think about it.. in SE shows how the Overseer use the Obs to maipulate the biosphere in the ARK
the proto ARK is a smaller scale of that
There is no Overseer for the Proto-ARKs
And come to think of it
The PA's don't even have the tech to Reseed or terraform *the surrounding area
The ARKs use the pillars and Overseer Platform
Which the Proto-ARKs are lacking
That combined with being prototypes... I have poked holes in thine theory
that is why it's a theory
A game theory

So here's some food for thought. If the surface of Aberration is so deadly, why didn't we burn up as we ascended to Aberration in the first place? It's clearly daytime on Ab when you ascend to it, and if the sun is such a deadly laser on Ab, why don't we burn up while we're ascending anyway?
Same reason why we don't die from space.
We're protected by a bubble.
The bubble still persists past the biodome? Or, where the biodome would be if Ab wasn't barely hanging on to life?
I would say it hangs around till you land
Y'know what that makes sense, next topic: If the Genesis ship fabricates a body for you, how the heck did Rockwell get his element-ridden form onboard? The ship wouldn't be stupid enough to put element in a person's body
He uploaded his consciousness, and rebuilt his body from the crew members
Hmst, but where would he have gotten the element to turn himself again? If the ship fabricated him a body, the body would've been clear of the infection so he would've had to have re-infected himself to take over the ship
It didn't
I just said 'he' rebuilt his body.
You don't need space magic to melt people
But if he was trapped in the simulation...
He wasn't
He 'chose' to be in the simulation.
Easier to kill/convert survivors that're asleep then the awake ones
But if he uploaded his consciousness and didn't have a body... wtf
It's a bit convoluted.
Yeah i can tell lmao
That is what happened when writers changed
It's kinda funny that he made Rockwell having a dire vendetta against Helena even though she is no threat to his goals (he already stated that in SE)
The person he should be in his shit list is Diana
Also why is he even apologizing to Mei even though they never personally met?
Doesn't makes sense to me
How is Diana a threat?
She killed his first creation
Oh yeah facts
wait i got over 10k h never knew about any of the "lore" in this game wtf
🪓
You literally never thought the giant alien spires had anything?
......
Or the funny device in your arm? 👀
i turned all that crap off its annoying
You still use it when you open your inventory.
Or the fact that the game has a endgame, that sci-fi supply drops coming from the sky, or the visible barrier that becomes shown if you get too close to it.
yeah no i dont bother with any of that the border to me is just "no no cant go there unless..."
iykyk
Wait, so you don't bother with half of the games content with supply-drops, and the ascensions?
yeah i do the bosses and that for the levels and i grab drops if im playing boosted, but i dont think anything of it
Obvious troll is obvious
I’ve been playing for quite awhile as well and I can tell you there is a lot of people that don’t know anything about the lore. Not everyone stops to read when they pick up notes. I’ve heard this game called “rust with dinosaurs “ so many times by people that play it.
To them it’s just a big kill or be killed game
Okay, but giant metal spires are a bit of a give away
Teleporters
Nice job spamming every channel, very cool and totally not against the rules or anything...
how it should be
ark shoul focus more on pvp of the game then pve so many more people would be playing if it was like that
pve is fine but the game would get so much more attention if u couldnt mesh and if the game had a good anti cheat
and devs who actually care
they are focused on the PVP with the TLCs and Gen stuff
in return they made PVE more Trivial the "oops all bleed" is not a good PVE update
if u think gen 2 was good for pvp that just dumb
all the mats you need being endlessly available is dumb?
thats not true at all
it might of been directed to pvp
but it wasnt good
because they have to keep the PVE side of things as a consideration
the "majority PVP" playerbase is a myth when you have taken PVE + SP to account
no their is way more pve players dont get me wrong
but alot of them started pvp and got meshed god moded or just spun and went to pve
not even that, PVP is toxic AF that put off people
This has nothing to do with lore, on top of being silly and just downright wrong on some accounts, please take the know-it-all PvP mindset elsewhere
the game was clearly never meant to have pvp to begin with, as it was only added bc people kept crying for it. and people cry that a originally pve only survival game focuses more on pve 🤣
Which is, hilariously enough, completely false. Nerfs to creatures simply wouldn't happen if it was PvE centered, because no one on PvE gives a fuck if things are busted or not, they're just happy they get new tames lmao
But anywho
Lore lore lore, I am lore (please get the reference)
we just want shiny toys to play with in the sandbox world
Don't state your own theories as fact.
There is nothing to even hint at this, besides him using AP.
What info we DO have, is the fact that Rockwell can 'build himself a new body', as stated in his new dialogue.
As in 'I'm gonna make myself a new form, one that has a gross neckbeard'.
It doesn't necessarily matter either. Rockwell got onto the ship, and that's that.
Doesn't matter if he supposedly 'melted people', hid inside the ship in his Ab form, etc.
He's on the ship, and now he's TURNING IT into MEAT
Not anymore though, with a whiff of nuclear fusion he went
🛎️
i watched some lore vids and now im all overloadde with info 😭
Who's?
E
something noodle
Did you watch the new recaps, by chance?
nah just the 2 about rockwell

