Souls combat requires more than just 'roll, heavy attack, light attack' shit.
There's environmental stuff that needs to apply aswell, and other gameplay mechanics.
Then there's the shit with retconning Santiago's appearance with making him into a Vin Diesel self insert that no one asked for.
And to top it all off, instead of trying to rebrand Tek and trying to make it what it should've been (QoL tier instead of weaponry and shit) they just scrapped it all.
They took the complaint of "we want day-one ARK back" too literal, and removed anything fun that was added during ARK-1's early access.

There's multiple reasons why ATLAS died.
Was too different mechanically from ARK.
Focused more on boats versus tames that people can to ARK to in the first place.
In they made a spiritual successor to ARK that also had shit like dinosaurs, taming, survival, etc. It would've been fine.

When I saw the series it was really bad tbh, I only liked the “ending” (between “” cause it isn’t an ending) but only because Nerva got a bit more of protagonism.

On, and to top it all off. The lead writer from what I can find has barely done anything else before this show.
They did like one other thing from what I've found.
If that's correct, they've got basically a novice as the lead writer.

I'm calling it now.
Nerva is going to make it to Scorched.
Rockwell is going to get tired of his abuse.
He's going to seek out Element once they do the Manticore fight, and become obsessed with it.
It'll tell him sweet little nothings to regrow his hand back, and promises of his daughter back.
He'll then poison Nerva, killing him instead of the Burning Phoenix guy, and that'll somehow gain the trust of Helena.
They'll become friends due to common interests.
But OH NO, Rockwell turns bad again during Aberration, and mutates himself.

This is all given they even reach it to Aberration, and the show doesn't flop really hard.
Cause so far, it only got like a 6.4 in most user reviews.

Thinking about the lore of Ark II and ASA, Ark II is set to release still on late 2024 (it won’t release until 2026) but let’s imagine it still is for some miracle.

The DLCS falls around that date (supposing the Ark surprise is a trailer of a map, because I doubt it’s already a map)

And knowing it’s canon, maybe we ourself land in a completely different place than the other survivors, and have a map of Arat where there is tek usage?

Well, what I'm wondering as well if if the DLC will be set as a prequel to ARK-2. Like you stated.
Would make no logical sense to not have 'something' be the cause of the lack of usable tek outside of Vin Diesel.
Vindiago might hate tek, but he can't fucking control what I can/can't do. He's one man versus entire groups full of malice.
And since ARK-2 is set an unknown amount of years after Genesis-2, we could see a pre-primitive version of Arat set right after the events of Genesis-2, and show what happened to all of the Element.
Welp, it's all gone.
Usable Element fuel would be finite on this planet. And so, people could've used too much tek during the early parts of crashing onto the planet that now, longterm wise, there's not enough Element to use for tek during the events of ARK-2.

That's always felt like something we decide on ourselves. Personally, I see my survivors journey ending on Extinction, as he helps the survivors from newly landed Arks nurture the planet. The guy on the ship feels like a different survivor

I don’t like the idea of being a different survivor really, just because the ending of Extintion, where Rockwell looks for revenge against us wouldn’t feel the same.

He said he is coming for us to get revenge, yet goes thousands of light years away to defeat hijack an space ship.

But I also don’t like the idea of us going to Genesis ship leaving Earth after fighting so hard to get back to Earth.

I’m in the same boat of preferring it to be two separate survivors. We went through so much to see Earth reborn, I’d rather the responsibility of stopping Rockwell fall on someone else

It’s kinda what I think, but I also cannot see anyone else stopping Rockwell as we’ve proven to be the ultimate survivor, and also because Rockwell did search revenge against us.

I do not like both alternatives.

A) You remain in Earth, another survivor beats Rockwell. (Feels rare to me that Rockwell didn’t come after us)

B) You travel to the Genesis ship, and Rockwell does look to get his revenge against you. (Feels bad to leave Earth after fighting so hard to return)

It would maybe explain if our character does come from a different time, like there has been much time since our original character and the actual year, that he doesn’t sees it as his home anymore.

