we have the "Alliance of Island Tribes" (Howling Wolves, Laughing Skulls, Painted Sharks, etc) vs the New Legion
be better off in ARK 2 when mechanics like that is possible with a "newer" engine
I agree.
But again, I feel like unless they actually give compelling reasons why we, The Survivor join these factions yet still probably fuck them over in the end to wipe them out, it'll just going to decanonize any other path that isn't "The Survivor has to be a good guy" then
Either that or because we know we went through the link to stop Rockwell
counterpoint, there are many survivors, not just the one who triggered the reseed protocol
Counter, counterpoint.
The games narrative assumes 'you're' The Survivor if you bother progressing through the narrative, even if it's for extra levels.
Counter, counter, counterpoint.
Everyone gets the intro cutscene with Helena hoping we're the one.
counter counter counter point
it is a sandbox game and last time i checked back in Gen 1 was released, Peter Fries expletively told us you can be either the Survivor from Earth or the Clone in the Genesis Ship
Counter counter counter counter point
They surely don’t remember they said that anymore.
by definition there are multiple survivors
it's just a title of people who are cloned in either in the ARK or in the Gen ship, it's not a special title like "the chosen one"
Yeah, but it’s been years since they said that, and it hasn’t been taking into consideration with the development of LC.
Seems*
Counter, counter, counter, counterpoint.
That tweet is 100% going to become redundant, as this'll 100% confirm that The Survivor from Ext is the Genesis Survivor.
As, unless they just kill us off. The transition for the ending will go into Gen1.
Also, Peter Fries twitter account is privated so everything he stated can no longer be sourced.
counter^69 point
there is a way to bypass that through screenshots and internet archive
Still doesn’t mean they took it into account when developing LC

No U
who say's they dont tho, Stel gave them a lore refresher like a month ago
i doubt they forget it
I doubt they remembered it
and even if they forget it, it doesnt disprove that the term "Survivor" is not a special title unlike "The One who Tries Again"
If they did, they wouldn't had called Arat Prime the "birthplace of the ARK's"
Because Wildcard has been in quite some unstable months, so many things went through the company, and probably they didn’t remember that specific fact that anyway could be changed at any time.
And because even tho reminded a month ago, the development of LC should go much before that.
Okay, counterpoint.
The One Who Tries Again was only used like, three times.
Both in semi-canon notes throughout the maps from ???, and others from The One Who Wait's notes on Ext.
Nowhere else is that used for our protagonists allies.
Every other account just called us "The" Survivor.
i have recall Jeremey posted on twitter asking about the lore, i am sure they are trying to recall during said development time
Needing your fan base to remind you the lore isn’t kinda proving my point?
more counterpoint
not every player follows said narrative given the glowing implants and in game progression is not canon as well, only the ascension cutscene when you beat the boss
IF they choose to beat the boss that is
and even if they dont, they are still called "THE Survivor" regardless of progression
Yes.
So everyone is the protagonist.
Ok
Changing to a more important thing.
How is Helena on Arat? How does she knows about Mei-Yin is Lost Colony.
Wveryone has plot armor
I guess thatvwe will find out once the map and the notes drop
Pulling yourself back to reality it’s gonna be wild.
I mean i cant wait to see the cold numbers how cold the map gonna be
If it isn’t as cold as Hellheim Fjordur it’s gonna be a disappointment
Well maybe not that cold, but close.
I want it volder i want it a place where you can only survive for either not for lobg or need specific devices or stuff or even tames to survive the hells depth
I want a challenge
I want the cold to be a challenge more than something annoying like the heat was in SE.
Yeah
Like even maybe a new variant called thermic variants who addapted to the cold but are nich harder to tame
More like how Aberration had it's light pets and light items to combat aberrations
I would like lc to be colder than murder murder on rag, colder or as cold as jotunheim on fjordur. There should be another game element similar to aberration that is a challenge. It should still be difficult to survive (both temperature and environment wise) if you have max fur armor/hypothermic insulation.