he did one of the island and scorched earth, but no aberation
Aberration Part 2 is coming soon.
You should totally watch the recap series, too.
I say this because I did a lot of the writing on them.
We're just finished getting Rockwell's notes on ab... Partner is questioning if he got what he deserved?
But she might be partial as it was in Tennant's voice.
Yes and No on the deserving part.
The man was a psychopath, but wasn't irredeemable on The-Island.
It was the moment he grew an obsession with the artifacts is when he went downhill.
And this then goes into theory territory.
Cause on one hand, he could've just been obsessed over the artifacts.
But on the other, artifacts are tek-based objects emitting high energy. Which said energy is obviously Element (since everything tek-based has traces of Element, it's what makes tek.)
So he could've gotten obsessed over it not due to greed, but due to the existing hivemind Element has, and could've been using him as a pawn.
So personally, 'yes' if he was just a greedy obsessed old-man.
But 'no' if he was just an ass that got played like a fiddle by the hivemind.
Yeah I understand where that's coming from. It's kind of the equivalent of someone getting hooked onto 'something', just with hivemind aesthetic.
Through, whatever he injected that Diana had to kill off. All I can imagine is a poor shinehorn with buff legs.
Ooooh no, it's worse
There's a picture of it.
I was driving the skiff. Didn't have time to look. Now I have to go check. 😅😅
It's basically a scrawny, burnt deathclaw.
Oh jeebus I just looked at it..
Family that’s what
Santiago was injected with element and he turned into vin diesel
we all know element can bring about changes on the molecular level, so it isn't impossible
He needed to beat some sense into a certain power armor ninja
All because Rockwell got lost in the sauce
wait so in ark extinction they took back earth... but then in gen pt1 main character is in a ship?! how did he get there?
The player character can be the same Survivor or a new one, it's up for interpretation. But as for the more grounded and popular (and possibly even canon) interpretation, the Survivor goes to Arat Prime, the launch site of the Genesis ship, where there's a superluminal uplink to the ship and is uploaded to it (superluminal just means that the data and furthermore the connection to the ship is almost unlimited, as it's connection is FTL or faster than light, and can be detected lightyears away.) The evidence of this interpretation is found in the Genesis pass reveal stream and following trailers, as well as in Extinction at one point, but the Homo-Deus text you could read in Sanctuary while using a tek helmet's visor function was removed for some reason.
There's a big gap between the two, but in short. Rockwell made his way onto the ship and we (either a new survivor, or the survivor from Extinction, up to you) have to go onto the ship and finish what he started
Oh yeah, there's also the part about Rockwell and how Aberration fell to Earth near Arat Prime, forgot that bit
You forgor
Which subsequently allows him time to upload himself to the ship to escape the cleansing of Earth's element (himself included) via the Reseed Protocol
oooh, i just got confused bc we wake up in a pod filled with preserving liquid so yeah
Yeah, Extinction and Genesis 1-2 are separate stories. So there's some continuity errors
OOOOOOOOOOOh ok that's werid
Yeah.
The Island - Extinction are referred to as the (Earth saga, or Corruption saga)
While Genesis 1-2 are referred to as the (Genesis saga, or Rockwell saga)
Or I've heard a few people calling it the "ARK-2 saga" since Genesis 1-2 are more of direct prequels to ARK-2 then anything else really.
Basically ye but I prefer the first 4 as the "ARK saga" as the story takes place in and out of the ARKs themselves while the "Gen saga" takes to the Ship itself
"in and out"
Mazzy, with that definition you can literally count the whole fucking series as the 'ARK saga'
i have limited short words for me to describe where "just the ARKs and The ARKs in Earth/ProtoArks" while i am on my phone
I have never referred to the island through extinction with those names
Ark’s original story is the Soskin Saga
Me personally, I use "Legacy Saga" and "Genesis Saga"
Mainly because that's what the two are referred to as on the store pages
Legacy Season Pass and Genesis Season Pass yadda yadda
Didn't ask
The first bit and the second bit has always worked for me.
"Ark: Survival Evolved" is usually my go to naming convention for the whole of the first game because I don't give a shit about saga this or that
Separating between the two isn't a bad thing.
There is a decently difference between the Marc's storyline, and the Genesis storyline, for them to be separate.
And while the entirety of ARK-1's story is stopping Element, one way or another.
The first 4 maps where dedicated of surviving the ARK's, and revealing the truth of them actually trying to stop the infestation. But due to how fucked the ARK-system is, we had to take the fight into our own hands.
Genesis 1-2 are more about stopping Rockwell then anything to do with the ARK's or Corruption, since that storyline has been concluded. Trying to stop what Helena couldn't finish.
Literally didn't ask, it's all the first game still and one continuous story lol
You know what?
Fair.
But I also didn't ask that you didn't ask.
Well now, that's just nonsense
He's evil.
Not only is he a horrendous monster, but he's killed many by Aberration, and possibly hundreds by the end of Genesis.
He thinks he's meant to reshape humanity into his own image, and he can save us from ourselves.
But he's doing it in the most destructive, evil way possible. Plus we like... don't wanna be flesh zombies.
Nerva is more typical PVP tribe leader
Rockwell committed a lot of warcrimes from literal insiding, offhand infantacide, to turning a lightpet into a monster
He has literally killed hundreds, if not thousands on the Genesis-ship
Technically our kill count is way higher than that
We destroyed that entire ring which most definitely still had loads of uncorrupted people on it
Press X to doubt
It seems likely to me at least we woke up in the second ring due to the whole tentacle thing
Well, yeah, but everyone in that room where the cutscene takes place were already infected or in the process by the time Gen 2 starts, and we can assume that most other sections are like that
Wasn't there just like one pod with minor corruption?
And as we slowly lock Rockwell out of all of the subsystems he would've lost access to the ability to mess with any of the people that were still sleeping
Unless theres some lines or something im missing that contradicts that i feel like its safe to assume we sacrificed a lot of people
I also don't get why Rockwell couldn't just storm the safe ring...
If we can jump through space naked to the other side he surely could just like send his corrupted people across
Because we constantly trying to stop his advances
Plus his corrupted humans are only spawn in the Terminus area
You don't see them in the meat biome
Yeah but thats like a Rockwell problem
We arrived on the sixth day of him creating the corrupted humans
Surely he had more than the like 30 in the control room
You take everything he says literally, and you're gonna have a bad time
It's biblical reference as well, lol
It can be both though
I think if i was Rockwell I could've done it better
Like one obviously smash arat prime to shit before i leave so no one can follow me?????
I hate how plot for things works it just never makes any sense
But then again how did Rockwell even know about Arat Prime and its purposes
Element Omniscience
The system or members of it (i.e. the Overseers) were aware of Arat Prime, I'd imagine
Yup yup
Anyone know what the Lore of Ark 2 is going to entail
its a patched up game from 2015, the Scorched earth part never even dropped untill this year and that was released before game left beta. i dont think ur meant to 100% understand it,
F a m i l y
what's the lore behind some of the titans having a human-ish body shape
Infused with element which was utilised by humans for a period
Thicc vine diesel
Spelled wrong, oh well
That hasn't even been hinted at.
Yet, I wouldn't complain if that was the answer.
It's a decent theory, I'll give it that. Though it kind of falls apart when you look at the Desert Titan, and the Ice Titan is VERY loosely humanoid.
And they aren't infused with Element.
They are Element through and through.
Who the fuck told you that?
I could see the lesser-titans that where in the notes to be this. Since they where very humanoid.
But besides that, I can't see it.
i made it up nerd
Ahh, so you have no idea what you're talking about then.
No no no
Duh i speak to women
His source is that he made it the fuck up
TRUE!
I love the website WWW.IMadeItTheFuckUp.com
I never know what im talking about but i still make points sometimes
Could somebody DM me a video of all the ark lore? Idc how long it is I just really want to know it haha. (Im broke af so i aint got the story maps lmfao)
i have one but in french so i don't think you want it
Probably not
Neddy the Noodle in YouTube currently at Ab at the moment