Also, environmental storytelling needs some for of correlation to something else, to make it clear that they're connected.
While it does seem to be a Giga-like skeleton. The fact that it's 3x larger than a in-game Giga. And the same skeleton being reused three times on totally different maps kind of ruins its 'environmental storytelling' aspects.
On Aberration, it could make sense since Aberration seemed to be a form of tropical ARK before it got nuked. So Giga's could've existed, and migrated to one of the caves before they went extinct and The System just decided to stop creating them on this ARK.
But, than this makes no sense on Scorched. Where it's always been a desert ARK. And from what it seems like in-game, Giga's only appear in tropical/moist regions when not being forced to spawn.
Than you have Extinction, the map with Giga's on it and the skeletons. (as seen on The Island and Gen-2)
In this, it's hard to say that the skeletons are environmental storytelling. As now it's directly conflicting with what it's suppose to be symbolizing (Giga's) when the same creature exists on the map, but the skeletons are much larger.

Same reason why modded creatures are official now.

They had an idea of what they wanted the story to go, via the Obelisks, implants, etc. But probably needed more time to flesh it out and figure out the 'how' they wanted to implement it.

From what I understand from what he's stated with tweets and his Reddit post. It seems like ARK's story is a collaborative effort, with just the writer being there make sure all of these ideas blend together. (and for them to actually then write the notes)
It seems like ARK having a story was always intended, and with a collaborative effort (possibly Jesse/Jeremy) leaving blueprints down for a future hire (Marc Soskin) to actually put meaning to these random structures they decided to make.

So yeah, that's probably why it seems like an afterthought.

The king titan is the centre of corruption on earth, the other titans are controlled by the king. They're referred to as generals. The titans we tamed would probably stay alive until they starve, as they have been cut off from the corruption.

Rockwell was a survivor on the island who ascended to scorched earth where he slowly became obsessed with element. After going to aberration he actually had access to it so he experimented and injected himself with a mix of element and his own blood, causing him to mutate. Aberration adopted him as the overseer as it needed one after the old one got nuked.

The Island is mostly just green and orange.
Barely any grey to be seen outside of caves.
The orange mountains look really fucking ugly to me.
And the fact that the orange/sandstone-like rocks are on the mountaintops instead of grey rocks just ruins the art style to me.

I enjoy ARK due to its unique environments, not its realistic ones.
So them making it covered with perfectly fine trees instead of it being the dead island it used to be pissed me off.

They seem to think over cluttering things equals good looking. When sometimes, less is literally more artistically.
I bet you they're going to fuck up the desolate and dead feeling of the radiation zone on Aberration, or even the surface, by over cluttering it.

Those places look good due to their minimalistic use of anything, outside of what's needed.

Tek teir as a whole is broken with half finish models

The map designs are nice sure but they play the same way so maps like scorched suffer from lack of content

I wouldn’t care if we had a few things to buy but the current state of things in game right now is poor that there needs to be a balance between new content and polishing old

Aberration for example had a full 1:32 trailer launched the 1st of September, and Aberration was launched the 12th of December.

SE, Extintion, Genesis, every map had a teaser trailer which could show, more, less or the same.

But had both a teaser and launch trailer.

And I believe launch trailer released some hours before the map launched, I believe it’s the other way right now in ASA, first the map releases then the trailer.

And even better, maps used to be released at like 1 pm Washington time, so that in Europe it released at 18:00 or 19:00 depending if you are using the standard or standard +1

Are the explorer notes that you see in your interface specific to each map? Meaning if you are on the Island you will eventually fll every single note slot in that UI.

There should be an option in the top right which selects which map's notes are showing, similar to engrams. If none are selected, all should show. Does that answer your question?

It does but poses another one. If all the notes are in the UI together then the only way to collect and track them all would be to continue to use the same character as you progress through the story. Starting a fresh character on each map would wipe out the previous notes you had would it not?

You should still be able to open the notes on a character that didn't unlock them, there's just a lock over to let you know this character wasn't the one that got it. It won't count towards the extra ten levels and will be able to be unlocked again. Does that make sense?