So can we all agree Aquatica isn’t canon
That would make it thoroughly unenjoyable tbh. Jotenheim would kill you unless you had really good fur and high fortitude. In Asa fortitude has less of an impact on temperature, so it would be worse. It would be a loop of endless dying with no way to mitigate that.
Agreed, however there should be other new factors that makes it somewhat livable. As mentioned earlier like ab, possibly certain areas aren’t “jotunheim cold” and hence more starting areas, but I believe there should be tames or new items that are critical to staying warm and alive. If there are no new game mechanics then it will definitely be a death loop.
It literally isn't
Snail tryin to ruin my favorite game storyline 😔
Thankfully, both their official doc on their website and the storepage states it isn't canon
Also, don't worry. Wildcard is doing that on their on.
Joking
We’ll see
I have faith in them to do good with Lost Colony
Arat Prime is apparently the birthplace of the ARK's, even though they're forgetting about Sanctuary.
We'll see.
- Unlocked the Santiago notes on Aberration and Extinction
New lore or was this already notes that could be explored previously?
Glitches with Santiago notes not opening (usually from the Genesis chronicles)
Speaking of, which Santiago's personality is real?
The one who regrets making the technology because it is used in a war (Ab-Ext)
OR
The one who is willing working with the Feds despite what they have done in the war (Gen2)
I would say both of them are real. Santiago on Ab-Ex doesn’t have the memories of helping the feds, but in gen2 he was helping literally to save all of humanity
I feel the opposite, because Santiago has revived and memory altered so many times in the Gen Ship, he is altered to be on the side of the Feds
Technically by Engramic Matrix rules, they're all real.
Unless you mean their memories/persepction of the past.
There is only one Santiago tho
Yes since we dont know what is going on in the Tek War and like i just stated earlier that in Genesis some memories are being altered
-OG Santiago.
-Gen2 note Santiago.
-Ab/Ext Santiago.
-ARK-2 Santiago.
ARK-2 Santiago likely doesn't have the memories of Ab/Ext Santiago. But it's all the same engramic matrix.
Same soul, different bodies.
Same engrammic matrix but got altered because it may benefit either faction
It's like the version of me who in the ARK who likes cats is unaltered while the version of me in Genesis is altered to like dogs because the feds are in dire need of bomb sniffing dog handlers
Correct.
But then with the latest version of you, if I where to be the one to resurrect you, I 'could' just reactivate every single one of your lifetimes memories and just have you have multiple lifetimes worth of experiences of liking cats but hating dogs, and liking dogs and hating cats simultaneously.
ARK-2 Santiago is a direct clone of the Gen2 note Santiago.
'Buuuuuut' if something where to happen, he could both remember the Gen2 note events 'and' the Ab/Ext Santiago memories at the same time.
It's the same Engramic Matrix just ping ponging across a multitude of fabricated memories.
But rockwell and mei's notes disproved the theory of a memory wipe before cloned into the ARK as they retained their past memories just fine
The thing is, that is just in Genesis where mind alterations are common there
Mostly because Santiago is the only character so far that has this much unnecessary complexity.
Every other character is straight forward.
Cloned Mei has the same matrix as the OG Mei.
Cloned Rockwell has the matrix of the OG Rockwell from his time.
What about Gabriel? His altered memory did not give the Feds any benefits from shoving a memory of an egyptian occultist inside of a prospector
Yep.
Pre Genesis also never established the engramic matrix, and seemingly if a clone died, they died forever.
Pre Genesis cloning was more body horror with keeping with the philosophy of "am I really me, or am I just an organism that looks 1:1 to someone else and have memories of a long dead person?"
Then Gen1 came around and decided to add the engramic matrix that acts as a sci-fi take on souls.
If I recall, Gabriel wasn't altered, he was an accidental creation.