Debatable
The Arks were explicitly developed as part of a different but related project to the one that created the Genesis ship, as explained in Genesis 2 survivor notes. When Rockwell assumed control of Aberration, it's reasonable he gained access to that information, and uploaded himself or whatever after it crashed to Earth.
King Titan is a godzilla, Ice Titan is some sort of weird bear/dinosaur/gorilla hybrid, Forest Titan is a tree, Desert Titan is a majestic flying desert flap flap. I'm not sure where "humanlike" comes into the equation
He means humanoid, in his strange, sarco obsessed way
As in, two feet, two arms, a head
The basic defining features of most life on Earth 🤣
forest titan looks like a wooden human
What
forest titan has pvp character proportions
He kinda does, but that's the most humanoid of them all.
The Ice Titan isn't horribly humanoid, just because it can balance on two legs doesn't make it humanlike.
And the Desert Titan is just a massive sand pancake.
The ice titan looks like my dog
..Of all the things Magmasaurs eat... Why, whilst raising them, do they prefer eating Astrocetus Ambergris???
Now bare in mind I don't have either Genesis 1 or 2.. But I was under the assumption that the Astrocetus live in an entierly different Biome than Magmasaurs-
it's a similation. dinos are generated by ships systems. magmasaur eating ambergriss wass made to challenge/annoy players
...Aww... I was hoping for something better I was hoping that wasn't the case... XD
Oh well..!
He's half right and wrong
We don't know 'why' they'd want something from an alien, since the Astro-creatures are actually native to space.
But Magmasaurs do exist outside of the simulation.
..Maybe it shares the same chemical composition or induces the same nutrients as sulfur..?
It could!
Or they have such strange tastebuds that they find it conformable?
Hmmmm..
Well Ambergris is described as Waxy...
And I don't think they're really texture sensitive-
This is ARK.
Waxy can = Gordan Ramsey cooking to a Magmasaur
Ambergris, ambergrease, or grey amber is a solid, waxy, flammable substance of a dull grey or blackish colour produced in the digestive system of whales, Physeter macrocephalus Specifically, I can't say the real name cause the Bot Censors the name XD
So it's not like Ambergris is a fictional substance
So maybe something about the IRL Substance that I can use to help connect Dots, the Flammability of it might have a hand in it?
Maybe it helps them produce their fire blasts or fuel their internal fire...
This is ARK.
You're trying to add logic to something that was most likely a simple "oh, our new creature is a space whale. And whales produce ambergris. So lets make that the good for baby lava-lizards"
..no need to stifle my creativity, bro..
I mean yes, the answer might be that simple, but it's still fun to try and guess and make one's one theories
How am I stifling your creativity?
I'm just saying this is ARK, a game that has great lore but isn't something like Fallout where they leave a lot of hints for their community to make theories upon theories.
I 'encourage' you to theorize, cause that means your more adamite of the games lore then they allowed the writer to produce.
But I'm just stating a fact that there's most likely no connection between the two in reality.
Sorry, but It sounded like you were trying to
It did exist out? Was it made by the arks then? I remember something about it being on SE but don't totally remember
They where made originally for the ARK's, but where later on placed within the simulation.
Ohhhhh ok that makes sense
I used to know all the lore more than my own name, need a refresher 😭
TRUE, we don't feed them with just any food, it's 'comfort food' iirc
So perhaps they just like it
I mean my kitty would eat wagyu all day if he could
Even though he's never tasted it
Probably just really good to them
It could also be nice to chew on.
He's a troll, don't listen to anything he says. We don't know why they prefer it, but it was probably bioengineered as such, seeing as how the magmasaur is known to be made up for the Arks/simulation via the Genesis Chronicles notes, where it was "tested" on Scorched, either in the simulated version of it or the real one (we don't know which.)
He, on the other hand, is a terse man, don't take anything he says too harshly, lol
Hello, something got me thinking, how many titans were there during the events prior to our arrival in extinction? I heard that santiago had a major hand in taking out the rest of them, leaving the four remaining ones to the rest of us. Correct me if I'm wrong.
There were possibly thousands, we don't know. More than 4, though, if that helps 😅
Thank you, yeah, the lore doesn't specify how many titans actually were there. Just wanted to make sure, either way, Santiago is hell of a bad ass.
Helena-Deus fixed it for us, somehow, so it'd work with only 3 meks and a single pilot. Don't ask me how it works, Helena-Deus is beyond understanding, as is element lol
Edit, idk why I thought it only took 3 meks, that was false. Apologies. Very tired.
I haven't read Dianas notes on extinction yet except for like the last two but i feel like it would be mentioned in there
If you've watched pacific rim its like that except the load is meant to be distributed amongst 4 people instead of 2
But don't ask me how Diana eats 3 peoples worth of brain power being used without burning her brain to a crisp instantly
Then like pikmin said the one who waits did some magic on it to make it to where we could control it with the power of a single bob brain for us to use and finish the job
Wat
Is there a lore reason why the mega mek only works around the alpha king titan?
Yes
May I ask for you to elaborate or will I just have to be satisfied that the answer exists somewhere?
I will elaborate because you asked, I wasn't sure if you wanted it spoiled or not lol. But long story short, the thing is coded to work that way because of the immense power draw that it has, and so that it is only used against opponents worth using it against (titled "Omega-level threats")
Nice, thank you. I love how much game mechanics are explained with ark.
I think extinction would've been way easier and Helena just recoded it so we could have it all along
Well for one, it took her quite awhile to get people to respawn, second there was technically no way to access Extinction outside of Aberration (pretty sure respawning on Extinction ain’t canon), and lastly if we could access it instantly you wouldn’t have had the same knowledge going into to saving earth that you would have after going through the ARK’s
Didn't Diana respawn on extinction?
I imagine its the same premise, just utilizing the protoarks and obelisks
Also i just meant her having it ready for us by extinction, not the entire time on all the arks, like i just feel like she couldve made it way more idiot-proof
And we also could've fixed it way faster
i take complete fault for my complete diverging path lol, I infact did not use my eyes to read apparently
it does seem so, but i legit don't understand how or why... like yeah technically it could be the protoarks, but why would the creators kit them out for human cloning if they then decided to shoot for making the arks in the atmosphere
If she could have she would have
Helena was working with a lot of constraints, and the megamek wasn't something she designed in the first place
sides the megamek would have been so much less awesome if you could just use it all the time instead of in the pivotal climatic fight with Climate Change Godzilla
very true, and like Pikmin mentioned it ran on a lot of power, which wouldn't be sustainable for long. Although tinkering with it to create a machine that could be manned by one person is understandable, deriving a complete other power source to use that wouldn't be as intensely used would be hard
I think it was modified about as much as it could have been
Santiago designed it to be piloted by four people, Diana and Mei Yin managed to get it to work for two, and I assume Helena managed to get it down to one
But i imagine that one pilot is under immense strain even if the player character doesn't show anything about it because the player character is a faceless emotionless meat puppet
Diana and Mei Yin barely got it to work on 2
It still needed 4 Diana just decided to make her brain cover the power of 3 brains
Thats why i say they most likely didn't make it far after striking the king titan before dying
She was begging for an aneurysm and a half
"However, I have made one slight alteration. When it was first conceived, it took four sets of hands to wield this weapon properly. Now a single pilot can use it with ease - one warrior controlling the power of four souls."
The survivor got it easy😭
To be fair for the energy thing isn't there literally element everywhere in extinction like it could probably siphon it from the air levels?
I still wanna know which ark it is that lands next to sanctuary
It looked like the island to me but it could've been literally any other of the islands
We have no evidence that element has a gaseous form, so that might not be possible
Not gas, spores
There is no evidence that element has spores either
We only see it in liquid form on ab in the radiation, but it's a solid everywhere else
Idk when I've seen it talked about in here its been referred to as spores
I am pretty sure that is fan theory, I don't recall ever seeing anything Canon about element spores
It required hundreds of years of tek war to infect the earth. It might not be able to do anything without other creatures helping it along
The only reason people thing spores is because element has some slight similarities to fungi, but that doesn't mean it is one.
Id say its much much more similar to mold
Raq...
There is literally direct text that says element has/gives off spores
😅
Raq....
I thought you where better then this?
They've flat out fucking stated 'in-game' that Element releases spores, and that what we see when we power up a tek-gen 'IS' the spores
Raq....
Oh, right, I forgot that lol
Raq....
Gimme a break, I am tired and my brain isn't working
What the fuck? 🤣
A break?
In here?!
Nah, you don't get any
I was waiting for someone else to come along to correct that cuz i wasn't about to say anything without knowing where its said😭
And as for respawning on Extinction, that is canon, somehow. We just don't know what we use to respawn, but it's probably a combination of the proto-arks obelisks and Sanctuary's weird terminal system/obelisk
I thought The-One-Who-Waits stated we use Sanctuary's obelisk to respawn?
I don't remember, just woke up lol
Fair
already noted it above
What note does it say element produces spores?
and yeah it's totally fine if she said that, but basing off the ARK's obelisks don't create life, there is cloning chambers of both dinos and humans
Yeah idk, I don't remember where it's stated that the tech to allow us to respawn on Ext is, I just know I heard it at some point...
i totally respect the fact that it's probably stated somewhere, but like i also mentioned the obelisks didn't just create life, and seeing as the protoarks are just that, they more then likely wouldn't be fitted with human cloning chambers
Yeah, I get that
But they would have to have fabrication chambers somewhere, to spawn the dinos as they do, right?
Having dino cloning in the protoarks makes some sense, cause they were the first testing grounds of the ARK’s
But if there was human cloning accessible, then you would imagine she would spawn as many as you could there
But it’s always the people from the ARK’s she talks about
Also I did a light scan over the notes (meaning it’s entirely possible I missed it) and I couldn’t find anything properly talking about it. Closest I got was The One Who Wait’s mentioning how she was testing, but moved to the ARK’s so she had more ready access to subjects to test
Was it even really human cloning? Were the humans on the Ark grown or were they fabricated?
And if they were fabricated does that mean they aren't actually human....
Biologically, you'd still be human.
You'd still have the same DNA as your real counterpart.
Hmmmm
But like if meat gets grown in a lab and they say its cow im not gonna see that as a cow im gonna see that as weird lab meat
Human in form and with the same dna but is it really human if it doesn't go through the same growing process?
Then that's on you.
If it has the same DNA and building blocks of a cow, it's a cow.
Just a cow not born from a womb
Yes.
They're still biologically humans.
And they're undeniably human.
The moral question that you should be asking isn't 'if they're human.'
But 'if a clone shares the same memories as you, are they you?'
So what you're saying is we should try and clone Bill Clinton
Yes!
Good idea I'm in
Why bill Clinton of all people
Why not
I mean, he did get game of the year dedicated to him, must be a cool guy, right?
I hear he's also an orthodox rabbi priest or something...
I would place Bill Clinton in the top 100 of people id wanna clone
Just because i think itd be funny
Anyways, the problem with the respawning on Extinction is that there's no other humans that have made the journey (and lived, let alone after Helena-Deus figured out the respawn mechanic) to pull from, remember that Extinction and the Arks are not connected at this point in the timeline, the link is blocked by King Titan and/or element corruption. So, until we get there, there's no one to actually benefit from the respawning on Extinction, if that makes sense
Humans being cloned too is a critical part of a lot of the story
Santiago loses his shit over finding the human vats in Aberration, and he and a bunch of the other staff on the Genesis ship being engramed recreated humans and how unhappy they are about that is pretty much the entire story of his Gen2 notes
Honestly whos to say she couldnt have repurposed dino cloning chambers for us even if there weren't any
Also he pretty much constantly has a crisis over it in Extinction until he gets over it
Even ignoring all that- The fact that the Arks are full of 19th century chemists, 24th or whatever century spacemen, ancient egyptians, and so on all living together is pretty clear proof that shenanigans of that nature are afoot
... Also they straight up show you that's going on in the leadup to the Overseer arena, where you see a hologram... thingy showing various humans shortly after you see one with dinosaurs
But chances are if the arks were prototypes and the obelisks weree prototypes they probably had prototype dino chambers and human chambers that were at least semi functional
We were just talking about extinction not the regular ark's
oh lol
The respawning on extinction is still canon- The whole point of the One Who Tries Again is that they do try again until they succeed, if they get ded
For respawning in sanctuary and the sunken forest im not really sure if it makes sense but the proto arks make sense
They probably had some kind of fabrication system in sanctuary
The sunken forest is just.... Sunken
I still refuse to believe anything except us coming down in the sunken forest protoark and it failing as we arrive and collapsing
Even though according to the notes im pretty sure the gateway explicitly beamed them into the city-
Wait no i just rewatched it im just an idiot
Its just the dome over sanctuary failing
I hate how they don't try at all to make the cutscenes and the ingame map lineup
They did, though? The cutscene at the end of Aberration takes us directly to the green Sanctuary obelisk, lol
It's super obvious on purpose
Yeah, nothing is red or anything, but that's just visuals. The big implant shaped... thing is still right where it was in the cutscene, as are the big vent things
But theres the big metal thing there thats like way off towards the sunken forest right next to the ob
I have no idea what you mean, lol
The weird little metal arch thing
Tyhat not visible from inside sanctuary unless i just don't remember extinction at all
Sunken forest is like right to the right of the implant structure, iirc
The ark world is just an evolution experiment created by Aliens to test the human
Nope
It's confirmed in Extinction that the ARKs are made by people from the future
Oh ok
😭
Okay so technically
Ark could entirely be a simulation with genesis being a simulation inside of a simulation
But that would quite possibly be the worst plot writing anyone could ever make
Ark 2's conclusion: Santiago wakes up in an Alien spacecraft and says "ahhh, revived again"
Lol
I think i wrote a story like that on a standardized test in like 7th grade
I wrote this whole massive plot and it just ended with a guy waking up from a dream
Who would win Vin Diesel from Ark or The Rock from Fortnite 😰
Vindiago ftw?
Why was Santiago in Extinction presented as a nerd, geek, intelligent and computer technician guy, and suddenly in Genesis he is…well….Vin Diesel?
You know vin is the actor for santiago right?
Yeah i know, but it doesnt match at all with How he was in Extinction
Ig. But we didn’t see much if his personality at the end of genesis

In Extinction he’s The type of guy who likes pop culture and Things like that, thats what i mean, then suddenly in The Ark 2 trailers he is like a caveman
Hes on an alien planet ofc hes gonna be like a caveman 😂
I love the take where, the "new" Santiago, in all his 5 seconds of glory that we've seen, is suddenly just not Santiago 🤣
Fr
Like, did you do a psyche eval on both Santiagos or am I missing something
We barely saw him talk too
And the whole picture in the drawing book angle is iffy at best, not to mention completely artistic interpretation of those who drew him in the first place
Wait
Since when did it shift from "Wahhhhh wahhhhh Santiago in ARK 2 is just Vin Diesel wahhhhh wahhhhh"
To "We haven't even seen much of him, let's give it until we actually see him in ARK 2."
I mean in a general sense

Must I say it in Chinese
I've always been of this stance, so idk what you're referring to. I have no reason to hate the casting of the character, unlike the whiners that have descended upon the discord in years past
Whiners that, may I remind you, haven't even watched one of the various films he's been in, to say the least
He doesn't fit the stereotypes, but that isn't necessarily bad.
Fair enough
He's definitely different in Gen2. And he seems a bit more badass in the ending too. But I don't dislike him.
I'm exited for this new Santigo.
I'm excited to finally see Santiago for the first time too
Same in Ab
Diana notes already described his likes
I mean he is still is literally Vin Diesel
No change in that, I will never call him Santiago
Because the Santiago in Ab is a different verient of the "Santiago" in Gen
So you are telling me his own image in Ext note is a lie?
And also with Helena, do you think all her drawings including dossiers are a lie as well, all because her interpretation of Santiago doesn't looked like Vin Diesel? 🤔
She would've fangirling and starstrucked ||(like you all are tbh lol)||if that was the case
Really? How did that happen?
Aside from "change of writers"
The Feds want their "betterer" Santiago that is a bootlicker and loyal to the Federation hence his body is mixed with Vin Diesel (that's the theory on why he looked like Vin Diesel)
In fact their 2nd version of Santiago has a mohawk and a goatee(?)
In Ab/Ext he is a shut in
I don't get the hype about Vin Diesel the way I don't get the hype about Adam Sandler
They didn't mix his body with Vin
I hope that's a joke theory

No... no Santiago Shin Diesel soup.
better than "Vin IS the OG Santiago" when Gabriel and some Egyptian guy in his head exists
mf just came out different from the cloning pods bc the Feds wanted to and somehow they made all his clones like that.
have fun as i purposely stoke the fires again ☕
Actual explanation:
It's just original Santiago. He's bald because he just got revived.
He doesn't even look horribly unlike original Santiago, it's just the bald bean head. (Sorry Vin.)
I can't imagine he SOUNDS like original Santiago at all though.
Regardless, the funky explanation:
Santiago's consciousness was placed in Vin's body because Uma wanted to do a little trolling.
Uma's experimentation made him bald due to radiation lol
he's got element poisoning, no wonder he wants to get red of tek bc element made his hair never grow back
I wanna slap a slice of wyvern cheese down on his forehead
thanks for watching
Don’t knock vin too hard. He has logged 1000 hours in ark with his son. He’s a huge fan of the game and he approached WC to be in the second game.
He may not be the Santiago we wanted but he’s the one we deserve 😁
i'd rather it be someone that has a passion for it to join and try to shape it to be better than just ''voice actor for funny character'', and yes it's fun to know Vin has played Ark and cares about the game
Absolutely
i like that Vin is passionate about it, but i'm not entirely sure about him being Santiago just yet. mainly bc most we've seen of him was during the Genesis Part 2 end teaser and Ark 2 teaser trailers where he doesn't say much (he only has like 4 lines total) and most if it is currently just generic action or family man quote. it could easily develop his character better in Ark 2's story tho, but we've got to wait to see how that turns out
Well I’d still it rather be some one who’s invested some time in the game rather then someone like the rock just cause he’s popular
jokes on you, the rock will be the secret human antagonist
Bald men fighting like pachys
Lol
I don't like him because hes the reason Wildcard found out about the feroxs taming with berries so fast
god forbit he wants to fix bugs in Ark
But it was a fun ark buggggg
i compare him to Henry Cavill with The Witcher
you know why i like Henry more than Vin
because Henry is passionate about the source material than Vin's "tee-hee me want be bob in funny dino game" to the point where Henry decided to leave Netflix Witcher because of how the writer massacred his boy
hell Henry looked like Geralt more than Henry unlike "Vin Diesel as Vin Diesel"
Henry is more Lore Nerdz to the Witcher than Vin does to ARK
Vin just plays 1k hours and choose a random name, not knowing this name has significant lore value before Gen
'we deserve'
Don't put us on such a low pedestal.
very very low
I'll give him a chance in ARK-2, but I'm just saying.
I personally would've preferred Ryan Reynolds much, much more as Santiago.
same after detective pikachu
Like, does his natural smartass humor not suit someone like Santiago?
i doubt giving him a chance tho when most of vin's roles are grunts
no, i was trying to say i am convinced after that movie
And I was agreeing with that statement, and asking "would his smartass nature not suit Santiago?"
he can be but his pikachu roles are more suited for Santiago
He was a pretty big smartass in detective pikachu
A bit toned down, since it was still a PG-film.
But still seeped out sometimes.
the Mr Mime interrogation is the best bit
Best scene in the movie
remember Santiago is meant to be a shut-in until Diana broke the ice
And he's a bit of an ass when he does talk
right
The comment was regarding the fact that we deserve a player who is invested in the story to play Santiago instead of an actor that looks like Santiago but knows nothing of the story or the character. I won’t dispute Vin doesn’t resemble Santiago as the character or in appearance. Just saying he’s better then someone else just for the fact that they are popular. We deserve an invested individual even though it’s not the individual we want.
an actor that looks like Santiago but knows nothing of the story or the character
that is literally Vin Diesel lol
he is not even "well invested" in a sense
if he does, he would understand his character better... you know "reading explorer notes" like the rest of us
When did he ever stated he cared about the story?
I know people with 4k+ hours that didn't even knew ARK had a story.
And you don't need to know the story to play a role. That's literally what 'acting' is.
That's the writers job to know what the source material is.
He plays on pve with his son. He’s become familiar with the lore and the story. He may not be a pro but give the guy some credit. He loves the game enough to have approached wildcard about it.
Yeah, I'll give what's his name that played Master-Chief in the Halo show some credit, since he played the source games.
Doesn't mean he was a good Master-Chief. 💀
Yeah. People seem to forget he's a real person, and just dog on him because either they don't like him, or they don't like his role.
It's whatever.
i mean so does any "insert hollywood actor here"

Don't hate the player (literally) and don't hate the game (literally)
I have now successfully stoked the fire, so I shall now watch JoJo.