Two engramic matrixes in one body. Acting more of a split personality disorder/amalgamation of memories.
This is why i raised a question if the memories in Gen are altered in such a way
Since in the ARK's they are the same people, they only questioned their recent experience to the point of existential dread
Hell even i questioned my past sometimes but my actions back then is no different than now
Actually, if I recall. Ab Helena does bring in the question if her memories are also altered, or even happened at all. Leaving that version of cloning really ambiguous. Leaving it up to the player if your character 'is' a 1:1 clone, a clone with just the memories of a dead person that aren't actually yours, or if they're even actually real in the first place.
Since Gaberiel is the only non-tek era survivor in Gen aside from Rockwell, we cant say for sure if it's "accidental"
Santiago explicitly said it was accidental in his Notes what lmfao
To the point where it made him feel sick, iirc
The whole cosmic horror of it
Do we know what happened to Diana after Extinction? I think she and Mei went to Arat Prime, but in its trailer only Mei Lin could be seen
That's all we know
Are there any theories? I find it hard to imagine that Mei Lin would let something happen to Diana
Nothing I can see that has any real foundation.
We'll probably have to wait till LC comes out
Aight thx
So came to the conclusion that, if we're to assume imprinting on any breedable creature is canon. That even araneo's, a spider, likely has the emotional complexity of around a IRL duck.
The survivor: “why is this spider quacking at me?”
Interesting fact, male wolf spiders make a purr-like noise to seduce females.
Animated is not a 1:1, the pinned messages here have lore or you can also watch videos yes
Pretty different from the notes outside of the very, very broadness of events.
I.E Helena first waking up on The Island, then likely going into the Hall of History afterwards.
Everything between is extremely different.
It's also not canon.
Mei cant even tame in the animated series unlike in the notes lmao
so much for the "beast queen" if she cant tame a single thing and not even have a tame army to give that title some merit
Hoping they let her tame a rock drake in season 3, assuming it gets more seasons
mei is as worse of a downgrade as rockwell
mei is just a generic mary sue in that season
Season 2 you mean?
Part 2 isn't season 2, fyi
Well, assuming the entirety of season 1 is the island, season 2 would be scorched earth, and so on
It's just the second half of Season 1.
Preview for Part 2 shows both Scorched 'and' post blown up Aberration.
So...pretty sure they're gonna skim over Scorched in just a few episodes.
This is also assuming the show even gets a season 2.
I hope it does so it can get a chance to take in the criticism and improve, but it being on P+ isn’t a good sign.
That's hard for a show.
The moment you fuck up a plotline, it's pretty damn hard to make the audience actually care about its resolution.
It's not like a game where you can just update major segments and scrap the previous version in an patch update.
You might be able to get away with specific parts, like Little Shop of Horrors did with it's multiple endings. But that's harder to do for entire plotlines.
Only way they would be able to "improve" any of the criticisms would be either somehow abandoning those plotlines for something new. Or reboot/remake season 1 completely.
Is there a book or something i can read to understand the lore ? Explorer notes aren’t working for me
The notes are probably the only reliable written way to take in the story, as there is no credited full length novel or book yet. Many have of course written Ark stories, but I haven't heard of anyone writing the story of the explorer notes in that format.
The notes are not a super long read, won't take you more than a few hours to get through. They are also the original story written for the game. But if they really really aren't working for you, you could watch Neddy the Noodles series on them, although it doesn't add anything to the notes, only visualises what we read.
I kind of wish they’d make a book that consists of all the explorer notes.
Yeah man
Yo, is there a book based on this game?
No
just the animated series but its very different to the games.
there are youtube videos of people reading the lore, I know neddythenoodle did but I think he did some interpretation which differs between people
guess neddy didn't do it. wonder who did then heard somebody did.
A ark book series would be nice
he doesnt add anything but arranged the notes to where there is a connecting context where can be useable as a series
shame he stopped at AB tho