Spart literally kinda disproved your point
just because a famous name plays this character doesnt mean it's good
What wild card has stated "He understands the game intimately and is providing direct feedback to the development process," says Studio Wildcard in their press release.
Ah yeah, give me an example in which he acts bad in ARK 2
Oh wait
We haven't even seen the bloke
Besides yknow ARK 1 which was an admittedly goofy ass one liner
Issue is, until more confirmation of who's working on what for ARK-2. We don't know if it was Peter-Fries choice, Vin's, or someone like Jesse that decided that Vin would play as Santiago.
Yes, he's a good actor. Yes, he's a real person.
But some people just don't fit some roles for specific jobs.
We'll see how he does in any form of gameplay/when the game comes out, and I'm willing to give him that chance.
"Respawned again"
-voice acted by a sentient bag of gravel
he change the character in his image literally, instead of be like Henry and actually respect the character that the fans loved
He literally doesn't NOT look like Santiago except for the hair
Which can easily be explained by cloning
All we have seen of actual Santiago is obscured facial profiles, which albeit are a tad slimmer, and yes, he has hair, but it's really nothing you can't pass off.
The only thing you CAN'T, is the voice.
And we've already been through this with Tennant, he sounds younger than actual Rockwell, yet his performance was good, and at this point I'm used to it.
Santiago's maturation must be dropped if his voice is that deep for his age but i digress

And we haven't even HEARD Santiago from before, so... not saying he sounds like talking gravel, but I'm not saying he DOESN'T
H-tai moaning "death" sounds
I just want a URE Idol reference, and he's greenlight in my book
Ah yes, my reaction to being hungry
"AhhHauwuh"
I know you heard the actual sound in your head
The roar being reused was
Bad
But other than that he's good
The way he says "SSSsssantiAGO" is very funny to me
"Sahnt ee agow"
i really really need to re-read Rockwell's notes because he barely personally interact with the main authors except for Helena and a bit of Diana when she killed his first pet project off it's misery
Just saying, the only reason why I'm so adamite about this shit, is cause I don't want ARK-2 to become the new "Halo show: The-Video-Game"
Where it literally changes everything the source material established, for the worse.
One big problem about Santiago’s revival though
Fries infers Helena revived him at the end of Gen 2
If this is accurate I'm going to end myself
I think it was confirmed in the Genesis-2 chronicles.
It wasn't
i meaaan
this is why i dont trust outside info for lore stuffs
damn it
If that's just thrown away then
Like WHY can she suddenly now
And isn't she supposed to be GONE??
Santiago's death is for nothing
great now i despise Vin Diesel more and i cant wait to give him a million stab wounds in ARK 2
ARK 2 guys, chill
That's another issue, is that I question some of the Genesis-2/chronicle lore.
Which doesn't leave me hopeful for ARK-2, since Peter is the 'lead' writer for it.
What about it
The Chronicle info is canon
Getting it isn't
That's what's been widely decided
Like the information itself is accurate
But we never actually go out to the ARKs and crap to get it, it wholeheartedly destroys continuity
No, no, no. I mean the writing itself.
I never really liked the notes of Genesis-2 that much, personally.
same is like what is going on?
at least Gen 1 is memorable because it has almost 0 involvement with the main characters
Actually Gen 1 is memorable for bad reasons
I don't think Fries was actually on the team then
It had no writer, it was aimless
'Rockwell bad, here's some background info, like uhhh we have pirated copies of Rick and Morty on the Genesis-Ship yippee'
But wait wait, we'll make it glaringly obvious that it's Edmund, but poorly tease you on it the entire DLC
To the point where it's annoying on subsequent playthroughs
Honestly, still prefer Genesis-1 over Genesis-2
TBF i like the jab backs on the players in the tidbits that feels like we are involved compared to The One Who Waits
Gen 2 had a direction, less filler, more questions answered. Albeit not every question, but enough.
the direction in Gen 2 is everywhere
Here's my take:
Gen 1 was ehhh filler without a proper writer
Gen 2 was a good conclusion
it's like it has an overpowering A plot and a overpowering B plot
Gen 1 is boring and has zero direction, but had some admittedly interesting yet random points that were never built upon
Gen 2 is interesting and is a wonderful conclusion and bridge to ARK 2, but leaves some plot holes and has continuity errors
compare it to SE, the A plot (Nosti) and the B plot (Rockwell/Helena) fits perfecty
Ext and Scorch has the best storytelling in my opinion.
Gen 2 is all over the place
The A Plot is like:
"Santiago is what now?"
"he made a stryder.... cool?, Chekov's Gun i guess?"
"wait he has a frie~ ooh he dies"
"so you are telling me the "guy who knows Tek" gets bested and abused by a transhuman"
"Santiago gone unceremoniously"
mean while the B plot is like:
"cool a modder as a protag"
"cool an ancient prospector as a posse"
"wait he's bipolar? how?"
"????" (seriously this part is forgettable aside from "they used a stryder for something")
"oh the prospector sacrificed himself to let the modder finish the separation code thingy but why do we need HNLA for this?"
"where the hecc is HLNA in all of these?"
i should be working in CinemaSins
A: To be fair, ARK's lore as a whole is all over the place.
B: CinemaSins? Ew
It's an artistic interpretation of him, yes. A rather shoddy one, too, blurry as all hell
Not lore related, but I fucking love the feeling of a ice-cold root-beer going down my throat and foaming mid-process of going down.
Actually and literally the other way around
🤡 take, that was a horrid bug and I'm glad he whistleblew on that
Do you like root-beer, bruice?
Gen 1 -
Tons of filler, makes up 90% of the notes
Random HLN-A "funnies" that make me want to gouge my eyeballs out with sporks
A bad main villain
Gen 2 -
Explains the world around us, i.e Santiago made the Stryders
Wrapping up ARK 1
Kick-ass final boss with a super cool bossfight
Still wished Rockwell-Prime was harder
Yeah, but I do like how forgiving the fight is.
It's fun to rerun a bunch.
And if you screw up, the penalty is naught.
Alpha is gatekept by a shitastic mission, don't forget.
That's exactly what I 'don't' want from a boss fight.
Personally, MCM was peak ARK boss
MCM bossfight looked really cool, and was very interactive. As was RWP. I prefer RWP though, the music is amazing, the environment is genuinely scary and it feels quite tense on your first time through.
But ten billion style points to CMC for not having Alpha Downriver.
The worst thing to come to ARK, that still goes unfixed.
To complete it on console is...
Near impossible.
But I digress.

I mean in balance if difficulty.
Whaddya mean
My genuine reaction
You just need x-amount of missions for the MCM, and you can do him infinitely.
But he's arguably one of the hardest boss in the game, with the mixture of the interactivity that you need to do with RWP.
If they jacked RWP's stats a bit higher, and made his minions scale with the difficulty (since they don't) then the fight would've been a lot more interesting, personally.
I love hard final-boss fights, it gives me the actual feel that this 'has' to be done to finish a threat as big as this.
The Corrupted Survivors do iirc
And they can seriously fuck you up either way
They're half the difficulty though
Roll quick, the fuck do the Summoners do?
They summon more Corrupted Survivors
Nah, they spawn either way.
I've tested this and killed all of the summoners, and they'll still spawn
Mhm don't they like crawl out of the ground
They spawn any corrupted creature
he's a push over
Not in the bossfight.
Yes.
Which don't require the summoners to do so, they'll just do it anyway.
Oh in the boss fight
It's their spawn animation
Ye they summon those like human thingies
How much ya wanna bet it's yoinked from Atlas
But they don't?
Again, I tested this and the corrupted survivors will still spawn
100%
It looks like the same animation
They don't need to be there to spawn them, they spawn more.
They'll spawn either way, the Summoners are meant to crowd you.
But if they aren't summoning them, then they're broken.
Yeah, they're not doing shit on my tests.
Not that im complaining, the Corrupted Survivors can shred you.
The less the merrier.
So either my game is broken, or they broke them in an update.
the corrupted survivors are just more damage but you can easily escape and reaper swipe them
also you can cheese Rockwell Prime
They can’t spawn more if the cap is hit
Either way I don't think I could do CMC, the music gives me anxiety in the arena and being on foot the entire time also racks up the anxiety.
I'm gonna be really sad if we don't see any form of horror shit return in ARK-2.
Genesis-2 did a great job on the horror aspects with the corrupted survivors.
Skill issue
Rc prime isn’t a hard fight
It just kills frames so u just lag around the entire time
Skill yourself, it's not my fault I was cursed with anxiety.
CMC is more a test of teamwork
CMC is a scam
I have anxiety also. But I fight through it.
I went underwater in VR and was bedridden for a day because of motion sickness.
Gen1 is a scam on Singleplayer
Gen1 and Gen2.
Gen2 is still doable somewhat
Gen1 missions and bossfight both are broken
GCM time
They balanced Wave Ray, and that's all I can remember. Nothing else.
Genesis-2 is at least doable on Single-player.
Alpha Gen-1 missions are just horrible.
iirc Haze tried to make a mod to fix it but apparently Missions are untouchable in ADK
scratch that, you cant cheat the race missions
Not the Brutes, not anything, CERTAINLY not Downriver.
Any changes made revert back on loading sp/server restart
They're not broken, but they are so unbalanced on Alpha that you either need to cheese, or have a huge team of players to beat them.
Downriver needs an extra minute.
It's actually possible.
Fundamentally broken, I mean.
I had a friend fucking go Giga-Chad mode and beat alpha-canoe legit.
It is, but the fastest I've seen it done is with 3 seconds left.
Oh yeah, defiantly.
I beat alpha canoe legit once with 0:00 remaining 🥲
And on console?? Better cut your losses.
See, this is bad mission design.
It doesn't help that if you hit anything, you're fucked
I KNOW
Hunts are easy enough with a good Giga or a couple
Like one time I'll crash into a massive rock and be fine
Then I go a pixel on-shore and I'll instantly lag out and restart

💀
It's something to do with hitting sides iirr
The front and back of the canoe are fine, but the sides take damage
Either way, a massive overhaul of missions would be... so unbelievably nice.
Even just... 30 extra seconds on downriver.
20% less attack and health for the brutes.
An extra minute on Survibe The ARK
Like, singleplayers exist too, yo.
Ah. But this is the lore channel. I forgor.
Imma go to bed, now.
Fr
Y'all like root-beer?
Still a wrong choice supporting Myotragus but ok
Submission guidelines the MVP fr
If anything we should all unite against O’fanosaurus
Its like if you were on your phone in class and someone snitched to the teacher
They already infiltrated the top 10
We never expected a Spanish Inquisition
That was my reaction to whoever "inferred" that plot point, fyi
RIP gamers who reported it before then
Ye
You mean the official head writer for ARK 2

I should be in bed
Oh for fuck sake SLEEP ME SLEEP
Who needs sleep when you can snort element spores
Inject Gatorade
Windex is just blue Gatorade if you really think about it
Would very much like the source on that then, HIGHLY doubt that
i beat alpha canoe with 1 second and 1 hp left
Anyone know of a video explain ark lore? I’ve been wantin to get into it
NeddytheNoodles 'survival-stories'
Can we confirm Neddy the Noodle is real and not just a part of the genesis simulation
Alr thanks
No
As i suspected
Literally impossible to confirm
Once the lore summaries are done
HOHHH
Hours of work, for something so splendid
I get to fine tune my writing skills too, heh.
Genesis 2 is telling two separate stories
The Santiago story is mostly worldbuilding for the ship and tying up loose ends in the narrative of Ark overall (it finally answers WHY DINOSAURS for good for example)
Gabe/Nida's notes are two perspectives on the same story- Rockwell emerging onto and beginning to take over the ship.
I still think its funny that Gabe got upset with Nida because he thought she called him a colonizer
The irony of Gen and ARK 2
Wait, that's why he was pissed off?
I never really got the Nida/Gabriel story.
It was extremely weird, and not wrapped up extremely well.
But it's interesting how they're made to quite obviously mirror Helena and Rockwell.
I guess it's to show that, no matter when or where, people like Helena and Rockwell will always be out there.
Keep that in mind when going into ARK 2.
Idk he said he thought she called him a colonizer and that he resented being seen as a villain like that
I think it would've been better if they shaved a Nida note or two off the front end and added one to the end talking about her fleeing from Rockwells chamber
As I did that, I realized she'd said something more like 'colonizer'.
I resented being cast in the role of villain, but I saw that she wasn't afraid of me.
Gabriel asked me not to call him a colonist.
He resents being cast in that role, which I can respect.
So like
Gabe is kind of a story of one really messed up guy that Rockwell messed up even more
He's got the memories of both a cultist and a miner and they don't play super well together, and Rockwell plucked him out of the simulation to be his toady
He's inherently really distrustful and being dropped into a strange alien world to his understanding didn't help any of that
That combination was actually really crucial to rockwell's schemes- As a miner he's really familiar with, well, mining and prospecting, so he's great for being able to locate, identify, and dig out element. And his cultist nature makes him a potentially easy mark for a god-being like rockwell to manipulate
Yup.
The only unexplained/confusing thing about gen 2 is that they just never really bother to explain how Rockwell got on the ship in the first place. Unless it's mentioned in the boss fight, but I kinda doubt it
It's never really explained to my knowledge but everyone just assumes when Aberration crashed he made his way to Arat prime which was mentioned at the end of Diana's notes and beamed into the simulation via the uplink to the ship
Then he just kinda infected the ship like a virus and started shutting down the zone guardians in the simulation and fabricating all kinds of modified creatures and such
I think it would've been way cooler if we let him finish the giga or he pulled out another one during the prime fight
The prime fight is far too easy even on alpha I think another experimental giga would make it more interesting
The writer said Arat Prime on Twitter
He also said that Helena made HLN-A first, and Rockwell came in AFTER.
That's what I would have assumed yeah I was just saying that the story of Genesis 2 never bothers to tell you that itself
I think thats reasonably inferred from Nidas notes either way though
Yeah.
And yeah she finds HLNA before rockwell starts rockwelling so it's safe to assume lil buddy got there first
It kind of does. Nida mentions a superluminal link left open that leads to the Genship.
She doesn't call it Arat Prime iirc, not only would it be above her role on the ship, but she was born on it, so she wouldn't know in general.
TLDR Helena didn't use a VPN and Rockwell used her Hotspot
NFT Rockwell became rockwell gaming in the simulation and started doing some trolling in the real world
I'm just saying that one note somewhere that explicitly answers it in the story would have answered the question without needing outside information
Hell it could even come from Rockwell himself while he's taunting you in the innards. He certainly doesn't care that you know what he's all about and that sort of taunt would be in-character
"Miss Walker thought herself so clever, but she left open a back door to this marvelous contraption..."
Dude has an ego bigger than the game's file size
He would absolutely mention it
Abattoir
There it is
I just don't see a practical need that he would mention how he actually got on the ship in the time he could be telling us about what hes been doing on the ship instead
Yeah.
Also would Rockwell even know what Helena had done??? Theres surely no way hed know about her ascension
The only information he would have would have to come from interacting with HLNA right?
He did know about her ascension.
I thought that much was obvious.
He's been watching Helena from Aberration.
I don't see how he could've known when he was in the arena and she was a space ghost that the last anyone could've seen anything of was comatose
He knows about Santiago's death, Helena's ascension, the Titans, the Corruption, the Genesis-Ship, etc
He's tapped into the System.
I can explain it to you, if you'd like.
The ark nabbed him and forced him to be overseer but I don't see how he could've been given access to all the subsystems otherwise couldn't he have spread to other Arks via corrupting the cloning chambers?
Alright. Let me explain it, then.
They System would supposedly contain information on everything. The ARKs system is exactly that, it connects all of them. Every single ARK, and in turn, all of that information is within the System. When Rockwell became the Overseer of Aberration, he tapped into all that information. From Earth's corruption, to the Genesis-Ship, everything is in there. All of that information.
And alongside that information, he is able to see, or at the very least SENSE everything going on that's connected to the ARKs. Earth would be included, as the control center for the ARKs is on Earth itself.
He can see everything, control some things and do nothing about it.
He's trapped as the Overseer, but when the ARKs landed and Aberration crashed, the System used its remaining power to purge the Element from the Earth, as stated by Helena.
No more System, no more restraints.
So Rockwell set out for Arat Prime from what used to be his ARK, and entered the Genesis-Ship through the superluminal link Diana and Mei opened to send Helena into the Genesis-Sim.
Does that make sense?
Additionally, the Homo Deus are connected to the System. Rockwell would know when Helena Ascended, as they're both tapped into the System. She's aware of him, and he's aware of her.
Don't get it confused, though. The Genesis-Ship doesn't run off of the System. Information on it is in the System, though, as the Genesis-Ship came first, and ARKs second.
And that's why both Rockwell and Helena knew about Arat Prime.
Is there any lore behind the big pit in extinction?
Near the Desert Cave? By the Desert Proto-ARK?
If that's what you're referring to, that's where an ARK was built, and launched into orbit.
Specifically The Island.
That's where The Island was constructed, where it was sent into orbit and where it landed after Helena activated the Reseed Protocol.
Me learning that transhumanism isn't just something that wildcard made up for a plot point and its actually an ideology
Transhumanism is a philosophical and intellectual movement which advocates the enhancement of the human condition by developing and making widely available sophisticated technologies that can greatly enhance longevity and cognition.
Transhumanist thinkers study the potential benefits and dangers of emerging technologies that could overcome fundamental human limitations, as well as the ethics of using such technologies. Some transhumanists believe that human beings may eventually be able to transform themselves into beings with abilities so greatly expanded from the current condition as to merit the label of posthuman beings.
I only just discovered this. I would consider myself a transhumanist for sure, and perhaps many other people would too.
Yeah, it's a real thing that is kinda divisive, for some reason. I always thought that one of the goals of humanity was to further it by most means, including cybernetic enhancement and the like. Funnily enough, Cyberpunk 2077 (and furthermore, the ttrpg as well) has a pretty transhumanist set of dilemmas to it, and it's kind of... a spiritual thing? To some? Like, will enhancing yourself in these ways taint your soul, somehow? It's really cool, and sometimes daunting, to think about. Anywho, yeah, transhumanism all the way! I wanna be a cyborg, baby!
i'm more of a bio-hacker side of transhumanism but then again... "bespoke designer babies" shiver
Wait for the surge in transhumanism. Any second now...
We could make a religion out of this
I can't tell if everyone going along with what i said are being sarcastic or not ngl😭
I never heard of it. I assumed we'd do it when we figured out how and screw the consequences, as normal.
Yeah i was reading about advancements in AI and it talked about the point where AI would surpass humanity which is called the singularity and the possible implications after that point
Its some interesting stuff thats for sure
Ngl i feel like knowing that puts the Ark story like way more into perspective 😭
Man-machine interfaces (and the consequences thereof) are like, half of what Ark as a story is about 😅
But like knowing its a realworld issue that we could face in our lifetime
I mean, at this point ai surpassing humans is still a fantasy. It hasn't progressed nearly far enough.
It's also possibly not even possible for ai to surpass humans, but that all depends on a better understanding of neuroscience
Making a sentient ai would be a mega hard accomplishment, ai chat bots might look smart but it's just an algorithm that learns from a mesh of words, i don't see it getting too close anytime soon
A Diana Note on Ab mentions sentient malware.
In an addendum.
Always use a virtual machine, boyz.
I think we're closer than you guys might think😭
Its also not entirely about sentience
Its not like any of the enforcers or scouts or defense units are sentient, at least i don't believe that's ever suggested
Sentience is not the bar, its just artificial intelligence being more capable than humanity
Sounds cool.
when i breed 2 things in single player the egg donst spawn in why so
This channel is for lore, not gameplay issues. Try #bobs-with-probs
Rockwell ate it, sorry
W response
Hello guys
hi
hey
wonder how the lore with the animated series will stick the games story
i know it will be fleshed out more on the show
wrong channel
right channel because ARK Anime's lore is not 1:1 similar to the Game's Lore
"for modern audiences"
I dunno what you're inferring
TLDR: They changed important story events to be more entertaining
Some look good some look unfortunate
The personalities of a lot of characters seem exaggerated, as well
But a lot of the new characters they're introducing look very good
Such as Thunder Comes Charging and Bob
don't really like how nerva seems to have been changed from roman general to typical barbarian chief
Romans where pretty barbaric in their actions in their own little way.
maybe but i wanted to see actual roman-style uniform and not just loin cloth and animal hide. it's not very creative
Sure, but it's bound that some resources aren't on the ARK's, making it harder to recreate that stuff.
guns go brrrrrrrrr
General firearms aren't hard to make.
And the fact the ARK's support polymer is one thing.
I meant shit like lead, gold, tin, etc.
d y e s
Im willing to bet all of those resources are on the Ark Wildcard just decided instead of making an individual ore for everything they would make "metal" which takes the place of any kind of metal that would be used in any mechanical device
I think they just decided the antagonist of the island would look cooler with all the bones and stuff instead of traditional Roman armor
Im considering electronics to be a basic printable circuit board, which would require copper lead aluminum iron tin and more
I think the wildcard not wanting to make an individual ore for each metal type is much more likely than the absence of those resources in an environment that stole a massive chunk of the Earth and terraformed it to be a perfect test and survival environment
A more realistic ark would be interesting though- kinda merging it with astroneer to have to mine a bunch of different kind of ores and having to make a machine to capture different gasses you may need like hydrogen and stuff
Im sure thats quite an overestimate and its just basic electronic components but either way you aren't making all that with iron
The ghost ping is very confusing
Just a spam that was removed. Sorry.
No need to be sorry😭
Mechanical seeds ballistichated
In the heavens instincts disintegrated
Each pillar of tech and illusory sky;
Kernels of hope for all mankind
He who is lost on his goal, the aberrant mind
Visions set forth to become saviour thine
Twisted by malice is the garden
It's insides grown cold and hardened
Singularity brought forth corruption
The world once known, killed by our hands
Beings of dark rise from the sin
Mercenaries of satan's kin
The king hides within the shadows
Slay him, coax his army shallow
Only then will I have the key of Gaia
With it, I can call down the seeds from higher
System drained as I cry, I strain
To see the sun, and feel the rain
Humans taught a lesson and paid the price
This is nature's sacrifice
Before I fade before your eyes
Someplace I must visit, this is your prize;
A fragment of myself, a friend, a guide
Step forth, Survivor, for this ship brings new salvation, a better life
The fuck are you on about?

Dude wrote a whole ass poem

Don't you want to hear about the significant lore behind Rockwell's neckbeard
Do we find out what happened to meiyin and Diana at the end of their notes on extinction?
Well after.
After? No idea we just know they wanted to head to Arat prime
I personally believe they died from the inevitable aneurysm from piloting the megamek but thats just what i think
How do we know that?
(We don't)
Fingers crossed we see them again
iirc they both went to a city on the dark side of earth
@gusty turret while I understand the context of that seemingly joking comment, that comment could get very out of hand very fast, and we're really not equipped to handle that big of a topic, so I've removed it.
Yeah you're okay don't worry
IIRC in Twitter, the writer said, only helena beamed herself in Arat prime
given it's between the actual end of Ext and Rockwell's liberation
i dont think Mei and Diana was there when Helena ported herself to the ship after the events of Bob's Ext
given Santiago's gen chronicle notes stated that they are getting wiped
It's been explicitly stated kek
Where....
Let me find you the Note. Are your DMs open?
Actually, I can just put it here.
We’re pioneers, but we aren’t the first survivors to get back to Earth. Years ago, a few survivors got back -- one of whom was Helena, the survivor who made me.
They saw the same devastation you’re seeing right now, and they sought their own way to escape. For Helena, that meant ascending and becoming Homo Deus -- an energy being beyond our reality. For her friends, it meant a long journey to a place called Arat Prime, where they figured out a way to beam Helena into the Genesis simulation. And then she made me!
~ HLN-A , Genesis 1 Chronicles #14
Once Helena’s friends beamed her into the Genesis simulation, she made me. But then she left. I guess homo deus beings can’t stay in our reality -- or the simulation -- for very long.
She gave me basic access to the simulation, but not a lot of guidance beyond that.
But in watching you, I’m pretty sure what I’m supposed to do: help you out as a companion and friend. Just like Helena helped her friends, and her friends helped her. Together we’re going to master the Genesis simulation, and pass every test they give us!
~ HLN-A, Genesis 1 Chronicles #15
Unless they spontaneously imploded upon themselves, they're still alive.
Fries gets ridiculously teasy and suspicious when asked about them on Twitter, that and the fact that Santiago isn't considered the only 'legendary hero' we're surviving alongside in ARK 2, as hinted by its Steam Page, I'd assume they got onto the Genesis-Ship through the superluminal link.
Huh interesting
In fact, they HAD to have. According to Fries, Rockwell dragged himself to Arat Prime after Helena. So Diana and Mei had to have followed with her, shortly afterwards, lest they face Rockwell. (Not that they'd know of his existence anymore, but I digress.)
sadly the chronicles are dubious
They can be, yes. But I see nothing dubious about this one.
compared to his twits
The puzzle pieces fit, relatively well.
And come on.
Mei and Diana are coming back. 100%.
You've seen his Tweets, I assume.
It's all but confirmed.
It would've been better if they had a voice line in gen two about it or something instead of using the chronicles
Definitely. Definitely.
But they needed something to bridge, while we waited for the launch.
So what else, but Arat Prime?
Anyways, again, unless Diana and Mei evaporated out of thin air immediately after sending Helena into Genesis, they got on the Ship, and they're in ARK 2.
They wouldn't be a random, untalked about, off-screen death, they're WAY too important.
It really just doesn't make sense that they could've survived to Arat prime
Diana was taking 3 full brains worth of stress on her freshly regenerated brain logically she would've died extremely quickly
Yet she didn't.
It doesn't matter if it doesn't make sense, it really doesn't.
And why did it take them so long to travel to Arat Prime? Well me personally I'd say the horrid terrain with combination of the Titans they were probably slaying along the way.
Either way, they got there sometime around the Reseed Protocol and beamed Helena into Genesis AFTER the Reseed Protocol. We dunno what happens chronologically, but we know that Rockwell entered through the same superluminal link Helena went through, as she never closed it.
If Rockwell can go through it, so can Mei and Di. And considering they have a 99.9% chance to appear in ARK 2, I'd say they did.
not as we know in ARK 1 probably
That's why I said ARK 2.
They aren't coming back in ARK 1, unless we get the Arat Prime DLC.
Which we probably won't, unfortunately.
read again.. slowly

read faster then
Wasn't there something about them killing titans until they died? I vaguely recall one of their final notes saying they would do that.
Yeah they were gonna kill as many titans as they could and head to Arat prime
Then with the writer swap the transition is a mess so what actually happened is a big jumbled mess of who actually knows
They obviously did the titan thing cuz.... Well theres like 3 dangerous ones and the king left for us to fight
Yup yup.
I destroyed your argument with evidence.
FINE
, don't agree, though. I don't see why we'd get Mei and Diana 2.0 if we have... Mei and Di 1.0
Err
Mei 1.0 and Di 2.0
I tend to forget Rockwell did the Orange Justice on Diana on Ab
It wasn't until they died, it was until they got to Arat Prime.
I guess that brings up another inconsistency tbh, Fries said Helena waited to investigate until after the Reseed so she knew Earth was safe. What if they got to Arat Prime before Reseed?
Even if we see them in Ark 2, the version of them on Extinction has in fact died, on that you must agree
They obviously didn't, but man Helena Dehs has some shitty plans.
No. I don't. If they just beamed Helena into the sim near the beginning of Genesis, they wouldn't just up and die.
We don’t trust Helena
We've got way more evidence for them being alive, than for them being dead.
And your whole theory on them reaching Arat Prime just as we get to Earth is shaky, at best
It is, but it's not my fault. It's Fries for not understanding the previous timeline.
Even that isn't really his fault, he had a few months to learn all the lore.
And even then, it took me like, a year and a half to understand every little aspect. Poor guy.
Read my statement again, you must've misunderstood
🤦♂️

this is the only time i agree with you on that one
like c'mon how long will it takes for Helena to realized "i must go to the gen ship" when she is waiting for us to slay KT to trigger the protocol
if mei is still alive after the Ext notes, the protocol would've triggered earlier than helena should
this is why i dont trust the twitter posts
We know for sure that Helena Deus reaches out to the ship before we even get to Earth, because it's been (at minimum) hundreds of years and there's no feasible way that Mei-Yin and Diana's physical bodies could have survived that long
The timeframe for the decaying of the Island's structures and the Extinction character's existence proves as such
But again, I know Stele is set in his ways, and seems to think he knows the lore better than the writers, so I'll just leave it at that 😂
i am pretty sure that is basing on the twit interviews
but that is dubious at best as he (IIRC) didn't wrote Ext lore
the Gen chronicles didn't help either
you know what is funny... Mei stopped making notes after Ab, that would've been the best moment to fill those plotholes but nope
Well, the Genesis Chronicles are canon, and they do say that Helena Deus was beamed into the simulation by Mei-Yin and Diana, but no timeframe is given, and I find it hard to believe that there's suddenly a tweet from the writers that I haven't read that does give a timeframe 😅
My brother in Christ I DO
🤡
It's almost as if the new writer had 3 months to catch up and doesn't know the FINE DETAILS
hence the chronicles are dubious... canon but dubious
Very.
Imagine being so self-centered that you think you know the lore better than the writers of it 🤡
Ironic.
The one piece of data relating to time that we do have, however, is that the structures on The Island are, at least, a few hundred years old
Source?
And that piece of data isn't just inserted out of nowhere based on my own headcanon, either. It's from the Reddit AMA
TOWW or HD Helena kinda contradicts the Chronicles
even HLNA admits this that those memories are vauge
kinda ironic actually
that Ext Chronicles contradicts Gen Chronicles
I have next to no idea what you're talking about, lol
HD Helena/TOWW is Ext Chronicles
Mind if I check if I understand? So Mei and Diana may have got to arat but if they did they'd be dead anyway because time? Or is it only possible for them to have used the terminal after reseed?
They saw the same devastation you’re seeing right now, and they sought their own way to escape. For Helena, that meant ascending and becoming Homo Deus -- an energy being beyond our reality. For her friends, it meant a long journey to a place called Arat Prime, where they figured out a way to beam Helena into the Genesis simulation. And then she made me!
~ HLN-A , Genesis 1 Chronicles #14
yet HD Helena waits for us while she is still on earth?
Helena Deus had to return to Earth, yeah... still don't get what you mean just quite, she returns to Earth after visiting the ship because the ship has nothing for her to tether herself to; Earth and "The System" do
the new cutscenes didnt help either
The new cutscenes didn't do much of anything, it's just exposition for the sake of exposition
this give me a ponder
if that were the case HD Helena just returns to Earth after she made HLNA instead of "fizzled out" like most of us thought?
Which, seeing as apparently "no one" reads the lore, maybe was more needed than some think 🤣
it barely adds a thing and people still dont read the notes lol
I never "thought she fizzled out", so idk what you mean (again). It's explicitly stated that she has to return to Earth, in the Genesis reveal
i mean.. Helena does back tracking
for a "ascended god" she sure do a lot of dumb
It adds a little... twinkle of story, that most people wouldn't see otherwise, and may get them to engage with the story later on. Sounds like a net gain to me 🤷♂️
personally that ruins character development for Helena because she returns back to being a "dipstick"
after all she left the backdoor open for rockwell to cha-cha-slide in
She had no control over whether it was open or not, it was a physical object that had to be manipulated to open/close the connection, clearly
Otherwise, she would've opened it herself, and not needed Mei and Diana
for an entity that is capable of making a "hologram" that can interact both simulation and real world and even "in ARKs"
but a simple open-close command? nah, she ain't no overseer
She isn't that's my point 😅
She isn't able to interact with the physical world, just data and the like
She's an energy being, after all
i mean the door of a super advanced Tek Ship isn't analog at all
even space doors have coding in them
even just in binary code
1 is on 0 is off
Yeah, but the controls and systems of an unpowered, superluminal link might be, we don't know
the real answer is Helena even in homodeus form is still a dipstick
Besides, it may have been unpowered, which would negate that line of thinking entirely
kinda funny that CMC is also made of code as well
hence rockwell can chacha right in without a physical body anyways
Hardly. She probably knows a lot more than any other being on Earth, I'd imagine, since the Homo Deus are all connected somewhat, and probably highly intelligent
I don't understand what you're getting at here btw
yet her decision to go to the gen ship is on her own
the overseer is a literal amalgamation of collective consciousness hence the "all connected bit"
helena is the only HD that is still have a consciousness and personal decision left in her
what i found out in the Gen missions that some Sim Missions have some lore connection in them like Code Red
in Star Dolphin
HLNA sees CMC as a virus, not at all part of the ship
given the Dino Discovery cutscene and the Nida Notes hinted that HNLA (or ones like her) predates the creation of HLNA
the look of HLNA is the real master controller
Overseers are individual Homo Deus, or at least that's what I understood from what has been said about them
Also, that's quite a reach there, that HLN-A is the Master Controller
HD Helena mentioned that the overseer is a collective of HD
i mean the overseer's voice is an obvious hint enough
You misunderstand, she means that the Overseer (plural) are a collective of Homo Deus
i recall it's from the Ext chronicles
You don't say "Overseers", because English is weird
It has a different inflection, but is spelled the same
you said "Overseers" while i said "Overseer's"
Not from what was typed, but I get ya now 😅
I’m sorry I’m kinda new to the story of the game but who are the homo deus?
Humans that've evolved past physical limitations and are complete energy.
To add to that, not only can't they stay in our reality, and realities based in our own, such as simulations, for too long, but they fade away after time due to absurd amounts of information consumption.
what's the difference between the ??? notes and the one who waits notes
Little to none, seeing as they're both Helena Deus
was the ??? notes before the surviovr knew he was homo deus or something?
More or less, yeah
It was before she really even remembered who she was, so she just gave herself those monikers in the interim
did helena walker as homo deus remember who she was in extinction?
At some point, but eventually she had to put her personality into HLN-A, the robot that accompanies us, because Homo Deus eventually lose their sense of self altogether as stated above due to knowing/absorbing too much data and information. They then disappear, likely to a state of being imperceptible to humans
so homo deus lose themselves for being too smart?
